Had no choice but to use their service because the police department called them for our truck breaking down on the highway. Whoever we spoke to on the phone was AS RUDE as all these 1 star reviews say. Literally don't go out of my way either to leave reviews because I also operate a small business so I understand and respect the hustle but keyword is RESPECT. To dismiss my staff simply because they were asking for more information? to provide false information and to rudely accuse us of credit card fraud because we wanted to know why it cost $850+tax for a tow LESS THAN 0.5 miles? absolutely unacceptable. We said we would pay but we just needed a proper invoice first for our accounting, and thats when we'd provide the credit card info but to refuse that request and then to rudely shut us down. One of my vans caught a flat on the Sprain Pkway. The tow truck company requires a form to be printed and filled out for credit card authorizations, so I had to leave my home and rush to the office to print and sign and send back, in the meantime I get calls from the driver telling me to come to him! Last thing I heard was him calling me a bum and hung up. I called the office and spoke to Lauren and could hear some guy in the background screaming while she was trying to defuse the situation. I called their office and left a message with the woman that answers the phone there. I left my name and number and was told the owner would call me. I never heard back from him. For the last 35 years, I've been trailering my boat from my home in VA to my beach house in Gloucester, MA. My endless nightmare has been a trailer/truck breakdown on I-95 in NY/NJ/Conn on a weekend, when I travel. Sure enough, it finally happen (broken brake fluid line in the boat trailer & damaged lug nuts) in NY. I went to 3 auto repair shops w/o any luck. Finally, I ended up at Glenn's Towing. They fix trucks also. Well, the owner, Glen, took over and proceeded to get my boat trailer back on the road. Since the parts stores were closed or they didn't have the parts I needed, Glen was able to improvise for the repair. These guys are great!!!! The tow driver was fantastic he pushed my car out of my garage and got it on the truck in no time. My car wouldn't start and the problem was minor, corroded contact clamp, they fixed it in 5 min. I was expecting it to be worse and I would have to get a rental car for a week. I had my car towed from the side of highway about twenty minutes from Glens towing today, The driver was there in about an hour but I can't be upset about that due to the terrible traffic. Driver brought me & my vehicle back to their shop safely and promptly, when we arrived to their business I was confused if it was a business or a trap house. I spoke to the woman at the front desk who was very friendly and she told me the man next to her Chris would be with me shortly (he was literally sitting next to her the whole time) 40 minutes after he decided to stop taking on new clients on the phone he says he will go look at my car, during this time the owner "Glen" was screaming at his employees (who happened to be women) and cursing at them repeatedly while myself and other customers were about 6 feet away from him. Not to mention and I am not exaggerating not one employee was wearing a face mask, no mechanic no one in the front legitimately none of them. It was like the virus didn't exist, for hours people came in and out with no masks, mind you this office is about the size of a master bedroom... Long story short it took them two and half hours to replace my tire and there was little to no communication. It took a lot of patience to not lose my temper. The tow was a good experience, the shop itself is garbage and their customer service is awful... This is a dark and sinisterly place. If you're a trucker, I beg you to run the other way, no matter if the towing will cost you more. Spot the red flags and be smarter than me: One of our trucks was towed (never asked the truck driver, the towing operator just took our tractor to Glen's for unknown reasons)for what he described a quick fix: an open air line. When we got to Glen's towing one of the mechanics said that they needed to replace all the air lines and even electrical lines. When I asked for an estimate, the lady (Laura) wouldn't tell me. She just said "we're honest people". After the third day in the shop they told me that they needed a new part from Volvo (harness). Again, asked for an estimate but they wouldn't let me know even a ball park figure. When asked when the truck would be ready Laura would just say "tomorrow at 5pm" but the following day she just would repeat the same line, "tomorrow at 5pm". After the 4th or 5th day, the shop said that they needed another part (from the drive shaft). On the 6th day, I told them that I was going to tow the truck out of there and to just let me know how much we needed to pay. They refused and said that they would fix it the same day. That day, almost a week after arriving at this place, they gave me the bill: $3, 420.72. This is the equivalent of the labor for an engine rebuild (we have done a few to our fleet). I refused to sign a credit card authorization form that estates that I would "relinquish any right to dispute in any way, now or in the future." I finally spoke to Glen who said that by not signing I had disrespected him and that now I needed to pay cash (remember that the truck was always ready at 5pm so there's no way to get to a bank). As any trucker would know, another idle day was going to cost me at least $1,500 or more. After many calls, I convinced him to take the card and promised to be out of his way (had to sign the clause that relinquish any rights). Before leaving, I had asked for warranty terms. They don't have any warranty. They just said "we're not going anywhere and that the Volvo parts have warranty". The driver who picked up the truck noticed that Glen was carrying a gun. There were two cops inside the office. They just smiled while I was talking to Glen. During our heated exchanges on the phone, Glen told me to tell all my family that he's a crook. If course, I won't say that. Just spot the red flags fellow truckers. read more

I have had the pleasure of using Glen's Towing many times over the years as long distance bus driver. This trip, my motor coach was having trouble in a trip back from Canada. One quick call to Glen's Towing and a repair/tow truck driver was at the scene within 40 minutes. I live in the area so I'm familiar with Glens towing company so of course I reached out to his company first. I made an appointment to have my car towed but this review reflects a woman who answers the phone. She told me to leave the keys in the car the day before so the driver can put it into Neutral upon pick up, so I did. The next day I received a call at work and didn't pick up because I was at work and the number did not look familiar. After getting home from work I noticed the car still in the driveway when it was supposed to be towed to it's location. So I called and she made it seem as if it was my fault for not picking up the phone to confirm the tow. Lady, you called one time with NO message and it becomes my fault? Learn how to be a receptionist and a competent individual who can at least work an office job. Try this, call more then one time but more importantly learn how to leave a message. You're a 24/7 tow company and when I confronted you about not leaving a message you stuttered and then told me there are no more available times that day for the car to be towed. What a joke. Sorry Glen, this doesn't reflect your quality of work just your incompetent office employee who is costing you money. Took my business elsewhere. read more

Hi Glen, I just received your email (it was in the spam folder). I am assuming that you were contacted by my insurance company. My daughter and I walked to a nearby restaurant called Mack's Catering,773 Quinebaug Rd, Quinebaug CT (excellent food) to arrange for roadside service. My insurance company gave me the impression that they were not able to reach anyone, so I tried to make arrangements myself. Everyone said we were too far away, so I contacted Uber (who canceled). I finally arranged for a pick up from Lyft which was great because Mack's would be closing at 8:00 pm (15 min). The restaurant owner in addition to allowing us to repeatedly use their business and personal phone. Went even further and gave us a gas can with gas in it. As if that was not enough the owner helped me put the gas in since the gas can was malfunctioning. To top it all off they never charged us for the coffee we ordered while we were waiting. Furthermore, one of the roadside assistance drivers we contacted earlier decided to show up after the fact , INTOXICATED, AND DEMANDING CASH PAYMENT. The owner then took it upon herself to follow me to the gas station to make sure we were safe, so to answer your question, yes we made it home okay. read more

I broke down on the NY State through way towing my horse trailer on my way to a horse show and competition. Glen's Towing was called and the owner Glen told me someone would be to me in about 30 minutes. 10 minutes later, the tow driver showed up and assessed the problem. It was determined not to be fixable roadside so I was towed to the shop. There I was met with nothing but extreme professionalism and courteousness. The on site repair person stayed late to accommodate my situation and the horses, did a more complete assessment, discussed everything with me and gave me an estimate. Within 2 hours, my equipment was completely repaired and I was back in the road. The final bill was fair and the entire time I was in the shop, I was updated accordingly. Police called them to tow my car. Got a phone call from my insurance company stating they did not have my vehicle. Called and spoke with a lady there who had a very poor attitude stating the car was in the lot but not in the system yet. This isn't a reason to tell the secondary towing company that they don't have the car at all. So the other company canceled the second tow to take it to the shop of preference. I was advised to follow up with my insurance. I had called and they put a second order in. I called the other company to ensure it was taken care of and they were on their way and Glen's told them it wasn't paid for yet. This was a holiday weekend and the process started around 2pm or so. I called Glen's concerned with the time crunch and not wanting to pay for 4 days for the car to sit in their lot. Although my car insurance is set to pay Glen's didn't have a price yet so my second tow was canceled again. I called to follow up as they were busy and was cut off by the lady on the phone, screamed at that she was busy and had 4 others to deal with before me and was not concerned with my time concern. I asked of she had an approximate time frame so I could just pay out of pocket and get a reimbursement from insurance to move the process along. She proceeded to shout " I don't have a price." She then hung up on me. We called some time later and was given a cost at about 4pm, and I payed out of pocket and let them know the other company was on the way now that the fee was taken care of. She said we close at 4:30 and I said to please wait for the other truck. Where earlier I was assured it would be fine and there was plenty of time. I confirmed the other company was about to head there and the owner told the insurance company they were closed while they were still open. I asked if they could wait a few minutes as the tow is only 10 minutes away and it's before 4:30. His exact words were " If it's 4:31, I'm closing the gates. I told you just like I told your husband " he dhowed no concern that I was shaken up and distressed from the back and forth and confusion between companies and insurance. I am also 5 months pregnant and this was emotionally very confusing and stressful for me as I've never had to have a car towed from an accident before so didn't know or understand the process. He had a horrible attitude. I do hope that he is shown more mercy than he's shown to his customers. I did mention this because they have 0 professionalism when it comes to "under pressure progessionalism." The only reason they deserve even 1 star is because Chris was an angel and a pleasure to speak with. Chris... do better for yourself. You deserve to work for a company who treats their customers with the same respect as you do. They don't deserve you. The boss was a terror in terms of attitude and courtesy as well as the lady on the phone. Not a care in the word for your situation, looking to make extra $$$ from insurance so the car sits on a 4 day weekend. I am willing to re- write this review depending on how the rest of my interactions (car pickup) goes with them. read more

These guys are our heroes. Our trailer tire blew and after several calls, we were unable to find anyone nearby who could help us. Apparently a trailer tire is not something that is commonly carried by roadside assistance places, versus a car tire. But Glenn's went out and bought the right size tire and installed it, rather than have us sleep in the car overnight. I can't thank them enough. read more
