Just got booted at the Elmsford Post Office and then fleeced for $65 plus tax by the driver. I am not from Elmsford but had visited the USPS once to mail something. I assumed that since the lot was open at 9 p.m. when I arrived that it would be safe to park there. There were no signs saying that it was closed and there was no gate. I called Alex's tow company and was on hold for quite a while until they said that they would send a truck. While I was waiting, I called the Elmsford police who said that they couldn't do anything about it even though I told them that that this wasn't legal. They told me to write to the Better Business Bureau. Not only wasn't this helpful but it was surprising to me that someone could just boot a car and hold it hostage for cash and that the police condoned it. When the truck arrived the driver pointed to 2 signs in the distance in the dark, as far from the entrance/exit as possible (one in the trash area and one in the far corner of the lot, probably 75 - 100 feet away). There were no signs indicating that there were parking restrictions or hours for the lot and no signs any where near the entrance -- having read other reviews, it seems that there have been others that have had this problem and yet no one does anything about it. When asked about it, the driver how they have the right to do this he said 1) I saw when you arrived at 7:30 p.m. and you could have seen the signs (I arrived in the dark at 8:50 p.m. in time for a concert in Elmsford at Pete's Saloon 2) didn't you think that maybe you shouldn't park here? 3) you seem like a smart guy, why don't you just admit that you made a mistake. We have found this company to be extremely unprofessional and unresponsive. There have been significant delays in providing the necessary documentation to initiate services, despite multiple attempts to follow up by phone and email. Each time we are told someone will get back to us, but there has never been any follow-through. As investors preparing to move forward with a new property, timely communication and reliability are essential. Unfortunately, our experience reaching out in 2024, 2025, and again in 2026 has consistently resulted in no progress or meaningful response. I am having the vehicle shipped to my primary residence in Michigan and wanted to have it stay there in storage for about 24 hrs. I was currently out of state however the corresponding paperwork and keys are with the vehicle. The representative kept asking my "who are you?" Once I told him, and explained what I needed, he then insinuated the vehicle was stolen. I then asked him what he need from me to prove it was my vehicle, he simply stated that he wanted "nothing to do with it." He was extremely rude and very short with me. I have photos and videos of cars illegally parked in front of my house for over 12 hours with the Alex's Towing sign in front. Tracy (phone manager) refused to provide an email where I can send these photos to. I said it is unacceptable for these cars to be parked ILLEGALLY for over 12 hours she said "I don't care I'm hanging up". HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! I never authorized them to tow my car but they did it anyway right after the accident without giving me a chance to call my own towing company. The next day, they urged me not to take my car out and told me to "wait for insurance," just so they could keep racking up daily fees. They tried to hold my car hostage, claiming it wasn't driveable... when it absolutely was. After 7 days of this mess, I was forced to get my car out and they hit me with a $1,670 bill. That's supposedly $96/day, but the rest was full of random, shady extra charges -- and the tow was not even half a mile. This place is a complete scam. First off this company should be investigated for unethical practices of booting cars. The customer service lady is rude and unprofessional. I work at the post office in White Plains only to be booted while working overnight in job parking lot. Handicap sticker is placed hanging from rearview but was booted anyway in handicap parking no paperwork filled out but sticker put on window with boot I did not even see. On Thanksgiving Day, I found two boots placed on my car and a sticker on my window indicating I was illegally parked. When I called to have the boots released, I was told they had pictures proving my car was illegally parked and that I needed cash to get my car released, or it would be towed. The company showed up with a flatbed truck as if to have my car towed if I didn't have cash as stated.. After my car was detained for some time, I was finally told the towing company made a mistake - my car was actually in a valid spot, and their driver had made a mistake. This was my first experience with the company, and I was appalled by their rude, unprofessional behavior. It was clear from their tone that they were only interested in making money. This company boots your car, then demands cash only to take it off, when you call the woman who answers isn't very smart so she asks you to repeat the same information several times and then hangs up on you if you display the slightest hint of frustration. My car is registered by the plate number to be in the lot where I reside, my tag was in the cup holder, I forgot to put it on the mirror. This is a scam by the tow company and unfortunately it seems it's in conjunction with the management company running my complex because why insist on having my vehicles registration information for the parking tag if it's going to be disregarded anyway? Luckily my neighbor was able to see the driver hit my car, so when I got home he told me to check my car and my security cameras. I checked and sure enough my car had a dent and scratches. In the security video you can see the driver hitting my car, getting out to check the damage and then just leaving. I called them and informed them about the situation and they were very rude. They asked me to send evidence and I did. They replied back with a " I determined that we did no damage to your car" . Not thrilled with the service. I needed a jump start this past Sunday, Easter, and was glad there was someone close by. I believe the guys name was Peter and he had no clue. He tried to jump my truck but couldn't get it started so I left it at work and Ubered home. Monday I call for a tow and a different guy jumped it and it started right away!!!!!! Zero stars. Like another reviewer I parked behind the Elmsford Post Office on a sunny quiet Sunday afternoon at around 5 p.m. for 13 minutes while I bought a sandwich at the Subway next door. I have the receipt. The lot was empty and the Post Office of course was closed. I came back and the car was booted. They only accept cash because everyone would dispute a credit card charge or stop payment on a check. Luckily I had $65 and have no idea what would have happened if I didn't. Incidentally I don't know of anyone under the age of 40 who ever carries cash. Obviously their tow truck was cruising around on a slow Sunday evening and they know they can pick up a quick few bucks watching this lot. I talked to an official in Westchester County Government who agreed that they routinely violate the spirit of the law even if they are legally in the right. A letter to the Mayor of Elmsford was quickly and courteously responded to. The Honorable Robert Williams said he would pass my letter on to the Elmsford Police Department. If I had known they had jurisdiction I would have called them at the time. Also if I had the time I would take them to Small Claims Court. Needless to say a letter to "Alex" was not responded to. On a positive note the tow truck driver came quickly, (probably there wasn't much other business late on a Sunday evening because most people are at home) was courteous and scraped the large sticker off the driver's side window, teaching me how to do it. I am not leaving his name because I don't want to get him into trouble with "Alex" for being too helpful and the poor guy needs to feed his family. I am also posting this review anonymously because I live nearby and wouldn't put it past this outfit to be on the lookout for my car, because when there is no reasonable alternative I will park in a lot they patrol, such as the one behind the CVS in Tarrytown on a Saturday night when something special is going on and the municipal lot and street parking aren't available and CVS is closed. read more

I had an unfortunate experience. My car was towed during Covid pandemic. I have lost my job and was home sick. I called to retrieve my car and was told different addresses to get my car each time I called. Found out it was cash only and a less than decent office. When I arrived at the lot where my car was towed, the door was unlocked and the drivers seat was all the way back. I had both sets of keys at home with me and no idea why anyone was in my car. This company is run like a criminal organization. Because there was no street parking, we parked in the Elmsford post office parking lot today, Sunday, to purchase lunch at Subway next door. Subways was temporarily closed, we purchased a brownie for our son at the bakery next door, and returned to our car. This all took no more than 5 minutes. By the time we returned, our car had been booted. The tow truck driver that works for this company (who looks like he had neither showered or slept in weeks) was waiting (it's very likely he followed us into the parking lot, having spotted an "easy mark") and demanded $70 in cash to remove the boots. To be clear (i) it's illegal to boot cars in NYS unless done in coordination with the police and as a result of owing more than $350 in outstanding parking tickets, and (ii) this hooligan demanded cash to remove the boots (so as to make it impossible for us to challenge the theft with our credit card company), which is clearly a deceptive and corrupt business practice. To make matters worse, this sleazy individual failed to provide a receipt and only returned the $10 in change after my husband became upset. We immediately went to the Elmsford police department to file a complaint and were told that Alex's Towing is the subject of frequent complaints from unwitting citizens caught up in similar scams. We tried to file a complaint with the BBB and quickly learned this business is uncredited as a result of numerous complaints. We will send a letter to the Elmsford post office explaining this travesty of justice, and suggest that a Federal agency should not be condoning the egregious and illegal activity being perpetrated by Alex's Towing. read more
