It was after my friends and I had completed a stellar visit to the nearby Auchentoshan Distillery (and were feeling appropriately sloshed) that we decided some grub was in order to help sop up all the whiskey. At the recommendation of our guide (a local), we took a surprisingly pleasant walk through the forest nearby and ended up smack dab in front of Glen Lusset. As you're not exactly spoilt for choice with regards to food in the area, I still left feeling quite chuffed with our good fortune by the end of our meal!
The first thing you'll notice about the Glen Lusset is that it's mighty spacious. There's a bar area and a restaurant area, and we were seated in a sort of covered dining room portion that allowed us to appreciate the drizzle just outside and being warm and toasty on the inside. Our service was prompt and friendly, and in no short order a variety of food had arrived for us to sample. For me, I'd decided one round of starches wasn't enough, and had some cajun potato skins (NOM) followed by a macaroni main with chips instead of the normal garlic bread (proof that I was thinking with mah belly). The food was delish, and I heard no complaints out of my friends either. The atmosphere was pleasant as well, with a wide variety of clientele, from folk our age, to families with children, and older folk all seemingly comfortable and enjoying themselves.
All in all we left Glen Lusset feeling full and satisfied. If you're in the area, or like us, are travelers looking for a meal after some serious dram-age, then certainly give Glen Lusset a go! read more
