me and my partner went to get a bite to eat and a few drinks, four weeks ago. They had a pre theatre menu, as well as the standard menu. The pre theatre had obscure items in each course, as it was inevitible that the chef was going to have a lot of wastage, as the food had been thrown together, with fancy names, but who was the chef trying to kid. I asked if i would get the haggis neeps and tatties, as the starters and desserts did not sound appetising, but i had been told, that the chef can't do my request, as the dish wasn't even on the standard menu. The standard menu, was varied, but too pricey for the type of ingrdients for the courses advertised. Since me and my partner were hungry we took starters only, and when i asked for extra cheese, sour cream with my nachos, we were charged £2.50 for two of the smallest portions in the smallest pots imaginible, which is an insult, and to add another insult the waitress did not state that we would get charged £2.50 for the extras i requested. Also we tried the apple pie and hot custard, which had got to be the worst apple pie and custard i have tried, the apple pie had been bland, and borderline tasteless, and the custard was near to cold, and yes you guest it, the custard came in the smallest pot imaginible. Overall the food was basic, and the portion control was terrible, as no one should be given such small portions, when you get charged too much for the food. This is such a shame, as the pub, has some great qualities, like the wine, the decor, and the clientelle, but unfortunately the food is very poor, and if the inn pub want to charge expensive prices, they need to back this up, by serving excellent food, otherwise they should just serve basic pub grub. read more
