It's me, your friendly neighborhood sugar lover. I'm here to tell you about the first Saturday of the month at Glazed Doughnuts. It's the day the gluten sensitive human waits all month long for. It's gluten sensitive doughnut day and it's what dreams are made of. A couple of things to get out of the way first. 1) Glazed is a traditional doughnut shop, which means there is a possibility of cross contamination. I haven't had any issues, but they are upfront about that fact. I understand the majority of the doughnuts they produce are made with gluten containing ingredients, but on the first Saturday of the month I risk it anyways. 2) They will keep the gluten sensitive doughnuts separate from the gluten containing doughnuts. Which is thoughtful and wonderful, this doesn't always happen. Okay, on to my review of Glazed. My husband and kids have been enjoying their regular (and not so regular) doughnuts for a while and I always felt like I was missing out. They look delicious and my family raves about them. When I found out about their gluten sensitive option I about exploded with joy. And for.the.love. they are delicious. Especially the fruity pebble. I mean, especially the chocolate. I mean...all of them. They are all delicious. The staff is as sweet as their product. They are always kind, always courteous, and always patient (especially with am 11 year old who just cannot figure out what she wants). I know a COVID environment is frustrating and requires extra patience - this shop is doing just that and doing an amazing job at flexing with the changes. I absolutely appreciate that they go above and beyond. And look, they don't have to make gluten free doughnuts. I would never expect a doughnut shop to do that because when you take gluten out of the equation things get a little tricky, especially for doughnuts, but I'm over the moon grateful that they do and that they make them so delicious. Last week, I had a random pregnancy craving for donuts. Now I'm addicted to this hidden gem in Hampton. Honestly, I never eat donuts - maybe like once a year. Sweet stuff for breakfast isn't usually my bag, but the little one said otherwise, so I walked out with a dozen. Have been back three times to pick up more since. Everything has been fantastic - but my favorites are the old fashioned cake donuts - simply perfect in their construction and not super sweet (unless you get the ones with additional icing). They also do a great basic glazed and Boston creme, which amazingly are difficult to do for most places. The salted caramel they use is AMAZEBALLS - I've had it on the regular and the cake style and it's fantastic on both. It's a small little spot - has a back room that they seem to open for moms/kids at times, a few tables up front, and a drive-thru (which is a super cool feature, though I always end up going in to look at all the choices!). The only downside is the selection. Apparently, their process is just to make whatever they make and close when they sell out - so go early. A couple times I've wandered in late and there isn't much to choose from. A pro in that there is always something new and creative in the rotation, a con in that if they are busy you aren't left with much to choose from. I made the mistake once of letting a mom cut in front of me with a small kiddo and they took the ones pregnant me was craving, so I'd recommend NOT being nice if you're worried about selection. Let me just start with these donuts are out of this world. I don't even need to slowly walk into saying it, it's just how it is. When I first was going to go, I called them first and they were sold out. I wasn't even mad, cause it let me know what I was working with here. The next day, I woke up early at my friend's in Hampton and we walked there. (Yeah, it was walking distance...and I wanted my donuts). When I walked in I was greeted by a long line, and some of best sweet scents I'd even had greet my nose. Once I made it to the counter they had glass counters that showed each tray of different types of donuts. By this point I'm drooling okay? They looked so fresh, and the assortment was insane! I love having a large assortment of anything because I can be picky! Lol. Not here though, I immediately had trouble figuring out what NOT to get because I would have went home with everything in the case. Thank God my friend slowed me down lol. I ended up picking 5 donuts....they all looked so fresh, and were carefully put in the box for me. I ended up going to their sister store Baked Bistro to order food there and eat (that's another review...which it was amazing!!!). Once I took the first bite of the cinnamon toast crunch donut I was flabbergasted. I went with that one first because I had to see how week they transferred a cereal box snack into a donut....they blew my mind! The donut was crunchy from the cereal, but once you hit the donut it was utterly soft and delicate. It was insane because it was soft, but still dense in a good way. In a way that you're like "am I eating a hearty donut?" Yes, yes you are. It was utterly delicious, and I gulped it down. Next, I have to speak on maple bacon donut, I'd say this donut should be their iconic flavor because it blew me away. I am not a huge bacon donut person, I've had it a few times here and there...from now on I will only be getting it here. It was just so good that I remember licking the maple from my fingers lol. This place is truly special, I'd advised to wake up early for this gift from the donut and breakfast Gods. It is absolutely worth it, and I would go as far as to say they have the best donuts on Hampton Roads. I would put my reputation behind it, that's how much confidence I have in this place. I can't wait to go back again. Finishing this review I feel it's about time. These donuts are a love letter in food form. read more

We were just looking for a nice local establishment to take our kids for weekend breakfasts. This place did not disappoint! The donuts are phenomenal! The employees are so friendly and kind. They're always patient and help decide what you are in the mood for. They also have some DELICIOUS coffee and all their other goodies are great too. Don't miss out! I give this place a 10/10 for food, service, quality, and ambiance. They're only open from 7am-noon (or until donuts sell out) Wednesday thru Sunday, so if you want them you have to be there when they open because they sell out FAST! read more

Nice selection, so I haven't tried many. The ones I have tried are good slightly rich but I kind of like that because I won't eat a whole dozen lol. Only thing is catching their times also if they sell out they'll close early, good news is if you put your order in early they put it to the side and allow you to pick it up from the bakery next to the shop. Reminds me of a duck donut, the maple bacon and Cinnamon Toast Crunch are my favorites so far! read more

Ok! Can we talk about how absolutely amazing this place is?! I've always been impressed by them but this time they went over and beyond. I ordered a donut cake recently. My husband loves chocolate cream filled donuts which are a rarity these days. I sent in a request to have the holland cream transformed into a chocolate version (which is not on the menu) and they were able to pull it off and it was freaking awesome! I was so impressed and shocked when I showed up and she said she was able to do the chocolate cream. And it gets better, I had ordered a dozen mini donuts as well and she even filled some of them with the chocolate cream! Seriously?! I think the men sitting in there drinking their coffee and eating their donuts thought I was crazy because she literally made my day and I was so excited! Haha. Thank you to the baker for going above and beyond. It meant a lot to me since i've spent so much in there over the years. Glazed Doughnuts in the heart of Hampton just celebrated their one year anniversary and have been kicking butt from day one. But don't be surprised if you've never heard of them they don't advertise. Parking is available in their private lot, as well as street. The lot was clean as well as in front of their door. Signage is excellent to the business. Everything offered is fresh and flies out the door so quickly you may miss out. Not to worry because they offer call ahead. Their signatures are apple fritter & old fashioned. They offer 50% yeast, 50% cake. Breakfast sandwiches are offered and served on a Bismarck doughnut. I loved my egg and bacon. I called ahead and had a dozen paired w/ a house coffee. The donuts were waiting for me when I walked in. Coffee is scrumptious from local Hampton roaster Rogue Elephant. All coffee is served as a pour over. Restroom utilized prior to leaving. We had a really good experience here. It's a really cool hole in the wall spot in downtown Hampton. As we pull up we see a guy walking his dog walk up to a to go window and grab some doughnuts, so that was already a huge plus lol. We walk in at like 8am and there was already a significant line. They have a good amount of seating inside for it being a small place of business. They stay open till 12 or whenever their doughnuts run out. Which I would imagine they close early sometime because their doughnuts are absolutely delish. Call me crazy but I'd say better than duck doughnuts. These cake based doughnuts were great. This place is great! I'm from Pittsburgh so I live for Oakmont Bakery and Prantl's, but I am always looking for something good and this place delivered. Not a huge selection, but who cares! I had one of their famous apple fritters and an apple cake donut with blueberry and strawberry icing and I could barely finish them. These things are huge! I love the freshness, and I appreciate the microwave at the coffee counter so you can warm up what you buy. I tried 15 seconds for both of these and they were perfect! I will be back for sure. Very fun and friendly staff assure a nice experience. The line was out to the door on a Saturday morning, but it moved quick and was worth the wait. We also took some fritters home and warmed them up and topped them off with a little organic Irish butter melted over them. Incredible!!!! These donuts are not to be played with they are divine. If Krispy Kreme fell off the face of the earth Id think nothing of it. We have lived here for three years now and I am upset that we are just finding this place. I eat donuts maybe 4-5 times a year and that's really about it. So when I do have a donut, it's going to be a good place. Specifically, I want a place that has creative flavors, made with love...and they had better be yeast donuts, get that cake away from me! This place knows what they're doing. My go to is a cinnamon sugar, nothing fancy. The sugar as coarse and crunchy, a nice hint of cinnamon, and the inside was as soft as a feather filled pillow. If I could give them 10 stars I would. The customer service and kindness made my heart smile. We had breakfast across the street with the family and my 2 year old daughter Emily. We promised her a donut after brunch. We walked over to Glazed Donuts and they were closed. We told Emily we would have to go somewhere else. We were walking away and the employee brought us out some donuts. Wow! What an act of kindness! I work retail, so I know when you lock that door, you want to keep it locked, Especially on a beautiful weekend day. You guys should advertise better that Sunday doesn't always have vegan donuts unless you pre order. This is the second time I've driven down from VB to be told you all are not making any, though your website says that you make vegan donuts every Saturday & Sunday. I get pre ordering but you also limit your selection on your site on which ones you can pre order. It's not like I'm driving down for one or 2 either I come down and get two dozen each trip. My fiancé and I have been coming to Glazed Doughnuts since we moved to the Hampton area about a year ago. I love that this particular eatery is located in Downtown Hampton. It is tucked away so I would definitely use your GPS! We ordered 4 doughnuts for about $5 (great price). The doughnuts are very big. I felt like it was a great price for what we got. We ordered 2 Glazed doughnuts, 1 Boston creme, and 1 strawberry filled doughnut. The glazed doughnuts tasted great. We will definitely be getting more of these on our next trip. The Boston creme doughnut was good and the strawberry filled one was not my favorite. There were a lot of strawberries in the middle and the combo of icing with the berries was overwhelming. They have plenty of seating on the inside and also have a drive thru! The drive thru is very convenient for people on the go! The eatery offers drinks including coffee, water, and bottled drinks.
