I am very disappointed in Glamour Nails Salon on Alex Bell Road, and I've been a loyal customer for over 5 years. I have recommended people to them, and I've only had one problem over the years, and that was a manicure by Daisy, where she nicked my cuticle, and it bled, and she wasn't very apologetic. I let it go (it was years ago), and they've always accommodated me, and have done polish changes for my daughters and their friends when we've had spa days, etc. They've tried to fit me in last minute when I've been in a rush, and they've redone work when it wasn't quite what I thought it would look like from the sample, etc.
It is with great sadness that I have to write a negative review after all of that. My mom came over this morning and showed me the back of her heel where the owner of the salon had cut (pretty deep) into her heel with the shaving tool that they use during a pedicure. He slapped a band-aid on it, but didn't really apologize at the time. He was too busy arguing with the lady next to her about something unrelated to my mom's service.
When my mom mentioned that it was still bleeding, he attempted to blame her for her cracked heels being the reason that she got cut. So after spending money on a botched pedicure and a ok manicure, and tipping them, she got home to find out that the cut was a lot deeper than she thought. She went this morning to get a tetanus shot (a special one for people over 65) at the third urgent care that she went to. I went over to talk to the owner as soon as they opened. My intention was to get her a refund of the full amount, including tips, and to get an apology from him. She should never have been made to feel like this was somehow her fault!
The owner assured me that there was no one sitting next to my mom and he didn't talk to anyone during her pedicure, and never took his eyes off of her feet during the entire pedicure. I asked, "then how did it happen?" He responded, "I don't know." My question to him was, then you weren't paying attention. If you don't know, you weren't looking."
He ultimately refunded (after some debate about why I wouldn't accept a gift certificate!) part of the money she spent yesterday. And I left him with a card with her name and my address so that he could write her a formal apology.
I understand that mistakes happen, and if he had simply said, "I was wrong. I made a mistake. I wasn't paying attention. What can I do to make this right," you wouldn't be seeing this review.
I feel that he lied to me about how he was distracted, because I believe my mom. I believe that he knows this, and didn't want to admit it. Because of this, not the accident, is why I won't go back. He's lost my trust. He's lost my business. He's lost my referrals. He's lost my respect.
All is not lost though. All he has to do to regain that trust is to write an apology. We'll see if anything comes in the mail. If you are still reading this, nothing's shown up yet!
