Update: I'm bumping my review up to 3 stars because the shop called to try to make the situation right. I will be making another appointment and will reassess once I've gone back.
If I could give 0 stars I would, but I'll do 1 star because the tech next to mine was very sweet.
I had an appointment with this salon on Monday at 530. When I first got there I heard one of the techs say "oh, she made it." I was right on time so I wasn't sure why the comment was made. When I started talking to my tech, I understood it was a comment out of disappointment.
When I started talking to my tech, I asked how he was doing and he said "not great." I asked if he was ok because this is a very bizarre response from someone in a service business, and because I was a bit concerned. He explained he was nauseated and wanted to go home. This is concerning. He then proceeded to tell me that he'd be in at 10 the next morning if I wanted to come back. Did I mention that this was my first time at this salon? Not a good first impression, as my time is just as valuable as yours. He eventually told me why he was nauseated so I deemed it wasn't contagious and stayed. I should have left.
As the appointment proceeded, it just got more awkward. I had made the appointment for acrylic nails. He told me that my nails were in pretty good shape and he didn't want me wasting my money on something I didn't need. I hesitantly agreed.
He asked what color I wanted and I told him I wanted a French tip. He told me he didn't have time for that and if I wanted it I'd have to reschedule. I've been having my nails done for YEARS and have NEVER been told this. It literally takes almost no time to do it. I've watched it done over and over. I now understand that he was the absolute laziest person I've ever experienced in this industry. He didn't feel like doing the French tip or acrylic.
It gets better. He talked about how he needed a muzzle because sometimes he said things he shouldn't say to customers. The tech beside me agreed. The girls beside me were talking about their disdain for car shows and he said something about being "rednecks." It took me off guard because the context in which he said it was bizarre and very rude. Because of my background as a Diversity Analyst, I have very low tolerance for this sort of rude comment.
When I went to pay, I ended up being charged $30 more than what the online quote said, got less of a service because, remember, he was trying to save me money since he didn't think I needed acrylic. I paid it (but shouldn't have). When he went to scan my card he asked me what I wanted to tip. I have never, ever had such a rude nail tech. I thought about not mentioning his name but this guy should not be in this industry. People pay very good (hard earned) money for these services and part of the experience is customer service, especially if the person your servicing is being nice to you.
His name is Patrick. I will never be back. I will make sure everyone I know never wastes their time or money here. I will write a poor review on every form of media I can find. I may not make a difference in this salon but after reading all the other reviews, I'm not the only one who had a bad experience and if enough of us leave bad reviews, eventually people will notice.
FYI, I paid almost $90 for a soak off, gel polish, really horrible customer service, and sh*tty looking nails that weren't even and were clumpy in spots. This is my mistake. Won't make it again. read more
