First, I must premise this updated review by stating that I am VERY loyal when it comes to nails salons. I was with the same person/salon for over 8 years prior to moving to Austin and have been with Nikki at Glamour for about 8 months. I thought I was so fortunate to have found Nikki to do my nails. She was fast - which I liked - and did what seemed to be good job...very natural looking...exactly how I like them...but they frequently lifted. It wasn't until an interaction a couple of weeks ago, after trying to book nails and pedicure at the same time 5 days prior and being treated, quite frankly, really really rudely (not the first time) and being dismissed and told "just come in and we do whenever...nails first...pedicure first..." that I decided it was time to try a new place. I wasn't asking for any special treatment. Glamour nails had done both at the same time on several previous occasions.
I'm very glad I tried a different place. It opened my eyes. I didn't realize that I had remained a loyal customer of Glamour simply because I settled for someone who wasn't horrible.
After visiting the new salon, I realized many things that had been unsatisfactory during my many visits to Glamour that for whatever reason I had just accepted.
As I mentioned before, my acrylics frequently lifted, including my most recent visit, and Nikki blamed it on my oily nails. She insisted that was the problem even after I told her I've never had an issue before (in about 20 years - and guess what, haven't had problems since). Her appreciated speed came with the price of her cutting my skin and doing a subpar job. The pedicures were always kind of meh. The chairs are broken and do not message. Also, I never received or was offered any "special" types of pedicures (e.g., no hot stone message, etc.). My last pedicure from Glamour lasted about a week and it was "because my polish is old" - I always take in my own and it was a brand new bottle from a brand new Essie collection. Another excuse.
In the end, it kind of saddens me to have to write a not so stellar updated review for Glamour. Despite the fact that I heard them talk bad about other customers, Nikki was nice to me most of the time...typing that makes me realize just how much I was settling - "most of time!" Customers should be treated nicely all of the time! I'm certain Nikki will refer to me as "crazy lady" when she sees this updated review as those are some of her choice words. The salon is always jam packed, so I'm certain they won't miss my business at all - they have a very large clientele of people who live in Steiner Ranch. 3 stars, A-OK because if you're in the area and are in desperate need of some nail work, Glamour isn't the worst salon I've ever been to...just simply not "Yay, I'm a fan!" and definitely not "Woohoo! As good as it gets!" Again, if you are desperate...this is not a recommendation or positive endorsement.
Despite the negative things I experienced and just put up with I still feel...sad...like I'm breaking up an 8 month relationship. Bye bye Glamour! Could improve a little on customer service and quality of work. Just be nice, stop gossiping about customers, and slow down a bit. Wish you the best! read more
