Gina has been doing my hair since High School so it only made sense that I would ask her to do my Hair and makeup for my wedding, and I am so glad I did! When I went for my trial I hardly had to tell her anything! I showed her a picture of a hair style I really liked and she knew exactly what to do. The day of she was amazing from morning to when I walked down the aisle! She was so calming in the bridal sweet and it was one of the only things I was not worried about on the big day. I had a special hair accessory that I wanted in my hair and to stay there all day and she made sure it was secure in my hair and above my veil. I also encourages my entire bridal party to use her as well, and they all agreed! All of them looked AMAZING and I could not have asked for a better experience! Before finding Gina we researched a large number of make-up artists. Gina was our first choice and I must say we are very picky. Gina is awesome! One bridesmaid wanted her hair in braids and Gina was able to fulfill what she wanted. 2 other bridesmaids weren't sure what to do with their hair and Gina was able to do their hair in a way that it matched the style of their dresses! (I had only asked them to get the same color, so they had different necklines for their dresses). Our makeup was wonderful. I felt beautiful. I have had people do my makeup before and I was a little nervous, but Gina had consulted with me and knew what I wanted. Again, Gina is great at what she does and is a wonderful person. I am so happy to have had Gina as my hair and makeup artist for our wedding this past October 2013! The short version: Gina is super nice, very responsive, and a highly talented and versatile professional! Hire her for your wedding ASAP. The long version: Our photographer referred us to Gina. At that point in the wedding planning I was a destination bride, so we actually hired Glamorous Brides without an in-person meeting beforehand! We ended up scheduling a hair and makeup trial the month before the wedding while I was in town visiting. Luckily, it went wonderfully! Gina is a lovely person, warm and funny and sweet. She also happens to be exceedingly talented! In addition, she really listened to my input and feedback, which was very important to me. I used to do theater and feel comfortable doing my own makeup, but my desire in hiring Gina was to ensure I didn't have to stress over doing it on my wedding day, and that the heavier makeup would 'read' properly both in person and later in our professional photographs. I opted for the airbrush makeup that Gina offers, and I was very pleased with its look and lasting power! We also had Gina handle hair and makeup for my four bridesmaids. I wanted them to feel comfortable and beautiful, and Gina helped us all to achieve both! She was great to work with and joke around with the morning of the wedding, while still being very on top of our hair and makeup timeline. In addition, each of my bridesmaids had a completely different skin tone and style, which was a point of concern to me while searching for a professional hair and makeup artist. You are suppose to feel your prettiest on your wedding day and let me tell you...Gina did just that and more!!!! She listened to what I wanted, took time not only on me but all my six bridesmaid, my mom and mother-in-law. Hello! Happy to be the first to write a review about Glamorous Brides in Encinitas, CA. I contacted Gina Mertz (owner) about two weeks prior to my wedding asking for airbrush makeup on the day of. She confirmed her availability and said she would send through a standard contract for my review. I receive it from Gina two days after our call and I immediately sent her a signed copy (which I would assume means something!!). Then I told her I'd call her with my CC details! Tried her 4 TIMES that day and zero answer (she's never never available to speak). The morning after, she sends me an email saying she never heard from me re: payment and booked another bride! Mind you, she took 2 days to send through her meaningless contract, and couldn't wait 15hrs for a payment after the contract was signed. Obviously, this has put me in a big bind being 1 week out from the wedding. Do not let this happen to you.... go to someone else!!!!!!! Last weekend, Gina did hair and make-up for my daughter's wedding including the bride, six bridesmaids and two mothers - everyone was DELIGHTED. We all looked fabulous (if I say so myself!) and the bride was beautiful. Gina also did her hair and make-up for the bridal portrait, which was amazing - you can see the photo at Gina's website. My mother-in-law found Gina online while searching for places to have her hair and make up done on my wedding day. After seeing pictures of her work and researching her pricing I was thinking of having my make up done by her as well. As the wedding got closer my original hair stylist, who my mother and I have been clients of for years, told us she would not be able to come on site to do our hair. We panicked and Gina graciously accommodated us.I was nervous to have my hair done by someone I had never met but when I met with her to do the consultation a few days before the wedding my nerves were settled when I realized how amazing she was at her craft. She did my bridal make up and hair, 2 mother's hair and make up as well as 4 bridesmaid's hair and make up. My mom has even switched from her old stylist and permanently sees Gina for her hair now. I would highly recommend Gina to anyone looking for bridal hair and make up! She is so sweet and genuine and has a great way of making you feel calm even during the chaos a wedding can cause. She stayed until I was all the way down the aisle, just in case I needed a touch up which I ended up needing after my Dad and brother saw me for the first time, I guess Gina made me so beautiful that they were moved to tears which of course made me cry, I ran back to Gina and she fixed me up right before the ceremony started.
