I had to write a review because the current rating doesn't remotely give this place justice! We came in on a Friday night. Johnny was outside singing BEAUTIFULLY (which we found out he does most Friday nights when not traveling). All service staff were amazing. The host, bussers, and server all made sure we were taken care of from start to finish. At the end the manager even came out and checked in on us. The portions were huge, delicious, and very reasonably priced. The giant overhead heater outside does a wonderful job at keeping you warm as it starts to get chilly (& so does the wine). The service was good. Location and atmosphere was good. Food was just ok. We ordered stuff mushrooms and got a tiny mushroom under a mountain of mush. The pizza was was undercooked in the middle and floppy but the flavor was there. Thank goodness the wine was tasty. read more

We really enjoyed this place. It has an optional outdoor covered seating area. Heaters are available for chilly nights and someone was playing guitar and singing in the patio area. Food, was great. First time going and I will be going back! Food was delicious and so were the drinks. I had the Italian comfort drink and artichoke bruschetta appetizer from the happy hour menu. For dinner I had the chicken carbonara. The menu listed pork carbonara, but I requested chicken and they complied with my request with no problem. The complementary bread was delicious. I was too stuffed to make it to dessert. The staff was nice and attentive. I went around 430pm on a weekday after work and it wasn't crowded at all. read more

Came to Giuseppe's today for a birthday lunch. Things went well until the entrees came. Two of the entrees were prepared beautifully. My entree, (Pork Carbonara) was overcooked, burned around the edges, dry, and very chewy. We got our server's attention. I explained what was wrong, and she offered to have the kitchen remake my entree. It took well over 20 minutes to bring me a properly prepared order. During this time there was no offer to bring me anything while I waited. By the time the replacement order came, the other two members of my party were finished eating. While I waited, another employee commented how the entree should never have been served that way, and because I'd been there before (I hadn't) I should have known how it was usually served. Regardless of her incorrect assumptions, I was presented with nearly inedible food. The server did nothing to make the long wait less irritating, and the editorial comment from the other employee was presumptuous and off-putting. This was a birthday lunch was spoiled by the actions/inactions of several restaurant staffers. There was no offer of any complimentary item or adjustment to the bill for the inconvenience they created. We were on our way to the sports bar when we saw the patio at Guiseppe's and decided to to it instead. They were busy but managed to give us a patio table. Service was slower than anticipated however they were busy and staff was hustling so won't ding for that. Food is good value for the price but what made the evening nice and waiting time easy was the live music. I could have sat there the entire evening. OK, it's been a while, however, my wife and I were in the mood for a Giuseppe's evening. We had a nice table outdoors, we ordered, and then... the nosedive began. The bread service was nice, the drink for my wife was fine, can't go wrong with a Tito's and club soda. My 1/2 price Nebbiolo was off and very sharp, should have sent it back. Maybe that's why it was 1/2 off! The second glass, a Montepulciano , was simply OK. Bad night for wine? Yep, I think so. The mushroom appetizer didn't arrive until after our split Caesar. A screwup in the kitchen(?). Whatever the reason, the dish( a house specialty) was unremarkable. Our waiter did sort of apologize .As for the Caesar, it was pleasant but definitely not a large Caesar split. The Chicken Marsala split was fine but the three or so sautéed spinach leaves in the pasta-I think wife actually had two- was disappointing. The chicken was a bit over cooked but the sauce was OK. The waiter was, again, OK. Pleasant but a bit off in attentiveness and timing. Oh, and my lovely wife looked away for a moment as the dishes were cleared and, lo and behold, her unfinished Tito's and soda had been whisked away. Oh no, bad move. Good thing this was her second Tito's... Hey folks, this is not our first time to this restaurant rodeo. We've had excellent service and really good meals in the last. Not tonight. First I want to say that everyone enjoyed their meal. Our meals were good, antipasto salad was also good but the calamari reminded me of frozen food. The service on the other hand was terrible. We arrived about 12 PM and there were very few customers. The waitress never took a drink order and after bringing our appetizers she took another 20 to 30 minutes to take our food order. I've been going to Guiseppe's for years and it has always been excellent until yesterday evening. We had the Pork Carbonara and the Pena pasta. The Pork Carbonara was not even warm when served. Had to return the dish. The pork itself was overcooked and chewy. Even difficult to cut with a knife. The carbonara was tasteless. I will say the Pena pasta didn't disappoint. The restaurant wasn't busy and the staff did a fine job. For a restaurant that prides itself on "home made" meals I suggest that the owner spend some time in the kitchen to sample their "home cooked" food for quality read more

I ate at the original Oracle location yesterday and we had a Mother's Day Dinner at the new Harrison and 22nd restaurant. I lived in the area since '76 and eaten at Giuseppe's a lot. Was very disappointed to stop by for a meal and find only one table(2 ladies) occupied. Was shone to a table by the bartender, at least he cleaned a lot of glasses while I watched. The Server glanced over twice but continued her discussions with the two ladies. I don't understand why some people would come on Yelp and complain as the previous reviewer did. If I had a severe allergy to cheese, I would not be sloppy when checking my meal- if you look at this persons reviews he brings it up over and over- I'm sure the manager refunded your money and to make it right, however, it takes a tough individual to work with the public. Guiseppe's is a consistently good restaurant. We come here for lunch every few weeks. The salad is always fresh, with tender greens and perfectly dressed. The chicken parmesan sandwich has two cutlets, pounded thin, breaded and fried. There is a generous amount of sauce and cheese. It is served with the top of the loaf, but I'm not sure about trying to pick it up, so I just eat it open-face. They include a steak knife on the plate, so I'm guessing I'm not the only knife-and-fork guy out there. The sandwiches include salad or parmesan potato chips. I always spring for both. Those potatoes are delicious. My wife ordered the eggplant parmesan and said it was some of the best she could remember eating. The eggplant was firm, yet tender and no bitterness at all. Like the chicken parmesan, it was nicely breaded and fried and served with their delicious sauce and cheese. I've always found the service to be excellent. The wait staff are very professional and efficient. BTW, if you don't like Frank Sinatra, be warned that it's the only thing that they play on the music system. Fortunately for me, I like Frank. Not sure I could work there though, since even a lunch visit has Love and Marriage stuck in my head for the rest of the day. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. First off I live in Catalina, a solid 30 min drive. I wanted a cheat meal and wanted the Rigatoni Bolognese. It was really good the first time I had it. I called in a pick up order and specifically said NO CHEESE, severe dairy allergy. He said he would notate it, evidently he didn't because when I got home, found cheese all over my Rigatoni Bolognese. There is obviously absolutely no communication between FOH and BOH, if you have food allergies, avoid this place because the obviously don't care about if their customers survive eating their food... and to top it all off I placed the order with the manager, I was too upset to get his name when I called back... who ever manages the yelp page... your restaurant is giving the vibe they do not care when you tell them you have an allergy. And this isn't a "sensitivity", I am anaphylactic allergic to milk products so had I eaten this I would have gone to the ER... looks like They don't care. read more

We reserved a table on short notice for Sat night. Place was hopping with a large number of big holiday parties. Staff was excellent from the manager to our waiter Evan. Evan recommended a couple of great entrees that were truly delicious, an Italian Pinot and dessert which (bursting at the seams) we declined. The staff worked well together taking away dirty plates and refilling water. Excellent value for the money while not mistaking quality for quantity. Big portions with big flavor. This great Tucson tucked away Italian restaurant features home cooked Italian with my favorite - the very best Eggplant Parmigiana in Tucson... I get it every time ! My husband loves the napa salad, and meat eating friends are just as happy. Its a place you can bring a group of mixed eaters from veggie, fish or meat all delicious ! Of course I have to comment on the beautiful art that enhances the walls, and creates such a lovely ambience. I see people celebrating birthdays , anniversaries even wedding receptions there and I can understand why... because its terrific. Guiseppe's is tucked in the corner of the plaza and has a very unique patio seating. A local Italian restaurant which are VERY few in Tucson. I have my likes and dislikes on their dishes. My husband enjoys their fettuccine Alfredo pasta. For me consistency isn't there yet. One time the mussels were great and another time way over cooked and tasted frozen. Either way it's one of our friend's go to places so we will sure be back for our double dates. read more

Service was pretty good until entrees were delivered, then we never saw our waiter again until 15-20 minutes after we were done and ready to pay the bill. Another server alerted him and he finally came by and then took another 10-15 minutes to bring the check. Never did ask if our dinners were ok. Everything did seem homemade but just not very flavorful. Chicken Marsala had very faint Marsala flavor. Chicken Madeira also a little blah. Went to this restaurant on Valentine's Day with another couple. Being from NY, I had my doubts about the authenticity of food from an Italian restaurant in the great Southwest. I shouldn't have had doubts. The pasta dishes were fantastic, and the pizza was perfect in crust and content. Mozzarella cheese was on our dishes, and was moist and fresh. I also liked the fresh grated Parmesan cheese added to our dishes, right from the brick. Prices were very reasonable. Would definitely recommend this restaurant. read more

Wonderful! I checked this place out while I was staying nearby for business. I ate at the bar but the restaurant looked well staffed. It was a Wednesday evening about an hour before they closed and I saw 3 different waiters plus the bartender. I ordered the dinner special and it was amazing. It was veal layered in mozzarella with prosciutto, smothered in a vodka cream sauce atop linguine. Good lord it was delicious. I have been here twice the same week I found this place. Awsome!!! Had the chicken parm sandwich the first time. HUGE!!! Comes with a salad for $7.50. Could only eat half of the sandwich it was so big. Great job Giuseppe's. The second visit I had the pesto salad. A bed of mixed greens with bow tie pasta, grilled chicken in a pesto sauce. Another winner. Left overs again. Took a peek at the wine list. Good selection and the price are very reasonable. Can't wait to try dinner there. read more

Overall a very good experience. Six of us enjoyed excellent service and because we got there earlier than expected we had happy hour starters and good wine at wine store prices. Excellent antipasto plate and stuffed mushrooms. Nice old school atmosphere. Plates are generous and beautifully presented, cheeses good quality. However Red sauces are rather thin, not robust.
