So when I first moved into my townhouse I needed a lot of stuff done since it was a foreclosure. First off the garage door opener needed replacing. This was my tester for Brian Dingman and his services. I gave him only access to my garage and asked him to close the garage when he was done. The job was done properly and when I came home I was able to drive right on in. This set the foundation between myself and the services provided by Git-R-Dun. The next batch of tasks was a big bundle of junk. I needed mirrors hung, molding replaced, ceiling fans switched out, installing a toilet fan, and just a lot of random handyman stuff. All of these tasks were handled with much care and promptness. At this point, Brian had gained my trust and it was time to tackle some bigger jobs. The next 4 things were bigger items that I was unsure he was capable of performing them. The first was building a bar from scratch underneath my staircase, creating a custom shower with seat and extra shower-head, back-splash in my kitchen, and installing recess lighting in all of my bathrooms. Let's just say I was VERY happy with all of his work. Pics will be posted of the craftsmanship. Now why did I review him now? All of his activities were done prior to yelp, but since then I have searched yelp for another handyman since I haven't worked with him in awhile but no such luck so I went ahead and gave him a call again. I really like David N and trust his judgment. So, when I needed my garage door motor fixed (you know, that thing that's on the garage ceiling that makes life easier), I went to Yelp and checked out garage door openers. David's review came up and I immediately called Git-R-Dun services. Brian answered and met me at my house within an hour. I was impressed with his speed and was excited that my garage might be back to laziness mode within the day. Unfortunately, Brian didn't seem to know anything about garage door motors. He began to play around with the motor and ended up almost making things worse. He insisted that he could 'figure it out'. After a while he wrote some numbers down off of the motor and said he wanted us to search the internet together. He was very nice so I went ahead with the idea. Long story and an hour later, Brian doesn't know really anything about garage door motor repairs. He wasted a lot of time and kept insisting he could work it out. I appreciate that there are mechanical people out there, but know your limitations. I ended up calling Southwest Garage Door. They knew EXACTLY what was wrong and fixed it the next day. It was a 30 minute job and they had the parts with them when they arrived. If I had stayed with Brian, I might still be trying to 'work it out'. I do think Brian has skills as a contractor and bathroom renovator. If that's your need, try him out. But, don't call him for a garage door. read more

You get what you pay for. So I contracted Git-R-Done in the summer of 2013 to get two large windows installed. The price seemed great and it looked ok. About four months later the windows were leaking like crazy so he came out to fix it (it wasn't the windows itself but right around the border where the windows were installed, so it wasn't a manufacturing defect, it was an installation error). After he fixed it, it started leaking AGAIN 6 months after that. So he came out the second time again to fix it. Each time he came to re-fix the windows it took some time and coordination to meet up. I had to get off early from work each time and had to clean up and retouch up parts that needed to be patched. It was obviously a hassle and I decided to maintain my review because he was willing to come out. It was annoying to coordinate because he wasn't getting paid for this job so he would have to take care of his paying jobs before fixing this job first as well as coordinate with his other worker. During this time, I had to put up buckets and towels to prevent more rain from leaking into my son's room while I wait for his schedule to open up. So after 2x of leaking and Brian promising that the windows were sealed completely.... it leaked AGAIN the 3rd time last night. I know it was his poor attention to detail because we had two windows installed. The left window was perfectly dry, the one on the right was leaking, so he must have forgotten to do something on the window on the right. While Git-R-Done might be good for other jobs, windows are not in his scope of expertise. His attention to detail is poor and I had to clean up and even touch up his sloppy work afterwards to make it look professional (I had to sand down and even re-plaster the wall in certain areas). While I know Brian will come back for a 3rd time, I refuse to use him again because even though he'll come out to fix it again for free, I don't trust his workmanship anymore. read more

Pros - charges a Very reasonable price, and does a great job. Cons - not a 100% "turnkey" operation. Several visits, and a few things we asked him to fine-tune, which he was happy to do. We were putting our house on the market and needed to get a bunch of small jobs finished before the house was ready. Complicating this was the the fact that we only had a week before we moved to our new home in another state. We called Git-R-Dun hoping that they could finish some of the carpentry jobs that I'd started, leaving us free to focus on repainting. Brian came out and, after looking over everything we needed to complete, suggested that we let him run with it. He could be much more efficient if he took responsibility for the whole project instead of working around us. We agreed. He started immediately the next morning; painted the entire interior of the house and fixed all the little open projects - all in about 5 days. Talking to Brian over the phone and just getting an estimate done was a waste of time. Didn't seem to want come over to view a small project and give me an estimate. Instead gave me a very unreasonable price over the phone and not seeing the issue for something that probably be done in few hours or less. I am extremely disappointed and upset. Brain and a young lady came to see about a plumbing issue. He was recommended by someone from the landlord's office on a personal matter with her home. He wasn't licensed to do the work so he contacted a subcontractor to come and fix the leak and the guys showed up 2 hours later from the schedule time that was agreed. To find out that the repairs were temporary and just patched up. The bigger problem is that my son woke me up this morning(3/20/17) to inform me that the men had went through his chifferobe with their greasy hands and went through his luxury items and stole his $600 watch and $200 Burberry credit card holder. They literally opened all his boxes and went through everything. They stole a red mop bucket as well. When I contacted the landlord, she tried contacting Brian. I have texted Brian 3 times and she has called him and we still have not heard from him. I expect Brian, being the general contractor to do the right thing and get in touch with his men to return the items. I have given them chances to return the items but to no reveal. This is extremely unprofessional, criminal and I will post everywhere until my son get his personal belongings back. read more

I contacted Brian to get a smaller job down at my house. I know it was not a big money maker for him but it was also something that could be done quickly that I just didn't have the tools for. He came out and gave me an estimate that I thought was much higher than it should have been but I agreed to it. Well I guess it didn't matter because he said he would call back to set up a time to get it done and he never did. I ended up using a different contractor that charged me less than HALF of what he was going to. My advice is to stay away! read more

I called Brian this afternoon at 2pm with a heater that wasn't working & a hot circuit breaker, not wanting to spend another night freezing. He rearranged his schedule to fit me in, was a straight-shooter, had a great sense of humor and was very honest about our situation and what needed to be done. I would highly recommend Brian and the crew at Git-R-Dun Services - and I will use them again. Communication before and during the job was fantastic. The experience that Brian brought to the table helped us intelligently plan for the job. He asked us good questions about supplies and what our vision for the bathroom was. During the job, Brian and the guys were available on phone, and let us know their eta for arrival and their plan for work to be done each day. Clean. At every step of the process, the guys doing the work were friendly, professional and clean. They laid down plastic and paper before the demolition and vacuumed and cleaned before they left every night. Fast. When they were on site, they were working. The guys doing work had pride in their work and were family men - you could tell that they wanted to do the best job they could and then get home to their families. When the job was done we had to really get close to find any issue with workmanship. We found just a couple of small spots in the grout that needed filling, and Brian fixed it before signing off on the job. We were picky! What we had done: 1974 ranch bathroom redo - replace floor with tile, replace tub, replace vanity, replace toilet, replace tile around shower. Time from start to finish: 4 days Price was very fair. I recently renovated my kitchen, including moving some of the appliances around. I hired Brian for installation of a new gas line, a new water line, installing a hood fan where there was none previously (and that needed to be vented out the attic), removal of old appliances, and installation of new ones. Brian and his crew also took care of pulling out the old tile, and installing new tile throughout the kitchen, bathroom, and laundry room. Brian tried to keep things as tidy as possible, which is appreciated when living in the middle of a reno. He brought in a licensed plumber and electrician when required, and also brought in some expert tile installers that did a beautiful job of the tile. When we ran into the unforseen difficulties, as happens on most jobs, Brian was able to come up with solutions to make things work. He and his team would also put in long hours, trying to get the job done as quickly as possible. Brian's prices are very reasonable, and he did a great job of sticking to his original estimate. Brian did a sliding door installation project for us. We wanted the door put in, opening to our back yard, where there was previously a double window. He was able to work around our busy schedule to set up a bid. Since we were planning to purchase the door ourselves, he helped us narrow down our search and recommended what he thought was the best choice. We ended up going with his choice and got a fabulous door with blinds between the panes which is working perfectly. The installation was very professional looking. He was able to perfectly match our outdoor trim. He also made the opening for the door work seamlessly with the style of our home. All of the openings for doors and windows have curved edges and he was able to match it seamlessly. Best of all, we stuck to budget and we actually ended up slightly under his estimate for materials. We hired Brian to work on the upstairs of a new home we recently purchased. The timeline was tight (of course) but we managed to get several people out to provide quotes first. Brian's quote wasn't the cheapest, but it was clear as he walked us through it that he had the best ideas on tackling the problems. He sent Dave out to do the work. Dave was good too and Brian stayed in close touch, both in person and by phone, to make sure everything ran smoothly. At one point, Dave turned on the faucet in the upstairs bath and noticed it was leaking (not part of the original list of projects). Dave called Brian and they both checked the ceilings and wall to make sure no permanent damage was done, given that we had no idea how long the problem had existed, and then they worked to fix it. I have pocket doors and one of the pieces broke to the bathroom door which made it unable to close. I was having guests for the weekend and REALLY needed it to be fixed. I scheduled an appointment for Brian to come over. He couldn't get the part until the following week, so I suggested taking the part from my bedroom closet door for a "work around" until he was able to come back with the part. I called to get my shower grout redone. A man named Leeland was sent to work on the job. It was specified that he was going to remove all of the old grout and put new grout between the shower tiles. After a couple hours, he said he had to wait for it to dry before he could polish it, so I went to see how it looked. He clearly had not removed all of the old grout. When asked, he stated he did but it was apparent in numerous areas that there was old grout left. I pointed out the areas which he did attempt to fix. He said it would look better once it dried. Days later it is clear he did not remove the grout because the color of the grout he placed is remarkably darker/different from the previous. It can be easily seen where he attempted to cover the old grout that was meant to have been removed. I called and left a message for Brian that same day, and have yet to hear back. He did a very sloppy and messy job all together and we will not be using this company again for the numerous other projects we have to do. read more

Brian did a bathroom remodel for us a few months ago. This was a total, strip down to the studs and redo job. I rated Brian 5 stars because he does exactly what he says he is going to do, for the price he says he is going to do it for. And that is a rare thing for small contractors. Brian (and those he brought with him for certain parts of the job) were nice, easy to communicate with, behaved professionally, were conscious of good housekeeping, and respectful of "life" that continued on around them in the house. He did a good job preparing an estimate of costs and stuck to it, when there were problems along the way, and there were a few, he never hesitated to rip it out and start again if need be. If you are looking for someone that works hard, is fair, does good work, and is flexible for small home improvement jobs I would recommend Brian highly. If you are looking for very high end craftsmanship, with expensive materials, and a completely turn-key job where you turn it over to the contractor on day one, and then not talk to them again until its finished and its perfect, Brian may not be your guy. Just remember, that last thing I described, you will pay TWICE what you will pay Brian for that AND you are likely to get what the contractor wants it to look like, not what YOU want it to look like. The two biggest endorsements that I can give Brian are: 1. Brain is a good honest guy, someone worthy of trust and that you will be comfortable having him in your house. 2. Short Story - Brain did a great job of transforming my ugly poorly laid out kitchen into an elegant one at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend Git-R- Dun Services. Long Story - I needed to remodel the kitchen in my house (in South Houston). I went out for bids to a number of contractors (one of which was on Angie's List). Git-R-Dun was the least expensive. I looked at the reviews of the contractors and decided to go with Git-R-Dun. The project was larger than what they normally do but this didn't phase Brian. The project involved demolishing the old kitchen, two closets, a load bearing wall and a good portion of the existing tile. They threw quite a few people at this project in the beginning and got the demo done with quickly. They then built a new closet, a large pantry, installed all of the Ikea cabinets and island, and elsewhere in the house added a large master bedroom closet and a new utility room. There were a few design problems that we discovered and some project scope changes. All of these were dealt with swiftly. The scope changes (new doors, additional rooms painted) were all done at bargain prices (no price gouging here). I was impressed how they dealt with the load bearing wall (all structural work was above the ceiling giving the kitchen a nice open feel). Felix the foreman was very easy to work with. Their electrician had common sense (unlike other electricians I've dealt with). Their tile guy did a great job on the slate tile and the backsplash. The workers were friendly, happy and respectful. I suppose there is an area for improvement they could make. It took a bit longer than I expected to get this all wrapped up especially after the impressive start. But some of that had to do with me being out of town quite a bit and because part of the project involved getting gas service routed to the house (working with the city and the gas company is known to be a hassle). But all that is pretty minor stuff. I was very happy with the project. I would definitely consider Git-R-Dun for my next project. I'll post pictures when I figure out how to do this.
