The tech they sent out was very knowledgeable. Not only did he install a new kitchen GCFI, he also located the short that kept shutting off my refrigerator light. He couldn't repair it but at least he was able to establish it wasn't The GCFI - Something one of those online appliance repair companies said "give us $106 and we'll send a guy out to diagnose your problem", couldn't do. I had a bad experience trying to work with Madras Electrical, it was like pulling teeth trying to talk to the person answering the phone they seemed completely disinterested in helping me and when I finally convinced them to try to do a survey they said they don't do the Houston area even though I was inside the coverage area of the map shown on yelp. Kevin and Mercedes have both been to our home on two occasions to install a slew of lighting around our home. After Harvey came through and left a little over two and a half feet of water in our home, almost no part of our home was left untouched when it had to be redone and we also had a chance to do some upgrades as well and they were very helpful with both. Before they came in, they had also done some great work for us 3 years. They had installed some recessed lighting in our kitchen and living room, and we had never had problem with the work. Before starting the job, we had researched the look and items we wanted installed, but as we walked the job with Kevin on the initial consultation, we were grateful to have his honest opinions and considerations when it came to styles and price that would work best in that room, whether it was more or less expensive than what we were asking for. So in the first trip out they did lighting above and below our cabinets, recessed lighting in our closets, bathrooms, secondary bedrooms, and hallways. Installed pendants over the kitchen bar and 3 sconces in the master bath. They also switched out all our switches for more updated ones and put dimmers in some rooms. In my laundry room, Kevin had to move the electrical in one wall to make room for a pocket door an install a new lighting switch on another wall. The next time, unfortunately one of our upper cabinet lights was not working anymore, as well as a recessed light in the bathroom, so Kevin took care of it no problem. The rest of the job entailed us changing our mind on the lights over the bar, and so Kevin had to switch them out with another set. Also, hang the pendant over the breakfast room table, the recessed lights in our master bedroom, and install a bluetooth component to a bathroom fan and new switch for the fan. We still have more work for him to do, but you know how construction goes. But if you need a team for electrical that is reliable and does excellent work, and you can trust what they suggest, this is your team. read more

I booked an appointment and their new employee, Derek, showed up right on time. This guy knows his stuff! Got a motion sensor outdoor light installed in place of a regular front door light. Also had a couple outlets checked and one had to be replaced. Derek made quick but competent work of all tasks. One outdoor task had to be postponed due to weather and again, Derek showed up exactly on time, and put a second light up in just a few minutes. Derek was also nice enough to answer questions about other areas in my home, and what certain light bulbs could be used for. This company was recommended to me and I highly recommend them as well. I needed to add a NEMA 14-50 outlet in the garage for charging my BMW i3. The quote that I received thru email was very reasonable. They called me to letting me know that Kevin was on the way and he arrived on time, finished the work fast and kept the work area clean. The final cost came out to be lower than the email quote and I was also able to use a coupon from their website which made the final cost at least $50 lower than the other electricians. We were having problems with our GFI outlet tripping every time we plugged in anything outside or it rained, so we called Madaras Electrical. The electrician came on time and stayed to answer any questions about anything electrical in our house. He replaced the GFI outlet and an outer outlet cover. He tested the outside flood lights and determined that a couple of them were no longer good. He advised us about how to avoid tripping the GFI - wrapping connections outside so no moisture will get in. He also checked a flickering light in the garage and fixed that! I can't say enough regarding the excellent service provided by Kevin and Mike of Madaras Electrical. They arrived on time for our scheduled appointment to trouble shoot an electrical problem that would cause a shock when metal was touched in our outdoor kitchen. Unfortunately, it was necessary to climb into a quite small space under a sink and beside a refrigerator to access the electrical boxes, but Kevin accomplished this with ease and good attitude even in the Houston heat. After finding the problem he was able to apply some creative ingenuity and he devised a solution to fix the problem. Two weeks ago I scheduled an appointment for this company to come out and give us a quote for kitchen electrical. I called today to check on our appointment and Mercedes answered the phone. She is very rude and abrupt. She told me that there is a "3 hour window" and that appointments are for "PAYING CUSTOMERS"! I told Mercedes that the nature of "free quotes" is to gain business and this company is not the only company that gives "free quotes" everyone does it. Mercedes then told me that they can not pass up appointments with paying customers just to come out and give a "free quote"! Mercedes should not be allowed to answer the phone nor book "appointments or quotes". This company has a lot to learn about customer service.
