Starting off I just wanted to say I was glad they were open on Easter. Walking in you definitely get the family restaurant vibe, and that was a great feeling. Looking at the menu you definitely have quite a bit of options as far as food goes. The waitress we had was very warm and gave amazing service. The price point may scare some people, but you definitely get your bargain for your buck. The food was delicious and served hot, and the service was just as great. Hard to mess up a chicken Caesar salad but they did. Service was lacking also. Won't be back.

Waitress was wonderful. Food not good. Chicken Alfredo pizza had maybe 1 chunk of chicken on each slice of pizza. The pepperoni pizza had 8 pepperonis on a large pizza. Little Caesars would have been better. read more

I usually just get pepperoni pizzas because that's what the kids like. But today, I got their Greek pizza. Absolutely incredible... Lots of toppings, cooked perfectly, really good ingredients, and best of all completely reasonably priced. A pizza from Papa John's or Pizza Hut with the same amount of toppings would be almost twice as much. Super impressed with this place, I will never go anywhere else for pizza. Terrible food. We are here today and two of us ordered a steak sandwich and they was burnt. I had a meatball sub and my bread was near black. They also do not offer any type of bread or pre meal items. My girlfriend got a Pepsi as her drink but it was flat as if someone had shaken it before serving us. read more

I hate to make any complaint about this place because they are such pleasant people, but the food is never great. I keep "trying again", but it's always the same. The food isn't bad, but it's not good either. Well, that's mostly true. The chicken wings are absolutely terrible. If everywhere else is closed, eat here. Order either the lobster ravioli in Alfredo or the pizza. These are the best things they do and they are just passable as something to fill your belly. They don't do anything outstandingly well and that's a shame. Can't recommend them. read more

The salads that came with our meals weren't much, mine was mostly the center of a head of iceberg lettuce with one slice of tomato and a few croutons and some green pepper and onion. The bottom of the bowls were full of water which we didn't realize until after putting our dressing on the salads so when we tried to pour out the water we poured out our now watered down dressing. The pasta dishes, I had fettuccine Alfredo and my husband manicotti, were okay. Not great, but not terrible either. The main issue I have is with the roach that crawled across the back of the booth while waiting to pay our bill. read more

This is a hidden gem, we love the food, the staff is usually really attentive. Some of the younger waitresses in the past are slow and seem to forget a request for extra napkins, more drink, etc. Maybe because we're not in our twenties anymore. The more mature waitresses are overly helpful and we appreciate that so much. We normally don't stray from our regular entree's but just once, this time I ordered a burger. Incredible food! I went to dinner there tonight with 2 friends who had also never been here. One of them used to live in Italy. I ordered the Mixed Pasta Platter and they ordered calzones. We stopped by Giovanni's for a quick lunch and were very pleasantly impressed. The service was friendly and efficient. I had the Meatball Parmigiana sandwich with a side salad. I requested the house balsamic dressing which was very good-well seasoned, plus an excellent balsamic flavor. The lettuce and salad veggies were fresh and crisp, but not soaking wet. The sandwich was very good and came on one of the best fresh made Italian style rolls that I have ever had with a meatball sub. The sauce was fresh, flavorful and a perfect proportion-not overwhelming and just the right amount to compliment the meatballs and bread. The sandwich also had lots of cheese and the meatballs were not full of gristle or other undesirable meatball mysteries which one finds in store bought frozen meatballs. These were actually fantastic meatballs and a perfect firmness for a sandwich. My friend had the Beef Gyros Platter and she said that her entire meal was surprisingly delicious. Ah, Italian food. Nothing says comfort like saucy carb-y goodness. Giovanni's has all the promise of a casual family dining establishment but fell flat in execution. Here's the run down: the pasta wasn't fresh, the cheese on the lasagna was a hard, microwaved mess, chicken parm was a ball of grease. And it didn't stop there. Where most Italian restaurants shine the sauce was tasteless and unfortunately piled on the plates. Lasagna, while homemade had been reheated and made a while ago. Even the simplest of dishes, a cheese pizza, was severely undercooked and doughy. I'm pretty forgiving when it comes to Italian fair. Seriously, pasta is my JAM and it's tough to mess up on this catastrophic of a scale. Giovanni's is barely mediocre but that may be the exact aesthetic they are shooting for. read more

A 1 star is too nice to be giving. Ordered a meal for 2 online. Drive all the way from Kingsport to get it. The Calamari App was cold and soggy. Had to be hours old. My salad was missing but other food was okay. Specifically asked for eating utensils and if all the food was there. Only had one utensil. It is hard for me to eat my Manicotti with my fingers and missing bread. Drove back to get my salad. It was brown with the wrong dressing. I think my 6 year could have got this together better. I order a Ceaser Salad simple and short. It was a disappointment. They gave me two to-go small ranch cups. I opened the first one, it was ok it was nice but the second one had a very hard ball in it. It was not a curton or nothing. I was afraid to eat it. However I powered through it and ate it. The salad was basically swimming. I get it, you was the lettuce and such, but it's so watery. Giovanni's is a good family run Italian restaurant. The spicy tortellini & shrimp in a spicy cream sauce was perfect and the homemade Italian salad dressing was very good. The one negative was no beer or wine. I really think Italian food is much better with a little wine and pizza is always better with beer but the waitress said I could bring it in - way too much trouble especially since I was on a business trip. I will probably not be back but you locals should try Giovanni's for lunch or dinner. They also have carryout which is an option. read more

We had gotten a to-go lunch order before and figured we would give them a shot for carry out dinner. A pasta entree with an upgrade to cheesy bread. The entree was nothing I couldn't make at home (I expected better from an Italian restaurant), and we did not get the large order of cheesy bread that I really wanted. Just basic buttered garlic bread, no cheese, although we were charged for it. At the time of pick up there as total confusion on orders on a Friday night, and we didn't have the heart to complain that our order was incorrect when several others were also complaining. This place needs friendlier servers. Every time I go to this place I feel awkward. About a month ago, I was craving Italian food.. There wasn't any other customers dining in..my bf and I were told to sit anywhere we would like. About 15 mins later our server came to us and apologized saying she was on the phone with her manager. I ordered a spaghetti with marinara sauce and it came with a salad..well I read the salad description and when I got my salad I noticed it was missing the croutons and tomatoes!..no biggie, but what got me is that I told the server and she admitted that she would have to open up a new bag of croutons and bring it to me on the side. Basically, laziness. She was rude, never checked up on us, and would basically drop off the food and leave without asking if I needed anything. It was about 4 or 5pm, so it's not like they were closing soon! This restaurant need better management & servers. As the only customers there, the server could have told her manager she had a table but instead she made us wait. I almost left that day, and would have if I wasn't already hungry...i will not be back. read more
