I hate posting negative reviews - but how this place is in business is beyond me. They need to do better. 13 of us were there for lunch. Very few other customers in the business. Our server was horrible. The restaurant knew in advance we'd be there. No plates, silverware or napkins on the table. We had to ask for it all. One of our party received his pizza with no plates. He asked for some and never received them. He finally got up and got them himself. I was fortunate to have received my food first. Unfortunately, after 1 1/2 hours, I had to leave and 2 people in our party still had NOT received their food. I heard later one received hers and the pizza was cold! When I paid, the server said it $11.28. He gave me back $8 saying "they don't do change!" The pizza slices were done wrong - we will say it was a miscommunication - but nothing was done to compensate. It makes me sad some great eating places have closed and this place is still open!! It has to be a front for laundering money because they do NOT know how to serve food. If you have to go, get the Greek salad. It was very yummy. That's the only positive statement I have about the place. The pizza is thin, limp and greasy. Seriously, if you're hungry and thinking about going there, stay home and eat a banana. read more

This used to be our go to pizza joint. It's expensive but they always hit it out of the park. Our last visit a week ago was very bad. I don't like to write bad reviews but it was not a good experience. We got there mid afternoon, the place was not busy at all. Maybe 4 tables. We ordered a pizza just a Supreme, nothing special. We watched people come in, order and get their food, but not us. When we finally get it, almost 40 minutes later, it was cold. Pizza should NOT be cold. It cost nearly $30 and was not good. We will have to write the place off at this point. It's too bad as it was once an amazing experience. read more

I met a group of friends here, it was 11 of us total. Not everyone ordered food, only about half of us did. But I guess since there was 11 people in the party, that justifies the place to charge a 18% tip even though it isn't a "high end" place like it states when I looked up TN regulations for mandatory tipping. The young blonde waitress gave the worst service I have had in my life. We got there at 2pm, she came by and disappeared for about a half hour. I don't know if she was new, but she was not attentive, nothing about her service was good. If they didn't force the tip on us on our bill she probably wouldn't have received a tip at all. We had to ask for silverware and napkins more than once. We asked a guy who brought some of our food and he brought them out to us. I ordered bruschetta and the same exact pizza as the person next to me at the same exact time. I said no sauces on top when she asked if I wanted blue cheese or ranch. other person got her pizza 40 minutes after ordering. I got my pizza 30 minutes AFTER she got hers. What the hell, we both ordered the buffalo chicken pizza. Why the hell did mine take 1hour 10 minutes and hers took 40 minutes? That is beyond outrageous. The restaurant wasn't busy and pizzas take about 15 minutes. The bruschetta... terrible. Bruschetta is supposed to have garlic, olive oil, balsamic vinegar with tomatoes. The tomatoes weren't seasoned, no garlic or olive oil, very blah. I had to get up and find someone to ask them for them to get our checks and boxes because the waitress disappeared over 30 minutes ago and has yet to be back. She should be fired or properly trained. To be a good waitress you need to come back, check on the table, see if we needed anything, see how the meal was etc. We also had to ask for boxes 3 times. read more

Some nights, you don't want to cook. You don't want to set a table or pretend you care about side dishes. You just want good food, fast, and without a single pan to scrub afterward. And when that mood strikes, there are few things better than a traditional pepperoni pizza, baked wings with sauce on the side, and a salad so fresh it almost feels like health food. Almost. The pizza? Exactly what a pepperoni pizza should be, cheese bubbling, crust just the right balance of crisp and chewy, with those little pepperoni cups that hold just enough grease to remind you why you ordered pizza in the first place. The wings? Crisp, baked, and waiting for that first perfect dunk into sauce. And the salad? You can't go wrong. We've had them all, and not a single one has let us down. And despite being as busy as they are, the staff is always quick, efficient, and friendly, making sure you're in and out without a hassle. They run the kind of operation that makes you wonder how they keep it all moving so smoothly, but you're too busy enjoying your food to ask. This is takeout the way it's meant to be, food that doesn't just fill you up, but makes you happy to be lazy. Because some nights, all you need is a good meal, a full belly, and a pile of empty takeout boxes to remind you that sometimes, skipping the dishes is the best decision you'll make all week read more

Hate to advocate for chain restaurants, but I have to admit that Mellow Mushroom has good pizza. Honestly, it's some of the best pizza in JC. Heard a lot of people talk about terrible service here, but I've never run into any glaring issues. There is plenty of seating inside, outside, and at the bar. The only negative is how dark it is outside the front doors. Honestly it just seems like a lawsuit waiting to happen when someone falls. Overall I have to recommend Mellow Mushroom if you're jonesing for a really good pie. read more

I ordered a gluten free pizza with buffalo chicken. I have had many pizzas from mellow mushroom and this is by far the worst. 21 dollars for a pizza that was the size of my hand it was more crust than toppings. We orders buffalo and there was no buffalo on top or the ranch that comes on top! It was also sweet? If I am spending almost 25 dollars on a pizza so small. I would hope it would be the right thing. read more

Honestly this place inside is so nice! The staff was so friendly and nice! I'm gluten free and I tried their pizza for the first time, it was not that great at all! The crust was like cardboard! The wings as well were dry and just didn't have good flavor! My husband tried the pretzel bites and the salad. Pretzel bites were good with the cheese, the salad however we added 4-5 toppings and for almost $2 each extra toppings there was hardly anything on the salad. Definitely was disappointed in the food it self! Love the place and the staff just not so much the food! read more

The pizza tastes great and they offer a lot of options for different dietary considerations. Atmosphere is laid back as the name might suggest. Love the TVs in the bar area for watching sporting events. read more

The pizza was delicious & our server Asher was outstanding and attentive. The beer and liquor lists had lots of options.

Excellent pizza!!! All types I've tried have been amazing. Just outrageously expensive. :(

The good thing about mellow mushroom is that they have vegan cheese. Even though the vegan menu only has three items on it with two of those items being salads... You can substitute the vegan cheese elsewhere on the menu. I ordered a veggie calzone, sub, vegan cheese, no, Parmesan, no butter, no ricotta. I also got the vegan Greek salad which I thought it was odd that they didn't offer a vegan Greek dressing with it. I went with the balsamic. It was still a good salad, but I wouldn't necessarily call it a Greek salad at that point. The calzone was giant. It looked like a pizza folded in half. there was a little too much cheese in it, and I wish that it would've had more vegetables. The calzone only had mushrooms, tomatoes, and spinach. I could have added more veggies but the up charges were looking a little ridiculous per topping. i did have to add a fair amount of salt to it as well. overall not bad but not amazing. thank you for having vegan cheese though! read more

This place is dog friendly. Sign language inclusion with great food. I'm behind on my reviews, but catching up, since the end of the year is just around the corner. It was a trip with the in laws, and finding substance that would agree with everyone can be nerve wrecking. Thankfully, with reviews and searching the word dog came in handy :) They had two fur babies and those cuties can't be left behind. We sat outside with two tables pushed together. A party of 6, and two furbies. Our waiter was polite, fast, and efficient. I had a meaty pie, hubs a sausage calzone, brother in law a cobbs salad, his gf a buffalo pie, and mother and father in law had wings. The blue cheese on the side is out of this world. Real and chunky, thick blue cheese, not the soupy kind lol. My pie was just great. It had the right amount of dough to cheese ratio. There was tomatoes on top, so it was somewhat healthy in eating vegetables lol. The crust was a buttery crisp. The meat was thick, and there was a slight tang in the sauce. The calzone had a glistening Parmesan garlic flavor brushed on top. It had a nice slight crunch on the exterior. There was definitely a cheese pull in addition to the abundance of sausage. We did take the leftovers back to the hotel. Oh, and I noticed one of the waitress communicating, using sign language with a person that was hard of hearing. That is awesome! I have a sibling that is deaf, so it warmed my heart knowing that this place integrates with people with hearing disabilities. Overall, it was a great meal with awesome company. We will be back when traveling through the area:) read more

Came in on a Friday night, but plenty of seating, and prompt service from the friendly waitstaff. Pizza was excellent, and they had Creature Comfort's Tropicalia IPA on draft. All was right with the world. read more

Food great! Service terrible! Tayla's, our server's,' dirty looks not appreciated. Plastic utensils offerred!

The pizza was alright. Not great and not terrible. We had a pepperoni pizza and their new pizza rolls and were not really impressed by either. We had ordered out and it was ready on time! The interior of the restaurant was a little dingy, we were happy to order out. read more

Pleasantly surprised by this pizza! I'm a big local gal but we were having an event here so I decided to try out the menu here. And I'm glad I did so! The Holy Shiitake was the bomb & the white pie was good too. Personally the holy shiitake was way more unique and flavorful while the white pie felt too cheesy and a bit greasy. The crust was very fluffy and perfect. Would go back sometime! read more

I've been here multiple times and let me just say, service has always been wonderful. Prices are a little high but I think that's everywhere right now. The atmosphere is laid back and family friendly. We have ordered the supreme pizza, Caesar salad, cheese bread, and my FAVE is the great white pizza! They don't over do the sauce or cheese to where you can't eat it and not overly greasy. Perfect for lunch or dinner! I will definitely be back! Love this place. read more

Back in November we ordered a Shiitake Mushroom pizza to take out and it was not good. I filled out a survey and Zach emailed me to come back and he would make it right. This is the best pizza I think I've ever eaten. It's expensive but honestly so is everything. The quality of the pizza far outweighs the cost. I have had their Holy Shitake pizza, a calzone, and some pepperoni and all three were exceptional. read more

food is good sometimes but service is not great by NOOO means. Me and my co workers order large pizzas often. and it's by NOOO means cheep .... and we just ask for a cup of red sauce to dip the crust in. and was told it's a $1.50. NOOO thank you! that's ridiculous! it use to be free with the pizza. as much as me and my co workers have spent there....! needless to say. our pizza orders will be from somewhere else from now on.... we have spent a lot of money there, but I'm sure another place in town will be happy to get our business. None of the other places never have been rude or tired to charge for a little cup of sauce or ranch. read more

ORDER #: 7879929666437121 2/19/2022 pickup time 1:40. I arrived 5 minutes early, called and told them I was there. They said it wasn't ready. I waited for 15 minutes and then went inside. The girl at the pickup counter ignored me, so I talked over the counter to one of the cooks. He said he couldn't find the ticket.. They eventually located my pizza on the counter with no ticket attached. The girl at the counter said that they had brought it out but nobody was there to pick it up. I beg to differ. I was there. And I wonder why they couldn't have just rang my number since it was on the order? Alas, the pizza was nearly cold and dripping grease. My first time here in a while, it will be my last. Ruined what was a great Saturday up until this farce. $36.32 down the drain. read more

It would be great if there were ingredients on all slices of the pizza. Especially for the price. Theservice was dismissive, at best. Rude and toxic, at worst. I have had poor experiences at other mellow mushrooms, but this was, by far, the worst. 3 tomatoes on a whole pizza... mushrooms...? Not to my knowledge. One single piece of artichoke. I would never recommend. read more

Not even a busy night , I'm here on an Uber eats pick up. And I kid you not I have been here for 30 minutes waiting on the food and nothing has come out of it, no updates from the staff, no nothing . I've been in food service 20+ years and also operated the boone mellow mushroom, I used to love this place. At the mellow mushroom in Johnson city on the deck. 4 boomers smoking underneath the no smoking signs. So I tell the server his response was " so...I guess I'll get the manager..." I responded..."do you want me to enforce your policy"...he just walked away. We left and I'll never go to another mellow mushroom every again... kinda sad read more

When this MM opened it was pretty good. Food has always been pretty good. Service and cocktails on the other hand blow. I use the word blow so the stoners that work there will understand how bad their service is. Yes... stoners. I get it... it's the Mellow Mushroom. You've seen the Grateful Dead, phish, widespread.... Blah blah... If you want to get a job that will let you be stoned and TRY to work please go somewhere else. Gave this place my last chance after messing up an order for food for the 5th time. Mixed drinks and cocktails ... boo. Typical slack... no pride in mixology whatsoever. read more

We went here recently and both the food and service where excellent. I can't remember our waitress' name but she was attentive and made some great recommendations. I Would definitely recommend this place! read more

Food was amazing as usual, our waitress was sweet as could be, it was hotter than satans toenails inside. AND the entire meal was so awkward because of ONE server (Yoshi apparently?) who walked around with NO PANTS. I am not joking, I saw the entire bottom half of their butt cheeks and even my 6 year old daughter was asking why she wasn't wearing pants. I'm all for freedom of expression and individuality, but this is a family friendly setting. Our entire table of 6 was horrified by how much of another persons tush we were shown! read more

My wife and I have recently moved to the area and wanted to try the pizza at Mellow Mushroom, our realtor highly recommended and a new pizza place was totally on our radar. The three-star rating is based on the less than poor service we received from the waitress, she was not friendly, the service she provided was poor because it appeared her concern was only with one table (probably friends or relatives). Fortunately, a younger gentleman took over our table, he was friendly and our horrible first impression we got from the waitress was completely turned around. He was pleasant, very friendly and was genuinely concerned that our needs were met at our table. We ordered a regular house salad which was huge, definitely sharable and very very fresh. The pizza we ordered was the Merry Prankster and it was absolutely delicious, and the crust was amazing. We'll certainly return because we won't let one turd in the punchbowl ruin the party. read more
