Sometimes messages are relayed but nobody at the Pasadena office answers them, sometimes messages aren't relayed at all. Who knows what's happening... they say they are trying new offshore services, but that doesn't help of course. Twice I have had to drive over to the office just to ask the question in person!!! I am sure there are other pulmonologists who are competent AND have a decent office administrator. I'm stuck because of my HMO, and luckily my office is a few miles away so when I do have to ask questions in person, I can. I like Dr Patel and have been seeing him for years, but his office is a mess…read more I have experienced an egregious lack of commitment to the most basic level of communication and time management within his practice. Too many hours have been spent - yes hours - trying to sort out the mistakes caused by poor organization and communication within his team. They have dropped the ball on prescriptions, sleep studies, office visits and equipment suppliers. I have tried to get past it but over time, it all adds up. I have mentioned this to Dr.Patel directly. I believe he knows yet over the last few years he has not made patient care and communication a priority in his practice. They moved from Pasadena to Duarte a couple of years ago. Their office here is also a sleep lab, and it should be quite convenient to schedule a test here. (I did mine back when they were in Pasadena.) The above is a typical yelp review, but the most important thing here is that Dr. Young saved me! Two years ago, Dr. Young diagnosed my sleep apnea, and prescribed the right treatment for me (CPAP). My health improved dramatically, and as a consequence life has become fun again. If you are reading this review, then most probably you have some sleep problems. Don't wait! Get some treatment!

I've never felt rushed like with some doctors, and he encourages patients to ask lots of questions and isn't even bothered by patients reading up online (some doctors get annoyed or sometimes take it personally when you've done your homework ahead of time). I have referred friends to Dr. young and will continue to do so. Also, his staff is pretty great, I've never waited longer than 5 minutes to be seen, they are friendly, and they're pretty together!
