We drove to Rolling Hills Estate's to celebrate Maggie's dad's 90th birthday. His favorite restaurant is Giogio's so we had dinner there. Service was excellent as the staff was glad to see their best customer. Bread had a cirspy outer layer and a light delicious flavor. I tried the grilled ribeye steak.  It was tender and juicy.  There was a rich beefy flavor from the excellent marbling.  Steak was seasoned just the way I like it with salt and pepper. Mushrooms were soft and had a delicious earthy flavor. Awesome meal. read more

What an absolute GEM of an Italian restaurant! I'm so glad I found this in my google search! My friend and I are ALWAYS trying new Italian restaurants, and I guess this one flew under the radar! It's situated in a cute little Shopping Center that appears to be a convenient hub for the Rolling Hills Estates. There are new apartents in development and a handful of essential shops! My friend got the veal chops, and loved it! He actually lives in Rolling Hills and had never tried the restaurant! He was shocked at how delicious it was, and couldn't believe he'd been driving so far away for Italian food when this restaurant is practically around the corner! The food was fabulous. I went with three girlfriends for dinner two of us had the salmon and 2 had the swordfish. It was delicious. Our waiter Scott couldn't have been nicer. He went out of his way to make sure we had everything we could've asked for [[HIGHLIGHT]]the ambience was so nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We got there when they opened at 4 PM because they do close from 3 to 4. There was nobody else there when we got there so the service was beyond reproach, but even when other people arrived Scott couldn't have been nicer to us we also got the tiramisu and spumoni they actually cut the spumoni into four equal pieces which was very nice. It can be a challenge to find a high-quality, fairly priced restaurant in PV or South Bay, but Giorgio's is a true gem. Despite living in PV for 10 years, I hadn't visited this place until I was simply tired of my usual dining spots. As a first timer, we ordered the pizza, lasagna, Cioppino, and the house salad. Everything was fantastic! The Cioppino seafood stew was the highlight. My husband has been craving for this specific flavor since our trip to Italy, and he immediately declared it was the authentic taste he'd been searching for. I must also agree with others about their incredible house salad dressing. It's truly amazing, with a unique tomato-based flavor that sets it apart from a typical balsamic vinaigrette. The pizza was excellent--not greasy at all. It reminded me of the homemade pizza you would find at a local Italian restaurant in Italy. The best part was how satisfied I felt after the meal--my stomach was full but not stuffed or heavy. That's the feeling I get when I eat in Italy. Many Italian restaurants in the US are too greasy and too salty. This place is authentic, tasty, and freshly made and very reasonably priced. Fantastic! I haven't been back to Giorgio's since the fire closed them down many years ago and they eventually reopened in this spot. It is much smaller and more intimate than the original location. First time at the neighborhood Italian restaurant. The food was exceptional and Tiramisu was to die for.

We have been coming to Giorgio's for years and years and years, way back when they used to be up the street from The Red Onion, before the fire in 2010. We used to go all the time before kids, and then, well, kids. I'm not entirely sure why we don't go consistently because, gosh darn, the food and service is always fantastic! I'm also not sure why it has taken me so long to write a very, very well deserved and much overdue review. The wife and I squeezed in a somewhat last minute date night after checking out The Hula Hula Room (new Tiki Bar in Torrance!) on Opening Day this week so we were two Tiki drinks in and feelin' good (read: no kids...I'M KIDDING!) which, I'm sure, had nothing to do with how much we enjoyed our evening. We decided on Giorgio's for our rare date night because it is near home, ALWAYS consistently delicious and accessible (we just walked in and a table was quickly made up for us). I was comforted by the fact that they were actually quite busy on a Wednesday night. I wasn't surprised, really, because it's so good and has certainly become an institution on the hill after decades of earning that status. The people dining that night seemed to be older regulars which I always like to see. I do think the younger set tends to go for flashier Italian joints like Primo's down the hill with its beautiful dining room or the cutely appointed Avenue Italy (decent food but the service was always terrible) but at Giorgio's, the food, even if not the decor, clearly shines. Now, there's nothing wrong with the decor at Giorgio's; it is simple, clean and cozy, like that of a Ristorante you'd actually find in Italy. I do miss, however, the old school Italian decor they had when they were across Silve Spur. I can still picture the wife and I sunk into the red leather booths set in the stark white dining room decorated with columns and statues. It definitely had character. Oh, and how we miss the elegant beehived bartender, Gay, always dressed to the nines and full of conversation. ANYWAY...you really can't go wrong ordering anything on the menu. On this visit, we shared an exquisite Veal Parm ($27.95 including delicious veggies and roasted potatoes) and I felt compelled to go off menu and order Spaghetti Carbonara (probably priced around the other pastas around $20-$22). Do yourself a favor and follow my lead. That dish was INCREDIBLE and just like Carbonaras we enjoyed in Italy this past summer. And I don't mess around; I thoroughly search out the very best places for authentic cuisine when we travel. I'm telling you, this was THE BOMB. And really, the Veal Parm was solid as well. We had planned to take leftovers home for the kids...but there wasn't a single morsel left. Do remember, Chef Carlo Borelli will whip up anything you're craving. All you have to do is ask. Frankly, I'm surprised that a dish as good as the Carbonara isn't a staple on the menu. I do recall that they used to have like a three item sampler on the menu before. And they'll still make that up for you, too, as I did a year or so ago. The Chicken Marco Polo (now a still fair $23.95 on its own) was my favorite part of the Trio Sampler and is a superb chicken dish, "sautéed with onions, artichokes, roasted red bell peppers in a cream sauce flamed with sherry wine." A long time ago, dinners used to include soup or salad (their house dressing is amazing) and a side of pasta. It was a great deal and one I miss. I liked the old school way of including those extras and I like fair prices. Prices now are pretty fair and considerably less than the competition. For instance, they have a $35 ribeye steak, which is probably the most expensive thing on the menu. I don't know anywhere around where you can get a good steak at that price. Wines on the menu are also fairly priced. With a $50 bottle of Justin Cabernet (their most expensive on the menu and quite tasty) and 2 entrees, our bill for 2 came to $120 including tip. The service is always great and quick. We always love it when Giorgio (Carlo's son) himself waits on us and we also loved his bro who looks just like me (!!) and used to work there, too, a looong time ago but the rest of the staff is friendly and efficient, too. I'm sad to hear of nearby Mama Terrano's closing, but while I enjoyed it once or twice over the years, the wife was newer a fan so we always came back to Giorgio's. Giorgio's is a family run family restaurant and absolutely deserves your patronage. Remember you can order anything you'd like Carlo to make for you. Craving a hamburger? It has been over 20 years since we have gone to Giorgios for dinner. The garlic bread was overpowered with garlic, to the point of having a slight bitterness. The consistency of the thick bread was great, a good crunch with every bite! I wasn't crazy about the Arrabiata sauce, too "herby" for my palate. My wife's pesto was very tasty and quite rich! I had dinner here the other night with my son and his girlfriend. I had the sea bass fra diavolo special which was very tasty. The vegetables that came with it were a bit soft, but delicious. I forget what the other two ordered, I think they were both pasta dishes, and they were huge! They definitely needed to-go boxes. Service was great, and the waiter recognized them from their lunches there. He even remembered her usual drink order. Tonight we went to Giorgio's for my best friend Nicole's birthday, the food was delicious along with the wine that was paired perfectly with our dinner. The service was incredibly slow, our server was not attentive and ignored us during our dinner experience. He was more attentive to his other guest and never asked how our dinner was going, we had to ask for everything we needed. The restaurant was busy so I understand as I have been a waitress myself things can be chaotic. I was not happy with the service as I saw other servers being attentive with their guest. The ambiance is great and I do recommend coming here for a nice Italian dinner. Used to be a weekly go-to, but won't be returning. We've loved Italian food all our lives--travel to Italy twice a year and live right nearby--so this spot became a regular favorite. For years, we came in three times a week for family dinners. But over time, the experience changed. Overall it was a really great experience! Our server Christian was excellent. He was very attentive and got us everything we needed throughout the night. He made us feel very comfortable. The food, overall, was great as well! My favorite was the linguine pescatore and the lasagna. The linguine & clams were a little bland for my taste (would have appreciated more white wine or acid) and the calamari was also just okay (not super crispy or flavorful). For the price, that's why I give it 4 stars. We went for a birthday and they made it very special with delicious dessert (and the whole restaurant sang)! Clientele is on the older side. We came here slightly before 6 pm seeing if we could fit in a quick dinner as 2 kids and 2 adults. The restaurant was 50% empty and they told us it would be 45 min wait even though we already knew what to order. Looked online and didn't take a way to reserve online either. It was a 'date night' so we decided to eat somewhere fancy before a concert. I was impressed by the positive reviews, so we decided to give it a try. The restaurant was packed and it seemed like everyone knew each other because several guests were waving at each other. This must be a local favorite restaurant, but unfortunately I don't think it's because of the food-- I'm sorry! The waiter was amazing & I loved the Balsamic Bruschetta but the meals were mediocre for the price. They boast being homemade pasta but sadly we were not wowed by any of the dishes. I am OK with spending extra on a fabulous meal, but I think Trader Joe's Ravioli would be comparable. Other note, the bathroom was old & filthy-- gross when you are a lady all dressed up. If you are from out of town, & mindful of your spending, I suggest getting Italian elsewhere. The staff was very nice though. read more
