Ambiance: it's a neighborhood Italian restaurant, classy and comfy inside, live music performance over weekend nights, full bar service, private rooms for parties and events Service: welcoming and friendly staff, attentively refilled water and cleaned the table Food & Drink: classic Italian food with fresh ingredients Bread - **** house warm bread, served with olive sauce and butter, recommend Tagliatelle alla Bolognese - *** traditional bolognese sauce made with veal and pork, tossed with house tagliatelle pasta, great house-made pasta although sauce was too bland Braciola di Maiale Tomahawk - ***** Tomahawk Pork Chop with herb-roasted potato, roasted heirloom tomatoes, balsamic reduction, potatoes were undercooked, hard in the middle, the pork was cooked beautifully, balanced flavors, highly recommend Tiramisu - **** classic Italian dessert made with mascarpone cheese, espresso, and ladyfingers, bold flavors, recommend Scholb IPA Draft Beer - **** bitter and citrus flavored, recommend Price: decent portions, and overall great quality for all their dishes, expect about $60 per person for a satisfying dinner

Branzino 10/10!

What a fantastic, quaint, delicious place. It's gorgeous inside and wonderfully decorated. Our server was beyond sweet and made fantastic recommendations all night. I ordered the branzino and hands down perfection. Got to try the lasagna which was delicious and the ravioli in brown butter and sage was so yummy. We were a party of nine and everybody had nothing but raving I'm reviews about this place. All of us agreed. We would definitely come back. I would definitely say this place is a must try!!!

There was live music and excellent service. They have gluten free options but the pasta noodles they selected were meh. However everything else was good.

Primo Italia is one of our favorite go-to's. The menu has a lot of delicious options, we try to order something different each time. We ordered cocktails and decided to split an appetizer, salad, and a main entree. Pear and burrata salad was nice, just a little sweet. Seemed more like a dessert than salad. The octopus appetizer was grilled to perfection, not tough or chewy at all. The lemongrass puree was a nice complement to the dish. Glad we chose the butternut squash ravioli, the brown butter and sage sauce was creamy and buttery. Great live music. Although there are private dining rooms and a bar, seating is limited, so reservations are a must. As with many Italian or European fine dining restaurants, staff is predominantly all male except hostesses (nothing wrong with it), but our server could have been a little more warmer and welcoming. The only things he said to us was "are you ready to order now " and "would you like to order dessert", and checked back with us maybe once. At the same time he was being chatty and laughing with the folks at the table behind us. As someone in the service industry for decades, I pay attention to details, and still never tip less than 20% even if service is just ok or mediocre.

Made reservations for four at 6:30 pm, and we're seated right away. A Torrance native, I was completely unaware of this hidden gem. It's swanky, with a huge window that casts a lot of natural light behind a grand piano. We happened to come when they had live music, a pianist and he played songs by the Beatles all night. They have a full bar and a good amount of booth seating and regular tables. It's not a big restaurant so I can see why some ppl complain about the wait. It seemed like a spot for business meetings and family dinners, a lot of the other patrons were in suits/business casual. Service was fast and attentive. The complimentary bread, butter, and blended olive spread was delicious. We ordered insalata trittata, which had a very nice vinaigrette dressing. Capricciosa pizza which had artichoke, mushroom, and prosciutto- the dough was divine, fluffy and not too dense. linguine vongole, which was slightly bland - I wish the garlic/white wine sauce was more overpowering (but the way they did it did seem more Italian). The butter squash ravioli was delicious and creamy. They have a huge variety of Italian wine, and we had a glass of a really lovely Cabernet Sauvignon. They also did a lemon drop martini really well, it tasted like spiked lemonade. Highly recommend the ricotta cheesecake and chocolate mousse/vanilla gelato for dessert. The cheesecake was both thick and light, with a hint of lemon. And the chocolate mousse was chocolate heaven.

Primo Italia in Torrance, CA is a highly-regarded Italian restaurant known for its authentic cuisine, stylish ambiance, and live music, often featuring the owner's Broadway-style singing. They are known for house-made pastas and high-quality ingredients used in dishes ranging from seafood to wood-fired pizzas. I had the pasta with black truffles and it was so good. I also tried the grilled brazino and it was delicious. The fish was perfectly cooked. The grilled octopus was very soft. The beef carpaccio simply melt in your mouth. We finnished with the pana cotta! Dinner was amazing. The ambiance is warm and lively.

Dessert- Chocolate Terrine

When I first walked into this place, it immediately reminded me of an East Coast Italian spot and it made my heart a little warm. The massive menu features all different types of pasta, pizza, seafood, steak, desserts, and combos, and I was very much ready to take advantage of one of those combos. I ordered the half & half of lasagna and spaghetti with some meatballs and Italian sausage as well, because why would i not do that? Both the spaghetti and the lasagna were both absolutely delicious, but the highlight was definitely the meatball and Italian sausage, both of which were fantastic. Overall, Scardino's Italian Restaurant is easily one of my favourite Italian spots in the area and certainly a place I'll return to in the future. The food here was delicious, the vibes were good, and the service were solid as well. This place is wonderful.

UPDATE! We came…read moreback about a month later to celebrate Hubbers' birthday, but the experience wasn't the same. I'm guessing since they're coming to a permanent closure, it only makes sense that the quality of the experience (food and service) had began to going down. We were seated immediately, so we were off to a good start. It took a bit of time for Daniel (yep! We got the same server from the last time) to come around and get our orders. It wasn't too bad since the wait gave us the opp to decide on apps and mains, so we got to put all our orders in at once. CALAMARI: Battered thin and crispy. Dash of lemon juice made it better. Quality? Yes. Quantity? Not so much. I thought it was pricey for the amount we got. PEPPERCORN POLPETTINE: Meatballs in cream sauce. Even with the whole peppercorns, the sauce was good. The meatballs, however, didn't taste or look homemade at all. (I recently made frozen meatball soup at home and the meatball's flavor was pretty much similar.) So.. meh... BRUSCHETTA ALLA CHECCA: This was the best app out of the three. Crostini was perfect and the toppings were all perfectly balanced. SPAGHETTI AI NERO DI SEPPIA: Looked great, but lacked flavor. Asked for fresh grated cheese and added black pepper which helped a little, but still missing something... Hubbers got the linguine pesca mare which he loved (he emptied his plate!) So I guess that says a lot. And I'm really glad he liked it, being his birthday and all. He also chose crème brûlée to finish off his birthday treat. (No, they didn't comp it - which is fine, and I don't expect them - or any business - to, even more since they are shutting down. I understand they need all the profit they can get.) Overall a little less stellar than the first visit. I'll admit I was a teenee bit disappointed since we had an amazing experience the first time. All the same, I'm still glad of the experience and wish them well on their future endeavors!

TIKI DAVE of TIKI DAVE TRAVEL loves Bettolino Kitchen!…read more I'm not sure how we ended up here for my daughter's 17th birthday...no, wait, I remember now. My daughter's favorite South Bay Italian restaurant is J.Trani in San Pedro and they are closed on Tuesdays and while I also love J.Trani, I am very glad we ended up at Bettolino Kitchen that night. I'd been twice before and remember it being good despite the experience we witnessed our first night when a blind date went very, very poorly before they even ordered dinner. The couple sits down and she didn't like his demeanor at all. He seemed cocky and smug right away. We could tell it wasn't going to work at all. She says, "Well, you're not my type". At one point, he threatens not to pay but ends up paying. She continues, "Do you want me to lie to you?...You're free to leave" as she was intent on finishing her drink. She does and says, "I'm just going to leave now." And while I digressed, I am sorry they didn't have an opportunity to eat some of Bettolino Kitchen's fantastic food. The wife (who rightly declares in my below video that she was celebrating her "Birth Day", too) ordered the Pretty in Pink cocktail ($16) - Cazcanes Tequila, Cherry Blossom Syrup, Orange Liqueur, Fresh Citrus - and very much enjoyed it. I ordered the Fig Loves Bourbon ($16) with Four Roses Small Batch Bourbon, Fig Puree, Balsamic and Orange Bitters because it just sounded too good and unusual to resist. And it was fantastic. Having just been in Hollywood where drinks were obscenely meteoric at $21 apiece, I really appreciate the more terrestrial prices. Yummy bread is complimentary which is nice because I hate having to pay for a basket of bread. We ordered the Brussels & Balsamic ($15) to start and if you told me back in the '80s, they'd have brussel sprouts on restaurants' menus in the 2010s and 2020s and be charging $15 for 'em, I would have thought you crazy! I'm really just kidding. This dish was insanely good AND it has pancetta and quality ingredients...the rosemary croutons added a nice crunchy texture in the mix. I highly recommend you order these tiny bald-headed old man tight-leafed bundles of tasty joy. 3 out of our group of 5 ordered the Bolognese ($26) and loved it. The Del Mare ($36) pasta called out to me and holy smokes, this could be one of my favorite pasta dishes ever. Linguini with halibut, lobster, shrimp, scallops, capers, green Italian olives and cherry tomatoes in a spicy tomato sauce. I would order this dish over and over and over again. The seafood and pasta is perfectly cooked and pure brilliance with the bright freshness of the cherry tomatoes, capers and green olives just putting the whole thing to bed beautifully. Our server Rich was great, too. We brought a bottle of wine but it had turned. Thankfully, we weren't charged for it and just ordered a couple glasses of delicious Italian red instead. My daughter also wanted "Nothing Bundt Cakes'" mini-bundtlets for dessert and again, thankfully, there was no lame "cake cutting fee" we've been charged in the past elsewhere. We had plenty so this proud Pop witnessed his daughter give 4 of them to the kids at the next booth over. Ambience is lovely and bright with comfy booths and a cute little bar inside although if I'm remembering correctly, I may prefer the moody black interior they used to have. Bettolino KItchen has a great Happy Hour every single day from 2:30pm-5:30pm ($3 off starters, wines by the glass, beer and specialty cocktails), daily lunch specials from 11am-4pm as well as 50% of bottles of wines and Zero Corkage on Thursdays. Everyone likes nice gestures and discounts and so does TIKI DAVE. They also offer a weekend brunch and bikinis, I mean, bellinis and a "Date NIght Monday" where you get an appetizer, two entrees and a mini dessert for $70. As you can see, these guys deserve a thorough and fantastic review for what they're doing. TIKI DAVE can't wait to go back. I asked the waiter about the discrepancy and he said something about a bowl vs a cup that usually comes with the special.
