Loved it when I was in Chicago, was craving it again. Added fresh garlic to a custom pizza, didn't realize I was going to get a pizza absolutely covered in it. Pizza is fantastic otherwise.

IMPORTANT PRO TIP: AMAZING food takes time. Pizzas are Chicago deep dish style. Therefore, they take a loooooonnnnng time to cook. Many Des Moines reviewers may not know this but this pizza spot takes time!!! Every dish will take time but the deep dish pizzas especially. Even the servers will warn you. Ordered calamari as appetizer, spaghetti, 1 deep dish pizza and a kids regular pizza. We waited 50 minutes. Everything tasted very excellent. Piping hot and fresh. We waited long for that pizza but it was worth it. I brought things for my kids to play with but that wait could not hold off my kids. Warning: if you have antsy kids...this is not the place to come. Service was very nice and friendly. To many people they would say it was slow but for the culture of Giordano's it was just right for us. We have had real Chicago style pizza in Chicago so we knew what we were expecting. Restaurant was nice and clean. Bathrooms were very upkept. Lots of room for a packed place. We visited on a Thursday evening. It was not busy. Would love to see more people enjoy this great pizza.

I had a craving for Chicago-style pizza. I found this Giordano's restaurant fairly close to the hotel where I was staying. I decided to have lunch here after being a tourist in the morning on my final full day stateside last month. After having lunch here, I'd make the drive back to Bloomington. This eatery looked fairly new from the outside. I had no problem backing into a parking spot. There was plenty of parking in front of the restaurant. I then made my way inside. I was greeted by a nice woman. I got a comfortable booth, and had a good view of the football game between the Vikings and Dolphins on one of many screens. My server was Amanda. She talked a mile a minute. She pointed out that I could get any pizza as an individual-sized deep dish or thin crust pizza. It was like she had read my mind. This size is not listed on the restaurant menu. I went with the special as an individual pizza. I was told that deep dish pizzas take 45 minutes to bake. I was good with it. I wasn't in a hurry. I also got a Diet Pepsi. My drink came out. It was refreshing and yummy. You get refills here. There is free wifi. It allowed me to upload my photos on Yelp, read messages, and keep me content browsing various sites. Watching the Vikings win was also great. Sure enough, my pizza came to me in 45 minutes. It looked good. The special consists of sausage, mushrooms, green peppers, and onions. The crust was sturdy. I could hold my slice safely without dumping the filling on me or onto the table. It was a cheesy slice, but yummy with all the toppings. I was perhaps halfway through eating my pizza when my server came over with a box. I gave her quite the puzzled stare. It was mighty presumptuous of her to assume that I couldn't down an individual pizza with four slices. How about asking me whether I needed a box? I told her politely to take the box back. One word: sheesh! If I had ordered a large pizza for me, I'd be fine with a box. It wasn't the case. I also didn't like the rush while I was halfway eating lunch. I got the bill with the box. Perhaps I should have sent the bill away with the box. I paid with a credit card. I got the paper bill. I signed it and tipped. Before doing a mini road trip northbound, I visited the women's washroom. It was at the back and I had to walk past a table of seventeen people to get there. The washroom was clean. No complaints there. I loved the food and drink. I didn't like the rush, which seemed odd considering that baking deep dish pizzas here can't be rushed. If I were to return to dine in, I hope that I get a different server. Otherwise, I may give takeout or delivery a try. (456)

The Special (thin crust)

3.75* (out of 5) Food: 4* Atmosphere: 4* Value: 4* Service: 3* 06/26/2022 We drove by this place numerous times and always wanted to stop, finally getting our chance one evening when we were hungry for pizza. There were several different beers on tap at a separate bar area and ours were served cold. For our meal, we ordered The Special as a thin crust (see picture). The toppings seemed fresh, veggies had a little crunch left to them and the crust was very good. This was one of the better pizzas we've had in the area, so would recommend a stop to try it out for yourself. On our next trip, we will likely try some of the other Italian dishes - which looked very good. If you found this review helpful, please show your appreciation with a Like or a Follow.

Lunch special. Pepperoni deep dish and fries. Eh. Just ok.

Stopped for lunch since my oldest son wanted some deep dish. First time and it was ok. Service was nice and food came out quicker than I thought but everything was just "eh." Parmesan fries lacked flavor and pizza and sandwich were just ok. Nothing to remember, very forgettable. The restaurant itself was very clean and larger than I expected.

Definitely good pizza! The service was amazing! The setting could be dress, or casual.

Deep Dish Pizza and Thin Crust Pizza

My husband and I had dinner here - first time trying it. It was SO GOOD. Atmosphere is great, server was super friendly. My husband got a Deep Dish More Meats and I got the Thin Crust Super Veggie. We each got a small and have ate it as leftovers a few times! Let's talk about the size of the ranch cup - every restaurant needs to have these cups. I am dip my pizza in ranch kinda person and their ranch is probably the best I've ever tasted. They told us right up front deep dish would take 45 minutes and we were totally fine with that - and trust me, it's worth it. We had a beer while we waited and it was all around a wonderful experience.

House Salad with lemon vinaigrette
Sara F.

I'm a little biased, as I frequently go to Chicago and eat their deep dish pizza. The Des Moines location was a little different than Chicago--hard to explain, maybe the pizza didn't seem as deep/packed--but the salad and service were on point. The salad is probably my favorite things here...shhhhh, don't tell anyone. It's like a perfect mix of salad, tomatoes, Parmesan, and a tangy lemon vinaigrette. I even asked if the dressing is available solo but it's not due to no preservatives. I order it anytime I go to Gios. Our server was also great. Warned us about the extended deep dish cooking time, kept drinks refilled, cleared plates quickly and frequently checked on our experience. This is my closest Gios so I'll definitely be back.

A nice restaurant with a clean look and a couple of TVs behind the bar playing the Army Navy game. Pics on Google were promising. They were correct. Pizza is wood fired, and you can easily watch the process from most of the restaurant. A nice vibe. Like many places today, they go out of the way to be obscure with their ingredients. I asked about the sausage pizza and which item was the cheese....the server was unsure and offered me the pepperoni pizza with mozzarella replacing pepperoni with sausage. Instead, I added sausage to the pepperoni. I prefer pizza with cheese...covering the whole pizza as opposed to a small section. With the cheese thing out, I will say the crust and ingredients were fantastic. We ordered one half pizza/half salad and a whole small pizza. I didn't picture how they'd do a half pizza with an empty restaurant, but it was just a smaller crust. (Makes sense.) Beer selection was limited, but still good. Service was kind and attentive. This was a pretty good pizza joint with a try.

Then the pizza was a huge hit. The chicken Thai pizza was fantastic. So full of flavors and the perfect amount of toppings.

Lol I took at look at their menu online and it's not a big menu... Build your own 7-Stone crust (thick) and artisan crust (thin) along with six different specialty pizzas. Big into appetizers? Don't plan on it here. They have cheesebread and side salads. They offer a couple different items for lunch specials (Wednesday - Friday 11am to 2pm)...toasted hoagies and a half pizza combo. It's order and pay at the counter. Pepsi self serve fountain drinks. Plates, utensils, napkins, and pizza spatulas are beside the fountain drink station. Parmesan and red pepper are on the tables. Seat yourself. The seating is a combination of booths and low top tables and chairs. There's a small counter with seating as well. The business itself is in a strip so there is lots of parking available. There was one gal behind the counter taking orders as well as cooking and serving pizzas. Two younger ladies came in a bit later, but it was hard to tell if they were actual staff or daughters there to hang out with their mom (or maybe both). Staff was friendly enough. Our party ordered: 1x large House7 on 7-Stone crust 1x large buffalo chicken on artisan crust 2x small pepperoni pizzas on artisan crust 1x large cheesebread 1x side salad 7x fountain drinks It was a short wait for everything to get cooked and served. The thicker 7 Stone crust takes about 20 min. The artisan...probably half that. The 7 Stone crust vaguely reminds me of when Pizza Hut still cooked in cast iron. The toasted crust with cheese burnt like little vertical stalagmite (that's the cave formations that form from the floor up)... That was something neat to see. I haven't had a crust like that in a long time. The artisan crust is thinner of course, but perfect for folding. You like a little char? This gives you that in some bubbling aound the edges, but the bottom of the pizza crust is not burnt. I really enjoyed the buffalo chicken pizza! I'm not sure what it was but for me there was something off about the red sauce... It wasn't "bad" but just tasted off. At first I thought it might be a residual taste from the black olives from the House7, but the red sauce on the pepperoni pizzas had the same taste. Maybe it was the plum tomatos they use v. roma or another more traditional variety? Bang for the buck... To me it seemed a little pricey. $22 for a small cheese pizza on 7-Stone. $20 for a small cheese on artisan. $33 for a large specialty on 7-Stone. $31 for a large speciality pizza on artisan. But that might just be me... The company was buying for the two of us today so... The cost is sort of irrelevant outside of mentioning the noted pricing in general. When the company is buying I really don't care. But I'm kind of glad they were paying for it... Lol But no one walked away hungry that's for sure...! And the leftovers I took home will get eaten as long as it warms up anywhere near the same (follow up edit: it did). This is a tough one for me... It's kind of like Gusto. I had a ton of friends who loved the place. I just never cared for it. And there was no particular reason... Is this some place I would return to? Maybe if invited again... But while it's not exactly my favorite... You might love it! Definitely worth checking out! https://www.7stonepizzeria.com/

We got three sodas and water for the kids. Our bill was $60. The person who took our order wanted to make sure we knew that we were ordering a lot of pizza and ask how many people we had coming. That was very nice of her. The ingredients tasted really fresh, and the crust was tasty in the wood fire oven. It's actually kind of a plain Jane restaurant in a strip mall, but the pizza is very good! Real plates and silverware are a very nice touch.
