I visited Giordano's recently and tried their traditional pizza, but it honestly wasn't the best compared to what I expected. The service from the waitress wasn't very attentive, which affected the overall experience. I also noticed they don't really offer regular non-alcoholic drinks on the menu, which was a bit disappointing. On the positive side, the environment was nice and had a good atmosphere for dining in. I placed an order online at 7:20 Pm, it was supposed to be delivered by 8:40 pm - it's now almost 9PM and he's still not here! It's only a 20 minute drive. I'm really really NOT HAPPY! When I called to check where my pizza was when 8:40 came and went I was told they usually don't deliver that far! My family was having a rough weekend and I was in town visiting. Last night was going to be our going away dinner celebration for me, our last family event for a while. My mom asked what I wanted and I said Giordano's deep dish. I ordered the pizza online at 5:17pm to have it ready for pickup by 7pm. I was in the middle of cooking when it was almost 7pm so I paused and rushed to the restaurant to be there by 7pm. I got there, and they said it wasn't ready yet and to wait a few more minutes. 20 minutes later they told me they didn't know what happened to my pizza. They had my order but no pizza. They offered to give me a credit or to have another one remade and delivered to me within an hour. I was beyond shocked- how does someone just lose a deep dish pizza?! What a freaking waste of my time- 1.5 hours of my life I will never get back. And what a shame to ruin my going away celebration dinner. I didn't want to have it delivered because that was an extra hour and I was just upset. I went home empty handed and my family was upset. I asked for a refund and they were unable to provide me proof that it was refunded- instead they just wrote "voided" in permanent marker on the receipt. Overall miserable experience. I absolutely love their pizza. I don't have a problem with their deep dish spinach however I ordered their chicken Parmesan spaghetti. When I asked for bread to go with it. Apparently I have to pay for bread like are we kidding? Are you not a pizza place. Whatever happens to restaurants bringing you bread and butter. This is gotta be the only place that doesn't do it. The food is reliably delicious, the service is attentive, and they go over and beyond to make sure you have a good experience. I had been to Giordano's in the past, but this was my first time at this location. I try to visit one every time I come to Chicago--the tough thing is to decide between the deep dish and then thin (the deep dish is my favorite, but I always eat way too much). Service is always great and quick. We got out drinks right away and put in our pizza order. We did not get appetizers--but I love both the cheesy bread and the bruschetta (be award the cheesy bread in particularly can be filling). We had a custom deep dish pizza with sausage, green peppers, and mushrooms. Their wonderful pizza starts with a perfect crust that holds it together. The key is the mix of the toppings with tomatoes and cheese. It is fantastic. read more

This is not good deep dish pizza. I tried a slice of the super veggie pie. The crust was not very crispy and lacked flavor. The sauce and toppings needed salt. It was a real waste of calories and a disappointment. I tried Lou Malnati's a few years ago and found it to be way better. I have no idea why people rave about the pizza here. It was a poor showing for the deep dish. However, the minestrone soup and mozzarella triangles were actually really good. Also, the place is nice, spacious and cozy. The server could not have been more attentive. She told us the pizza would take 45 minutes and suggested an appetizer, which prompted us to order some. Giordano's is one of my favorite places for pizza in the area. The best thing about it is the size of the pizza that they bring out. The medium can literally feed my entire family. The deep dish pizza is at Chicago classic and if you've never had it as Giordano's is the place to get it. There are many places they claim to be the first place for deep dish pizza in Chicago but don't let it fool you Giordano's is a staple. I've come here a dozen times with my family and friends and I always take people who visit me from out of town to this place. They also have appetizers such as chicken wings and breadsticks but we usually stick with the deep dish. We one time had to order a gluten-free pizza and no one at a table noticed that it was gluten-free. That's how awesome this place is. read more

I've been in this place before but never for lunch. I know their deep dish pizzas are good, maybe not Lou Malnati good, but a nice alternative. My son and I came in about noon, so they were touting their lunch menu. The place is nicely decorated, typical of a pizza parlor with comfortable seating and lighting. There were only a few people in there besides us which surprised me because it's in the middle of a kind of business district. I ordered the deep dish individual pizza and garlic Parmesan fries, which were on their lunch menu and priced reasonably at about $8. I got my son the kids pizza, which came with a drink also. The menu said "lunch pronto," in an attempt to cater to people looking for a quick lunch but that's where it fell short. The service was ok. It wasn't crowded so I kind of expected more attentiveness. We were asked once, after we were given our bill, if we wanted refills. My pizza was good, small, but what you'd expect from giordanos: tangy sauce, sausage spread across the top and a buttery, doughy crust. My son's child's pizza was actually much larger than mine, but it was a thin crust, and had gooey cheese and the same tangy sauce. The fries took about 15 minutes to come out, nothing special. Standard frozen fries drenched in Parmesan, garlic and parsley. But they were actually really good. Pizza came out 20 minutes after that. Not really what I would call a "pronto" lunch. Then there was the lack of service. I had to ration napkins because there was no one around to flag down. No refills. But boy, the check sure did get swiped up quick after it came! The same song and dance as a lot of places: slow service until the money comes. I'd really love to give it more stars but the service was just lacking. The food was good, but not great. AMAZING! EVERYBODY NEEDS TO HAVE THIS IN THEIR LIFE. This brings a whole new meaning to pizza. You do have to be patient though, as it does take about 45 minutes for this masterpiece to cook. But no worries, you can call ahead to get a head start on the cooking process. Or order a delicious appetizer to pass the time. We had the loaded potato fritters. They were similar to a tater tot, but with cheese and bacon inside served with a side of ranch. They were truly amazing. I could have ate a million of them. After waiting patiently, it was finally the moment of truth. The server cuts the first slice, since it can get a little messy. The crust was perfectly done and the sauce and cheese was absolute perfection. I am not sure I really have the words to describe this, but I would eat this pizza any day over regular pizza. Sunday, February 14, 2010, dinner for two. This Giordano's has a lower lit environment. Employees at this location seem to be on the younger side compared to other locations (as in, seems like high schoolers). That means 2 out of 4 times, you will have an awkward server who will ask you how everything is, twice as many times as the normal human employed as a restaurant server. This leads to many interruptions in conversation and after the fourth time or so, paranoia may set in and then perhaps so shall scenes from the movie "Waiting" running through your thoughts. I called Giordano's today and spoke with Carrie (the Manager on duty at the time). I explained my situation and that my husband and I wanted to try again. She checked the notes and then came back on the line and asked if I wanted Carry Out or Delivery. I told her that we wanted to eat in the restaurant. She asked what kind of pizza I wanted so that could get started and I ordered the Deep Dish Pepperoni. When we got there, we were shown to a booth and within a minute or so Anne came by to take our order. We ordered and received our beverages and then ordered the Cheesy Garlic Bread and the Harvest Salad. Both arrived within about 5 minutes. They were gorgeous. The salad was artfully arranged and the ingredients were so fresh and tasty. The Cheesy Bread had the perfect amount of cheese and the sauce was wonderful - not your typical salty tomato sauce, but rich and flavorful. Shortly after we received our pizza. It was everything that we had been hoping for. It was piping hot, nice and thick, and the crust was a perfect combination of flaky and crunchy. The cheese was nice and melty, the pepperoni very tender, and the sauce was just the right amount. Anne was very attentive and made sure we had refills on our drinks and extra napkins and fresh plates for the pizza. After we had finished eating I asked for 2 orders of Cannolis. Anne came back and told us that they were out and suggested some of the other desserts. I asked for a slice of the Chocolate Layer Cake to-go. She came back with the boxed pizza and a bag with the cake in it. She said that our bill was taken care of. That was so nice of the restaurant to do, because I had been prepared to pay for the Cheesy Garlic bread and Chocolate Cake which were not part of my botched order from last week. I gave her a tip and we left. When I got home, I noticed that we had been given 2 slices of cake and not 1. Our dining was everything that we had hoped for and renewed our faith in Giordano's. The food was fabulous, the service was excellent and I plan to come back and order again, and recommend that my friends stop in as well. I think that I will stick to Dine-In or Carry-Out instead of Delivery, but all in all I was very pleased. Thank you to everyone at the restaurant for taking such good care of us. read more

It was my first time in the greater Chicago area, so of course I had to try Giordanos! We stayed in West Chicago, so this was the closest location. Normally, we would stay in and eat, but it was so much more convenient to call ahead and take the pie home. My mouth is super sensitive, so the last thing I needed was a big deep dish of boiling cheese. The drive home was the perfect way to let the cheese cool down. We ordered two pies, both deep dish. The first was a sausage and pepperoni, and the second had green peppers, onions, and sausage. We also ordered the garlic, cheese, and tomato bread. Pizza was wonderful! Super deep dish, piled with toppings, and red sauce completely drowned the toppings. I LOVED IT! After 2 slices (from a large), I was ready for my food coma. The sausage was seasoned well, the pepperoni was spicy, and the veggies tasted fresh. My counterparts complained that the green peppers were too strong, but I beg to differ. Let's talk about the crust. Hm. I'm just not a fan. It was sturdy enough to hold everything together, and it was really buttery.... but it was also dry and dense. If you like dry and dense, then you will love it. I prefer fluffy and herby. But that's me. I think I'm more of an Uno's girl. The garlic, cheese and tomato bread was GREAT!!!! I think I could just eat that and be satisfied. So why the three stars? Service sucked. SUCKED BADLY. And this is from a total of 6 minutes of interaction. Yep. That bad. Be advised of absurd over-pricing here. The pizza is always great so its worth a few extra bucks but if you deviate from that, beware. We ordered a couple of orders of wings and cheesy bread and it came out to over $50 for 10 wings and 2 half pieces of bread. Utterly insane. When I called to confirm if this was accurate, they refused to put me on the phone with a manager and the woman started a heated and unwanted debate about food costs during a pandemic. I am sorry, but charging nearly $11 for a tiny piece of toast is utterly absurd - the margin is still at least 90%. Dont use the current climate to gouge your profits. read more

I was in town visiting from San Francisco and was told Giordano's was the place to try a deep dish pizza which was one of the things on my list to eat on this trip. I don't know how this compares to other Chicago Pizza stores but I thoroughly enjoyed it. The deep dish was unlike anything I had before. Each slice was a meal by itself. Pepperoni was good but the spinach was even better. The cheese and the toppings were great, not a big fan of the crust though. I liked the thin crust options a lot too. read more

Abyssmal and embarrasing. Your manager lost a lot of business last Saturday evening. We were a party of 25-30 (multiple families) who called 30 minutes ahead. We didn't expect a party of our size to be seated together, but we wanted to be in the same restaurant. Surprisingly, the restaurant was nearly empty, and I thought "What luck! We can sit near one another". The manager, however, firmly denied our request. Moreover, he was belittling, rude, and argumentative. I feel really sad for his staff, because they were standing around as he turned us away. He could've set expectations low by letting us know he was short-staffed or that service would be slow. We would've been content sitting near one another and buying drinks/appetizers while we waited. But, he didn't pose solutions; he was resolute in being unaccomodating and graceless. To the owners: You can do better. I read the Google and Yelp reviews for this location and either you have a chronic problem with hiring disprespectful managers, or you've enabled the same manager to continue his terrible behavior. I am so disappointed. I wish there was a 1/2 star to give. I will not be returning to this location. read more

Pizza has taken a huge dive down - used to be my favorite. No sauce, over cooked, and served without a smile (RBF). Had to beg to get the waitress to even swoop by for a serving of disservice. Waitress had about 3 words all night - yes (an attempt to say what would you like), yea (like to say "hurry up I need to go annoy another party"), and sure (when we asked for separate checks). In a world of service, this place cannot rank (cannot measure negativity on a scale of 1-5). Update: informed the manager (as a courtesy to let him know) and he was almost belligerent. We ordered stuff pizza, we were given an hour for pickup. I showed up 5 minutes early and noticed my order of fries was out. They said 10 more minutes. I mentioned the fries will be cold. I was reassured they would be fine. The pizza came out 25 minutes late so I mentioned the fries being cold. He said he could make a fresh order in 15 minutes. We've done the carry out curbside delivery a couple of times. Always deep dish, half and half to keep everyone happy. The pizza is always good, ready on time and all "extras" included as requested. What more do you want? Tip: Always get the deep dish delivered UNCUT. Travels much better and you can cut the size slice you want! read more

Super disappointed. Giordano's web site said they had curbside pickups during the covid19 stuff going on. When I went to pickup I had to walk in and stand there with a few other customers waiting for our orders. No signs outside. Only a little sign on the door saying they were closing at 8pm. My rating is based on the food and excellent wait staff. Not the manager who was very busy belittling and yelling at the entire waitstaff during a rush. It really put a damper on the atmosphere of the restaurant. Get this manager into training before you lose your staff. On a lighter note our waitress Kelsey was awesome.
