So disappointing. We had a large group with 13 people that we made reservations for. I called about an hour and a half before reservations and asked if we could have the pizzas pre-ordered so we didn't have to wait long. The person on the phone made it sound like that was a great thing so that they could have the pizzas ready when we get there. I figured it was a win win deal. Once we got there, we waited 40 minutes for our pizzas to come. They were pre-ordered but it took 40 minutes to get. The worst part of it, is that they had been sitting on the shelf for a long time. They were lukewarm at best. They were definitely not hot. We had six pizzas in total and none of them were hot. The service was difficult to get attention. We paid five dollars per person for a salad but ran out of salad dressing and had to get up and go to the hostess stand to find a server so that we could have more dressing. For five dollars a person, you should not have to work so hard to get a decent salad. The server, although sweet, was not well trained. She got the wrong drinks, never asked anyone for refills, and didn't seem to really have a good management over the table. The worst part of this, was that the restaurant was not even crowded. It was a slow night despite the rushed feeling we got from the person who appeared to be the manager. When we had to address her about our service, she gave us the feeling that she was upset with us for even mentioning it. We drove in from out of state for a day in Chicago and we're definitely looking forward to Gino's East pizza. Sadly, this is been taken off our list of places to go to in the future. I don't mind paying the increased prices for a meal, if it's really good as Gino's has typically been. This place is definitely ruled out for me in the future though. Getting lukewarm pizza, having to send it back and still not have it be hot, and have no one address it, as if this is standard practice. I won't be back. read more

Long story short, the worst service, okay pizza and crap management. Had to hunt down the waiter to get the beers we ordered. Waited at least 20 minutes to get a box and our check, after letting manager know we weren't pleased. I didn't expect a free meal, but the pathetic apology they offered was pitiful. Used to like this place, not so much anymore. Save yourself the time and do not come here. So we went to Gino's East in Wheaton sat for an 1:40 min. The server forgot to put in our order. only after we asked for our appetizer did he say he forgot to order it. Then we find out he didn't put the pizza order in either .Then we waited a little more, he tried to bring us a check, I asked for our pizza and we got nothing in response so we left. The manager wasn't extremely helpful and neither was the server. They weren't overly busy when we got there, but got busy the longer we sat there. We ordered one deep dish spinach and one with giardinera, mushrooms, and green peppers. Both were steaming hot and served with a friendly staff. Deep dish with sausage in every bite. Love the patty versus crumble or chunks. Crust sets it apart from other popular places. Looks like cornmeal, but have heard conflicting accounts. When in Chicago, this is a must try. The combo I-beef and sausage was nothing special. A little jardinera would go a long way in transforming the sandwich. No no no. My mom and I ordered a medium sausage deep dish. No. I did not come home from Colorado to eat this garbage. It might have been the worst deep dish ive ever had to be quite frank. It was not oozing of cheese and the sauce was pretty flavorless. Even my mom agreed there was flavor missing from the pizza. It tasted mostly like bread. Buffalo chicken wings were fine. I saw the Ginoseast pizza place on Hellthyjunkfood YouTube channel and had to go, I didn't want to go downtown this late in the day so I went to the Ginoseast pizza in Wheaton on my four hour trip home because I wasn't leaving Chicago without tryin Gino'sEast. On a Wednesday night MARCH 1st 2023, I got right in at 8:00 PM and sat down. My server was amazing and the best, the young boy bussing tables was very attentive, kind, and very friendly. We got our perfectly cooked appetizers and shortly later we got the masterpieces of Chicago style deep dish pizzas we came here for. I have never in my life had a better Pizza, it was simply PERFECT AND AMAZING. I ordered the Chicago Fire Pizza and my wife got the Supreme pizza with pepperoni. We have never had better pizzas than this in our lives. Gino's East was AMAZING and we can't wait to go back every time we visit Chicago. I spent $130 on two XL pizzas, two sides, sodas with refills, and tip. The experience and amazing food which could feed 6-8 was perfect. We brought the leftovers home after the server perfectly boxed them up in foil and boxes for our long trip for us and will have them for days and days. I can't wait to visit this again and the other Gino's East pizza places in the future. The parking nearby was free which was very nice. Also a very nice neighborhood with no concerns on personal safety. Visit this very fine establishment whenever you can because I definitely will. read more

Came here for a private dining event and had great food and service. We had their salad which was fresh and came with different dressings and crunchy croutons. We also multiple pizzas that varied with pineapples, sausage, pepperoni, veggies, etc and were either deep dish and thin crust. I personally didn't like their crust of the deep dish as it was a little too dry and oily for me. They had chocolate chip cookies for dessert and that was super delicious! The only issue was having such a small space and their way they set up the tables were inconvenient for everyone as we had to scoot every time others wanted to get up. I've been going to this location for about 20 years...well over half my life (adamantly defend Gino's in the Chicago Pizza Wars). Service has always been mediocre at best but we always gave it a pass because we typically only did take out. Last week I was back in town after years and thought I would treat myself. Called to ask if they still did the "family night deal" (free 2L with a large). Guy on the phone says yes and confirms that it was, indeed, family night. I order the deal and he tells me $22. I add on wings, listed at $7.99. He tells me total is now $36. No biggy, I'll double check the receipt when I pick up. When I arrive, the tell me my order is $42. I ask about the charges and they send over the manager. She explains to me that it isn't family night. I explain what happened and she gets increasingly defensive. She then begrudgingly offers to give me the 2L anyway. I politely decline as I'm not interested in any free stuff, I just wanted to not be talked to like I was an idiot because your staff made a mistake. Then I let her know that the wings are listed on Google as $7.99 and I was charged $10. She said they would look into it. Judging by the other reviews I'm not the first person she has said that to. 20 years of poor service is enough. That was my last visit. read more

The only reason I gave this location 2 stars has to do with the fact that I like Gino's East pizza. There was nothing redeeming about the location itself to add any additional stars. I can tell you the whole sorted story, but what it all comes down to is we got bad service and luke-warm food. I have to wonder who they have running the place as when we mentioned our displeasure all we got was our server apologizing profusely in an awkward/defensive manner and a manager who made us feel as though we were wrong for complaining. All in all, I won't be running back to this Gino's East anytime soon. read more

I used to Love this pizza and would often order it. Tonite I ordered it online and apparently I messed up the order. Beyond the pizza being wrong the calamari was just rubber and grease. The food was mediocre at best for the price. What really makes me never want to go back is the way that staff treats you. I called at 6:30 and informed them my order was wrong. The guy looked at my ticket and said we can remake it. I had kids at my house and could not really just leave.. he offered to refund me and I said if they could deliver it--we live pretty close then I could do that. I call back the manager explains i messed up the order. I try and explain that the communication is a mess:.why tell me one thing and then do another. At this point I'm just frustrated..he kept saying you are wrong we will not remake.. so why when I called at 6:30 was I told they would do that and before was offered a refund.. he just said they were very busy. My biggest issue with this place is the lack of communication if you weren't gonna remake it be up front don't tell me one thing and then another because it isn't convenient for you. I just spent 100 bucks on your food and your going to fight with me over a 20 dollar pizza! He said at the end he would give me a gift certificate for 20 bucks..I told him would that magically be changing in a hour..seriously this place needs to learn that it's better to work with the customer not fight with them and speak to them as if they are a toddler.
