Coming to this pizza place in Winfield in the afternoon to place an order it was already chaotic. Gianorio's Pizza is locally owned by the same owners who operate a deli downtown. It has only a counter inside while outside there's a couple tables. Can be crazy busy inside. Try calling ahead because the wait times can be long. Basic strip mall place to get pizza with only a counter. It's only got a little space to go in front of the counter and order. The pizza menu is bigger than expected considering how cramped this place is and whatever. Best to call when making an order. Though it's risking getting messed up. It's about $10 for a personal sized pizza. Then add the charges for each topping. Adds up quickly, which is actually the idea. I got the Vegetable Pizza. Comes with green peppers, mushrooms, and onions. The rest of the menu features calzones and subs among other things. Funny thing about the hours. It's closed Mondays and Tuesdays. They're only open a few hours in the evenings including weekends. read more

They were inside prepping up pizza for lots of carryout ... and why we don't get the pizza already cooked we like taking these pizzas home and storing them in their freezer and in Edison Park. Ordered 1time a double dough XL with sausage for pickup and it was no doubt excellent, gone back to pickup I frozen pizza and 1 freshly made not cooked, was in the $30 plus range but oh well ! Immediately got home and cooked 1 up (freshly made) and it was nothing like the prior cooked was, nothing like it ! Definitely disappointed. My goodness how lucky are we that this is now our local pizza joint? Gianorios is pure perfection. Their food is so incredibly fresh and delicious. We've gotten pick up now a few times and they are just so consistent with the quality. Today we ordered a large regular thin crust with green peppers and onions, a slice of their homemade carrot cake, and the best garden salad. They have so many crust options! The regular thin is definitely thicker for what might be considered thin, but they also offer extra thin an ultra thin. We haven't tried anything else yet besides their regular thin because we enjoy that so much lol. I know we will eventually get to trying all the crusts. They also offer pan and stuffed pizzas! Their sauce is delicious and the cheese and veggies are always fresh and perfect. Such a solid Za here at Gianorios! Onto their garden salad - we get this every time. IT'S SO GOOD!!!! The veggies are so incredibly fresh and crisp and their ranch is some of the best I've had. It's also HUGE! Their carrot cake...omg. This thing is made with love. I love how they add both raisins and nuts in it. The cream cheese frosting was perfection. So far, this is the best carrot cake I've had from a restaurant ever. Have lived out of the Chicago area/suburbs for over 25 years. Moved to Wheaton a year ago and have been trying many pizza places. This is my favorite so far. Unfortunately only carry out but only 10 min. from our home. Al's is great too and you have the option to sit inside. Great to have choices. (Al's is closed on Sunday.) I moved to Tucson 14 years ago. The thing I miss most, is Gianorios's pizza. Every time I come back, my first meal is a large pepperoni! The sauce is amazing, the crust is perfect and the cheese is very generous. Service is prompt and friendly. This carryout only actually has a small table outside, but you're better off taking it to your own space because you'll want to share this amazing pizza with friends and family. Pizza is excellent, best in area of Winfield. Family owned and operated by direct family from grandma to daughter to granddaughter All staff are super nice and eager to help. Several types of crust, extra thin , very thin, thin or normal, think and deep dish. Excellent variety of toppings and plenty of them. Plus it doesn't bother them to divide them in many ways 1/2,1/4,1/6 squares or pie sliced. Ambiance -none, but service waiting is about 6 feet from prep area, with clear view of all workers waiting area surrounded by coolers filled with Italian desserts salads and frozen pizza. They even have soup. It's like a Philly or New York pizza and pizza spot. Best for over 30 years. read more

Absolutely some of the best pizza in the suburbs! The toppings were fresh and plentiful, the cheese is very creamy, and the sauce is just perfect. It's not a sweet sauce which I'm very thankful for. One of the best pizzas around but it's take out only so there's that. I would like to talk about their desserts though. Absolutely fantastic. The banana cream pie, carrot cake, chocolate cake and brownies are out of this world. They get them from this place in Winfield, and they sell out sometimes. The containers are so heavy but heavy with comfort goodness. You can also buy frozen pizzas and salads, but the pizza out of the oven in just plain outstanding. This pizza was fire! I'm normally a super thin crust guy. This was a little thicker but I was still pleased. The outer crust was awesome. Tons of cheese and plenty of toppings. From the zesty sauce on top, to the huge gobs of gooey cheese squeezing out from where it was cut...OMG, it is heaven on a plate. The one in Winfield is a small little place, carry-out only. But, that's fine with me. I'd rather be in my stretchy pajama pants when eating this goliath pizza! Their desserts are great too! Huge carrot cake that weighs a ton! I gave this place a couple of tries and I find it to be average at best. After hearing about it from other people I had high hopes and I just don't see it at all. I brought some home for a party and nobody made a peep about it. In fact, there was a lot left over and nobody took any home! It looks like the business is run well and they stay busy in there. 3 of my yelp friends had posted stellar reviews for this tiny, carry-out only, suburban pizza joint (*waves to Joe, Peter, and Pat* xD). So when I was hit with an undeniable pizza craving a few days ago, I turned to Gianorio's. I called in and ordered the 12" stuffed cheese ($14.50 for the 9" cheese, $18.50 for 12"). It takes about 50 mins to prepare. When I came in to pick up my order, I was promptly helped with friendly service by the young man at the counter. I remembered that I had to try their carrot cake, so I selected that, along with their banana cream pie. Both were generous portions that could easily feed 2-3 people. The total came to $30. When I physically picked up the pizza, I was impressed by its hefty weight haha. Now onto the pizza. For me, the flavorful sauce & cheese really elevated the pizza into awesome stratus. When I took my first bite, I was transported into my happy place. I may even have closed my eyes and made a few onomatopoeic sounds of appreciation lol. The sauce at first seemed sweet, but no, my tastebuds were tricked; it was more tangy than sweet. Perfect texture to the sauce too, thick and not overly chunky or runny. And of course the cheese was excellent, not bland at all. I was impressed that there weren't greasy pools leaking from the pizza considering the huge amounts of cheese that Gianorio's stuffed uses. Also, I was glad to note that the crust wasn't soggy, one of my pet peeves, though I'm lenient if it's leftover pizza. I noted a slight smokiness at times when biting into the crust, which I enjoyed. And even though I started out ravenous, I couldn't finish one slice, so big kudos! :D Of the two desserts, I loved the carrot cake. It was the richest carrot cake that I've ever tried, especially with that satisfyingly thick layer of luscious cream cheese frosting. I liked how the frosting wasn't overly sweet either. This cake was perfect & moist, and I honestly can't think of how it could be better. The banana cream pie was good, in particular, the buttery thick crust, but I can make better so I'll pass on this next time. EDIT June 2013 - Even after trying pizzas in Italy, I still think Gianorio's has some of the best sauce & cheese I've tasted. After returning to the US, I ordered a small stuffed ($14.50 for 9") and small sausage double dough. The stuffed was spot-on, but the double dough was too much bread for me. I wanted more sauce/toppings. The sausage was okay. I like White Cottage Pizzeria's sausage better. Next time, I plan on trying their thin pizza ;) read more
