This is my favorite pizza spot whenever I'm in the Warrenville area. They have indoor seating and a bar area. I always get mine to go. It's a very popular spot. So we had to wait for an hour. To receive our pizza but its definitely worth the wait. Second time here. Pizza was as delicious as I remember it years ago. Family owned with a good reputation. This pizza is thin crust which I prefer to be able to taste more of my toppings then dough. So if you're looking for a deep dish thick crust. You would need to go elsewhere. I dare say that Al's is my go to for tavern/thin crust pizza. Located directly next door to a bar that you can get to and from through a swinging door, this small spot is doing things right. Pizzas are cooked in a pan and each pie is seasoned unlike other places that just throw cheese and toppings on and call it a day. The sauce is evenly balanced with a slight sweetness to it. The crust is perfect for this type of pizza. Not cracker thin and not too thick. Toppings cover each order, and there's some honest to goodness flavor there especially the pepperoni. Dang. I just discovered this spot. So incredible. I saw this place mentioned on various Chicagoland pizza lists. Decided to give a shot. Boy, were we not disappointed. Ordered a plain cheese for the kids & a half sausage half pepperoni for adults. A bit thicker than "cracker crust" elsewhere and more cheese & cheese chew than other places I'd compare. But, dayum, Al's is really on point. The crispy crust and slight beautiful char on the top of these pies were top shelf all day. We loved their product & will definitely return. read more

Food 5 stars. Cooks and cashier 5 stars. Pizza is our absolute favorite. Kitchen team is always friendly and gracious. The owner refuses to look up and acknowledge us. I hate to make a negative review but tonight was really bad. We waited 1 hour 45 minutes for our pizza. They were very upfront about the hour wait, so we were prepared. Our pizza came out burnt! The crust was not edible. When we showed our uneaten crust to the young girl cleaning tables she said "you ate most of,the pizza, what do,you want a refund?". I explained to her that we just wanted the kitchen to know so it doesn't happen again....and I pointed out that all but one piece of crust was still on our plates because we could not even chew the crust! read more

Just Al's. Not fancy, not pretend-Italian, not spinach-artichoke-Gummibear or anything. Just Al's pizza. Which is really good pizza. It's American plain ol' unpretentious round with friendly sweetish sauce and mozzarella cheese on top. They're not overly generous with toppings, but I think they do that because it's the right amount. Because it's the right amount. Though I could have enjoyed more mushrooms. I got the Al's Special. Get that. The sausage is excellent, the onions are sweet. The 14" fed three adults, but we were hungry after finishing the whole thing. So we had ice cream. No harm, no foul. Go there. read more

Great Pizza, but get ready to be treated with rudeness and sarcasm by their staff. I called in for a takeout order and it was well over an hour for pick up and was treated so rudely by the owner. She was sarcastic, rude and unaccommodating in almost every way. This has been a favorite go to for years but disappointed with the service. They acted as if the customer doesn't matter. After being treated poorly for asking if they had a Hawaiin pizza and then getting reprimanded for asking for a medium and a large......"we only have 10", 12", 14" or 16". Then I was sarcastically embraced with another comment when I changed one of the orders. What a treat to be so rudely treated! Love their pizza but not anymore when treated so poorly and rude sarcastic treatment. Finally after a couple more zingers I was rudely hung up on when I mentioned that she might want to be more kind to their customers. Who needs that kind of treatment. ( I had written this almost a year ago and decided not to post as a courtesy. Today, I stopped by to order a quick lunch and ordered a pizza to eat in at their lunch area. Promptly at 12:55 pm one of the female staff said they were closed and I need to leave. I did not know they closed at 1:00 pm and I said Iwas almost done. "Could I just finish another piece or two and that I would try to hurry" A minute later the cook who had a beard and glasses came in and said we are closed and that I needed to leave, go to the bar, or take it with me. I said I am just trying to finish one more piece and go. Didn't they have to clean up or something? I would hurry and just wanted to quickly finish and I would try to make it quick. It was how they said it and that they seemed so unaccommodating. This place has fabulous pizza but their lack of friendly customer support, rudeness and lack of kindness leaves a lot to be desired! I love their food but they are horrible at making a customer feel welcome or that they are glad for your patronage and support!! They act as if they are put out and dont make you feel welcome!!! This is the third or fourth experience I have had at their restaurant like this. They need to all take lessons on how to treat patrons! Great pizza....poor service and attitudes. New to the area. We had their classic pepperoni after seeing it reviewed on barstool and had a coworker recommend it. We order ahead and pick it up to take home and it was SO GOOD for being a bar style pizza! We're from Joliet and it reminded me of Cemeno's before they changed their recipe. We haven't ordered pizza anywhere else since moving to the area in May 2024. The only reason I'm giving 4/5 stars is because 5/5 imo would be like a deep dish, blow your mind kind of pizza which I have yet to find. read more

This is meant to be constructive criticism because I see potential here it's just the employees need a little customer service training on how to conduct themselves in a family friendly environment. When we ordered the young man was not friendly or welcoming, just doing his job. My kid kept asking me why they were saying so many bad words. They were talking trash about customers after they picked up orders or ordered over the phone and that's not cool to do and definitely not cool to sit there and listen to. It was uncomfortable. Pizza tastes great - I would not order to eat in. We ordered 7:00 pm, sat down had a few drinks from the bar. Pizza came out after 8:00, no worries they are busy. Waitress tells us the dinning room closes st 8:00, ten minutes before they served it. With 7 people and the first time eating there it was awkward to say the least. We ate quickly as she stacked chairs around us. Great lesson for our kids on horrible customer service and awareness. Don't let a young inexperienced bus girl spoil the great taste! Perfect crispy crust, generous with the toppings (pepperoni, sausage, and mushrooms), the sauce is savory and not sweet, and the pizzas were done to perfection! They got the old oven, old school neighborhood vibe, old family recipe, and the old swingy door that separates the pizza restaurant from the bar/town tavern. Try the pepperoni pizza on the well done side... they make it how I love it with the pepperoni on top of the cheese so it gets a little crispy and charred.
