I signed up for gopher services last week. ( October 5) They text before they arrive to give us a "heads up". The service provider came. He put one trap in the front yard and one trap in the back yard to trap gophers. Today he came this morning. He found 2 gophers. Yah!] I will absolutely use their services again! read more

Gingrich Horticulture Service - Roscoe is happy as well. ;) - Pest Control Near Me - Concord, California

They take an authoritarian attitude towards you and your property, demanding that they can have access at any time without your presence, which IS JUST WRONG. I used their services last year, and the technician was amicable, knowledgeable and good, and caught a few critters, but the "office girl" has a snide, weird, authoritarian, implacably unmoveable attitude with regards to scheduling and her demands to access your property without you being present. She is impossible to work with. read more

Knowledgeable efficient 100% effective. Love these guys. I highly recommend their services.

I noticed several fresh mounds of dirt in my yard and I was getting ready to install a new sod lawn. I left a voicemail on Sunday and got a call back the next morning. The service was clearly explained to me and we set an appointment. The very next morning Alex came out, determined I had moles and set several traps with white flags to mark where the traps were. He also left several yellow flags for me to mark any new activity. He came back 7-10 days later just as he said he would and we had our mole! I was happy with their service from beginning to end. Great communication and very reasonable price. read more

We placed them on retainer for new gopher activity after they promised 1-2 business days response. The response became 7-10 days once traps were set. Don't believe their promises! read more

Very poor customer service stemming from the office staff. Very difficult company to work with and will cancel you and hang up in your face. Requests go unanswered and the high prices are charged per month every month but service is approximately every 6 weeks. Save yourself the trouble and find another company. Response: Funny how quick a response came with a bunch of nonsense. Too bad this company can't respond to customers like they respond to social media. Just read the other comments which are all in line with how my interaction played out with the female representative. No demands were made. I asked to speak to the owner multiple times or have him call me back at his convenience. The female on the phone denied every request. I discussed how the pricing was paying for a monthly service and not getting a monthly service. Then I suggested a monthly visit and she got very indignant about the contract and what it states. When I said that I was aware of the contract, she got very aggressive and hung up on my call. I have requested a call back from the owner. If he cares, he will call back. read more

Look elsewhere. Service dependent on technician. Absent management. REPLY to OWNER: Your office sent a text suggesting, 'we would like to have technician onsite tomorrow ... we would need to hear back from you before we access the property' .. We never responded, but you entered the property anyway and subsequently cancelled our service. read more

John is the man! Every time he comes out he gets a catch, he knows what he is doing is and is very nice. Gingrich as whole has been great, we use them to do the fertilizer around the property and everything is doing really well. Very impressed. read more

It was hard to believe a mole had taken up residence in our tiny backyard but this company was the greatest. They set traps and left them for a couple of days then came back and took the mole away in the trap. Their communication is excellent - texts to say when they are coming and follow up emails with detailed service reports. read more

Would definitely like to talk with owner. The young lady I spoke with earlier today was quite helpful. Explained that someone would be out in a day or two. Great. Received a text that stated someone was on their way. Great explained where the problem was and if they had any questions call me while on site. Received an email stating they couldn't see anything after walking around the building. Well had they called and had they listened they would have known it wasn't around the building. It was around the perimeter of the asphalt. Called the office and a very angry gentleman proceeded to lecture me about how texting gps and how his colleague could not have gotten anything wrong. I said I'm sorry for bothering you. His response "what does that mean" do you not want the service. Respectfully no! I'm certain that the "family owners" are very proud. Good luck. read more

They used to have very good company values. Well trained techs and customer satisfaction was a priority. Now the quality has slipped through the cracks and if there is a problem you can't speak directly with anyone senior, you deal with the office staff which can have it's issues. The services are too expensive for average performance. I had been a customer for many years but was forced to cancel my services. read more

I had a good experience with this company about 8 years ago, so called them this time for a similar mole problem. The field technician was fine, and their procedures were as before. But when I emailed to say I was having recurring activity, and understood their return was "within 10 days", but that from my point of view, the sooner the better, their email replies were initially terse, then immediately went to " you can go somewhere else". I protested saying, "I'm a retuning customer- I understand your process. I just find it mysterious. Kindly treat your customers with respect", I immediately got a "service discontinued" email. This was a bizarre experience - but I can now boast of having been fired by an exterminator! Pretty much the lowest form of life on the planet! These people are so defensive, you can't even explain that you are experiencing some natural skepticism of a basically unseen process, without their telling you you can go elsewhere! I'm happy to go anywhere else, given the rudeness and snippiness of these people! The company is obviously under new management or ownership. Stay away! read more

First off, Gingrich Horticulture Service is in the landscape health business. They are NOT a "mow and blow" company. I was referred to this company to address the terrible (annual) aphid infestation that plagues several trees on our block. The owner himself, John Gingrich, came out to inspect, and deduced the situation: We have one Chinese Hackberry tree planted in front of our house off to the side. The tree attracts a near-invisible swarm of aphids, and their poop covers the driveway, street, and our cars with a sticky, glaze-like film that eventually hardens and makes the surface of your car feel like the skin of an orange. And although it washes off easily with water, it ruins a car wash within hours and this goes on from March thru November EVERY YEAR! Anyway, John figured out if you inject nicotine into the soil - and it gets absorbed by the tree roots - it makes the leaves and berries unappetizing to the aphids and they depart (thus not being present to poop all over the cars!) We had an early season treatment in February just as the tree was blooming, and a return treatment in April after seeing a few telltale "drops" - although MUCH less than in previous years. Greatly looking forward to the heat of the summer when it usually hits the peak - and NOT having to wash the cars every 3 days! Call John at Gingrich if your yard needs smart help. read more

I'm someone who lets just say does not have a green thumb. I've got a backyard with trees and more weeds than I can count. I honestly didn't even know where to start. I called the experts at Gingrich because i wanted to make sure i know what to do and i'm glad i did. One of my trees looked like it was dying and i was thinking it should be removed. I know that leaving a hazard like a dead tree on your property is not smart. Even if I'm not legally responsible for the damage it causes (I'm an insurance guy after all) I still would feel terrible if someone was injured by something i could have prevented. Gingrich was very honest and helpful. They could have easily told me it needed to be pulled and charged me a bunch for removal, which a lot of places would have done. Instead, they informed me that the tree was overrun with aphids. They gave helped me get rid of the aphids and the tree is healthy again. I appreciate it when a business goes the extra mile to not only save a tree, but to give the customer proper and honest advice. This is a family owned business and i always try to support local people whenever possible. If you have any concerns in your yard, consider calling these folks first. read more

Very odd customer service? I wanted to treat my yard every two months but the customer service rep Ashley danced around the conversation saying that it's every 6 to 8 weeks treatment??? So I really don't want to pay a whole years worth for couple thousand dollars, I rather just do every other month or every two months but nope it's 6-8 weeks or the high road??? I'm not sure if they do a one time treatment because she wasn't very clear on that or anything really except 6-8 weeks treatment? Pretty annoyed because they came very highly recommended by my gardener too bad they couldn't give me a better payment plan or any other options for that fact disappointed. read more

service was as advertised albeit not wholly effective (3 months no captures 275 paid). IMPORTANT to note - If the service had captured my problem mole(s) id have nothing but good things to say about my experience. Problem mole came back, restarting service based on prior conversations was as simple as a phone call and back to work we go with what I thought was a 100$ fee for any critters caught since my original amount was paid in full. I wasn't interested in paying full amount to restart service as the service was not effective before and the guarantee is only 30 days. I was never told when I originally signed up this was how their service worked should this scenario play out and it would have made me consider other options more seriously given the much larger cost. Shame on me as the rude customer service rep had to reminded me as he talked over me - everything is in the service notes. I have had a mole destroying my lawn and yard for past few years. I decided to hire Gingrich Horticulture to come trap and get rid of the mole. They were very fast at getting to my house and very professional. They set up about 10 traps in my yard. The mole kept making mounds and runs all around them, without getting caught. 10 days later they came to check the traps and moved them because they hadn't caught the mole. After another 10 days the mole disappeared so they pulled the traps. A day after pulling their traps the mole showed up and made 6 mounds overnight! I went on Amazon and bought a GopherHawk trap and caught the mole the very first day I put it out!! Sure wish I had done this before spending $225 for nothing. Gingrich is a solid company but if you have a mole problem buy yourself a gopherhawk trap and save your money!! read more

They gave a quote for gopher baiting with trap follow-up if needed that was 70% of the other offer. The baiting seemed effective, and I stopped paying attention because I was told in my work order and in person that they would do a follow-up check. It turns out they don't do that for baiting, and I didn't notice that holes had reappeared until after my 4 weeks was up, at which point they were unwilling to do any follow-up. A good deal if you keep an eye on things yourself, but really misleading customer service. read more

We reached out to Gingrich based on a referral. Unfortunately we had an extremely disappointing experience. We always try to support local businesses and avoid the larger guys for many reason, but Gingrich turned out to be even more dishonest and unprofessional than any service provided we have ever used. We reached out to Gingrich to look into our gopher problem, during the technician's visit he led us to believe that we did not have a gopher problem but rather a ground squirrel problem. We trusted the experts and had them treat as they recommended but I did decide to stay very close to the treatment process and check daily to determine if the treatment was working or if the traps had caught anything. Neither the bait stations nor the traps showed any signs of activity what so ever. After 2 weeks of this we asked Gingrich to remove their so called treatments. They even tried to tell me that I would not see any activity as the bait would be eaten and the ground squirrels would die underground. Since I was monitoring the bait stations at least 1 or 2 times a day, I told them that I did not seen any bait consumption. Their response was that their technician has been refilling the bait stations. Unfortunately I know that this is impossible as the access to our yard is locked from all sides and he would have had to jump a 6 foot fence to access our yard without consent if this indeed were true. After the removal of their "treatments" we had very extensive landscaping work done to our yard. During this process we found and got rid of at least 10 gophers through our own means. As such we decided to challenge Gingrich on even having to pay for their services since they misled us and treated a non existent ground squirrel problem. In response they threatened to take legal action if we did not pay our invoice. To be fair we even tried to partially settle the invoice but to no avail. We have since paid the invoice in full to avoid any complications as the practices Gingrich demonstrated were very retaliatory and we did not want to have any problems. If it is not frustrating enough to have to deal with these type of rodent problems, to have an "expert" operate their business so dishonestly with no regards to dealing with their customers problems is beyond comprehension. BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THIS SERVICE PROVIDER THEY HAVE NO INTEREST IN SOLVING YOUR PROBLEM, THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT MAKING A BUCK!!! read more

We contacted Gingrich about something eating our newly planted diamondia in the back yard, rodent holes in the front yard, and an underground wasp nest. They were extremely knowledgeable and helpful on the phone, helped us decide not to deal with the voles in the front yard saving some money, showed up on time, and did what they said they would. It's too early to tell whether they've got the mole yet in the back, but I'm pretty impressed so far. read more

I first contact Gingrich several years ago when our neighborhood gardens were invaded by gophers. We hired Gingrich Horticulture Service in the summer of last year to take care of the ground squirrel problem in our backyard. The owner came and presented the company very professionally. The problem is what the owner told us and what the workers did were not the same. Owner recommended to place 2 bait stations, 1 in the front yard and 1 in the back, and later to relocate 1 station to the back. The worker never did it even after we pointed it out. In any case, the bait seemed working, as we saw less squirrel activities. In December, the worker came and emptied all the baits and said it was a normal thing to do. He told us to contact them if new activities are present. Early February, we saw more squirrels coming out and called the office. The office said they cannot do anything because it was "illegal" to put out the bait at that time. We are now at the end of May, no technician has come to place any more bait and we have seen new squirrel babies running all over the backyard. We have decided not to call this company any more. It is a total fake trying to look good on the outside, but basically doesn't do anything and charges a lot of money once you sign a contract. We are very disappointed! read more
