Several years back, my lawn was removed and replaced with a nice-looking rock wall plant garden. When I met with Blair, I told him I wanted a garden that was as low-maintenance as possible. I was tired of weeding and spending days gardening. At first, the job looked great. However, when the next spring rolled around, I had grass and weeds coming up EVERYWHERE. I called and complained. Blair came out and met with me. He said no when I asked if he put a weed guard down before the mulch. Blair said he disapproves of weedguard "as it's not good for the environment." I then reminded him that I had said I wanted a maintenance-free yard, and this certainly did not meet that goal. Blair offered nothing to mediate the issue and had an "oh well, sorry" attitude. His only solution was to provide me with his monthly maintenance service (at a regular price), which I flatly rejected! Sorry, Blair, you're not getting a monthly stipend for incorrectly doing the job. I don't need to be a landscaping expert to know that if you dig up a lawn and then throw mulch on top, the grass seeds are sure to germinate and come through. Since installing my "maintenance-free" yard, I have been out there several times a year, having to pull grass and weeds out of the site--exactly what I didn't want to do. Blair does the work however he wants, not how the customer wants it done. Following the installation, I kept getting email requests from the company asking me to review them. I told them to stop sending me requests because the review would not be good. I also instructed them to remove the photos of my yard from their site, which they did. This review would never have come around, except that I noticed the other day, while searching for a gardener to clean up this year's mess, that my photos are back on the site, unauthorized. Take them down!! Again, Blair does what appears to be a nice job in the beginning. However, the customer's desires fall on deaf ears. Had I known how he felt about Weedguard, I would never have hired him. The outcome would have been very obvious had he told me. That, combined with the fact that no remediation was offered, shows what kind of company this is. read more

Aeratorman - Backyard lawn - Gardeners Near Me

Well, that was easy. Contacted Aeratorman last week about my front lawn (needed de-thatch and aeration.) I received a call-back right away and discussed the job details. The office person arranged to have A-man stop by while he was in the neighborhood later in the week. Turned out, I was just leaving when he rolled up on Thursday. He took a quick look, quoted the job and we agreed upon a Saturday appointment. Dateline Saturday: while out picking up my kid from Mathnasium, Aeratorman stopped by and performed the de-thatch, aeration and fertilized. Price seemed reasonable, definitely easy to deal with, quick and clean. 5 stars for Aeratorman. (Second time I've used this guy, BTW.) read more

Blair provided some good insights on how we could improve our lawn, from checking sprinklers to aerating, thatching and over seeding in the spring. I appreciated his recommendation to aerate & thatch in the fall even though we have always done it in the spring. When we need more work that I don't want to pull off, we'll ring his phone! read more

The services provided by Blair and his team have made a huge improvement to our curb appeal. It was a very easy process and the pricing was very reasonable. We started with no formal plan and the design came together after talking with Blair. He was flexible and listened when we wanted changes made. The crew consisting of Oriel and Diego was the best; they always showed up on time and cleaned up each day before leaving. In addition to the front landscaping, we also had some work done on our back yard consisting of sprinkler repair/replacement, trimming, border replacement and lawn maintenance. Everything was done to perfection and we are very pleased with our choice and will continue to use this company for ongoing lawn care. I would not hesitate to recommend Blair and his crew for any landscaping/lawn project. read more

He is wonderful! Most of the people I hire to work on my yard, tree, fence etc. Are so unreliable and never show up. I've been using him for years and he's the best! It definitely helps my grass. He even fertilizes it! I highly recommend him! read more

Aeratorman definitely could have been better. Price was 20% higher than quoted to by phone before arriving despite them not being able to aerate part of my lawn and our lawn being smaller than most in the neighborhood. They spent about 15 minutes at my house. with one guy working while the other one hung out near his truck. Missed some parts of the lawn. Seemed to be in a rush to get the job done and leave. read more

I had an excellent experience with Blair and his team. They are our go-to landscapers from this point on. I had a mess of a large backyard and knew something had to be done, but what? I talked to a couple landscapers but their ideas were just ok and the prices seemed high, to me. Blair came to the house and immediately came up with a way of re-using resources existing in the yard - along with all new high quality flagstone - to help with a full yard renew. Importantly, it was for the best price. Blair's team was on-time, polite, effective and efficient. All in all, a great set of guys. I'm hyper-pleased with the result and with the experience! Note: We are in no way associated or affiliated with the company or any of its employees, nor were we compensated for this review in any way. We are just happy with the result and cost. read more

Prompt and friendly service . Aerated and de thatched my lawn. They did a good of leaving the work area nice and clean

Communication snafu with office led to them showing up at my door unexpectedly. I was fine with that but the lawn had not been watered and was too hard to be properly aerated. They ran the machine around anyway, although it did very little. It got clogged a lot and very few plugs were extracted. After they left I bought a hand aerator and did the lawn myself :( read more

Work contracted was Prompt and professionally done. Would hire this service again for landscaping projects.

I texted the owner and he asked me for my address so that he could come out to give me an estimate. After providing that information I waited for a day or two but I never heard from him. I called multiple times and left messages and still never heard from him. I shouldn't have been surprised as this seems to be typical California customer service or lack thereof. read more

They were prompt and efficient. The price was reasonable. They offered ideas for an area that was full of tree roots, as well. I'd recommend them for aeration and fertilization- read more

Price is steep for services provided. They did aerate at the going price but felt they oversold the thatching service as its a similar extra step but costs significantly more than time on job site would dictate in my opinion. To their credit the offered to alter the price to accommodate. read more

Blair and team did an incredible job with our front and side yard! We were under an almost impossible deadline with an upcoming wedding and Blair got it done well ahead of time. We could not be happier with the craftsmanship and dedication to our new and improved front and backyard, provided by Aeratorman and owner Blair Nicholson. He and his staff listened to our needs and provided their expertise throughout the process and we are just thrilled with the outcome. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for an expert who can transform your lawnscape into a beautiful landscape of the highest degree! read more

Blair has been doing our lawn aeration for years and last year he designed and executed a total make-over of our back yard, removing the sad-looking remnants of a lawn and replacing it with a beautiful, colorful, drought-tolerant landscape. We are delighted with it and recommend you talk to Blair first if you are considering improving your yard. Since we invested a lot of money in the landscaping project, we also hired Blair and his team to do our weekly maintenance, and are thoroughly satisfied with the service. read more

I have been using Blair's Aeratorman service for about 5 years now. He is consistent about calling to schedule aerator and fertilizing appointments on a yearly basis, which is great, because I would definitely forget! He also is honest and lets me know if my lawn requires a thatching service or not. His prices are very reasonable and affordable considering all the high priced landscape services in the Diablo valley area. They give two hour window, are prompt and courteous upon arrival. He is very good at offering ideas for landscaping and lawn care, taking into consideration our drought conditions we now have. I would highly recommend Blair's service to anyone in need of lawn maintenace or landscaping/hardscaping service! read more

Blair and his guys are great. I have been working with them for five years since I bought my house. I wanted a front yard that needed as little maintenance and water as possible but looked nice. Blair put in a great variety of rock, plants, and mulch. I have one of the "brownest thumbs" around, and my yard still looks great five years later. Blair has also transformed my backyard using the same - minimal water and maintenance - criteria with flag stone and accent rock. Their ongoing service (I have every other week) is also great. They will keep things neat and clean for a reasonable price, and if you ask for something they always get it done. I love coming home after they visit to see my tidy yard! read more

Blair and his assistant came to our house on Mar 6, 2017 and thatched, aerated our front lawn, which needed it after several years of limited watering from the drought years. He came back a couple days later to finish the process by re-seeding and covering lawn with new soil/compost material. 3 weeks later, the lawn has come back excellently, and filling in where many bare spots had occurred. Thanks so much for renewing our lawn ! read more

FANTASTIC! Informative, HONEST and very helpful. I am looking forward to using again and again. My sprinklers were not covering all of my grass and even tho I have cut back on watering due to the drought I still want to try and keep the grass just a little green. Aeratorman came out and found a sprinkler that had been turned off! Turned it on and now everything works well! they fertilized and aerated the front and back yard and then also thatched the front yard. Told me that the back yard was not in good enough condition to thatch at that time - I LOVE HONEST COMPANIES!!! Great group of guys and I will continue to use them and refer them :) Thank you Aeratorman! read more

So pleased with Aeratorman.com! Made appt for lawn aeration and fertilizing service for a Saturday morning and was given a 2 hr window. Blair and his crew showed up on time and immediately got to work. I also asked Blair's opinion on some ideas for a small retaining wall on the side of my property which needed some TLC. He had some great ideas, we agreed on a price and he was actually able to get started that day. Two days later he came back with his crew to finish the job. I was really happy with the results AND the fact that he was committed to finishing the job right away. Blair and his crew were friendly, very professional, and reliable. I will absolutely call upon Aeratorman.com for all of my yard projects! read more

In May, I found Aeratorman online and contacted them via their website. Brandy, Owner, returned my call the next day. We spoke about our "blank canvass" backyard and I told her what my husband and I are doing and then would need to bring in a landscaper. Brandy followed up, via email on 7/6/16, to see where we were at in our progress. I responded to her to let her know that unfortunately, we were financially ready for them. My first comment to her was that what great customer service to follow-up and that I really appreciated it and mentioned that I would give them a great review just on that, so here I am. I told Brandy that once our finances get better that we will give them a call. Lastly, how many businesses actually do send a follow-up a month later just to check it, not that many. So just on this great customer service experience, I can imagine how it must be just to work with the whole crew; I'm sure it's a great experience. read more
