Ginger House seems more set up for takeout than dine in. Went by for dinner with a friend not knowing how small this place is. This is an FYI, not a criticism! They have one booth that seats 4-6 persons and a table for two. (The booth was occupied by the owner's very cute kids.) The menu is quite large and everything we ordered was very tasty. I got the Lemongrass Soy Protein which came with brown rice and very flavourful miso soup, and the Salt and Pepper King Oyster Mushroom Fritters. Both tasty and generous portions. My friend got the Stir Fried Udon and Barbeque Vegan Ribs, also very good. I definitely recommend the food here. Something to note is that they serve the food in proper dishes but use disposable plastic cups and utensils. The rice is served in disposable cardboard tubs. I'd recommend bringing your own cups and utensils if dining in, and requesting no utensils at the very least when ordering takeout or delivery. Please consider that these items will be around polluting the planet for centuries in return for a few minutes of convenience. We can't afford to consume like this. Also, Ginger House isn't a vegan business as they serve dairy ice cream and use cow's milk for beverages. Their other food is animal-free. Please skip the dairy items. Look into what the dairy industry does to the animals and planet, and the pandemic risk it poses, to understand why the dairy industry has no place in our world. read more

I wish every neighborhood had a spot like Ginger House to accommodate people looking for vegan versions of their favorite Chinese/Asian takeout dishes. We ordered recently for the first time, and were happy with our experience. Of the 3 appetizers we got, my favorite was the crispy watercress and soy cheese wontons. They reminded me of crab rangoon, but they felt so much lighter than that. It came with a mango sauce that I liked on its own, but not so much with the wontons. The crispy spring rolls were also very tasty. The crispy soy protein nuggets (probably should have tried a non-fried appetizer too, but I guess that will have to wait until next time) were a little bit too fried for my preference, but I liked the BBQ sauce that accompanied it. We ordered 2 mains. The eggplant and string beans was what you would expect from that standard Chinese takeout dish, with a thick spicy garlic sauce. We also got the basil soy protein, which came with lots of zucchini, asparagus, and bell peppers. The texture of the soy protein there was so similar to chicken that at times I forgot the dish was vegan. Both were really good, and I would get either of them again. Each entree also came with a choice of soup or salad, which was a nice bonus, plus rice, either coconut white rice or brown rice. I used to order from here a lot pre pandemic until their prices shot up. I have since ordered from here but not frequently. I feel that the quality of the food has gone down. I was in the mood for pineapple fried rice and bbq ribs and they are close by so I decided to give it a shot. I was disappointed when I got my food. Portion wise, it was more than okay but the ham in the rice was way too small for it to be noticed, flavor wise when I ate. The bbq ribs were just okay, nothing spectacular and the container was packed with a ton of sliced cucumber which I didn't eat. I feel like I paid 7 dollars for cucumber and a few pieces of the ribs. So the best part of my dish was finding a piece of PLASTIC in my food. NOT HAPPY AND NOT GOOD. Suffice it to say that I will never be ordering or coming here again...AT ALL!!!! This is definitely a take-out joint rather than a fine dine in experience. I nearly scared the beep out of my family. When we arrived, the place was empty and the tables were unclean- mysterious sauce was stuck to tables and you could tell they haven't been dusting at all. Sanitation aside... I thought the food was great. All the dishes we ordered had great flavor and textures. The mock meats were spot on with the textures. However, the dishes took a hefty amount of time to come out. Then the side of rice we ordered took even longer, because apparently the waitress forgot. I honestly don't blame her, because one, generally most folks eat the dishes without extra rice (but I can't help it I am in love with rice) and two, they were pretty much swamped with take-out others. I must have seen the delivery guy bust out 10 orders every several minutes during my stay. I've gotten delivery from Ginger House quite a few times now!! Reliable vegan place to order from. Generous portions and yummy food. I especially love the Kimchi Fried Rice! I also like their salt & pepper mushrooms, and Thai basil fried rice. There is a large variety of appetizers and entrees to choose from. They use a bunch of soy protein based faux meats. We ordered delivery to our hotel on our recent visit to Brooklyn and were blown away by the huge range of amazing options. We tried a few different dishes. First, the fresh mango rolls w/ with cucumber mango sauce, which was a sweet refreshing combination. Next up, the Malaysian curry w/ coconut rice - very fragrant and flavorful. Vegan chicken onigiri w/ spicy mayo was good but my absolute favorite was the stir-fried kimchee udon - delicious and not as spicy as the description indicated. Since I recently moved to Brooklyn I've been using Grub Hup (cross referenced with Yelp of course) to findgood places to eat! I typed in Thai and this venue came back as having on of the highest star ratings. It is vegetarian which I didn't realize till after I ordered but it was ok. I ordered: Miso mushroom soup: a little watery but was very tasty and loaded with shrooms Mixed green salad with ginger dressing: small salad made of iceberg lettuce some cucumber slices, carrot shavings and a grape tomato with tasty dressing Thai "vegi" seafood: I didn't realize that this meant pseudo-seafood at the time (clearly my error) composed of vegi-fishcake, seafcod and mixed veggies (per paper menu). This was served with brown rice and curry sauce. It was "ok". I am not crazy about fake seafood but the curry sauce was good and there was a vegetable overload! The delivery was super fast! Way faster than predicted by GrubHub. I think if I had to take someone to a vegetarian restaurant I would have this food again but with so many other options around I think I'd explore more. read more

One time I order Tom Yum soup and found a hair in it. I called, not looking for anything other then, to make them aware so that they can make adjustments to avoid this problem. The food itself is great, some of the best drunken noodles I have had in a while. Plus non of this is actually real meat. I'm not a vegetarian and I usually prefer the option of meat over soy protein. However, the soy protein and "soy ham" they got is dynamite. Very flavorful and compliments all the dishes. Absorbs the flavor very well and gives you that meaty consistency that you crave at times. I got their Thai basil fried rice which is my favorite along with the above drunken noodles! The subtle hints of cumin and coriander really make these dishes simple yet flavorful. I found the flavors of the malayasian curry a bit too over powerful, but...to each there own. read more

This place is awesome, exactly what I need in the neighborhood. I never physically stopped by and dine in, but I had it for delivery just prior to this review. I was scrolling down and for the first time ever, I finally see places that uses seitan as a meat substitute. I was so thrilled since I never had one before. I was excited to try this place and decided to drop in on Saturday night. We decided to eat in because we were hungry and had to run some errands before going home. I should have known it wasn't exactly a sit down restaurant but more like a Chinese takeout with some seating. The samosas were very good. The chutney was delicious and had a spicy bite to it. Eggplant and bean dish was good, especially the eggplant but the sauce was not that great and was not spicy enough. The miso soup that came with one of the mains was no different than what I've had at Japanese places... good. Drunken noodles were too mushy and slightly greasy. There was not enough flavor or spice. It tasted more like a Chinese dish than Thai. The table was not clean. We had to ask her to wipe it and even then it was not that clean because it probably had not been cleaned in a long time. We also had to ask for napkins twice. We were not served water. The service was slow but I chalked it up to the very brisk delivery business they were doing. I had read just a few reviews before going here and was impressed by the 4 stars. OMG! I love this place. My boyfriend ordered take out from this place once and raved about it so much that I had to try it for myself. We ordered the vegetable dumplings and Indian pancake for appetizers. They were both so good. The Indian pancake was a little too greasy. I had to dry it in a paper towel before dipping it into the delicious curry sauce. I ordered the Thai basil fried rice and he got the drunken noodles for our main dishes. These were both so amazing. The soy protein tastes better than actual meat! They both had a nice spice to them as well and the were bursting with flavor. The portions are very generous, especially for the price. My boyfriend also tried their vegan chocolate cake and their vegan peanut butter cake. He loved them both.
