This place is horrible. It took forever to anyone to take our order. I ordered the curry chicken. The food was cold. I had to ask the busser to warm up my food, there was no waiter in sight to ask. When I got my food back, only the rice was warmed and parts of the chicken and veggies were super cold still. The service was horrible no one came to ask if everything was ok or if we needed any more water.... I wouldn't recommend coming here.... I wont be coming back.... The restrooms were discussing stuff all over the stalls....on the floors there was some gooey stuff in the restroom floors. Just horrible. read more

Bomb! Totally hit the spot I didn't even know needed to be hit lol. Random stop on the way home and glad we did! The waiters were nice. Food was ok(some dishes were unnecessarily salty. And while eating we noticed nats flying around. And we looked up on the walls and they were covered w them. And while eating I saw three nats in our food. One in the wonton soup, one in my soy sauce dish, and the other in the soy sauce bottle. We told the waiter but it seemed like they gotten complaints already and it was more of a management issue. I give the food a 5, the service a 8, and the nat situation just brought my rating down. I saw this spot with somewhat decent ratings & a few of my Yelp buddies have also been here so I decided to call in & place an order. I got quite a few things to try. The steamed charsiu pork buns were ok. The dough wasn't as soft as what I'm used to & the meat inside wasn't as flavorful, but it was good enough. The baby pig custard buns pretty much disappeared before I got a chance to try them so I guess the kids must have really liked them, which is a good sign. The sea bass dumpling were actually pretty good, even though I don't think I've ever had dumplings with fish in them before. The pork siu mai were also ok. Nothing special. The pandan mochi dumplings were pretty good. Not overly sweet & you can actually taste the coconut flavor. The lobster dumplings were our least favorite. 4.5 stars. Honestly, this place totally surprised me. It doesn't look attractive on the outside at the end of the retail strip, but when you walk inside, you will get a different feeling. It is beautifully decorated, welcoming, very inviting, and service is good. Their spacious bar looks great at the front entrance. You can see old Chinese antique props used as decorations here. Most importantly, it is very clean and the staff is attentive. Dim sums were very good, especially the crispy fried fish, something that I would rarely order at most Chinese restaurants. The ingredients they use are pretty good here. Everything was flavorful and the presentations of each dish were great. I enjoy sitting in for a few hours while enjoying everything on my table. It doesn't matter which angle you look at it. It's beautiful and well maintained inside. Golden pompano fish is delicious and so are their all fish fillets. Steamed buns are all very soft and yummy. Chili soft shell crabs are worth trying. Try the squid ink lobster dumpling because it is rare and you don't usually see it at other Dim Sum places. To me, you are paying for great food portions here if you order their entrees. Huge! Don't forget to ask for the soy sauce and red chili sauce. Prices have gone up $1-$1.50 since year 2020. I say this because while I was enjoying my soup ( Seafood Tofu Hot Pot priced at $18). I found a small clumped up piece of plastic! Super alarming since it is soup I almost choked :( it was clumped up like a ball. My guess is that Ginger Cafe wraps their bok choy to seal in freshness but that small error cost me my meal I stopped eating the soup. I placed an order to go and had my son pick it up because my husband and I are sick. The Food was not fresh or even complete. I ordered an egg foo young and got dried up egg Patties with no flavor at all. To make it worse, they forgot to pack the sauce so it was not edible. The soup had old looking mushrooms and no meat. We went to Pineapple Village 2 days ago and got 2x the amount and way better fresher food for the same price. The service was very very bad. Tim was extremely rude. My boyfriend's niece and I were on a mission to find dim sum somewhere between Morgan Hill and Gilroy, which is where she's from. I easily found Ginger Cafe via Yelp. By default, it was the first dim sum restaurant that popped up with decent reviews. I was pleased with my experience at Ginger Cafe, and I'd say that the restaurant was totally up to par in satisfying my dim sum craving especially in the Morgan Hill/Gilroy area. Ginger Cafe is located around the Gilroy outlets but in a less crowded strip of the outlets. The restaurant was very tidy and actually looked fairly new. Since my boyfriend's niece and I were the first customers, we had no issues with the speed and attentiveness of the wait staff. The dim sum didn't come around rolling on carts, which assured that the dim sum came out fresh. Our waiter also specified that the steamed dim sum items take around 20 min to make. Though I was honed in on the dim sum, the menu in general was pretty extensive. We ordered the steamed dim sum sampler, blue crab dumplings, soft shell crab spring rolls, and pandan mochi. The blue crab dumplings came out first since these were pan fried. While the crab dumpling I had was fine, I couldn't tell that it was stuffed with crab. The steamed sampler comes with 2 each of the lobster dumplings, sea bass dumplings, sting ray dumplings, and siu mai. Among the 4 dumplings, the siu mai was my favorite. It's honestly your standard siu mai, but the sliced Chinese sausage pieces made it that much better. My 2nd favorite was the sting ray dumpling. Don't worry, it's not made with sting ray meat. It's a cute little sting ray shaped dumpling made with a shrimp ball on a crab claw. It even has black sesame seed eyes. LOL. A+ for creativity! I enjoyed this dumpling, but the rice dumpling wrapper was too thick. The sea bass dumpling was OK. There was nothing too special about it, but the sea bass was nice and flaky. The lobster dumpling was my least favorite. The lobster dumpling is stuffed with peas and corn, so it was too fusion-y for my liking. The soft shell crab spring rolls were very good! They were a nice alternative to the basic shrimp and pork fresh Vietnamese spring rolls. The soft shell crab was perfectly deep fried and crunchy. Lastly, my boyfriend's niece and I saved the pandan mochi for dessert. The pandan mochi is a bit of a misnomer though, because it's not like mochi at all. It's really a steamed dumpling made with taro root filling and a pandan flavored rice wrap. The taro root filling was really dense, but other than that, I enjoyed the pandan mochi. read more

This place is A-OK and in a good location for us to stop in for lunch. We like going to Lululemon Outlet and finding a restroom during our drives south. Just tried this place and it was good for our craving for Chinese food. We both liked out dishes. Wife had a mango, coconut milk, chicken over rice dish that was delicious. My chow fun with a seafood stir fry on top was tasty at $16 which is a little expensive for lunch. I barely ate the whole thing as it was a large dish that was probably meant to share. After countless takeout orders I've placed here, I have never had any problem with my order. The past two trips though have been a different story. Last weekend, I placed an order as I always do on the Eat24 app. When came to pick up the food, the staff member said something along the lines of "we didn't place the order because you have to call to verify the order". I call bullsh**. That has never been an issue. What would be the point of ordering through the app if that was the case. It was just a sorry excuse for them screwing up and not putting in the order. So yesterday. I placed the order on the app. I call several minutes later to confirm the order was placed. They got the order down. Okay great. I go to pickup the food. Instead of not putting in the order this time, they messed up the order. We had two orders of Chow Fun, one of the employees apparently devoid of the proper brain cells to input the order put in Chow Mein. It wasn't until the end of the 10 minutes I had to wait there, I received an apology. Usually tip generously on takeout but this time around, I didn't tip them based on this debacle as well as the previous one. Frankly I found the staff has changed quite a bit over the past several months. This could be a result of that. On an unrelated note, Chinese places usually give a fortune cookie per entree/item placed (at least in my experience). Not this place. I asked my lady where she wanted to go most for her birthday. We ended up at Ginger Cafe for our first time and had no idea what to expect. Immediately we knew that the service was going to be top-notch. We were going in blindly and ordered the Steamed Dim Sum Platter of 4 different appetizers, 2 of each. I did not recognize anything, and the mention of squid ink caught me off guard so I was a bit wary but after we jumped in every single one was an absolute tasty treat. For entrées we chose the Saigon Street Chow Fun, and the Saigon Noodle 3 Delights. And what an outright delight they were! The portions were absolutely mind-blowing and I was getting full just looking at them. They are extremely generous with the meat portions and we could not get anywhere near finishing up. Definitely give the lemonade a try, it is absolute sweet perfection! We highly recommend Ginger Cafe for that special meal, or just to get a night away from your kitchen. The value is unbeatable and you will end up full and asking for a take-out box for a hefty midnight snack. You will truly be more than happy with this amazing restaurant in every aspect.
