Another update as of 8.24.16. - Another $2000 on the car. It just won't stop. Worse car deal ever! Well..here is an update as as 8.4.16. Just spent $975 on repairs that should have been fixed before we bought it. And the car is in the shop again, can't wait to see what this is going to cost me. The warranty they sold us does not cover much of what the problems are either. DO not buy a used car from here and certainly do not waste your money on their warranty. Take it from me. We bought the car in April with 80,000 miles. This is August and we are without a car to drive. Nice! I am re-writing this Yelp for Paul my boyfriend because we can't seem to find his anymore. If you see it twice its because we are trying to get our point across. We are angry and feel scammed. It's LONG but worth the read. It will save you money in the long run. This is actually my very first Yelp. In the past I haven't cared enough to write them but after what I've been thru with this sales woman named Tiffany at Gillman Acura, I just had to write this. So Sunday I call them to inquire about a car and I speak with none other than, Tiffany. I tell her about the car I'm interested in and I let her know Wednesday is the soonest I can come in. We hang up and all is done. Then on Tuesday she calls to pressure me to come in a day earlier talking about many people have called in asking about the car blah blah blah and she begins telling me they cannot hold used vehicles and I say that's ok. If it's meant to be it's meant to be. I then tell Tiffany I actually cannot make it in Wednesday due to all the flooding and the busy work week because of it and I inform her I will be their Saturday morning. She then said, ok. I hang up. So now it's Thursday, she's calling me AGAIN. Talking about how she values me as a customer and she just wants me to be happy and I quote Tiffany when I say this" if you come in Saturday and the car isn't here don't be all like DAMN Tiffany why didn't you hold it for me because that's not what we do" ( SO what you do is bombarded me with sales tactics, curse, and put words in my mouth and lie to me) the lying part is coming up, bare with me. so then I say, are you a salesman for Acura? She said and I quote" No, I'm the customer service manager, and I guarantee the guests customer satisfaction and that someone else would be selling me the car". I then call bs. Because that's what I asked for in the first place on Sunday, a used car salesman(Tiffany). So I hang up, and I call back fifteen minutes later to speak with another salesman at Gillman Subaru which is connected with Acura and I begin to ask this gentleman if Tiffany was in sales? He said" yes, she is a car salesman with Acura". I then tell him that she lied to me. Anyways, I cannot believe how blown away I am by her shady tactics and her lying to me. In the future, if someone calls you not once, but twice in one week to set up an appointment to come look at a car, it would probably be in your best interest to not harass them and lie to them. let them come in so you can make the sale. If she is willing to do that then what kind of car are they willing to sell me. She has compromised the sale in its entirety and I doubt I'll even go in their to see about the car that I was interested in. People like her is what makes purchasing a vehicle from a dealership scary.. That was about a month ago, it is now the 4th of June and I'm extremely displeased with Gilman, AGAIN! Not only did that happen prior and they promised me a great deal on a car which I did NOT GET. and a wash job on my current car to apologize for my prior experience. the wash was nasty and dirty and a horrible gesture to offer, especially if your wash jobs are garbage. I did in fact purchase a car from them, why, I don't know... the key remote died on me in less than a month of having the car but that's just the beginning of epic fails. the back window is leaking water heavily. It's like the Brazos river in my car. I wish in my contract it said i would be receiving mildew in my "great deal" they "promised". I SPECIFICALLY ASKED DOES THE TOP LEAK. Because it's a convertible. They said "No". I wouldn't have purchased it knowing water flows into my car and builds up faster than the water in Houston. Also, I opened the hood and one of my wheel wells is destroyed. Held on by what seems like rubber tape. Its coming apart is such a way I can hear it when I drive. Scary to think it could rip off anytime and cause me to get into an accident and hurt someone else's life or my own. What's even scarier is that Gilman would sell something so unsafe and insecure. I guess my life and others around me aren't as important as Gilman making their sale. Acura Gilman are liars and they sell garbage. We were going to trade in our 14 accord for an Audi but after my experiences with that dealership we are NEVER going anywhere near that dealership again. read more

Great, Top Notch Buying Experience I'm a busy professional and my wife just gave birth to our first baby. We needed a SUV to replace our Mercedes sedan since our baby's stroller took up the entire trunk space. Being busy with work and a new baby, I just didn't have the time to car shop and visit every dealership looking for the best deal. Instead, I spent the morning emailing every Acura dealership in Houston, Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio looking for a 2016 Acura MDX AWD Advance Package with Entertainment System. Just from the morning emails, Gillman Acura of Houston's Bill Schleisner differentiated himself from other sales representatives from the other Texas Acura dealerships. I received Bill's email response with his offer price before his dealership even opened and the email was quickly (within minutes) followed by a phone call. After talking with Bill over the phone very briefly (I was at work busy with morning meetings), I mentioned that I was shopping around for a particular car with very specific packages. After a few hours of answering several emails from the other dealerships, to my surprise, I received a call from Bill again asking how the search was going. I mentioned that my search was going well and his dealership was not the lowest offer, and I was pursuing an offer with a Dallas dealership. Around lunch time, after answering emails from other dealerships and answering a few phone calls (some dealerships took several hours to give me a call), I got another call from Bill. I really appreciated his tenacity. After the Dallas Acura dealership with the lowest offer failed to return three of my phone calls (the manager was supposedly out), I made the decision to go to Gillman Acura after work with my wife and baby because of Bill's phone calls. I got to the dealership at about 5:30pm and was treated very well from the onset. We met with Bill immediately and didn't have to wait. We even met with the sales manager, Ray. Bill was very kind and patient with us especially with our baby crying. He showed us the available MDX models and options/accessories and we discussed ordering the car if we didn't find one we liked. Again, Bill was very patient as we had to change our baby's diapers multiple times. My wife made a last minute decision to change the interior and exterior colors and Bill was very accommodating. He was able to retrieve a vehicle that matched my wife's preferences exactly. Amazingly, Bill was able to convince the service department to stay a little late to prepare the car. Ultimately, we stayed past the dealership's closing time (the meeting with financing took longer than expected) and Bill stayed after closing to personally hand us our new car and see us out. My wife and I are very pleased with our purchase and especially with our sales representative. I bought a pre-certified 2020 MDX with 26,000 miles last Saturday. The vehicle started shaking the moment I got off the lot. A dealership employee came to home 2 days later to test drive it and said that my tie-rod ends were loose. I returned the vehicle to the dealership today for a refund before their service department had a chance to confirm it was indeed my tie-rod ends, but it was clear there was an issue with the vehicle driving performance. There was also undisclosed cosmetic damage that was not brought to my attention as well. I purchased the vehicle in the evening and missed the dent and scrapes on the front bumper during my walk around. If this had been brought to my attention, I would have not paid full asking price. I was disappointed as I had asked specifically prior to purchase if there was any cosmetic damage to the vehicle. he dealerships solution for this headache was for me to return the vehicle for them to fix the problems or give $1,000 more on my trade-in. The amount of stress, time of work and risk of safety that I endured was worth far more than $1,000 off another vehicle and I told them I would take my business somewhere else. (I should not have to return a certified pre-owned vehicle within 48 hours for repair from a luxury dealership such as Acura! Loose tie-rods should have been caught during the pre-certified check!) There are additional things that dealership fell short on such as confusion on the warranty policy. I was told two different things from the sales rep and the finance manager when purchasing the vehicle, both had to go consult with a manager to confirm what their warranty was which at the time I felt was odd and now in hindsight I find even more concerning. Also, the business card for the dealership rep that visited my home to test my vehicle had their last name spelled incorrectly and the e-mail was incorrect as well. The whole experience lacked quality control and felt messy and disorganized. While the dealership may respond to this post stating that they offered to fix my vehicle or help me choose an alternative, this was bare minimum effort as they were required to under warranty to repair my vehicle or allow me to return my vehicle within 5 days. Bottom line. In my opinion, buyer beware of buying used vehicles from this dealership. If you are looking for an alternative Acura dealership, I received a recommendation to reach out to the GM at Sterling McCall Acura from a finance manger of at Lexus who said the dealership is awesome. read more

I bought a used 2019 Acura ILX for the internet price of $21,905. Whenever we agreed on that price with the salesman conman Quinton he begins to tell me how much money bullshit story they're losing in this deal! In the lobby he tells me with tax title and license and gives me a total price drive out. AT NO TIME DID HE EVER MENTION THE WORD ACCESSORY'S!!! I was paying cash so I'd thought the process would be much easier!They give you a stack of papers highlighted where exactly you need to sign so just remember at this time we'd agreed on the $21,905 price plus tax title and license. Yes I should've looked more carefully at each page I was signing I really wasn't expecting such unethical trade practices!!! Whenever we get to the loan officer they have everything to sign on the desktop computer and now thinking back the loan officer never went line by line and explaining every charge! Again they have everything marked where to sign and I did! Being excited for buying my handicapped son his first car for his 16 birthday!!! I should've reviewed and again he should've went line by line explaining all the details like all other dealerships do! So whenever we finished the loan officer handed me a thumb drive and I said what's this he said that's all your paperwork which I thought was odd never seeing done that way! So the next day I decided to put that thumb drive in my computer which I believe most people will never ever do and this exactly why they do it this way! This is whenever I saw on the sales contract they had my sales price of $21,905 and right below that they had a accessory fee$995. So I immediately called conman Quinton and he tells me yeah all of our cars come with the accessory package! Like I said before AT NO TIME EVER DURING OUR AGREEMENT OF THE SALES PRICE DID HE EVER MENTION THE EXTRA ACCESSORY FEE or i wouldn't be sitting here right now having to do this! All he and the other 2 mgrs could say well you signed everything! And I take responsibility for that it's just I never ever expected such deceitfulness! This created an uncomfortable atmosphere and made it challenging for me to make a well-informed decision. I felt rushed and pressured, which compromised my ability to thoroughly evaluate. Overall, my experience with Rachaele left me very disappointed and frustrated. A significant sell like a vehicle requires careful consideration, and I expected to be treated with respect and given ample time to make an informed decision. Unfortunately, the rushed approach and high-pressure tactics employed by the dealership were counterproductive and diminished my trust in their business practices. I would strongly advise potential sellers to be cautious when dealing with Gilliam Acura and to prioritize their own needs and preferences during the sales process. We bought or first Acura in 2006 from Gillman and started experiencing their service at that point. Our service representative has been Ron Mascardo from then to now. Ron has continuously provided us outstanding, over the top service. In fact, when my wife was driving to Baton Rouge several years ago, our MDX was struck by lighting near Winnie, Texas. My wife called Ron and he stayed on the phone with her guiding her though her attempt to make it to the nearest service center. When the vehicle stopped running he contacted the service center, arranged for a tow truck, and reserved a rental car so my wife could continue her journey. in doing so he not only provided a service for our investment but also assured the safety of my wife through the ordeal. As a result we decided that we wanted no one other than Gillman to perform the repairs on our vehicle. So we had it towed back to Houston. Ron managed the service to the vehicle included identifying every component that was damaged (which was quite extensive), working with our insurance company, and completing the repairs. After we got the SUV back it ran like new and continued to serve us well. Unfortunately, this was not the only ordeal we had between Baton Rouge and Houston with our MDX. This last December an object stuck our vehicle which caused damage to the engine. I guess Winnie is just not our lucky town. Well as you would guess we called Ron. We towed the MDX Gillman and Ron had a loaner car waiting for us. Again Ron worked extensively with the insurance company, and managed the repairs. Guess what, our MDX still runs like a top. As a result of Ron's continued support it is evident that Gillman Acura is dedicated to providing outstanding customer service not only during the warranty period but beyond. Therefore, it is not surprising that we bought a second vehicle from Gillman. read more

Don't waste your time with the sales manager Herb. Unfortunately, this is the only person I talked to at this dealership when shopping around for an MDX and can't speak for the rest. I called initially on Sat, Dec. 23rd, to inquire about a couple vehicles and presented my offers, which he then scoffs at. This was fine, our numbers were off...so be it. He called this morning after the Christmas holidays, 12/26, to see if I was still in the market for a vehicle since there was now a special "year end blowout". I was in fact and even willing to take time away during an upcoming trip to Dallas to stop by another dealership who was more willing to work to meet my numbers. However when I mentioned it to this person, he proceeds to patronize me of even thinking of making a trip up to Dallas and wasting 8 hrs of my time. Didn't even let me get my word in. OK??? My time is my time, what does it matter to him? Most definitely, I'm willing to drive out of my way to save a few grand; especially since I was going to be in the area anyhow. This dealership is on the opposite side of town for me but I'd much rather drive 5x that to not have to deal with this person. Sure he was right to assume that since I hadn't bought a car that Sat and by this morning that I hadn't gotten the price I wanted. Very astute. Fortunate for me, I have time on my hands and other dealerships and brands to choose from. I don't have to be impulsive with my purchase. Too bad for him, that he doesn't understand that I'd prefer to spend time with my friends and family close to the holidays and not waste anymore time with all the push and pulls of the car buying experience. To each his own I guess. This is my first negative post about an experience anywhere and hope others have a better experience at this place and with another salesperson. read more
