I parked on the side of building and walked to the showroom. I immediately saw Toyota Corolla Hatchback sitting there. I took out my phone and started to take pictures. It's very sporty looking and not convinced that I could drive a young people's car. I went inside and wow there were so many people working in the raised area. My first impression... were they trading stocks? Everyone walking around with a mission. About half dozen of employees walked by me, none of them even gave me an eye contact. Not to mention a simple hello or welcome. I walked outside after using the restroom. I proceeded to the used car lot. Where is everybody? No problem. I can find my way around. When we arrived there they said our salesperson is busy and we have to talk with someone else which was ok but the thing that really bothered me was their manager Edward. We left the company because we didn't like the price they offered for our own car trading. He called us on our way home and said come back I will fix it with the price you want. When we got back they said wait we will bring the car. After about 2 hours waiting Edward came up and said there is no car now we will call you when we get the car!!!!! Shocking experience. I would like to take my new Higlander to Mike Calvert for service. BUT, I had a bad experience with my last Highlander, I soured on the service department. I brought the car in for a problem with the radio, and I was quoted $995 or thereabouts for a new radio. I went over to River Oaks Car Radio on Richmond, and the owner pointed out that new fuse was all I needed. I was so pissed, I blew off complaining, and let it go, but never forgot about it. Calvert is right around the corner from me, and Sterling McCall is not an easy drive to have to make. If I had a way to talk to THE Manager of the service department, I would like to come back. I've had the worst experience dealing with Alfredo Ott, the sales consultant at this dealership and the management team. Firstly, Alfredo told me they only sell new cars at this dealership because he probably believed I was not going to buy from him right then and there! All they want at this place is your money, or get out! Unless you are a fan of the "bait and switch," I would recommend skipping Mike Calvert when shopping for a used vehicle. My husband and I found a Toyota Tacoma on their website that met our checklist and was advertised as "Toyota Gold Certified." The price listed online was $30,994, which was in our price range and we test drove it on Saturday evening. After driving back on Monday to close the deal, we were surprised to find an additional $3,994 "MTC Protection" charge added, which brought the price of the truck to almost $40,000 with tax, title, and license. When we said we did not want this "extra" stuff, we were told they could not take it off. We explained that we wanted to pay the price that was listed on their website (and showed them the listing on our phone to prove we were not just pulling numbers out of the air) the manager adamantly said that he could not remove the MTC Protection charge. We told him that if it was not optional, it should have been included in the price listed on the website to begin with. Apparently he didn't want the sale that badly, because he chose to let us walk out the door rather than honor the price that was listed on the Mike Calvert website. I ended up going to another person to find out what was going on with my car. They went and got Lillian. Not good. Lillian then told me what was needed was not available. So I'm here for a regular service but also have a few other issues / repairs needed. I notified the service department when I made my appointment. So fast forward to today. I arrive for my appointment and check in and confirm that I would like the squeaky breaks fixed and my cross bars repaired. I'm unsure of whether the service department is adverse to doing work or if the attendants are instructed to try and persuade customers from seeking any repairs because all I was told as - squeaky breaks - that's a know problem with our cars and will take an long long time to evaluate and the parts are like on months back order so maybe you don't want that. And also- I'll have to have the shop evaluate the cross bars and that's going to take a long long time and a lot of money so are you sure that's something you want to do? I mean are you serious???? I want a brand new car I just bought from you fixed appropriately and you're trying to convince me otherwise ? Is this even a business??? Shouldn't you be giving me options ??? I dropped off my car at 7:00 AM for a scheduled oil change, alignment, and car wash. I was told the car would be finished by 12 PM and that I would receive updates throughout the process. Instead, I heard absolutely nothing from Coral the entire day. I had to call Mike Calvert 3 different times just to get someone to track her down to get updated on my car and 2 of the three times she was not able to give me an update or explain why a service that normally takes under 2 hours, when we stay on site at 7am, was somehow taking over 8 hours. When I finally arrived to pick up my car at 3:25 PM, Coral had a very noticeable attitude. I asked if there was anything wrong with my car that caused the 8-hour wait, and she told me "no, nothing was wrong" and that she had supposedly called me at 2:30 PM to let me know it was ready. I never received a call from her. I was the one who reached out to the service line, and they had look for her again to get her on the phone at 3 PM to confirm my car was done before I headed to the dealership. After paying, she handed me my keys and vaguely pointed outside, saying, "Your car is out front." When I asked where exactly, she just pointed again and repeated "out there." I had no idea where my car was, so I asked her to walk me to it. She agreed, walked toward the area she pointed to, and... my car wasn't there. I asked why she said it was in that spot, and she responded with, "Yeah haha that's crazy right?" No... it was unprofessional. She then had to press the alarm button multiple times while we walked around the whole lot until we finally located my vehicle. Bottom line: I have never experienced service this poor. Please be cautious if Coral Ruiz is the one assigned to your vehicle. Was looking at a vehicle for our son getting ready to graduate and head off to college. We found a vehicle and made contact with a salesperson and told them we'd have all the financial work completed before our arrival as we live over 3 hours away. All was going great and the price online was confirmed by the salesperson. ($15,991.00) The following day after getting all of the loan paperwork completed, we were advised the price went from $15,991 to $19,495.00 The sale price went up to $19,495.00 with an additional $2,995.00 for an"MCT" charge. From the words of the salesman, MCT = "That would be the add ons we add to our vehicle that include CarRX that is an anti theft gps system, wheel locks, and ceramic coating. We price our vehicles below what they're should be going for to get more attention to them but we're still priced number one even with our accessories." We learned that was not optional and apparently every dealership in the Houston area does business that way. Nice reminder to stay away from Houston area dealerships. They don't do that in east Texas. Before you shop at Mike Calvert Toyota, regardless of what you see on line or what you want to buy, add $2995.00 to the price and that'll be what the price really is. So they tried to charge me $2200 for internal trim concerns. It was marked as a CRITICAL CONCERN. It was for my cracked windshield. I went to Safelite and got it fixed for $800. Also asked the technician who was an "assistant manager" why they were trying to charge so much for the price of the windshield change alone and was told that "[He] was not familiar with windshields" and could therefore not answer. Was considering flying here from California to pick up a good price tundra I found. A 2015 for $13,400 it was high mileage 233xxx or so. I thought that was a fair deal so I inquired. Then they said if I could put down $1,000 they would hold the truck for me. So I asked them before I put money down can you give me the out the door cost? And they marked the truck up to $17,500 I guess they installed a $4000 low jack and paint seal on it. I asked them if they could remove the items and we can make the deal. Shelwin said he would call me back after he talked to his manager. No call ever came back to me. I had to call them back hours later only for him to tell me they can't budge on the $4,000. It feels extremely scammy and unprofessional to advertise one price and then mark it up by $4,000. I can find a lot nicer truck if I wanted to spend 17,500 but I didn't want to spend that. I had my oil changed on June 6th 2025 at Mike Calvert Toyota and recently noticed a leak on my driveway appearing to be oil. I returned to Mike Calvert Toyota on August 14, 2025 and was charged $246.40 to run a diagnostic all to find that the leaking was caused by a loose oil drain plug which was pointed out on the complimentary multi point inspection. Had the service department done a more thorough job I would have saved myself this expense. I will be scheduling my vehicles services at another Toyota Dealership from now on. read more

Terrible experience with this store. I had them run credit and get approval on a vehicle. That was listed at $28,999.. The price just dropped from $31,999 on cargurus. For a little extra context I was approved for the same car an hour earlier at another dealership prior to reaching out to them. The car is just $1500 less sitting at $27,686 payment was $589 with $8k down or $646 with $5500 down at 72 months. Out the door with warranty, gap, even with their package it's $31k and some change Then when Mike Valvert Toyota gives me the numbers it's $699 at 78 months with $8k down. Out the door $35k and some change. Obviously they added something into the numbers. I asked for a buyers order. (ALWAYS ASK FOR A BUYERS ORDER.) They at first flat out refused unless I came into the dealership. I did not choose to go in, they finally sent it after speaking to a manager. Once I received the buyers order the price was $33,999 with a discount of $5k I guess to make me feel special haha even though on their website and cargurus the car is listed at $28,999 and it was previously listed at $31,999 on cargurus. But get this it had a package of an extra $3k on it. So they listed it higher on the buyers order put some fake a** discount on it to make me feel like I'm getting a deal just to add a $3k protection package. When at every other dealership it's $695 for the same package. Legally you don't have to buy these packages dealership throw in and say it's not an option. They make you feel like you have no choice but you do. It's a law and banks hate financing them. I was a sales consultant at a dealership it's their way to make money and add in extra fees to make up the money. They literally added a $3k fee because they dropped the car down from $31,999 on cargurus to $28,999 it's their way to get people in the door making you feel like you're getting a good deal, and then screwing you over. So the car is being sold realistically for the same price of $31,999 it's just a way to fool someone that doesn't have a clue what they're looking for. So if you're thinking of buying from them buying a 2025 Hyundai Santa Fe with 8k miles Vin- 5NMP24GL6SH133705 (Avoid it and their dealership. It's not about the people it's about their pockets. I'm leaving this to help other people out. Whether it's this dealership or another a lot of people don't pay attention to final numbers. They sign because they're happy with payments. Read this before you buy!! I bought a brand-new 2025 Toyota RAV4 from here, expecting a smooth and professional experience--but what I've received has been incredibly frustrating. Day after we bought it, I noticed multiple factory defects: panel misalignment, interior gaps, scratches, bubbles in tint, and other build quality issues. We raised these concerns immediately. Instead of taking them seriously, a service rep told my husband the issues would "get better over time." After multiple follow-ups, the dealership finally offered to repairs, but refused to offer any form of gesture to restore our confidence in the purchase, and to make up for causing such inconvenience and stress for us. To make matters worse, when I came in for the repair and rental process, the staff attempted to charge me for gas--despite a Toyota customer relations rep clearly telling me it would be covered. All in all, this has been an exhausting experience with poor communication, a dismissive attitude, and little regard for customer satisfaction. I have reached out to corporate and will seek further consumer protection. I regret trusting this dealership and would not recommend them based on how I've been treated. Spend your money elsewhere. I inquired about a 2021 pre-owned car with over 68,000 miles that they showed on the website for around $16k. I am not local so i asked for more pics and videos, and then I asked the best price since we were interested in buying the car. TO MY SHOCK the salesperson came back with a price over $23,000!!! I called into the dealership today and they use a 3rd party for scheduling appointments who apparently doesn't know what the service department can or can't do. So, I explain to the gentleman exactly what's going on with my car, if I turn it off it's not starting and I just had to jump my car. Never had this issue before. He tells me he can get me scheduled for 4:40 if I could get to the appointment. Yes. I show up at 4:39 and was told my the service manager that can't do anything for me. Battery is under warranty and they leave at 5. It will take an hour for them to charge the battery per claim procedures. Mind you he tested the battery and it said replace. The only thing he offered me was for me to purchase a new battery or pay for a rental. Why would I pay for a rental when the battery is under warranty through your dealership. No other solution was offered and it was clear they just wanted to go home. I call the dealership because I wanted to speak to the customer service relation representative and of course she isn't answering her phone nor returning calls per usual. But the front desk receptionist Jody. Instead of answering the phone after I left the VM she sends me back to her VM. In what world is that professional. I voiced that to her and she catches an attitude like I'm inconveniencing her from doing her job. Im really sick of the people at this dealership. Call me naive, but when you take your still very new, within warranty vehicle to the dealership in order to address a factory part issue, you do so with trust and in good faith that the techs, managers, and dealership will do what they can to ensure you are helped and the warranty is honored. Mike Calvert Toyota does the exact opposite. We took our 2024 RAV4 hybrid in because the speakers blew. As they were looking at the car, we were receiving mixed messages about us tampering with the factory parts after they found a tool box in our trunk, therefore voiding the warranty. At first it was the speaker, then the radio, then something else. Their story kept changing. Now, I don't know a lot about cars, but it was weird to me that they looked in the trunk for a front speaker issue. What was even weirder was that because they saw a toolbox, they concluded that we had tampered with the vehicle and added aftermarket equipment. As if a young minority couple wouldn't have any other use for a toolbox? Profiling much? It was as though they tried everything in the book to void the warranty and avoid the repair. They documented that we had tampered with the car and therefore voided the warranty. We went to the original dealership we purchased the car from, and after thorough inspection they concluded that the actions of Mike Calvert were strange in nature and that they could not find any evidence of tampering. But, because Mike Calvert had documented that we tampered with the sound system, their hands were tied as far as their work getting covered by Toyota. My husband and I are both still in school. When we make commitments to honoring our responsibility to pay for our vehicles we expect the dealership to do what they can to honor our warranty. But Mike Calvert seems to be allergic to honorable work. We are now out 2k for repairs that should have been covered by a warranty but were not due to the laziness, greed, and dishonesty of Mike Calvert Toyota. By the way, the well reviewed, experienced, expert we finally had fix our car confirmed that all the parts that we had in the car were original factory parts, were all untampered with, and all were, indeed, defective. read more

Unreal wait times to be even checked in for service. I arrived at 2:22pm per the paper they put on my dashboard. It's 3:10pm and I still have not been checked in. This is not a one time incident, but it's certainly been the longest they've made me wait. Hard-Earned Money Wasted - A/C Failed Right After Purchase I came down from Austin on May 20th to purchase a 2014 Toyota Tacoma with Dom's help. I'm a full-time college student, and I worked long hours and saved for months to afford this truck. This was a big deal for me, and I was excited to finally buy a vehicle I had worked so hard for. During the test drive, we noticed the A/C light was flashing. My mom brought up the concern, and Dom reassured us by having the service shop take a look. We were told there was nothing wrong and that it had just been topped off with Freon. Unfortunately, shortly after I got home, the A/C light started flashing again. Now, only a few weeks later, the A/C has completely stopped working and it seems the compressor is shot. After all the hours I worked to save up for this truck, it's incredibly disappointing to run into such a big issue right away--especially one we specifically asked about before buying. It really feels like no one cared enough to take the issue seriously. I reached out calling everyone in the customer service department if there's anything they can do to make it right or if I could get a copy of the service inspection report that was supposedly done, but I've yet to get any real help or answers. I'm giving this one star because I feel like I was brushed off and misled. I expected better, especially when spending thousands of dollars that took me so much time and effort to earn. I really believe I got scammed by the dealer -- I didn't know much about cars and was way too naive. For example, I sold my 2016 Toyota Corolla for only $2,000. When I told my friends, none of them could believe it. It was clearly a bad deal. I also bought a 2020 Honda CR-V that was listed for around $23,000 online, but I ended up paying $30,000 total. Looking back, I feel so stupid for not asking more questions or pushing back -- but I was overwhelmed and didn't know how to stand my ground. The dealer I worked with was Victor Balogun, and I felt a lot of pressure and confusion during the entire process. At one point, he even stopped me from calling my sister -- that's when I knew something wasn't right, but I didn't have the confidence to speak up. This was a very expensive lesson. So please -- if you're new to buying cars, do not go alone. Bring someone who understands the process and will help you stay grounded. Don't let anyone take advantage of your kindness or uncertainty like they did to me. read more

It took them nearly 2 months to repair my husband's vehicle. We kept getting the run around on parts being ordered, when the car would be ready and the list goes on. They would text responses rather than call, and not in a timely manner. They are not good at providing details. They were never apologetic. When it was time to pick up the vehicle they had the engine cover in the backseat. It wasn't until a couple of days after the vehicle was handed over to my husband that they didn't return the key to get his tires off. Hey called and asked them about it. Once again a screw up on their part, and they didn't apologize for that either. Still wasting husband's time and money having to return to that place. read more

The changes that the owner has made over the last year has not been beneficial to customers and the quality of service. First, they stopped offering frequent service discounts for oil changes. So I had stopped coming here for my maintenance until they said they price matched other Toyota dealers. (The location off 59 south gives deals all the time). So I came in and they honored it. At the same time I wanted them to look into an oil leak I had previously. I had it repaired at another mechanic, but since my oil was empty when they checked, I asked them to do a complete check of the oil system to make sure it wasn't leaking. I paid a $200 diagnostic fee for them to tell me to come and get oil changes every 3K miles instead of 5K because the car is using the oil faster. On top of that they caught me off guard with their credit card policy. The agents did not tell me before I dropped my car off that if you use your credit card they started charging a 3% fee. I did not have my debit card with me that day. So I paid an additional $50 for nothing. I do not think it is right to penalize people using their credit cards. The only reason I would still continue to use their services was the convenience of their shuttle/ complimentary drop off service. I was able to get my oil change and be dropped off at work, and pick it up at end of day. Now they have done away with that service too. There is absolutely no incentive to keep coming to this location for any services. read more
