Reviewing the service department, it has been a decent experience. I have been getting my oil changes here for years because they also do a full inspection and report of the car. For someone who doesn't have too much knowledge on cars, their recommendations are useful. I have noticed the price creeping up - now $86 per oil change which is pretty steep. I have also had some repairs done here. My car was flooded once after a nasty storm and they replaced some electronics on the inside. Had to bring it back once after that repair because my dash was showing airbag disabled warning randomly and they took a second look. They didn't find anything wrong (they quoted maybe loose connection) and still charged me ~$80 to fix nothing even though it was something that was overlooked by their repair. Service reps are nice and will explain any details you don't understand. Overall, comprehensive but emphasis on costly - you pay for that extra service, I guess. read more

Stephen and the crew were extremely professional and the communication about the work, initial inspection, and a recall that they found and addressed during the oil change was excellent. The video sent from the technician explaining in detail all the parts that they inspected, the status of each tire, each brake pad, etc was a really nice touch. Russell and Smith have a massive sign 30 feet in the air announcing MAZDA! right before the entrance drive. As you round the corner you see the building directly in front announcing SERVICE with illuminated letters three feet high. Except, that's not it. It's the Ford Service area. You drive around no-mans-land, exit to the feeder and try again only to finish up in exactly the same Ford lane. So repeat the exercise but this time drive past Ford to find a small dingy area named Tire Service which is where an employee with tell you there's a small ground level sign pointing the way to Mazda, so it's all your fault. read more

Dealership is not customer friendly, the dealership doesn't do a thorough inspection of vehicles before selling them, especially when they are near a major service mileage point. The general manager never canceled my warranty and refuses to put me in touch with the owners. It's been a month and my warranty was never canceled nor have I heard from the owners. We went in this place to buy a car at the advertised price but was told by the used car manager Collin that the only way he'd sell it would be if we would agree to $4000 of extra upgrades for things they hadn't done to the car (think: paint protection, wheel locks, lo jack, etc...). Came in for an oil change and they found a lot of other issues with my car. Oil change was fairly reasonable 60 for full synthetic for a Mazda 3. I can't speak for the sales department, but I've been coming here for service for years and have never been dissatisfied. I particularly appreciate the full inspections they perform (easy to opt into or ignore any possible fixes they identify) and their video highlights of informed points of concern are always empowering. The crew overall is solid but Stephen especially goes above and beyond with his service to ensure you're informed, kept in the loop, and satisfied. Make sure you tell him your concerns and he'll do his best to ensure you're taken care of (from timing to drop offs to even available loaner cars). I took my car in for tire repair without an appointment after an emergency and was assisted by Alfredo. After being informed the tire could not be repaired but had to be replaced, Alfredo worked with me to order the new tire and ensure it would be covered under warranty. Unfortunately the tire needed for my replacement was not in stock and had to be ordered. Since it was so close to shop closing and I took the car in on a Friday, I had to leave my car at the service shop. Alfredo provided me with a loaner car while my car was in the shop and kept me up to date with the progress of the service. Then he said let me get your car key to check out your vehicle. Then he allegedly took the information to his manager along with the key. My wife drove an hour and a half to their dealership for a specific car where every detail was given to us with a price, and in 5 short minutes they said they could not honor the price and that there was a "miscommunication" in the text messages sent and received by "Patrick" a so called sales person, who is really just some idiot doing the dirty work for their sales minions. I was out of town, so my wife attempted to handle this and they took complete advantage of her and her time. I called the pre-owned car manager on the phone and very quickly realized how dishonest he was with absolutely no integrity whatsoever. Disappointing car part pick up experience. I ordered a small replacement car part online through their website and unfortunately did not have a good experience. First of all, I never received an order confirmation email or notification that the order was ready (even checked my junk mail box). About a week later, once I arrived to the dealership address listed on their ordering website, one of the sales associates told me that I needed to go about 3-4 miles down the road to their collision and part center to retrieve my order. He provided me with a printed map and address and sent me on my way. Upon arriving to this location, which is located in the middle of a 610 construction zone, the gentleman at the desk tells me that that location is for Ford parts only and Mazda part pick up is located at the dealership that I just came from. Wonderful. Back at the dealership once again, the same sales associate, now assisted with another more senior staff member, pointed me to the front of the building. At this time, still within the first few hours of them opening on a Saturday, the place was nearly empty of customers. The sales associate in this area got up, greeted me, told me to proceed forward through the main lobby and turn right for part pick up, and sat back down at his desk. Unfortunately the part pick up desk is not clearly marked and I ended up at the service desk. Overall, they need to work on their customer service. Staff need to know where service areas are located and it would be nice if they could take an extra minute of their time, such as providing an escort, to ensure that customers end up in the right place. read more

Went in looking for a specific trim level of the Cx5. Our initial sales man was amazing! I believe his name is Mr. Gilton. He let us know what's available and didn't try to push us into something just because it cost more. We expressed that we didn't want to purchase the first time we came in and he didn't get pushy. (He did say these cars go fast) We came back the following weekend to put a deposit down. He was busy assisting other guests and directed us to his fellow colleague. Mr. Johnson I believe. He saw the car we wanted was not available until July. Found a similar car with better trim level and offered us a deal that we couldn't pass up! AVOID THIS DEALERSHIP!! We had a horrible experience with the sales team. They wasted my day. Chris was verbally rude and abusive and shouted at me and my family in front of the whole showroom. He just did not care. Absolutely no manners I have purchased many many cars, but this was the worst customer service experience ever. Chris has no manners and no customer service skills. Maybe he needs some training. Earlier that day, we had agreed on a price, we came back just few hours later to purchase after getting our payment and documents and they increased the price by a few thousand $.. Wasted our time. They have an unfair, unethical business practice. Also they have mark ups on all their cars. So this is one of those mark up stealerships. AVOID! That same day we went to another Mazda dealership and got the same model, spec at a much lower price. Absolute joke of a dealership, they claim to have i-car gold class status, yet their service department and body/collision department likes to half ass their job. They kept my car for 3 months, once I got it back there were still several things missing that weren't fixed. And my check engine light came on because they didn't replace the coolant. There are parts popping off they didn't properly secure, and old tires they slapped on only for me to have to replace them a few days later out of my pocket. I had to get the GM involved who was very helpful, however, it looks like he clearly manages incompetent people who don't thoroughly do the work. Ok I'm going to start with the selling environment there- Yesterday I went almost certain of the car I was going to leave with. I met with the sales person Gilton who was very knowledgeable at first. Once it was time to talk the financial side of things is where they really lost me. I knew exactly what my loan structure needed to be and what my preapproved rate was. Gilton first lied to me about how he had to have what my preapproved rate was and when I pushed back on that he started getting a little short tempered. I would be in the middle of a sentence and he would cut me off but I was saying things that he needed to know so I literally thought he was hard of hearing (he's not). He also kept pushing the 72 month loan. I don't even know why he pulled it when I told him specifically that I wanted the 60 but that's all he got from finance. Didn't even ask about my 60 as requested. After I told him no he came back with the same information a second time, even though I asked him for other models that were maybe more affordable. When he came back a 3rd time with the 72 month loan I told him I would absolutely not get that loan and he went to pull a different car for me. He was just in general pushy and didn't even bother to hide that he was annoyed that he couldn't bully me into agreeing to his terms. Now for the social and ultimately the final straw. When we were out for a test drive he saw a homeless man get someone's change and commented that they were just lazy and would never work if people gave them handouts. Maybe true but it was weird that he gave that opinion in the middle of a sale. When he left to pull the final car I already had weird vibes about him so I googled him and found his twitter where he had retweeted tweets supporting the storming of the capital in Jan. If you support that behavior then Gilton is the sales guy for you but I don't and didn't want to work with someone who did so I left. I know we are in a car shortage and I'm sure they will still do great but I wish I would have known who I was working with from the start so I hope this helps. read more

I went to this dealership prepared to buy a car, and walked out feeling like the salesperson did not value me as a customer nor was he interested in my money. I always have good experience with Russell & Smith Mazda since I bought my Mazda 6 here in 2014 and Mazda CX-9 in 2017. This time I especially want to thank the service director Brian Trevino and my advisor Alfredo Vega who really care about my concerns and made the effort to solve the issues. I had my regular maintenance last Monday and after the service I heard a noise coming from the front when the car reaches about 60 miles per hour. So I called Alfredo and he offered a free check-up right away. I brought in my car the day after and discussed the noise I heard with Brian (Alfredo was out). Brian got the technician and listened to the tape (I recorded the noise) carefully. An hour later Brian told me that my car was fine. He thoroughly explained to me that the noise I heard was due to the tire rotation in which rear tires were moved to the front to ensure that the tires wear evenly. The technician switched back the tires and tested on the road to make sure the noise is gone. Brian was extremely polite and professional. I am thankful to have such a great team provided outstanding service to my car! read more

I recently purchased a car from this dealership for my daughter, who is a university student. I found the car online and met with one of the sales associates, Gilton Huggett. He is knowledgeable and very low key. Not a moment did I feel pressured during the process. He made my daughter (a new driver) feel very comfortable during the test drive in the middle of a massive rain storm. This is an overdue review. I purchased the car in September but just now have time to write it. This review is mainly for my salesperson as she's the person that I interacted with the most. My sweet 2000 Honda Accord that I planned to drive until it died was flooded by Harvey. As such, I was in the market for a new car. Truthfully, I would have bought a used car as it makes more sense for me, but didn't really trust the cars around here since the flood. Therefore I decided to go through the excruciating process of buying a new car from the dealership. This was my first time buying a car so I did all the research I could from Edmunds.com and multiple other sources and was ready for the attack. I'll keep this review short, the salesperson that helped me, Salina N., made the transaction easy and as pain free as she could. I would recommend not going late in the evening like I did since there was only one finance manager working so it took awhile to actually leave with the car. Start-to-finish, it took about 4 hours but I love my new car. The price I paid was comparable to what others in the area had reported. They offer 2 free oil changes a year for the first 3 or 5 years. I'll have to look at my paperwork. The lobby is ok and is only stocked with water, not as nice as a luxury car dealership, but that's not the crowd they're catering to. read more

This is a quick review on my experience of a recent CX-5 purchase on 28th Sept 2020 at Russell Smith Honda near the Reliant Centre. Mr. Gilton Huggett was the sale associate that I worked with. He was very pleasant, knowledgeable and patient. With the COVID pandemic, he was able to give me an excellent price for a new 2020 model and all negotiation was done before my arrival. The check out process was quick and the dealership is clean and relaxing. Only limitation was there were a lot of forms to sign as required by the dealership (not Gilton's fault) and some were unnecessary. Overall, highly recommended and research up front and purchase is the way to good. Gilton also gave me new floor mats [maybe I should not mention this :) ] Very happy customer. read more
