I searched locally to find the best price for an island and Ivan beat it. I got a little worried when I couldn't get ahold of him after making my deposit but it turned out this was because he was very sick. Sophia in the office did a great job to communicate with me and they were able to make changes to the island and completely change my design just a week before delivery! The only negative was delivery date. Because Ivan was sick, they were swamped and couldn't make my Saturday delivery date but Ivan made it worth my while, very professional. He also added a few extras for me which was really impressive. His delivery guys broke down on the way, but still made it to my house as promised. Only took about an hour to install. Just wanted to say that the wife and I just bought our new BBQ Island with a Palapa and are very happy with it. Ivan took care of us from day one. He showed us what he had available and we picked the one we liked. We put a deposit on it and asked him if he can hold it for us. Our pool had not been completed yet and the cement needed to be poured still in our back yard. He gladly said that he can hold it for us with no problem till we are ready. After a few weeks, our pool was done and the cement was poured. Now we were ready for our BBQ Island to be delivered. I called Ivan to let him know that we are now ready for him to deliver it. He set it up and the following sat., his team came over and delivered the BBQ Island and built the palapa right on sight. His team then went over how to use the BBQ and the Fire pit. They tested everything to make sure it all worked and cleaned up any mess that they made. I would recommend Gilligans Island BBQ to anyone looking to get a great deal and great service. My experience with Gilligans BBQ was not good. Our island came too large to fit in my backyard and so they had to damage my home, the island and landscaping to get it fit. I was promised prompt repairs and he never came back once he was paid. He didn't build to code and would not connect the gas supply. I have an extension cord under my island to connect power and this MUST be shielded continuous wiring to meet code. He also didn't provide the gas on/off key and just mailed to me a week later but in his brilliance he put in a normal envelope. The envelope arrived but the key didn't. I paid 2k plus for this island and I expected more. At least out of Human decency and him to do the right thing. I have given him a chance to fix the mistakes but no word. Buyer beware!!!! Their company cashed our down payment of about $2000 in April but did not receive our bbq until August. Called for a status update many times throughout the course of the wait, and we were assured many times our project was "next." While their finished product was nicely done it was not worth the hassle of the wait. Their 10 week estimate ended up being closer to 16 weeks. And after your finished product is completed you have to factor that you will have to find other contractors to run water, gas, and electricity. Frustrating. read more

The island is great, good quality, custom made for a round corner in the backyard. The installers did a good job, a couple of hiccups but every job has issues here and there and as long as it gets corrected then it's not a problem. Ivan the owner was a bit hard to get a hold of once we started having issues after the island was installed, but a lady , sorry I forgot her name, took over at the office and got our problems solved. I still rate them a 5 star because I got what I wanted for the space we had available. Good quality, overall delivered on the product as promised at the time promised. I wanted to write this review years ago .I had the island made 3 years ago. Yes Ivan is a great friendly sales person ,he promises u that he will cover and guarrentee many things but as soon he get your money he switch completely even though I accepted what he asked price wise. from day one The 15feet umbrella structure was dangerously shaking, he send a guy and confirmed that it need to add more supporting poles but never done it , I ended up hiring someone to do that. He promised to hook all the gas lines but never did, again I had to do it on my expense . The Thatch was poorly strapped to the frame and because of that it started sagging down couple months after!! we rarely use the island yet the tiles are coming out every now and then. Don't buy the LION's product they offer, they are bad quality. The island look good from outside but structurally are not. read more

I'm happy with the BBQ island but after they delivered the island it was impossible to get them to fix the light that went out. Almost 3 months of calling and emailing them, we finally got someone to come out. All he did was to leave a note saying he didn't fix it but left an extra light and to call the office. I had family coming out to see our new home and was promised that the light would be fixed. Come to find out, what they did was to splice several lights together, put electrical tape on it, and plug it in. The tape came loose and therefore the lights went out. I had to pay an electrician to fix the shotty job that was done with the electrical. I just wish they would stand behind their product and not just ignore you. Customer service after delivering a product is extremely important, there wasn't none here. read more

We had arranged our busy schedules to be home when he gets there. Our appointment was between 4pm-6pm. Well by 6pm he was a no show. I traveled far to go and purchase an island for my back yard. Ivan was nice and the price seemed right . Wrong . Ivan had no communication what's so ever. He told my husband a certain day and never cared to call us until we called to ask him what happened to my island . He said a day and never came. My husband works all the time so he was really upset. To Make things worse they have an accident and break my island ..... Then scratch my cement . He also got sloppy and didn't think I would notice his work. I'm not happy about giving him the money . I want to throw the island back at him honestly but it's already here. Will NOT be recommending this place to anyone. Go somewhere professional. We picked our shape, colors, tile and the end result is beautiful! I needed it sooner than their normal time frame and asked for it to be done sooner as we were having a party. They promised to get it done as soon as possible and they made our date on time! They're communication was great and the quality of work is exceptional. I would highly recommend this company. If you do purchase from this company make sure they test their product or you might have people severely burnt from it exploding. I ordered a custom fire table from Ivan at Gilligan's and when they showed up with it, it was even better than the pictures that Ivan sent me. I was unable to get it through my gate, even though we 8 guys, as it was built very well and heavy! I called Ivan, and he said no problem, and said they would bring it back to CA, and we would figure something else out. He said he would refund my deposit, and no hard feelings. You NEVER see customer service like that anymore, never less from a company 400 miles away in another state!
