Wish there were more stars! This place is terrific. It's inside the Trop, but also has an entrance off of the street. There's a counter, booths, and tables. We sat at the counter. It was super busy. Host was great at getting everyone seated. Very well oiled machine. Didn't wait long even with the crowd. Okay - let's chat about service. Not sure who trained this staff but they need to create their own course in customer service. Every single person who worked there, regardless of their actual position was helping all customers. Seriously... never waited for anything and constantly asked if we needed anything. Such a treat! You can tell that they pour their hearts into this! Just a lovely experience. Now, the food! Welp, this is it. The pancakes are wonderful and thin. You can get them stuffed with various things. Just the perfect crunch and taste. No battery thick middle! Get these! Also got eggs, fried bologna (highly recommend), scrapple, and delicious Turkey sausage. There wasn't one thing that wasn't good. No notes. The coffee is superior as well. Even asked for a cup to go. Just delicious. This place is a whole package. Go out of your way to get here!! You will NOT be disappointed!!! The prices are absolutely reasonable for the quality and quantity. Would go again and again and again!!!
This breakfast and lunch place in Chelsea section of the Tropicana is a little hidden jem. You can access it from outside or through the Tropicana. The prices are reasonable, the service friendly and the food comes out really fresh and fast. Good coffee and they even give you to go cups full if you want it. I got the short stack of French toast, my friend picked up scrambled eggs w/ bacon and a pancake with whipped butter. My hubby got a Taylor ham, egg and cheese omelet w/ rye toast, then made it a sandwich. My other friend ordered a western omelet w/ hash browns and rye toast. All that for $60. Good eats and prices.

She took names, called parties, cleaned tables, etc. The entire staff was friendly and efficient despite being really busy. It is very small inside but felt comfortable. The food was super yummy! It came out hot and fast. The home fries were pretty plain but were cooked perfectly and I really enjoyed them. The omelette tasty pretty healthy but had a healthy amount of cheese. The sausage was good. The hot cakes were also very good- we tried the blueberry and cinnamon apple special. I would love to try it again!!!!
The delicate thin pancakes with crisp lacey edges are something that must be experienced. They also did an excellent job of getting the scrapple very crispy on the outside and still moist in the middle
I have to give a big shoutout to this place. The service here was amazing. I do apologize to the staff for the time of my arrival. I had no idea that I had arrived so close to close, I didn't do my research before coming here. I walked in and took a seat outside. Menu in hand, drink order place, and I already spotted what I was going to have. I went with the Hungry Man Combo #2. This is basically a full breakfast, two eggs (cooked to your liking), two hot cakes (pancakes for the common folk), choice of meat (bologna for me), and your choice between home fries or grits (home fries for me). With order placed, I took in the place. Being able to eat outdoors, but still in a covered area was peaceful. To be able to hear the water and birds, kind of amazing and pure. Then my food arrived. Lord, this is a lot of food. Everything was cooked to perfection. The eggs were nice and fluffy, the bologna had the pinwheel look so that it would evenly cook on the gridle. Home fries were nice. The hot cakes though, they stole the show. Almost bigger than the plate, nice and fluffy, comes with a nice dollop of butter and you have the option to put as much syrup on as you want. I scarfed this down as quickly as I could, keeping in my the time I showed up. The staff here are amazing, not only did they serve me quickly and not make me feel small because of how out of it I was with the timing, but they were amazing with all the other customers. I was nearing the end of my meal and another customer had realized they left their form of payment in their vehicle. He informed them of this and wanted to leave something as collateral until he came back with the payment. They knew he would be back and didn't want any of that. Thank you again for accommodating me, and one of the tastiest meals while in the area.
We loved this restaurant. The people were so friendly and after 3 days going there we knew the crew. Our servers were Derrick and Amanda . They were very efficient. The breakfast was delicious. The food was pretty great, especially their special of the day: crab, spinach & Cheese omelette! The pancakes were fire too! The prices were more than reasonable.

Every once in a while you stumble on a spot that is the true definition of a hidden gem and Gilchrist Restaurant is one of them. Tucked away on a marina dock in the shadow of Atlantic City's casinos this breakfast place is not fancy by any means but the food is spot on. Everything tasted delicious, especially their Blueberry Hot Cakes which they are famous for and we could see why. Big, flavorful and loaded with blueberries. Everything else was excellent as well, including the eggs, bacon, home fries and grits. Coffee was delicious too. Can't wait to come back here when the weather is nice so we could sit outside and enjoy the water views.
Good food every time. Always a wait but it moves fast and they accommodate whatever size party without reservations. Super cozy and on the water - perfect for a breakfast or lunch with family and right on the water. Also happens to be next to the aquarium
What a great find. We came down for the teachers convention and stayed at the Tropicana. Our room ended up at the Chelsea Tower and this place is conveniently downstairs from it. I ordered the special waffle which was loaded with berries. Sooo good. Everyone else's order was great as well. Definitely will be back when we come to The Trop. It's way better than the place we usually eat at in The Quarter.

Gilchrist continues to be our favorite spot for breakfast when in AC, - especially the Rhode Island Ave. location with the water views. There is a simplicity and authentic neighborhood feel that you don't get anywhere else in AC. Food is consist and good. Service is always friendly. Our favorites: Blueberry pancakes Spinach/ feta omelette Come here when in AC. read more
What's not to LOVE about Gilchrist? The food is delicious and the staff is out of this world. Not only are they friendly, they're so upbeat with the amount of customers coming into the restaurant. With all this foot traffic, I personally don't know if I could be so cheery. I've never been disappointed with anything I've ordered here and the pancakes are OUT OF THIS WORLD!! I don't know what they put in them but they're the best I've ever had and I've been told I'm a pancake snob ... lol. Wishing Gilchrist continued success!! read more

This spot is a definite find! I was searching for diners but found this little treasure. They have a parking lot and bay side indoor and outdoor seating.The view is fantastic and we lucked out getting one of the best tables. Food portions were large. There is a nice condiment basket on the table with the basics plus hot sauce and honey which i appreciated. I feel like there was an entire brick of scrapple in my omelette. Food came quick. Servers are attentive! You do need to pay inside. We did not know this and sat for a while waiting for to go boxes and to pay our bill, look forward to coming back soon. read more

Must order spinach crab omelette. So light and full of crab protein It's not on the standard menu but ask the waiter about it. The banana walnut french toast is a good but I will try their famous blueberry hot cake for the next visit. Seat by the water if you come early. During the weekend usually that is a long line, but if you can come before 9am, you usually can be seated right away. It's a chill way to start a day. read more

This is such a nice location on the water. You can easily forget you're in Atlantic City. The service was excellent from the beginning to the end. I enjoyed my strawberry hotcakes and turkey sausages I would have preferred my grits creamier and my eggs scrambled soft. My friends loved their crab omelettes. We were celebrating a birthday and brought the cake there. It was stored in the refrigerator until we were ready. I highly recommend you come for a meal here. You will not be disappointed. read more

They are located in the Atlantic City Aquarium on N Rhode Island Ave. I've been to this place several times this year and always had a pleasant experience. The service is good, the food is delicious, and the outdoor seating area on the dock is beautiful. Gilchrist has indoor and outdoor seating. There is no delivery, but they do offer takeout. Gilchrist is a local staple just a few minutes away from the casinos. It's a waterfront restaurant with a heated patio during cooler months. It seems small on the outside but the restaurant is bigger than it appears. The staff is friendly from start to finish. The food is great if you are on a no-sodium diet, flavor deficient. We had pancakes, breakfast potatoes, beef sausage, and we tried a couple daily specials (apple cinnamon pancakes and the crab cake omelet). The pancakes are awesome, but I would stick to their original options. The apple cinnamon didn't have any flavor outside the cinnamon and the apples in the pancakes had no flavor. For the potatoes, they're just pan-fried without anything (not even onion or garlic powder). You can ask for peppers and onions sautéed with the potatoes but be sure the waitress writes it down. The crab cake omelet was made perfectly. The omelet had a good amount of crab, so it was worth the try. The only downside was the seasoning/spice included. When my friend asked if they could season her omelet when we ordered, the waitress pointed to the shakers on the table lol. The beef sausage was my favorite part. It is a little spicy, so if you have a sensitivity tread lightly. It's really good. I enjoyed visiting Gilchrist, but it's nothing to write home about. read more

I give this place a four based on the patio seating view. So beautiful on the water. It's picturesque and very peaceful. The food is good and servings are perfect! I've been here a few times, this time getting the crab and spinach omelette. It's made with real fresh crab. It wasn't fishy or salty. The rye toast was really good. Maybe a local bakery? The creamed chip beef was good but not the best I've had. Lacked a little flavor but thankfully not too salty. The service was great with many servers helping one another. Our coffee mugs were never empty. Good coffee, by the way. I want to come back and try lunch. The menu looked good with a lot to offer. It would be another good excuse to chill out on the patio. read more

ATLANTIC CITY: Gilchrist Restaurant has been serving up delicious breakfast and lunch since 1946! The food is excellent with all the morning and afternoon favorite foods you are looking for. You have to try the hotcakes - they are famous and delicious! The outdoor seating allows leashed and friendly dogs and is covered on top and the sides to make it an indoor/outdoor experience with views of Gardner's Basin. This place is popular and fills up fast, so make sure your pup doesn't get under foot hunting for scraps. The food comes out fast and turnover can be quick. Food is a double YUM!! Service is excellent. We had to wait for a table which just shows you how good this place is. Right on the water, literally. The tables outside are above the water. Just look down. The crab spinach and cheddar omelet were to die for. Mmmm-mm. My partner was very satisfied with the hungry man. Very happy to be there. The food comes out quickly!! Where is it in hard rock? Are the portions huge is it parking
The restaurant is on the boardwalk side of the building to the left of the casino when you enter the building. The portions are standard and I'm not sure of parking. There is a garage but we walked from our hotel.

I would call I'm not sure if they will allow you to put your name on the list while not being physically there. I always went there and put my name on the list and waited for…
