Wow, this place is absolutely incredible. What a gem! I had one of their tortas, and it was absolutely the best that I have ever had. In fact, I'm already making plans to come back and try some more. read more

After a riveting visit to the doctor, we stopped here for lunch. It's a bit chilly inside, but the service was fast. The burrito was huge and had chicken, rice, lettuce, and cheese. The chicken was a bit dry and could have used some more of the dressing. You can order whatever meat you want on the burrito. They do not serve liquor, and most drinks were in cans or bottles. There were toppings on the counter, but no way of knowing what they were unless you were an expert in Mexican toppings. read more

Gil Tacos - Chicken burrito - Mexican Near Me - Indianapolis, Indiana

I stopped by this spot this past weekend and I was very pleased. This is a small restaurant but the set up is in a way to keep everyone social distanced. You come in the main door and order them move to a dining area to wait for your food. It was a really good set up because there was plenty of space in the dining area. They do allow eating in but most orders were to go while I was there. The food was some of the most flavorful meat I've had. I had carne asada tacos and they didn't have a bunch of fixings but they were so flavorful that it wasn't needed. I can't wait to try some of the other dishes on the menu. All of the prices seem really reasonable for the wide menu they have. read more

Did my order through the here and they confirmed it. However, when I got there they did not have it ready and had to make it on the spot. However, they were super nice and did get my food out shortly after. During this time they provide a waiting area that allows social distancing with marked areas per person. The food was good. The carne asada tacos were more of a mushier texture than I'm normally used to for my tacos. But the flavor was good. Also got the guacamole but it was lacking flavor. Had to add seasoning and lime once I got home. read more

Great authentic Mexican food!! I will definitely be a regular customer!!! Visited this place for lunch today upon the recommendation of a coworker. I ordered chorizo tacos with rice and beans. Excellent food, excellent service and affordably priced. read more

The BEST tacos in Indy! My husband introduced me to this joint and I'm obsessed. Authentic tacos on corn tortillas, paired with some homemade guacamole is fantastic. Pork or chicken are my faves, sprinkled with some cilantro and fresh onions. If you find yourself on the southwest side of Indy, call ahead your order and drop by for some amazing flavor! read more

This place is unassuming and excellent. The Al Pastor has been the best I've found in Indy so far. Nothing we had was disappointing. Great quality at a solid value. If you're in this area I suggest stopping in. read more

You know I love my authentic Mexican food over Tex-Mex but I would eat either anytime any place if it is good....Gil Tacos fits that bill as I was on an after Colts home game Monday morning head and stomach soother(that's how I roll, still needin feedin) 4.5 food 4 wait, the parking, and kinda a cluster bomb when you get in there but hey who cares if the food is good Gil Tacos is an order at the counter, know what you want type of place. The line was long with hungry lunch timers. Parking is tight and limited but don't be detoured, the food is worth it. I was in the mood for nachos deluxe and I thought of Tamale Place but decided I needed something more and new....1 Al pastor taco and what they call a taco salad(which was nachos deluxe). The wait was considerable but there is a seating area and a Togo waiting area by the counter...I sat down and relaxed to view FF stats from the previous day. Prolly 20 minutes but it was worth it...there are pickled onions and habaneros by the pick up counter when they call your number and a few other good Mexican side goodies plus red and green bottles of sauce....both are tasty so try them both.....Al pastor passed the grade, not the best but better than most. The nacho, which I had with carne asada was spot on for me, not messy and sloppy with everything clumped together so when you grab a chip the shit slides off it....these chips were "arranged" almost thoughtfully, hell maybe it was on accident I don't know but it worked.....the toppings including rice spread across, so when you grabbed a chip, the toppings stuck better than most....nice crisp chips didn't sog out..... Give Gil's a try if you are over that way....I know I will again....maybe a burrito, maybe a tamale, on a hanging Monday maybe both .....JC Stay local, eat local! read more

My experience was terrible and I will not come back. There was a young guy on his 20s when I order and He was very rude and you can tell he is not professional and doesn't have any costumer service experience. You can try Antojitos puebla people are more friendly and there food is excellent. read more

Wow. Gil Tacos is the truth. Old school, menu board, huge servings on tortas line out the door. They are opening up the other side of the building to have a sit down area just now you got back counter seating. Dos carnitas y un cabeza taco, along with a cubana torta, wait was 20 min or so, my daughter ate her pork taco I crushed the beef and half the torta. Delicious, the torta was slightly bready but I tore out the top and it was good to go, beef was good not dry or stringy. The torta was actually better the next day imo. Great place to get your tacos/or torta on they also do burritos, mucho gracias Gil, te veo pronto! read more

I have had many tacos in the city, this place is my favorite. When I began my job on the other side of the city I worried about the lack of restaurants then I discovered this gym. The tacos are perfect size and seasoned to perfectly. It is always crowded So I would suggest calling in. Both my husband and I love this place and would recommend it to everyone. read more

This lovely little place is pretty close to my job and I drive past it often. Never have I thought to stop until today and it was worth it! While it doesn't look like much, the food was delicious and authentic! The menu being short and sweet is great because I know they focus on quality instead of quantity. I tried a chicken taco and a marinated pork torta. Delicious! read more

The food tasted fresh! I got elotes, steak taco and al pastor tacos. I got my husband choriqueso taco and a chicken taco. If you have read my reviews you will see my favorite taco spot is Taco 46 and was hoping it would compare or beat them, I was wrong haha. I didn't feel like the tacos had a lot of flavor. The elotes was delicious and they have a lot of variety that may be better than their tacos imo. I will be back! Service was friendly and it was definitely a good bang for your buck. read more

Amazing food and great service I've been coming here for years. Its a really great place to eat. My only complaint is that they raise their prices every other day. It's almost 3 times as much to eat there since the pandemic. It used to be affordable now we only go on rare occasions read more

So happy i found Gil Tacos! The food was absolutely AMAZING! very authentic, quick, reasonably priced, and most important; tasted great! From the outside it looks like a hole in the wall, but with my experience, its places like that, that have the best food! Gil Tacos definitely did not disappoint me and i cant wait to eat there again! If you like authentic Mexican food then do yourself a favor and get your butt to Gil Tacos! read more

I've lived 2 minutes away for over 6 months and I finally tried it. The only regret I have is waiting so long to try it. Seriously - deal with the line or drive it takes, because it's worth it. Ermahgerd. read more

Great Elotes, good queso and tamales. I would recommend Gil's Tacos if you want authentic.

This has been my favorite place since I first found it after moving here from Southern California. It's hard to find real mexican food here and I'm not a fan of the tex-mex stuff that is being passed off as authentic. While the menu does cater a bit to the Midwest and includes some items that I wouldn't find in Mexico, I'm always happy to stick with the best carne asada tacos and elote around. At least once a week and sometimes more often, Gil Tacos is my escape for what I call real food. read more

Awesome, so glad I found this place! Small place, but I'm usually going for take-out anyways. Cubana Torta is quite a beast. It indeed has breaded steak, chorizo with egg, ham, cheese, and a split hot dog with lettuce, tomatoes, and mayo. Good for two people, really. The bread could be a little bit better, but overall very good! The tamale I got had green chile & pork inside and was excellent! I'll have to try more things and come back! read more

Hands down one of the best Mexican places I have been to in Indianapolis!!! I stumbled upon this small "stand" because I was just in the area. Now that I know about how amazing the tacos, corn, and sauces are... I am hooked! The staff did not mind me asking to modify the order. (Asking for corn in a cup instead of on the cob.) They were very friendly and accommodating. The quality of the food is high compared to other Mexican food in the area. This place reminds me of the vibe one would get from a hot dog stand in Chicago. 1. Know what you want to order before you hold up the line. 2. Very limited seating. 3. Get in and get out. If you haven't been here before and enjoy traditional Mexican food you are truly missing out. read more

Will not be returning. They charge almost $5 for a large horchata and when they gave it to me it was all foamy and gross bc they didn't want to change it. I went back for something else and they still were trying to charge me. The food isn't all that either. Very disappointed read more

These are the best tacos in Indy. Their al pastor taco is magic! The meat has the savory-sweet-roasty flavor happening and the corn tortillas are tender and fragrant with that earthy corn scent. They've added a large dining room, so there's no more panic about being able to get a seat at the counter. The staff is friendly and the food come out fast. They always have a tray of self-serve pickled jalapenos, carrots, and onions; munch on them while waiting for your food, or pile them on your taco! There are always squeeze bottles of red and green salsas available. And, on weekends there is a mango-habanero salsa that is refreshing and blazing hot all at once. read more

I got the (#11) Hawaiian +steak. It doesn't come with all the veggies like the other tortas but they added it for me free of charge. The steak was seared and seasoned perfectly as well were the pineapple. The bread was perfect. Definitely hit the spot. The salsas are really good as well. My son had the chorizo burrito and and the meat was cooked and seasoned just right too. I'll be back again. read more

I come in here regularly and the only issue I ever have is getting enough sauce for my tacos. Want to keep the girlfriend happy by giving her the green sauce so I normally grab the bottle at the store and poure it on my tacos. Kinda hit or miss depending on how busy or who the cook is. Still pretty damn good thou!

Ok, I'm calling it now. I've been going to Gil's for years and they just expanded their dinning. THIS IS THE BEST TACO SPOT IN INDY! You will have to wait because this gem has a local following. Just off of the Sam Jones exit, it is authentic. You like hot, then help your self to the marinated hot peppers or hot sauces. The marinated pork tacos are the ones I dream about. Street corn, tamales, burrito, and guacamole are also top choices. Again, Gil's will take a little time but they are awesome. To off set the spice, get a horchata to cool your mouth (rice milk.) read more

This place has saved me during this most recent crisis! The tacos and taco salad from here have made the quarantine a little bit more bearable. They are working super hard to make sure that all of their food is clean. They've taken the extra precautions that other businesses haven't to make sure they aren't spreading the virus. Just want to give a big shout out to them to make people aware that there are businesses out there that are local and are taking the extra steps to keep us safe. Theres crazy good food here too! read more
