    Prime rib and cheesy potaotoes
    Kelly L.

This was our first time coming. It will not be our last. My friend got the queen prime rib with cheesy potatoes and I got the breaded tenderloin with waffle fries that had cheese and bacon on them and I got a peanut butter, masterpiece cake thing and a soda. My bill was only $24.10. I think that's cheap And it was delicious and I have leftovers for a whole other meal for tomorrow. Our server Lauren was wonderful even though they were super busy. She was attentive, kind, and very helpful. I shouldn't say anything because I don't want this place to get so busy that I can't get in but it was wonderful definitely worth the drive.

Who doesn't love some good bbq? The smell of the food is intoxicating. The taste sublime. Whenever I think about BBQ, i think of some delicious ribs... meat falling off the bone... succulent chicken... mouth watering pulled pork. I also think of sharing and spending time with friend and family, its meant to be a communal event that brings people together. As Anthony Bourdain said: "Barbecue may not be the road to world peace, but it's a start." Gibson's exemplifies good BBQ. Came a few times to take food home from here. The burgers are amazing! The ribs... finger lickin good! The pulled pork... i could eat that every day. The food is just wonderful. Place is also cool, its in an old building and the ambience really makes one want to stay. I would definitely love to eat here, but I must warn you... it is always busy and full of customers. You may have to wait a bit. Great place for some good BBQ. Definitely the best Ive had since moving to Ohio.

Best cut of meat that I have had in a long time. The smoked flavor was outstanding. My plan is to go every Friday at 4:30 pm to enjoy the smoked Prime Rib, Garlic Buttered Redskin Potatoes & Broccoli. I also get a cup of soup to go as the meat added is also smoked. Excellent working staff as well. Note: Quality is per par with price. ***** FIVE STARS ***** Jeff F. Celina, OH

    Nice neo-gothic bar.

Operated by brothers whose name fit their fare like blues guitars fit BBQ, Gibson's is one of THOSE joints--ones found in small towns throughout Ohio. A mom-and-pop specializing in southern-country-rural fare, it exists in an old building snugged in downtown Convoy--a village in west Van Wert County. The only thing it's missing from being a classic example of such is institutional status; Gibson's, birthed from a catering biz in operation for several years, opened in April 2018. I came over with the folks on a Saturday afternoon. The owners have the place looking good. The front is adorned with barn wood around an antique wood door, and with a 'frontier-ish' marquee hanging over the sidewalk, one is reminded of western saloons from old movies. The inside didn't escape an eye for environment. I do not know neither what the space was originally for, nor if the fixtures are original, but the place is busting out with art deco and other early 20th century styles--especially the geometric proportioned ceiling tiles and the neo-gothic designs of the bar. Such designs, surprisingly, do not clash with the country decor; slate boards with chalk, barn door signs, wagon wheel light fixtures, and beer signs all seem to blend in naturally with the architecture. The red walls suggest a warm comfort, as string light suggest relaxation and laughs. Gibson's offer a variety of seating: long tables for groups, four seaters in the back for smaller parties, and wood stools at the gorgeous bar. The staff on duty when we came were all related family members. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and timely. Our server gave us the specials--but we were all jonesing for pulled pork. I asked about their drafts and was very delighted ( and surprised) to hear they had an IPA to pour. ( in fact they had a couple crafts and ales.) other than Yuengling, they didn't have mainstream domestics on tap. My order was delicious, plentiful, and served with an eye to detail. The pulled pork was perfectly produced. Though sauce offered at the table was only decent, the flavor of the pork dominated the sandwich and was so good. The mushroom were bigger than I expected. They were uber juicy and went well ranch dressing. I tried some of my mother's fried green beans--they were good. Excellent, excellent meal. The environment and people found here are what you expect for a place in a small town. The owners father, a seventy year old man with sparkle in his eyes took the time to speak to us. He shared detail of his life and was a classic good guy, bullshitter, warm souled with charisma. His son, the owner, met us on the way out. He highly suggest prime rib--sounds like something he is proud of. I will absolutely try that the next time.

Tonight they had a special of all you can eat smoked chicken quaters with 2 sides for $9.00. Side options were mac&cheese, cheesy potatoes, chuck wagon beans, and red skin potatoes. It was very good. They have 3 bbq sauces - original (sweet traditional), strawberry habanero, and pineapple. See photo of menu for regular items - pulled chicken and pork, brisket, burger, pork tenderloin etc. The building is not far from the main intersection in Convoy. It's an old building thats very clean with wagon wheel lights hanging from the ceiling. It has a bar side and family dining. The staff is very friendly. It's a family business. They do catering too. We enjoyed the food and will return!

Delicious Haddock (with a touch of tarter sauce on side) & amazing baked beans.

Yergy's State Road BBQ - Pulled pork and brisket with mac and cheese and baked beans and Texas toast

    Yergy's State Road BBQ

I am shocked that a small Midwest town in Indiana near the Ohio border had such phenomenal BBQ!…read more I have made 2 visits and both of them have been exceptional! My first visit, I chose the Barnyard Burner Burger special. It came with pulled pork, spicy BBQ sauce, and cheese. But what was amazing about the burger was how soft, fresh, and smoky the hamburger meat was! I hadn't had a burger like this in years! I even liked it more than the BBQ, which if you follow my Yelp...that is very high praise! This week, I had the pulled pork and brisket with potato salad and beans. All phenomenal! The pulled pork is perfectly tender and smoky! I liked the pork more than the brisket but the brisket is 4 stars on its own. The potato salad has a lightly sweet mustard base to it with some eggs and relish mixed in. I enjoyed the beans more than the potato salad as the beans were in some kind of sweet and smoky conglomeration made in the back with brown sugar as a key ingredient. There are 4 sauces and I usually try to rank sauces, but I couldn't do it with these. They are all worthy on their own merit. The four sauces and a brief description are: Classic - mildly sweet tomato with a little pepper Sweet and Smoky - very sweet with a smoky taste and ketchup base Tangy - part vinegar, part tomato, all tangy Sue Tang - spicy mild to medium BBQ sauce, tomato base The one downside and it's common being a Southerner in the Mid-West is there is usually no sweet tea and if there is, it isn't sweet enough. They told me their tea maker was broke but there is a Kroger that has Milo's Sweet Tea that I have been allowed to carry in both times. Make a trip to Bluffton for Yergy's BBQ or Burgers. They are only open Thursday-Sunday.

Everything here is made from scratch, from the smoky, tender meats to the rich, satisfying sides--and you can taste the difference. Their unique smoking process brings out deep, layered flavors that set them apart from your average BBQ joint. The Big Hungry sandwich lives up to its name, combining brisket, cheese, mayo, pulled pork, coleslaw, and BBQ sauce into one unforgettable bite. It's a messy, meaty masterpiece that showcases the best of what they do. Sides like the creamy Mac N Cheese, hearty Bacon Baked Beans, and the indulgent Loaded Baked Potato Salad are clearly made with the same attention to detail and scratch-made care. From the creative combos to the quality ingredients and unmistakable smokehouse flavor, Big Hungry BBQ is a standout. Whether you're going for a Mac N Cheese Boat or a full 3 Meat Platter, you're guaranteed a meal that's both comforting and crave-worthy. Must Try: Big Hungry sandwich, Mac N Cheese Boat, and Loaded Baked Potato Salad. Thanks Nick & team you guys are amazing!!!

Decent BBQ joint on North end of town…read more.. Dropped by Lucille's for the first time on Friday for a work lunch with the crew... Been meaning/wanting to try for a while, but have never got around to it. Ok experience, but there's some areas of attention needed. Pros: Friendly/quick service, outstanding brisket, excellent bbq sauces (I particularly liked the vinegar and spicy sauces), and large portions. Cons: Over-priced, average at best sides, extremely smoky in dining room, and dirty/run down restaurant. Overall our experience was good, but the smoke in the dining room was a real problem that actually had my eyes burning/watering while we were eating (it literally looked like an AARP Club Catholic Church bingo event, it was that smoky inside the restaurant), the food is stupid expensive ($35 lunch, one person), and the sides just weren't good (bland coleslaw and broccoli salad). The restaurant also needs a facelift and desperate deep clean... It had that dirty, grimy, sticky feel on the floors and tables (presumably from all the smoke in the dining room). I still consider Shigs n' Pit to be the far and wide the best BBQ in town, but Lucille's has the potential to be really good if they can make some adjustments, improvements, and clean the place up.

Sweet Smoked Pork Steak with BBQ sauce (Lucille's BBQ, north Lima Road) - tried something…read moredifferent, good value and very tasty I prefer Lucille's BBQ plate selections as I feel they give me good value. A select smoked meat with two sides for $14-16. This gives you a good all around taste of Lucille's offerings. On this trip I selected the sweet smoked pork steak with Mac & Cheese and Wilson baked beans. The entree was $14. The pork steak was a thinly cut piece of pork - maybe 3/4 inch thick. The steak definitely had hints of smokey and grilled flavors. The meat was tender, no pink color and moist. It was easily cut when warm, not as easy as it cooled. This is a large flat piece of meat so it took time to cut into pieces and savor. The BBQ sauce was sweet with no real spicy after taste kick. Glad I tried this selection. I really like the Mac & Cheese as it is very creamy and has a nice cheese flavor. The sauce has some jalapeño pieces - so expect a little heat and kick. The Wilson baked beans are also a bit spicy. There are small pieces of brisket embedded in the sweet savory BBQ bean sauce. Lucille's has a nice selection of other delicious sides for you to try. Lucille's does a nice job with smoked BBQ meats. Make the trip north to the corner of Lima and Wallen Roads. It's worth a try!
