A necessary update, because most of these reviews are outdated from the days of previous ownership. Billy's is under new ownership and things are amazing now. They have kept the original spirit of this place, the place where my parents went on there first date in 1987. The new owners have brought things back to the roots that made this place a hot spot back in the day. They are using high quality ingredients and keeping the customers first again! I live in metro Detroit and came here recently on a trip back home with my parents on a Friday night. The crowd was lively and nearly every table was full. We ordered the famous margaritas and nachos. The margs were great and very reasonably priced. BUT THE NACHOS. I love Mexican food and eat it at least once a week. BUT THESE NACHOS are the best I've ever had.(ask for the crushed jalapeños for an extra kick) Upon further investigation I found that they use quality ground beef from a local butcher and real cheese. I ended up eating way too much. Kudos to the ladies in the kitchen. They nailed it. Tracy, one of the owners was there and was super friendly. Our server was fantastic. Even the owners mom makes pies daily! This is the kind of place you can only find in a small town, where every single person involved in the business takes pride in what they are doing. Whether you are just passing through on US 30, or live in one of the local communities, I recommend you rediscover Billy's. It's as good or even better as back in the day!

Think it's time I updated my review from a few years ago as it was when it was called El Mexicano…read moreand it was in a different location. They say a rose by any other name smells just as sweet, in this case whether its called "El Mexicano" or "Cilantros" it tastes just as good. The delicious food I wrote about in my prior post years ago is still mote than valid. Your taste buds will have a great experience eating at Cilantros! I have come several times here with family, friends or business associates and I have always come out happy and full. My favorite dish is still the Pollo La Isla. It is composed of fillets of chicken breast with bacon, Chorizo and cheese dip on the top. Served with Mexican rice and guacamole salad and tortillas. Tell me that doesn't sound good!?!? Well, it tastes better than it sounds! Its addicting! Service is of course quick and efficient, even when it gets full or you cone with a large party. I have come here several times during lunch on a workday and I am back to my desk by the hour. The place, though, is a big improvement over the old. More light, more open, the bar area looks beautiful. Definitely worth the move. My only gripe comes from the bar area. They do not sell Kahlua, which is a pretty Mexican drink, and also one of my faves. If I could have some, while here, well I would love coming here even more! Hint Hint. Cilantros is a great local place in Van Wert! If you have not tried it, you are missing out!

The chips were like restaurant style chips you could get from the store. The steak nachos had zero flavor and again, the chips weren't actual Mexican restaurant quality. If you are in the mood for Mexican, go north on Washington street

My first encounter with this local gem was over twenty years ago on my first visit to this Ohio town, and it's still around with improvements, enhancements and is still great overall! A terrific family run business. From its jam-packed with a wide array of dry and can goods on grocery shelves, great meats, extensive local baked goods, and a much renovated and expanded restaurant and really nice Mexican-style bar! If you're in town and are in the mood for an ice-cold Dox Equis and/or Jalisco style Mexican cuisine, this the place for you! Their goodies run the gamut from an incredible Pozole to Grilled Chicken delights, to delectable Burritos to mouthwatering tacos, some terrific, refried beans and incredible chips and salsa! I think they are one of the top five Mexican food joints in the Defiance area. Oh, and do your groceries while you're at it. Buen provecho ya'll.

What really bothered me was the surprise 3.5% surcharge they add if you pay with a card. That includes debit cards too. I didn't see any signs about it and wasn't told until the check came. At that point, I didn't have cash, so I had no choice. For anyone wondering, surcharges on debit cards aren't allowed under Visa and Mastercard rules. I get that places are trying to cover costs, but it should be clear up front and within the rules. I wouldn't have stayed if I knew about the extra fee--or I would've stopped at my bank across the street to grab some cash. Just a heads-up for anyone thinking of stopping by: bring cash.

We really enjoyed the food, service, and the surroundings. Fiesta Habanero's Mexican Grill offers four daily specials of $1 off: two lunch items & two dinner items. I ordered two soft beef tacos, rice & beans, and a side of warm soft tortillas. To eat the rice & beans, I tear off pieces of the warm tortillas and scoop up a little of each. This makes for a great taste of traditional Mexico, as taught to me by my late Uncle Ralph Grennay. Uncle Ralph could trace his ancestry back to Mexico, in the days (c1864) that the French supported Emperor Maximilian (an Austrian), and his efforts to overthrow the Republic under President Benito Juárez. (Apologies for the short history reminder.) The beans and rice were excellent. Not greasy or dry, and the flavor was just right for me. They served enough for a meal, for me, but I wanted to try the tacos while they were still fresh. The tacos were great. Just the right amount of ingredients, including the white Mexican cheese which provided its own melty goodness to this handful of great flavor. The veggies added to the flavor and texture without appearing to be "filler" so the owner can skimp on the meat, like so many places do. The beef was very tasty and not overly seasoned, nor was it greasy. One of the best tacos I have had, in my remembering. I had to take the second taco home for later. I heated it, open-faced, in the microwave, which often destroys tacos. This rewarming was not bad, as microwave leftovers go, but eating the fresh taco, at the restaurant was definitely the preferred method. The staff presented a friendly atmosphere, and were very helpful. They brought us our order in good time, and it was correct the first time. My family and I recommend Fiesta Habanero's Mexican Grill, and we will be returning to try their other offering. (I believe they open every work day at 1100, but I did not notice their closing hours.)
