I just had quite possibly the worst pulled pork sandwich of my life. I do not say this lightly as I am a smoker of meats myself. First: ordered a pulled pork on sub bun. Was served pulled pork on flat bread. 2: The pork was definitely not fresh cooked. Don't know how long it had been refrigerated or frozen but had an off taste. There is no evidence of a wood pile or smoker on site so assuming product is produced somewhere else. The sauce (sweet heat) lacked any distinct flavor although had a little heat. I would be embarrassed to serve anyone a product of this quality. The other menu items may be okay but I suggest steering clear of any smoked meats. read more

The customer service is trash... it takes HOURS to get your food and when they fuck up your order for the SECOND time you get a "well everyone here is new and they have no idea what they're doing." Stopped in for a to go order. The service was fast. The potato salad was a little heavy on the onion but I really liked it and could have eaten the entire container full. My husband and I both got the brisket sandwich. I'm not a big fan of smoked meat. My husband, who loves smoked meats, thought his brisket was a bit dry. We stopped here on a whim. We saw the Yelp reviews and wanted something quick but not run of the mill. We were pleasantly surprised with the taste and quality of the food. We had brisket sandwiches, which we smokey, tender and delicious, especially with the hot BBQ sauce. My son wanted a bacon and onion sandwich, which he enjoyed the thick chunks of bacon mixed with onion. We will surely make this a stop whenever we travel up and down I-75. Headed from Ohio to Indiana on Christmas Day. All of the other places to eat were closed and this was a last resort. The last thing we wanted to eat was gas station food. It didn't look the newest or the cleanest since it was run by the gas station staff. When my wife and daughters hot ham and cheese and hot turkey and cheese were delivered they were pleasantly surprised by the taste. Would have given 5 stars but it took about 15 minutes sitting at a drive thru. Overall it's t was a good stop! read more

Loved it! We hiked 15 miles of the Buckeye trail and we were so tired. We stayed at the Microtel Inn and Suites and when we arrived we asked what were the food options. They told us about the Hickory Pitt and that they delivered! So we tried the bbq chicken pizza, cheddar broccoli bites, bbq shotgun fries and sweet cornbread. We loved it all! The broccoli cheddar bites was our favorite, but we really loved it all. It was hot and fast delivery! This is the 2nd time we've ordered from the Hickory Pit, and both times our order was messed up! On our first visit about 2 wks ago, we ordered at the store, one pulled chicken and one pulled beef brisket sandwich. They did 2 chickens, no beef. Today, we called in and ordered 2 pulled chicken sandwiches/ one with lettuce & tomato (no mayo ordered!) , and one pulled beef brisket..... with BBQ sauce on the side for each sandwich. Got home (Elida) and found we had 2 chicken clubs with lettuce, tomato & mayo and the beef brisket....but absolutely NO BBQ sauce. Too far to just run back for the sauce. The chicken club sandwiches had only a very thin layer of the chicken we were looking forward to, and both were drenched in mayo. And we only ordered chicken, not the chicken club! Very bland sandwiches without the BBQ sauce....and this is a BBQ restaurant.... we wanted BBQ!! So disappointing! Not sure we will make the effort to drive over again. After reading the other reviews, it looks like they have trouble getting their orders correct! read more
