My regular Giant. Big store, tons of dry goods, plenty of meat and dairy, hit or miss with produce. If you are just looking for highlights, there you go! Going a bit deeper, the store has plenty of parking which while I've seen quite a few cars in, I've never seen packed. That keeps the store busy but not so crazy as to make shopping difficult. Giant comes with reasonable prices and great prices on sale items imo. You'll be able to find most of what you are looking for here without too much searching. They have a bakery, seafood section, and plenty of freeze products alongside the standard dry goods and larger than normal produce section. My only complaint is while they have a big produce section, it doesn't seem to have a lot of selection - if that makes any sense. Giant has a practice of promoting confusing and misleading "buy 2 get 1 free" offers **where they deliberately conceal the cost of a single item**. This is a violation of PA consumer and ag department laws for "clear and conspicious pricing" as well as an apparent effort to mislead consumers into committing to purchase (by placing in their cart and waiting until checkout, it at all, to learn the price of the product) with a very prominent inducement that purports dramatic savings. This was confirmed by a member of the produce department when I point this out, he said that "corporate won't let us put the prices out here with this promotion" read more

I did my grocery shopping here this week with 15 items on my list I intended to buy. I left with 7. The other items? Empty shelves. And this isn't unusual - this is my experience every single time I shop here. If this store wasn't within walking distance of my apartment I would never come here. Other stores weathered the COVID shortages and are back to normal, but this store is abysmal at keeping their shelves stocked. And I think a part of it is that the employees just don't care, but I suspect another part of it is that they could be trying to push you to buy the more expensive name brands. The store brands are rarely fully stocked. There are only plain bagels about 1 in every 20 times I come to the store. Sure, I could buy the name brand, but they're literally twice the price! I'm not doing it - I'm just not buying bagels. Which means I'm also not buying the sour cream I was planning to put on them. Want frozen vegetables? Good luck - the case is usually 90% empty. Frozen pizza? If you're lucky enough to actually find the brand you want in stock, you're probably not finding the variety you wanted because the section will be at least 50% empty. You can't meal plan before you shop here, because the chances they'll have everything you need for any individual meal you'd like to make are about zero. Doesn't what day of the week or what time of day you're here, the experience is always the same. So I find myself walking more and more often over to Whole Foods to get what I need. Sure their store brands are slightly more expensive, but they're still cheaper than the name brands here. And I can get everything on my list. And I can't possibly be the only one leaving here every time spending a fraction of what I intended. I wonder if the owners know how much money they're losing with all the constantly empty shelves? If there is a worse market in the area I would be shocked. The recent renovation appears to have done nothing except add more self check kiosks, most of which are out of service. The one check out for alcohol is pathetic and made worse by customers routinely trying to buy alcohol with food stamps. The staff is out lunch and could care less. Try heading further west to St David's or West Chester for an actual suburban grocery shopping experience. This store may as well be at 52nd and Girard. read more

The single worst problem at store number 6506 is the abysmal condition of the self check out scanners. On Saturday, I went to scanner number six. In an order of approximately 20 items, I stopped counting aftet 10 interruptions because of the machine shutting down. I have used the system since it began. I never have these continuous interruptions at any other store-not at your store nor at Local, Acme, Whole Foods or Costco shopping areas. if the situation does not improve, I will stop going and civil most people I know. read more

When we moved to the area a few months ago, I was so happy to live within walking distance to a huge, newly renovated Giant. It only took a couple of trips to realize this Giant was lacking everything I was expecting to get out of a grocery store. Their customer service is terrible, which is something I can typically live with if everything else is in order. Unfortunately, it seems nothing is in order here. Their inventory is abysmal...frequently out of basic necessities. The one time I went in, the entire wall of produce was gone. No lettuce, no carrots, etc. Items I've never had any issue getting anywhere else, I can never find. Sesame oil, tamari...non existent. Their whole Asian food isle is very scarce. Just the other day I had trouble finding a regular sized bottle of mayo, the options being travel size and super size. The quality of food from the deli counter is so poor, most of the time our lunch meat has gone bad within a few days of buying it. I'm not sure how this is possible, unless they're still serving past the best-by date. After reading several other reviews, I see these issues have been a problem for a while. I've been going to this Giant for 16 years. They have consistently let their best employees go or moved them to other stores. This store has a habit of not carrying the most basic items. There was a period where they just stopped stocking vanilla Yoplait yogurt. The stocking guy was incredulous that I thought it was something they should have. I've cut them a lot of slack during their endless remodel, but I think I'm finished using this location for good. Today I asked someone in customer service if they had food coloring because I couldn't locate it. The guy looked at me like I was crazy and said "we haven't had that in like a minute." Asked the cleanup dude and he found it right away. The guy in the meat department is awesome, the cleanup crews are great and the pharmacist and assistants are fantastic... but it doesn't make up for all of the other shortcomings. read more

I have been shopping at this store for many years.it used to be geuardis,then safeway ,and now giant. The decline in the experience of shopping here continues to accelerate. The prices keep going higher( much faster than inflation),the quality of the staff keeps getting worse( virtually no customer service) . How low can they go!!! They have removed almost all the cashiers and it was the capstone of a terrible experience. Many older citizens shop at the store and they had great difficulty using the self Checkouts. I used to love this Giant, but it's selection, quality, and customer service have steadily declined. During my visit today, I was unable to find staple items and meat that I was looking for. Additionally, when I got home I noticed that two of my yogurts have been expired for 1-2 months. One dated January 10, 2021 and the other is February 7, 2020- today is March 7, 2021. I came to this location because it was close to other errands I needed to complete. PHARMACY REVIEW ONLY. For approximately 17 months prior to the date of this review, I worked for a gentleman who required prescriptions at this pharmacy . He had many medications so there were frequent trips to pick up refills. Every single time they were kind to him and caring and took their time with him. They also got to know me as i accompanied him for prescription pickups. Not once did someone fail to say hello to him and address him by name or in my case they always said " Hello Donna" or my nickname Dee. What corporate type pharmacy in this day and age knows and addresses you by your first name? I can tell you this - none that I've dealt with in the last 15 years. But they do here! I was so impressed with the professionalism and caring attitude that I decided to use this pharmacy for myself. And they continue to afford me wonderful pleasantries and courtesies. Giant is not my regular shopping food store, but I do stop here from time to time to grab items if I'm passing by. Most of the time the items I want are in stock. I usually use the self checkout as I find it easier to just do it myself rather then bother anyone. Ms Bev supervises the self checkout and is always there if I ever need her. She is such a nice lady always saying hello and there to help. One of the reasons I like Giant is I feel like I find small treasures in there from time to time. I love this store! We're feeling our way around the area, new to town and living there only part time. I couldn't believe how friendly and helpful everyone was -- particularly Dave, the assistant deli manager. Despite a crazy, busy store pre-Thanksgiving, Dave took his time with us, seeing we were unfamiliar with the lay of the land. Speaking of Thanksgiving, we decided to order the turkey "kit." At $60, it included a pre-cooked turkey, stuffing, gravy, cranberries, two types of potatoes, green beans, rolls and a pie. (For comparison's sake, a cooked turkey with nothing else at Whole Foods was $63.) The meal was supposed to feed 4 - 6 people, but realistically it could have fed 6-8. And it was delicious! Except for the string beans; too mushy for my taste. Giant's shelves were nicely stocked. I'm not kosher, but I was impressed with the great assortment of Kosher foods! Also a number of buy-one-get-one deals. Because of the popularity of this store -- we'd been there prior to this visit -- the parking lot always appears to be crazy busy and there are too many carts scattering the lot. One of my pet peeves: inconsiderate people too lazy to return their wagons to the cart corral. If you're in the area, give this store a go. And fyi, if you buy wine, pay for it in the wine section, following state law regulations. You'll be wasting your time at the general check out. read more

As I approached the cashiers to pay for a bottle of wine. There are 2 lines and 2 cashiers. As I step up, the cashier immediately turns and walks away from the area. Never said a thing or acknowledged me. Never said this register is closed, nothing?? Once I realized she's gone forever, I stepped over to line #2. I asked the cashier, "Weren't there two lines?" He turns, looks surprised that she had completely left the area, then confusingly responds, "I guess not anymore?" He very kindly completed my purchase and sincerely apologized for his co-workers disappearing act. When I found her in another part of the store, I asked her what that was all about? She told me, "Oh, I didn't see you." Mind you, we locked eyes and I stood in line for several minutes? I'm the last person to pull the race card, (I'm mixed), but this was beyond blatant. I'm offended and disappointed that in 2020, we're still dealing with this type of behavior. For some reason around 3pm to 5pm the staff at this Giant seem to be extra ignorant and bossy. Specifically the bald white guy at the beer register and the tall black girl directing the traffic to the self checkout machines. There is no real structure or respect for the older adults coming in there to shop during this weird renovation they are having. Instead of being polite and catering to them, they force them to find a spot in line and scream at them to go to whatever open self check out there is. Please have more respect for the older patrons of this community because without them these two bad apples would not have a job. read more

I would love to give Giant 5 stars due to its amazing variety of food and other products. However, I just can't give 5 stars due to subpar customer service. I can't explain how much variety this store has. Fruits, vegetables, deli meats, breads, deserts, dairy products. Pretty much everything you can think of! Plus, they have many of their products available in kosher, gluten free and organic options. Some other reviews stated that the store is laid out oddly, but it is actually organized very well. The "speciality sections" consisting of kosher, gluten free and kosher sections come first, followed by the generic options. If you don't need the "specialty options", just walk past them and it makes Perfect sense. Towards the end of the store, they have a Starbucks, a PNC bank, a bakery, a salad bar, a cafe and a beer and wine garden. I was actually shocked by how good the bakery was. Canolis, cakes, cookies and around 20 different donut options. This Giant even have self-checkout options. However, it loses a star for how bad some of the staff members were. Throughout the majority of my shopping trip, I really believed Giant would be getting 5 stars. It started off when a staff member yelled at me "There is NO ice" when I was trying to get some ice for my fountain drink. I was treated rudely and I ended up with a warm Coke. However, it got worse at checkout. The cashier and the bagger did their jobs, but they were not too polite. The cashier constantly made snarky remarks. I didn't really mind the bagger, but she stuffed the bags to the brim. They seemed to weigh around 10 pounds. I plan to come back due to their amazing variety, but I would greatly appreciate if they improved their customer service. read more

If you want to go food shopping for food or anything else don't go to wynnewood Giant. They never have anything and the customer service is seriously bad! I just encounter two young girls who were extremely ignorant for no reason. I have tried to give this local store a chance but it constantly disappoints. Will, the manager on duty won't even listen to my complaint. The two girls behind the customer service counter were rude and down right disgraceful, acting like spoiling little kids and The manager was there to pacify them. One actually said to me 'my manager will take my side. Your side? Seriously, bad customer service. What about just helping the customer. Repeatedly I have gotten very poor assistance from the people who work there. Often the person checking out your groceries or in self check out is on the phone mid conversation. Employees will never smile and if you dare to complain your statement will be followed by a long silence and then "okay, I will tell them". I don't complain a lot but I avoid this store just because encounters there are somewhat unpleasant. I use the Havertown store. They are consistently more helpful and polite. read more

Giant (which use to be genuardis) has come a long way. They know have wine and beer and the staff is distinct and friendlier than before. I would say the best thing about Giant (besides the wine, of course) is their Sushi. They have sushi Wednesday and it's at a discounted price of $4.99. I have been shifting my shopping to other stores because I hate going to this one so much. There are constantly workers with huge carts blocking the isles. It's not always well stocked- at my last visit I needed small ziplocks, they were completely absent. Employees are rude in general. The prices are often not updated on the shelf. The worst is the check out- most of the time there are very few cashiers, maybe one or two. The self check out machines are the worst across all the chains: they incessantly get stuck for no reason. If you want to make the customer do the work at least provide better check out machines. To save aggravation I try to go for a few items or brands and avoid making big purchases at Giant. read more

I was called a liar repeatedly by the woman in customer service and her coworker continued to bait me. I did a self check out but I had a bottle of wine. The customer service person came over and cleared the system. She told me you normally have to pay for wine in the beer garden but she could ring me up in customer service. So I finished checking out and then stood in line in customer service. When it was my turn she told me that she never said she could ring me up. She had such a nasty tone. I asked her you said that like I'm lying. Are you calling me a liar. She said yes because you are a liar. She called me a liar a few more times. I said I was done talking to her and demanded a manager. The. The other customer service person chimed in that I was being loud. I told him he can shut up too and I wanted the manager. The manger eventually came out of the office unmasked. He asked me what happened. I told him the story and the girl said because I am a liar. So I said this is the 5th time your customer service person called me a liar and she replied she didn't care because I was a liar. I asked the mama her if he was going let his customer service person talk to a customer like that and in front of you? She just told you she didn't even care. The manager pulled me aside to talk to me. He said he was going to deal with her later and if I still wanted the wine. I stated this is beyond wine. I stated that you heard for yourself how she talked to a customer and said she didn't even care. He then looked at my cart and then said here take the wine. So he told me to take the wine without paying. I reported this and the regional manager is suppose to be investigating it. read more

I didn't have much time to stroll around but there is a redbox inside, clean, large organic/health selection, very high ceilings and turkey hill iced tea! This is my neighborhood supermarket I have patronized for many years. I need to go elsewhere because it is so poorly run and truly aggravating every time. There must be a serious management problem because it is utter chaos in there. The self checkout machines have chronic problems - far more than any other local establishment - and the staff is extremely unfriendly when asked for assistance. This is not due to the renovation since it has been like this for years. Various employees seem disgusted by serving customers and say neither hello nor thank you. The Starbucks, which looks very nice now, is horrendously run. There is never an employee there in the middle of the day and when someone does show up to serve customers, they are clearly extremely irritated and rude. Today, people waited in the line for 20 minutes while being told someone was coming, but never showed. It happens every single time I'm there. Why is there a Starbucks if it is not consistently serving customers and they don't even bother to put a sign alerting people if it is not open? Frustrating. So many better run and friendlier markets in the area. read more

I've been coming to this Giant location for several years now. Despite all the negative reviews, I haven't had a negative experience here (knock on wood). It's clean and the staff have all been friendly so far. This location has a Starbucks and PNC bank at the left entrance. I've seen a decent selection on their baked goods. I came here on a Tuesday morning before and their bagels were still warm and fresh. I also love that they have a large selection and area for flowers. There are many nice ones to choose from if you're in a hurry to find a last minute bouquet. They also have the Kosher and organic section/aisle that I like to explore before I check out. Depending on the time that you go, it can get busy very quickly but because of the convenience of location you really can't get around that. It's literally on everyone's way home. Overall, I would recommend this to others and will continue to shop here. read more

Seriously, I can't ever review customer service at chain stores because I understand why people would be irritated or annoyed while doing their job. Particularly when dealing with the types of people that frequent this store and given the type of job this is. My review is focused on the food. They have a really large selection of fresh food. I get great salmon and veggies here. Also, there is the largest selection of Kosher, Vegan, Vegetarian food I have seen in any Giant within 20 miles of this one. The prices are great and there are always good sales going on in the fresh fruit/veggies/seafood area which are always the most expensive things on my list. read more

Pros: Clean, wide aisles. Reasonable prices. "Specialty" items like kefir, tempeh, etc. Surprisingly good quality meat; knowledgeable and helpful butchers. Big parking lot. Surprisingly good pizza made in house. Cons: I can count at least three times that staffmembers there have decided to carry on social hour instead of helping me. Last time I was there, the cashier audibly huffed when I walked up to her *open* line, interrupting her conversation with a co-worker. I also got to hear that co-worker whine loudly about being asked by the manager to help an elderly disabled person to her car. :-| Items are frequently out of stock or simply not shelved. For instance, they sell buttermilk, but it is *never* on display. You always have to ask someone to bring it out. read more

The only reason I shop here is because of location. I find their products from bagels to produce go bad in a day. Strawberries are always moldy or kept at too cool of temperature. Bagels are hard and some molded. Most recently I purchased "specialty cheese" and found mold. I've tried this Giant several times since it opened and am now giving up on shopping there. I have no experience in other branches of Giant, so I can't compare it to other stores in the chain, but I can easily compare it to what it replaced: Genuardi's (Safeway). From that perspective, I think Giant is a major step down. I could go issue by issue thru the store to detail why I think this, but here are a few points that I think illustrate the key reasons I feel Giant is a disappointment. 1. Limited product selection: Where Genuardi's carried multiple brands of refried beans in the international food section, Giant carries only "Old El Paso." In the Pasta section, about half of the Barilla and 3/4 of the Dececco pastas have been eliminated in favor of a heavy emphasis on Rienzi pastas and discount pastas produced by San Giorgio. Even the cereal section offers less than Genuardi's did. It's worse over in the produce section where Giant chose to remove space for produce and replace it with an entire wall of "specials" from around the store--at last visit this included a large quantity of candy and cookies (about the last thing I want in the produce section while I'm shopping with a kid). This means that there is less produce available, and fewer choices. Giant also cut most of the organic produce that Genuardi's carried. I found some behind a support column, but it was a paltry offering. 2. Emphasis on "savings" rather than wide variety: Giant is aimed at value focused shoppers. Genuardi's (Safeway) aimed to sell quality products at all price levels. Giant can maintain "value" pricing by limiting the scope of what it offers customers. Giant would never say that it doesn't offer the choice that Genuardi's did, but it doesn't. This means that if you don't fit Giant's target market, the chain doesn't want to invest in keeping you as a customer. You'll notice that while Genuardi's had a place you could give written feedback, Giant does not. It wants you to sign in at their website and make comments there (which allows them to make money off your email and demographic info). Giant wants you to either go away or change, and Giant is pretty sure you are going to change. It knows there isn't much of an alternative aside from a Whole Foods/Trader Joe's/Farmer's Market combo. in other words, Giant knows it may not have everything that you want, but no single other place does either (Super Fresh in Wynnewood is awful and driving to ACME on Montgomery Ave., is inconvenient). I have a lot of other issues with the store, but those are the broader problems that I don't think are going to change. It's possible that the software in the self check-out registers will get better (hah), and it's possible that Giant will allow customers to use a number rather than be forced to carry a club card...But I don't think Giant can change the larger issues, and I'm not going to wait around to see if the place gets better. read more
