slow and disorganized. Poorly lit. Often appears understaffed, and the staff seem despondent and disinterested. Worst store in area.

I didn't like Genuardi's and Giant isn't any better. Giant improved the look of the store. It seems more open with the shorter shelving, but at the cost of the aisles being more cramped together. The shelves are well stocked and I usually can find what I came for. The produce is acceptable, but it always seems like there isn't much out and the variety of items isn't that great. The main problem is the employees and overall character of this store is just really depressing. No one seems to care at all about being there and the whole store just gives off this vibe of not caring. But, I guess the most important part of the store is that the items are kept in stock and the shelves in order. For the most part that's true. I only come here when I need to pick something up really quick and will continue to do just that. For that purpose Giant is alright. read more

I use this location for the PeaPod pickup service. I always have to wait ten to twenty minutes for someone to show up after I call. There have been many times I have had to call two or three times. It defeats the purpose of the pickup order! read more

I never thought I'd miss Genuardi's. I wasn't happy when Genuardi's replaced Food Fair, but it WAS nice getting a full service store. When they'd decided to sell, it went downhill quickly. Everybody was excited about Giant coming in, but I think it's an abomination. Giant has gotten rid of a lot of real ingredient food products. It's great if you like ultra-processed, shelf-stable, convenience food. Dear God they sell shelf-stable bacon! Worse than the selection is the utter lack of customer service. Many of the employees are hold-overs from Genuardi's. Management, however, seem to be new, and apparently customer satisfaction is not an incentive at Giant. Can't wait for the new Whole Foods. I used to love this grocery store. Today I go there to pick a few things & there is a line outside the store about 40 people long. There is an employee handing out wipes & only letting a few people in at a time. This is NOT the high peak time of the virus infection; we are supposedly coming down from it. So tell me WHY are we being regulated into the store. This policy was NOT in place a week ago. So, I decided to not even bother. I think we are being controlled a bit too much unless there were a thousand people in the store I see no reason for these EXTREME measures. EVERYONE in the line had a mask on which I support. I stop in here only because it is next to the post office. Compared to another Giant I have used quite regularly, this has some positives but also negatives. There is for me, a good variety of vegan and vegetarian products but they have very minimal past section, not an especially great tea selections, and less variety of kitchen cleaning choices. Stuff I could find easily at another Giant just isn't available here. It's a physically large store but seems to have less of things that I traditionally look for. On their wifi right now--it's slower than dialup--just checked out of their line to buy a salad and while second in line at the self checkout, I was yelled at by an employee: "Sir! there're lines in the express lanes that are moving rather quickly." "Ok" I responded, confused at the level of anger. When I got to the express lanes, however, they were moving extremely slowly, so I went back to the self checkout, where the same woman informed me that one of the machines should be opening up soon, pointing to one where a woman was getting ready to go. "Thanks." I said, a little sarcastically. When I went to check out my salad, it said to wait for an attendant before I could even push button, then the lady manning the self checkout station yelled at me, saying "sir with the salad, please place your salad back on the scanner." It was annoying. I've shopped here several times before because it is the closest grocery store to my house, and have always had subpar experiences. This was definitely the worst. Additional complaints: The prices make no sense. E.g., sometimes you can buy certain items in larger quantities, like a 32 oz. can versus a 16 oz. can. The rationale should be that buying the larger item saves you money, since you're paying for less packaging. AKA "buying in bulk." But here, I have seen several times where the larger items are more expensive than the smaller, so it's actually cheaper to get, for example, 2 16oz. bottles of something than one 32 oz. bottle, which makes no sense--I think their pricing guy is just lazy or something. Another time, I was trying to buy cilantro but the produce shelf was out. I asked a guy who looked like a senior manager, who was in conversation with someone else who looked managerial, if they had anymore cilantro in the back. His response: "The produce guys went home already so you'll have to come back tomorrow." Finally, I bought a rotisserie chicken here one time and it was all dried out and not very good at all. Bottom line: this grocery store blows, and I would never go here if it wasn't within easy walking distance of my house. When the Whole Foods across the street opens up they will hopefully adapt or go out of business. read more

This place is the heart of darkness. The shelves are bare most of the time. The aisle are narrow. The deli takes forever. Now after signing up for store card and using it many years by entering my phone number it suddenly has been purged from the system. I happily dive 30 minutes away to go to Wegmans. This is our current go-to super market, mostly because of geographic convenience and I like their all-natural section. I never had to get help from anyone other than in produce and my experience was great. I know some of their cashiers from over the years and they are always friendly. I got a delivery from instacart, and it is very convenient that i do not have to go into the store, but i was super disappointed with how my groceries were bagged! The amount of plastic waste, is outrageous. A lot of my items were on ONE BAG ALONE. They could've used half the amount of bags that they did. I love the service, but i think it is important that they be a little less wasteful when bagging my things. read more

While I too lament the loss of the Genuardi's (imagine coming back to school after the summer holiday and discovering a reorganized store), I can't say that I am too disappointed in Giant. All of the essentials are carried here and the cafe area remains tiny, but with tasty pizza offerings. Sometimes they offer samples and the veggie pizza was great! The kosher section is thriving as well. In addition, this supermarket is super clean and not sketchy at all, which is good because I tend to grocery shop at weird hours. They also have good specials and sales, which is good for college kids on budgets (and a lot shop here). However, I have to agree with other Yelpers when talking about the variety of items offered to shoppers. I feel that there has been a significant drop in the different brands of items that are offered here. In some cases, like that of hummus, a few varieties are located in one area of the store, but then by traveling across the Giant, one can find a treasure trove of other kinds of hummus. Very odd placement and deceiving selection. In other cases, though, all of the types of the product are next to each other, but certain brands that I've grown used to have vanished. For example, in the pasta section, my Barilla is gone! Ronzoni and San Giorgio stole the show. Not that most people will complain about pasta... but when you have grown up with one brand your whole life and it's not at your usual supermarket, things get blue. I will continue to frequent this supermarket because a) of the great prices, and b) because of its convenience to my location. However, the selection and some layout choices are not ideal. read more

This supermarket has most of what I need. Other than the acme on Montgomery this place has the largest kosher section I have ever seen. We come here pretty routinely and just note that on the weekends it's super crowded. Most of the time nowadays we just order through peepod so I don't actually have to come in here on saturdays or sundays. read more

Update 11-16-14; pizza stinks. It's no longer homemade dough it's pre made and tastes like it & the price jumped 3$. Clean place, Good pizza, good selection of fruits and veggies, I've never even SEEN a kosher section so this seems pretty good too. Everyone behind a counter has been great, I wish all the staff was that helpful but it's not Publix so it is what it is. Flowers always look good and they have had everything I've been looking for except beer but they do have a machine that buys gift cards, so I'm happy, glad it's close by! read more

This is more or less a review for who ever orders things. For the last few holiday weekends that always have bbq around them they never seem to have non pre seasoned ribs?! I know they cater to the area which is now a bunch of idiot savants but to the people that do know how to season and cook what they like and want it's a slap in the face! You'd think they would at least have some especially because on total off season for ribs they have them then...winter time. As for customer service the managers are lazy and won't work 5min past the shift. I love Giant Food Stores in general but I absolutely despise going to the one in Wynnewood. The store associates are either rude, indifferent, uncaring or unknowing, or all of the above. It doesn't matter if it's the Deli, the meat dept. , customer service, you barely get the time of day. And forget the front end checkers. They're impossible to deal with. I blame it mostly on store management. Since the company was purchased by a European firm, they have focused primarily on cost cutting. Very little money goes into training and customer service. If you can breath, you have a pulse, you can get a job. It's a shame because the store itself is nice and the selection is adequate. The kosher section is really great and the people there behave much differently than the rest of the store. If you're not buying for religious reasons go across the street to Whole Foods. They're much nicer and the prices aren't that much different. read more

I understand why some have given negative reviews of customer service. In the past, I had one really unpleasant experience with the customer service department over a price discrepancy a year ago. However, I would say that in the last 6 months it has improved a bit. The cashiers are a bit more friendly, some more than others. That's fine - I don't need them to be my friends or be overly fake cheerful - just don't be rude and treat the customers like people. (Of course, that goes the other way too - these are hard jobs and customers can be rude and nasty too). There are many things I prefer to go to Whole Foods or Trader Joe's for, but Giant has things those other stores don't. The kosher section is one, and has pretty good prepared foods and a good selection of baked goods and holiday specialties. For housewares and cleaning implements like mops and sponges, it's well stocked and easier than Bed Bath and Beyond or driving to another big box store. If you like Starbucks, that's there. If you need a bank, there's one there. There's a pharmacy. Greeting cards that don't cost $7. Non-organic produce is generally as good as the non-organic produce at Whole Foods. Their opening hours are very convenient. The parking lot is large enough, unlike TJs and Whole Foods. All in all, I'm glad this store is there. My one negative: the store is very poorly lit. Some new LEDs or just more lighting would make it altogether more pleasant. read more

I only go here if I need to make a quick trip for a few things. The workers here are brutal! I mean brutal! They could not be more ignorant. I will not go to the deli counter if I see this one guy there. He acts like he will jump over the counter if you ask for one more item of dare to ask for your order sliced thin. Only self check out! I honestly hate coming to this giant, the bad reviews are for good reason. I'd honestly rather drive all the way over to the giant on township line rd in Havertown. Where do I start? It's usually mobbed, employees are rude and incompetent. They never have as good of a selection as other Giant's, there are items I regularly buy that I know they don't carry here. On the other hand, they do have a very large kosher selection so if you eat kosher it may be worth it to go here. My biggest pet peeve is every time I come here I go to put in my deli order on the touch pad so I can do my shopping while it's being prepared. Every time I've tried to do this here the feature to place a deli order is conveniently "out of order", so you have to stand there and wait forever to make your order. I have actually walked out of this supermarket and not gotten anything out of frustration before. Save yourself the trouble. read more

It has been a sad, downhill slide since Genuardi's got sold. I never thought I'd miss Genuardi's, true, but I didn't actively dislike the store. What is truly remarkable is that Giant actually makes SAFEWAY look good by comparison, or at least this Giant does. What I wouldn't do for a Wegmans . . . The store is well-stocked and even when packed, the layout permits getting around with a cart easily. I can't say, however, that I even go for the convenience anymore. The check-out for the beer garden and menu items is painfully slow. I've seen people get of line and leave their items out of frustration. There are two stations in the beer garden, I've only ever seen one staffed. I've noticed employees standing around talking when they need to staff the register. read more

Almost every time I go to this store they are sold out of at least one item I am looking for. I don't understand how such a large store could have this issue but it happens consistently. The staff look like they can't wait to get off work and would rather not be there and tend to have no idea where any of the items in the store are. It's not unfriendly but not very welcoming. The food is decent but the selection tends to not be as varied as other major stores in the area. I find that I usually have to go to another grocery store to complete my shopping list. I go here due to convenience but it tends to not be convenient most of the time. The manager really needs to do some work turning the store around. read more

I have shopped my last shop at this Giant. Sundried tomato bagels be damned. Why is (almost) everyone who works here SO miserable? And why are they allowed to treat the customers so crappy? I also agree with Vanessa W. about the personal conversations going on while they totally ignore the customers. And it was the same way when it was Genuardi's (I think they kept most of the staff). I even started doing the self-serve check-out just to avoid being abused by their staff. But, sadly, today, I needed the one girl's help with something. She managed to take care of my problem while completely ignoring me at the same time (they are really skilled at that!). So, I'm doing what I should have done a LONG time ago: instead of just limiting my purchases at this Giant, I am done with them altogether. ...And I do think it's THIS particular Giant, not the whole chain. Ie., this AREA, where many businesses seem to enjoy being crappy and unprofessional to their customers, like it's a job requirement. Acme, here I come! read more

What a "giant" disappointment. Really liked Giant in Plymouth Meeting (Chemical Road). Great salad and hot food selections, large and well priced seafood, good butcher and lots of choices. I was anxious for Wynnewood to open to experience Giant close to home. WHAT A COMPLETE DISASTER...everything good about Plymouth Meeting doesn't exist here. Prices are high, few real specials, tiny seafood and butcher AND THE AMBIANCE REALLY STINKS. BJ's has more character!!! I'm through with Giant and going to Wynnewood Super Fresh and until I hear Giant gets with it, I'm done. (BTW, the few times I was there, it was deserted...never saw that at Genuardi's!!) read more

I agree with one of the other reviews regarding this location. The young lady in the produce area was very rude. The bag of salad was out of date which is very surprising. I asked the stock guy if he was able to hand me an item from the bottom of his cart because I happen to not see any on display he seem as if I was bothering him. This is the best not-as-fancy-as-a-WholeFoods-or-Wegmans grocery store around and that's why this one gets 4 stars. It's better than Super Fresh and Acme. It's cleaner, bigger, has much fresher produce, and the prices are average. This place also has a good selection of organic & kosher foods to accommodate the large nearby Jewish community. This place also has self-check out registers which are great when you just want to get in & out quickly. read more

I have to say that Giant was a "giant" step down from Genuardi's. They have a much smaller selection and the food is a much lower quality. While Genuardi's offered food at many prices, Giant only tries to save you money. The people that work there are not very helpful and they took away most of the organic food. read more

This Giant is clean and there is room to move around. The food is always fresh and I love the bakery. My only complaints are that there is usually no one to assist you at the bakery and you have to find someone to package the bread for you. Also, some of the employees at the deli take too long because they are too busy talking. It has a PNC and Starbucks inside. read more

I never thought I would say this, but I miss Genaurdi's. I was never that keen on them, but now that they are gone, I wish we still had them. Don't like GIant! I find the prices very high. At checkout my bill is at least 10-20% higher than when Genaurdi's. The meat selection consists of both poor quality meat with very high prices, the produce goes bad very quickly and finally I have not been happy with the employees that I have had contact with during my few trips there. It seems that the majority of folks that worked there under Genaurdi's are no longer there and a fresh crew has been brought on board. My experience thus far is that they are not as friendly and outgoing and less eager to be helpful. I will be scoping out Acme and Super Fresh as two places to do my ongoing grocery shopping. read more

Went there yesterday for 4 different items and none of them were on the shelf. I went to Customer Service and a person accompanied me to the 4 shelves. He told me they were sold out, and I should come back tomorrow, which I just did. Items were still not there, although the price tags were. This is a regular occurrence. So many items are not on the shelves. A few times I was told that items were "downstairs" and not shelved yet. This is the only Giant where this occurs--not Plymouth Meeting nor at the Springfield store. Something is definitely wrong. Also, the cashiers are always talking to each other while ringing up items, and not focusing on their customer. Also, they are trained not to put all heavy items in one bag, but consistently do so anyway. Cashiers need to be monitored. I go here because the prices are way better than another supermarket chain close by. Not sure if it is worth it! read more

It's been all downhill since Genuardi's was purchased by Safeway (and now Giant). Most of the employees are unhelpful, surly teenagers and the freshness and quality of the produce is the worst of all the local supermarket chains. read more

I never write reviews, but I am truly disappointed in Giant and miss Genaurdis. As the last reviewer said, they hardly stock any of the items I swore by and when I ask to get help finding out if they do have things, the customer service people tell me they have no way of looking information up in the computer and i should just go in the isles and look. They didnt even offer to help me look! Other stores can at least use their technology to see if an item is carried. I have more luck finding what I need at Target. I may still stop at the starbucks, but after a few attemps (and filling out request forms) I am taking my grocery business to Wegmens. read more
