Back in the day, Aldi stores had product that was poorly merchandised and the interior of their stores reminded me of food pantries. Very uninviting, disorganized, basic and off-brand...so I avoided them except for the occasional crate of strawberries or piece of fruit - which I would quickly buy, then leave. That was about five years ago. I bought a lime one time I think, but I was building up my nerve over time in small doses lol. I started going into a few more Aldi locations consistently about two years ago after someone turned me on to those CLANCY'S chips. Couldn't believe how good they were and for such a ridiculously low price. For many years prior I was going to regular grocery stores or Walmart/Target spending $4-$6 for a "family size" bag of chips that's two-thirds air anyway. Where those KETTLE brand chips were on "sale" for $2.50 a bag. Otherwise, $5 a bag. I don't buy chips from anywhere other than Aldi now. Same chips $1 a bag, or less depending on which you buy. Although limited, their produce is suprisingly good too. And even some organic stuff if that's your thing. An Aldi cucumber - 49¢. A Safeway cucumber - $1.29 An Aldi avocado - 69¢. Safeway/Giant - $1.59 Mixed salad greens, Aldi $2.49. Safeway - $6. They even sell a smaller size where Safeway only sells the $6 plastic package. The lines are often too long; you bag your own groceries (so bring your reusable bags); no self checkout; buy your plastic bags; all maladies not uncommon to the traditional chains these days so no big deal there. Oh, and you'll pay 25¢ to rent a cart but often people are leaving as you're entering and will offer theirs. Either way, also no big deal. The chips got my attention and reaquainted me with the Aldi brand. I've migrated into the produce so who knows what's next. I'm still working my way up! Pleased to report that Aldi's has also remodeled most of their stores. The chain has grown on me and no longer makes me itch. Scoring = 4 Also, owned by the same folks that own TRADER JOE'S.

Even during busy times like during the holidays, the shelves are always full and neat. The store is always clean and well maintained. The meats and seafood are top quality, the produce is fresh, and like I mentioned, the shelves are always stocked. The staff is friendly and helpful too. This is, hands down, my favorite grocery store.

The employee called me "stupid," told me I wasn't a customer because I hadn't purchased anything, and suggested I go shop at Albert Heijn across the street. The tone was rude and unnecessarily hostile. I filed a formal complaint with Jumbo (Complaint 09355135) and attempted multiple follow‑ups over six weeks. Unfortunately, every message I sent was met with the same automated reply, and I never received a human response from customer service, corporate, or PR. Their system appears to be stuck in an automated loop that prevents complaints from being reviewed. I've since escalated the matter to the Dutch Consumer Authority (ACM). Overall, this experience left me with serious concerns about Jumbo's customer service and complaint‑handling process.

Captain White Seafood Review - 10/10…read more If fresh seafood is what you're looking for, Captain White is one of my favorite places to shop. I've been there several times, and the quality has always been consistent. It's always busy, which tells me people know they're getting fresh seafood. Even when the parking lot is packed, there's plenty of free parking, so I've never had trouble finding a space. The atmosphere is exactly what you'd expect from a seafood market. You'll smell fresh fish when you walk in, but it's not an unpleasant odor--it's simply the smell of fresh seafood. One of the things I appreciate most is the staff. They've always been friendly, patient, and helpful whenever I've needed assistance or had questions. Over the years, I've purchased crabs , oysters , black bass, whiting, trout, spot, crawfish , and shrimp . Every purchase has been fresh and delicious. Their tartar sauce is also worth picking up if you're planning a seafood dinner. Now, I'm not a crab expert, so I can't compare them to every seafood market around. I can only speak from my own experience, and the crabs I've purchased have always been good. If you're going for crabs, get there early. They sell quickly, especially during the summer months. Another reason I keep coming back is the daily specials. They often have great seasonal deals, making it a perfect time to stock up on fresh seafood. Final Rating: 10/10 Fresh seafood, helpful staff, free parking, and consistently great quality make Captain White a place I'll continue to recommend.
