for starters the pan handlers that speak bad about black people in Spanish because they won't give them a quarter is rude these guys bother the customers they dirty up the parking lot and make shopping in the Oxon hill location unpleasan...now with the store itself none of their registers are eve working and the lines will always make a 15-20 min trip into a hour just waiting to get food...and all the time whenever it's a line you just see and hear the employees talking bad about each other and the manager... read more

I'll be the first to admit that Aldi used to make me itch. Like Dollar General and Dollar Stores for the most part still do. Back in the day, Aldi stores had product that was poorly merchandised and the interior of their stores reminded me of food pantries. Very uninviting, disorganized, basic and off-brand...so I avoided them except for the occasional crate of strawberries or piece of fruit - which I would quickly buy, then leave. That was about five years ago. I bought a lime one time I think, but I was building up my nerve over time in small doses lol. I started going into a few more Aldi locations consistently about two years ago after someone turned me on to those CLANCY'S chips. Couldn't believe how good they were and for such a ridiculously low price. For many years prior I was going to regular grocery stores or Walmart/Target spending $4-$6 for a "family size" bag of chips that's two-thirds air anyway. Where those KETTLE brand chips were on "sale" for $2.50 a bag. Otherwise, $5 a bag. I don't buy chips from anywhere other than Aldi now. Same chips $1 a bag, or less depending on which you buy. Although limited, their produce is suprisingly good too. And even some organic stuff if that's your thing. An Aldi cucumber - 49¢. A Safeway cucumber - $1.29 An Aldi avocado - 69¢. Safeway/Giant - $1.59 Mixed salad greens, Aldi $2.49. Safeway - $6. They even sell a smaller size where Safeway only sells the $6 plastic package. The lines are often too long; you bag your own groceries (so bring your reusable bags); no self checkout; buy your plastic bags; all maladies not uncommon to the traditional chains these days so no big deal there. Oh, and you'll pay 25¢ to rent a cart but often people are leaving as you're entering and will offer theirs. Either way, also no big deal. The chips got my attention and reaquainted me with the Aldi brand. I've migrated into the produce so who knows what's next. I'm still working my way up! Pleased to report that Aldi's has also remodeled most of their stores. The chain has grown on me and no longer makes me itch. I love this location because they mark down items quickly and neatly. This is my go to location for a great deal.

I have never been treated so rudely in Aldi. I have always been greeted with a smile. I came in and purchase 5 items. I did not need a basket. Purchased my items moved to the side with basket to bag my items and before I could get the last item bagged the clerk took the basket and proceeded to tell other customers I was rude for using the basket. Wow!!!! I will not return to Aldi again. Lost a faithful customer. read more

I adore the Aldi brand because it saves money and there is a large variety of items. I haven't visited this location before. We stopped out of curiosity. There was an entire section by the frozen food that had a "traffic jam" due to all of the products in the middle of the aisle. It would be more convenient for customers to have a large aisle that two carts could easily pass by each other instead of cramming merchandise onto the floor and making it difficult for customers to get by each other. When I look into the frozen section, I like to pause and see what is there. When there is barely room for one shopping cart, you can't do that. The fruit and vegetable selection was decent. The "non food" row had many summer themed items, including outdoor cushions and chairs. When the lines started getting long, two additional lanes were opened. This isn't my favorite Aldi location but I would return if I were in the area. read more

Thank you very much to the security guard at this location. My battery was dead. A customer tried to help me, but could not. The security guard started my car with a jumper cable, and put some water in my battery.When he came up to us I expected some warning not to leave the car there too long. Saved my day. Friendly staff, clean store, nice variety. I was pleasantly surprised to see that have their own brand of kombucha. It was good.

I have shopped here for several years. They have reasonable deals. They have name brands and non named brand items. This place have everything that your typical grocery store will have. There are a couple downsides about here. One is you have to pay for your bags. It's .10 I believe, but hey .10 adds up, especially when you need multiple bags. You also have to bag your items yourself. I don't mind that to much, it's just as if you going to a self check out. The other downside is that you have to put a quarter in the shopping cart. But you did get the quarter back once you return the cart. However, I don't really carry cash on me; so it's kind of an inconvenience. read more

So, I was the first customer in the store. The manager was cleaning the glass doors prior to my entry. His greeting suggested that ANYTHING negative would cease at that point. The friendliness didn't stop there; each and every person (yep, security, too) was friendly, professional, and attentive. What a fantastic supermarket! Did you know that Aldi is afiliated with Trader Joe's and is their discount-brand? Many of Trader Joe's products can be found in "no-known name packaging" made for Aldi -same items as found at Trader Joes -but cheaper prices! You gotta try this place. Huge selection of gluten free items can be found at Aldi too! (if one location doesn't have a big selection try another location). Prices are much less then Giant Food or Safeway. I have found the food pricing comprable to Costco and even Walmart . You will save money not only in buying food here, but the prices are comperable to Costco and you don't have to buy huge packages, so you'll save money because you don't throw things out that go bad because you couldn't you eat it soon enough. Gluten Free Baking Mix 16oz. Is only priced at about $2.50. Be sure to try the Aldi brand "Sundae Shoppe" Vanilla Ice Cream. It's a creamy, rich & delicious -even better than Breyers or Edy's and at $1.99 for just about a 1/2 gallon, you can't beat the price! Chocolate chips are cheap and tastes exactly like Nestle's. Raisins are cheap too. Don't let the no name brand packaging scare you. Just try some items. If you don't like it you can bring it back. Keep your receipt they have a money back guarantee. Okay, so they did the remodeling and that's great. Can someone tell me why, knowing that they now open at 8:00 a.m., they wait to stock the shelves AT 8:00 a.m.? Most places stock in the middle of the night or at least before the store opens. I literally went in today and there were three people stocking. Where was the cashier? Stocking. Which meant that I had to go and look around to see who was a cashier at the time. Listen, I used to work at KMart. They had OVERNIGHT people that stocked the shelves so that, when customers come in, they are ready to serve them. If there are no customers, they tidy up little things. Yall gotta do better than this. I mean, come on. And sometime there are a LOT of people in the store by 8:30 a.m. yet their people are stocking and there is only ONE person at the cash register. My favorite location! Parking is easy to find. Store is always neat, products are readily available. I like the layout of this store, easy to navigate. They carry international products that other locations do not have. In general, I love the selection of cheeses ALDI's sell. Fruit and vegetables are fresh and they sell a vast selection of organic products. Staff is helpful and waiting times to check out are reasonable. I just wish they also sold wine at this location. read more

I have never shopped in an Aldis store that I didn't like. It's funny when my mom was alive She always told me shop at Aldi's. I just kind of put it off and didn't give it much mind. One day I needed mayonnaise, I happened to be in the area so it was pretty convenient to run in. I needed mayo, who makes mayo better than the Germans. The mayo cost 1.99 and in the competing stores mayo normally cost 3.99. As I looked around the Store, I realize that this is the same store that I shopped in when I was in Germany since then I have been a fan. My mom is now deceased, but if I could see her again, I would tell her I love her and I would also tell her she was right I should have shopped at Aldis lol. I actually went online and asked how could this store keep its prices so low, and how did they start? The story is interesting and a nice one. The owner was 88 years old and he passed away about a year ago. His brother is the owner of Trader Joe. In Germany they both started as a mom and pop store by their mom and pop lol during the war...read the story.....they save money on bags you buy them...they don't carry a lot of name brand, when their out their out! none in the back lol..they just started excepting credit cards, hence the slight rise in prices. You rent your cart for a quarter lol...therefore your car is safe from shopping cart damage, who doesn't want their quarter back lol They have fine Swiss and German Chocolate candy! Wonderful baked goods, if you shop at the ones in VA they sell very good wine!....I have been in the stores when the lines were extremely long..but they moved fast because you pack your own grocery and cashiers are really nice..Sometimes I go shopping for the church pantry and for 300.00 I had three carts of food filled top and bottom lol..the cashiers were great! If you're looking for low-price/high-quality groceries, you've come to the right place. In exchange for some minor inconveniences your reward is huge savings. It would not be a stretch to say that MY FAMILY SAVES MORE THAN A THOUSAND DOLLARS A YEAR BY SHOPPING HERE. Here's what you need to know before you go: 1) Bring a quarter. This is how you get your grocery cart out. Your quarter will be returned to you when you return your cart. 2) You will bag your own groceries. You can purchase grocery bags there or you can just bring your own and add it to your savings. 3) Most every item, save a few specialty buys, is from one Aldi house brand or another. 4) The quality of Aldi house brand items is much better than your run-of-the-mill grocery store house brand. It is comperable with the quality of national brands. You might compare it to Kirkland, which is Costco's house brand, and is usually of superior quality. 5) Aldi has some staples (milk, eggs, butter, bread, canned items, etc.) and then rotates some items in and out. You will always be able to find the basics but may not find more obscure items there every time. We often supplement our Aldi shopping with trips to the nieghborhood grocery store a couple time a month to cover for these items. 6) Aldi sells seasonal durable goods at a fraction of the cost you would find elsewhere. Pick up the weekly flyer while your there so you know what is coming up. These goods often sell out so come early if you spot something you really want. We recently bought a Charbroil grill there that was 20% cheaper than you could find it at Wal-Mart and this is hardly the best buy we've ever found. I'm knocking off a star for this specific location because the neighborhood is a little sketchy and the store is sometimes in disarray. I don't mind too much, though, because ultimately I can see those savings going into my pocket. read more

My second trip here near my parents house. Mom told me about their prices and Chocolate chip brioche. Brioche in the hood? Believe it or not it's from France and it does taste good! Their selection is bare bones. Like only one producer of their organic milk. So they have Fat free, 2% and whole milk. And so they only take 3 spots on the shelves and no other. Therefore there is no dazzling array of choices or prices to compare. But then the price is so good and I don't need to look beyond a label that is organic. Organic milk for less than $3.00 is unheard of unless it's on sale. The cashiers are fast (because they don't bag your items) and pleasant. Cash and debit only. No credit cards. I took away a star because they are a little disorganized. By the way, I heard Aldi is a discounted European store chain so you can find great prices on imported chocolates here. read more

I do love me some Aldi. All I need are basic items for my dining pleasure. I don't need fancy name brands and love saving money cause I'm frugal like that. This place has the best prices on food and dairy - a gallon of milk is only $2.79 - that's crazy talk! This is a European grocery chain and as such, it is reflected in how they stock their food - less items to choose from, smaller brands (mostly house), all stock is on the floor, and produce packaged to last just a couple of days. What I really like is that they have really awesome German items all year long, and the Christmas selection of them is really awesome. You do have to bring your own bags or pay 6 cents for a bag (like the old Shoppers), and you have to bag your own items plus they only take cash or debit. For me, that's not a bad thing. I like packaging things up the most resourceful way and I have a debit card so it's all good. Give this place a try - you will be quite pleasantly surprised! Oh - and bring a quarter for the grocery cart - you make a deposit to get one and then when you return it your quarter is returned too. read more
