Used to go to the Amazon fresh on crystal drive in crystal city before they closed and opened this location. We usually go towards the end of the week but before the weekend to avoid the crowds. There's always loading in the aisles. Not sure why they don't reserve that toward the evening time so that shoppers, especially with the Dash Carts can navigate around the aisles better. There are also a few items that are out of stock nowadays... increasingly so. Their pizza is a great way to end the shopping trip with a little dinner quickly at a very good price for custom pizza with 4 toppings. I really hope this place stays open. The place always has good deals that even Walmart can't beat. It has everything I need for food without being overwhelmed, compared to large grocery chains. I was surprised to see warm food to go for a store this small, but it has a lot of the usual American takeout foods. The pizza here is a steal at $1.98! The smart carts the Amazon integration makes shopping quick and easy, just scanning as I go and walk out with my cart without having to go through the cashier. Amazon Fresh is located in a strip mall in Potomac Yards. Target is one of the oldest stores in the area (opposite end of the parking lot) Shopper's Food Warehouse (RIP) was around for a long time. There are several restaurants and other retail stores & businesses nearby (Marshall's, Navy Federal Credit Union, Petsmart). The theater used to be an incentive for visits. So many great businesses are closed. Having Amazon Fresh means a connection to Whole Foods and a location to return Amazon packages. If you have more money than time, this is a convenient spot to place online orders and pick them up. The smart shopping carts allow customers to scan items while they shop and save time at the self check out kiosks. The produce items are quality and varied. Prices reflect the quality. This store would not be my "go to" place but I would pick up some items while running errands in the area. The grab and go salads are convenient and higher priced than Harris Teeter, Aldi & Lidl. The hot bar was hit or miss. The baked pizza items are drastically different from most Whole Foods locations. I would avoid them (The Charlottesville location sets the bar high). The cleaning & laundry supplies (and many items) are priced higher than most stores. If you live nearby and can't get anywhere else, this location has the basics. The best value for money is the Amazon branded items. There is a small dining area. The condiments are great. If you buy a salad, the packets of dressing are convenient. Wow! Is all I got to say about this location because this place was a mess! The veggie and fruit section was bare to the bones! It seemed as if there was a snow storm a coming because there wasn't much to choose from so I had to leave. Very competitive prices. Way better than the Harris Teeter and Giant down the street. Self checkout is super easy. Parking is easy. Great selection of produce. The store is relatively new and they've kept it nicely organized and clean. They are very generous with the weekly ad coupons and also the $10 off $40 when you do a drop off return from Amazon. Love the little events they do around the holidays like the most recent Easter event. I wish they had more stores in the DMV because Amazon Fresh is amazing!!! read more

This store has by far the worst customer service of any place I have ever been. I just placed a pick up order for a handful of items. My baby daughter was in the car and has the full-blown flu, which is why I needed the items urgently. I indicated on the app that I was at the store parking lot and shortly thereafter received a message saying that the associate couldn't find me. I was literally in the first space outside of the pick up door. You could see my car outside the window. I attempted to indicate I was there again because I was very clearly in one of the waiting pick up spots but It then reset and wouldn't let me pick up the order. I picked up my feverish baby and brought her into the store. When I confronted the store associate in customer service she looked at me, rolled her eyes and said "this isn't my problem.". I was blown away by how incredibly rude the associate was to a parent holding a clearly horribly sick child. Another person walked into the store with me and had just experienced the exact same thing. They were in their spot directly outside the pick up door and nobody even bothered to bring their groceries out. The manager then came and attempted to show me how the app just wasn't working right and I told her then they should've called me, but nobody did. They simply looked outside, saw it was cold out and didn't feel like walking the groceries out and forced me and an incredibly sick child to expose probably dozens of people to flu A and B. And at no point did anyone apologize or do anything to help besides tell me that none of this was their issue and in fact as the associate told me "it wasn't their problem.". The woman working customer service today ought to be fired. I will never shop here again, and I would recommend everybody stay away because the associates and managers are horrible, who won't even do their job and bring a pickup order out to somebody's waiting car because it's cold out. read more

This place may very well be my new, favorite grocery store! Great selection and prices. Excellent customer service too. Grand-opening day and I had a chance to be a guest shopper as part of an invitation-only event. The shopping experience was exceptional to say the least. The store is huge, well stocked with a large selection of produce, consumer goods, great finds and sale items. They also carry a lot of items that you would find in your local Whole Foods store as well which is an added plus there! No need to make an extra run to Whole Foods for particular items. The shopping experience overall was one of ease. Not to mention, you have the option to shop without being a prime member but of course, the incentive and perk of patrioting an Amazon Fresh store is to shop here as an Amazon prime member to take advantage of additional discounts and savings overall. This incentive entices others in the store who are not Amazon prime members to become one to take advantage of discounted-special deals in the store. The auto shopping cart feature is great added addition to your shopping experience and technology move as well. Upon entering the store, you sign into your Amazon prime account on the shopping cart and from there all your items are scanned via the card for an easy check out. The shopping cart serves as a both a scanner and scale as well. Just "dump and go"....no pun intended. Lol. All items in your cart are tallied and total for your order and charged to your credit card on yoiur Amazon account. This makes for an easy checkout, once you're finished shopping. Overall, I really enjoyed the experience of shopping here today. The customer service was great and there were lots of employee-staff members walking the floor to assist if you ran into any issues or had questions. I actually left out of there with a decent amount of grocery and food items for the week.... something rare in this age of inflation. And, all under $60 bucks at that! The store continues to absurdly fail at its core function - being a grocery store. No carts, no bags, empty shelves. One hundred employees going around pulling items for online orders. It's more of a distribution center than a public facing grocery store. It's clear the online orders are overwhelming for the staff and cause them to be absurdly behind on everything else. read more

Good prices and selection but they never have available grocery carts on weekends. The corrals are overflowing in the parking lots and absolutely no employees are bringing them back. Kind of hard to do your grocery shopping without a cart. Needs to be addressed by management. read more

This was the first time I visited to return a package. Our customer service experience was the worst I have ever witnessed. I have NEVER asked to speak to a manager at a store because I've been a retail worker myself. I know it is full of stress. Our Amazon Fresh customer service employee was aggressive and impatient. She was rude and sarcastic after I expressed patience simply asking how to work a machine with my senior mom. When I asked if there was a manager in store, she said "no". Then I said "no worries... can I please have your name?". The young lady raised her voice and physically looked very upset, saying "Do we have a problem here?" She refused to share manager info or her name. I walked away because I refuse to argue or cause a scene. I visited a cashier and asked to speak to a manager and spoke to one. The manager apologized and then stated he would speak to the dept. manager. I have never experienced such as an aggressive, unpleasant experience. read more

Why does this Amazon fresh have bad reviews? Have people not been to the one in Kingstowne?! I was in shock going into this location, expecting it to be what I'm used to in Kingstowne. This location is bigger, has way more selection (the spices may be the biggest I've seen just about anywhere) I see people are complaining about fresh items like meat or vegetables. I came here today for the Holiday Palooza, which involved free photography with Kris Kringle, cookie decorating, a free hot chocolate bar (no alcohol spikes), and sampling of charcuterie. I saw a couple of yellow bins on the edge of the aisles that were labeled "last call". There were markdowns on seasonal cookies, lotion, gravy, velveeta pasta, and cake frosting among other items. The items clearly had green stickers showing the updated discounted price, so why would the cashier not override the price on the register even after I pointed this out to him? read more

Great products and prices; however, there have been several times that I had to wait over 20 minutes for my pick up order even after early check in. On some occasion, I had to leave and return to pick up later because I had waited over 20 minutes. The app does not let you cancel the check-in. My order has been check picked up although, there was no confirmed picked up. I have had to call Amazon to either cancel the order and request a refund or simply get a solution. This has not happened just once. On another occasion, my order was given to someone else. The manager came to assist and he pretty much said "go grab your items" or "call Amazon to give you a refund". This was the most useless manager I have ever encounter. read more

I visited this store recently and I'm torn giving a rating of 3 stars. I love Amazon and Amazon fresh since the beginning, so I was looking forward to visiting this store. My experience doesn't seem to be a one-off. This store does not have a lot of traffic during normal busy times. Here are some possible reasons. The store has an odd/bad/weird feeling - it might be the sterile lighting, odd smell towards the back of the store and by the prepared food section, or something else. Halloween is coming up - a séance might help to get that bad energy out. The store is clean and organized but the prices and product offering are not special or different from nearby grocery stores. There is a small tiny area for Amazon fresh brand; I didn't see the Whole Foods brands like other reviewers noted. Quite frankly, a Whole Foods would have been better in this location. Amazon Fresh should try offering 365 brand items in this store to differentiate itself from surrounding food stores. I'm writing this review because I don't want to see Amazon fail in this location. It just needs a new marketing strategy. Re-analyze the area and the customer profiles, and study the art of grocery stores. Theres a reason why Whole Foods, Wegmans, and Publix are successful - lots of science goes into a good grocery store. This store is in a good location and Amazon brand is well known - this store has the chance to be successful. read more

Great hot bar! I come in for lunch BTW 130p to 200p the food is usually dead but since they use fresh ingredients it's always something salvageable . Customer service was fantastic from the guy moving the carts who told me what to eat at the hot bar to the clerk who scanned my membership, which I never thought of and got a great discount. I absolutely love Amazon fresh. This store and the one in Springfield are my go to's. The staff is helpful and pleasant. I just love shopping with the cart and auto pay with my Amazon account. They have a lot of items that are prices competitively. It is quiet and if you like your peace, this is the place. They usually have coupons and if you choose Amazon Returns for your Amazon returns, Amazon usually offers an Amazon fresh discount. I really like the Happy Belly (Amazon house brand) items. They are lower than even aldi and lidl. The happy belly peanut butter cookie's taste exactly like Girl Scout dosido's and there is no judgement if you buy 4 of them and bagged salad. Why? Checkout is automatic with the Amazon Cart and your card linked. Yay! read more

If you are looking for a store that has almost everything- except an app that tells you which aisle to go to & someone to check you out - this is the store for you. Awful experience - tried to engage 3 people to help me with their app - each said - not sure how to do that. Then when i just wandered around & picked up what i needed. I asked if someone could check me out. The answer was no - unless i used cash. I struggled with the self check out - sorry i do not have advanced check out skills. After a third time asking for help - i decided to dump my order out of my bags & leave. Frustration beyond belief- watching one person on their phone & another sitting on security watch at self checkout. I was very impressed with the layout of the store and our cashier couldn't have been more efficient. My only concern for some is the way the pricing is listed. You might think you're paying $5.99 for a container of grapes and they're actually $5.99 per pound. The unit price can be tricky so buyer beware. When you call, you cannot speak with the store directly, you have to utilize Amazon Customer Service for all inquiries. the customer service reps have no idea how to assist with grocery issues, but after 3 transfers and one disconnected call, I spoke with a rep who was able to assist me. (Khyme for president!) 2. Anticipate substitutes or out of stock items on every grocery order, big or small. 3. There's a high probability your order will be missing an item (unsure HOW since the store shoppers have to scan items?) 4. Check your trunk before leaving the store... I know it defeats the purpose of grocery pickup convenience, but my order today was missing #32 items. Yes, 32 of the 56. I will never get back the 40 minute phone call to go through each missing item with customer service. Again I don't know how, since I'm pretty sure the associate MUST scan the barcodes on each bag. 5. If you're shopping in store, they don't accept tap to pay (don't forget your physical card, no Apple Pay here). 6. The overall impression of the associates are tired and apathetic.
