Consistently expensive. Wegmans is usually cheaper (unless shopping for bougie items). The only reason I go here is the convenience. It's consistently overpriced for what it is and you would do better at Lidl or Aldi (given the quality). I really wish Harris teeter or Publix would just buy these guys out and do all us nova residents a favor by providing a decent grocery store for this area. read more

The Customer Service representatives are really nice here. If they can help you find what you are looking for, then they do so with a positive attitude. I've had to return a bad package of lamb before and the CSR told me that it was that shipment. She let me choose another product to replace it and gave a few dollars of store credit for the inconvenience, which I didn't even ask for. I had a similar experience with spoiled chicken one time, so It does happen here. Just keep your receipt and they will make it right for you. I've had to get medicine three minutes before they close at 11pm, and the store manager walked me to each product and did not rush me. Their organic products under their store brand are of great quality, and they sell green tomatillo sauce that's made in Mexico. They usually have stocked shelves. I would love to see more Kosher and organic foods, especially beef, steaks, fish, challah bread, and produce. Their seafood is more reasonably priced than most other competitors and is fresh. Note: their prices are on the higher side for some items such as wine, ice cream, and packaged foods. They do charge for bags, so bring your own reusable ones. You definitely want to use your Bonus discount card. The atmosphere is usually chilled and the area feels safe although one hears of crime activity in the area within a mile of the store. I was happy to learn that Giant financially supports Holiday Wreaths at Arlington Cemetery for our fallen veterans every year, so I try to buy their store brand whenever I can. The cashiers are efficient, good natured, and considerate. Overall, I would recommend this store if savings isn't your top priority, but you want quality. read more

Came here with someone to accompany them while they got their booster shot. We walked to the pharmacy counter to ask if they take walk-ins. They accepted us without an appointment and just had us fill out some paperwork while we waited. We sat in the back and waited longer than I had hoped since we were the only ones there for a while but it didn't take too long. The waiting area was a little cramped when others came in, they only had four chairs in a narrow hallway behind the pharmacy counter so it felt very crowded when a third or fourth person was waiting as well so four stars for that. The pharmacists there seemed busy so the wait was understandable. They kept it professional and didn't waste any time which I appreciated when it was our turn and we were out fairly quickly after we got what we came for. read more

Great products for a decent price. The service can be pretty terrible. There's one cashier in particular who keeps profiling me, and one time came and stood directly behind me and was watching what I was doing. I turned around and asked if she needed something or if I could help her with something, and she muttered something barely discernible back. Today, the same cashier came and stood across from me while I was checking out and was watching what I was doing. When I was leaving, I looked at her and she just stood there with her arms folded and looked down at my groceries (no "Have a good day" or anything). I'm not sure why that person thinks profiling is ok but they really shouldn't have a job there. I'm a regular also so that behavior is really ridiculous. read more

I've shopped here my whole life and never will again. Staff is lovely, if unhelpful when it comes to Mobile Scanning, but the shelves are consistently empty and in-person shoppers seem to be second class to the online orders now. To all the Supermarkets (G$$$t) and big commercial stores that operate 'Self Check-outs'....... You are heading towards almost exclusively self-checkout now. Yesterday I went shopping at one such store and the lady checking receipts at the exit was stopping everyone. I didn't choose to participate in that nonsense, I had already filled my cart, emptied my cart and scanned the items, refilled my cart and so I just skipped the exit line and left. I heard her saying "Umm - Excuse me " as I kept walking and raised the receipt above my head, leaving the store. You can either trust me to do self-checkout, or you can put your cashiers back in place like it used to be. * I'm not interested in proving that I did your job for you. * If you want me to be a cashier with no training then that's your problem not mine. * Keep employing young people and give them job opportunities. I also found very fresh salmon at the seafood section and bought a little over a pound for less than $8! The lady working there did a wonderful job scaling the fish for me. This place always has what I need. The selection in the organic section is a good size and has lots of products I like to purchase. The only downside is that it's always busy and full in the afternoon and weekends. When there's a snow forecast, it's a guarantee food will run out so arrive as early as possible. They are open until 12 which is convenient for those who live nearby. Customer service is great! read more

I am not terribly old but I do remember when Giant was an American owned company, and their standards were so much higher than today. This store in particular seemed to shine above the rest even though the new foreign ownership seemed to lower the standards of ALL Giant Food Stores everywhere. That is no longer the case. This store has joined the others as a substandard retail market whose food quality is somewhat lower than WalMart and prices are significantly higher. Worst of all, the employees who once made Giant a quality store are all gone, and now the management and employees are at a level where incompetence is acceptable and they simply do not care. This goes for the entire store but especially the pharmacy, which recently instructed me to return the following day by 4:45 to receive the needed vaccine, but then when I arrived at 4:30 was told by the millennial in charge that they had decide to close the pharmacy at 4 PM, leaving me with 2 trips and no vaccination. I will not accept this blatant incompetence any longer and neither should you. Happy New Year! read more

The best thing about Giant in Clifton is the flower shop. Top notch! They have a great selection and the flower arrangement prices are awesome! Their head florist is really friendly and always there to help. This is my go to place for floral arrangements - they even did flowers for my wedding! I've been to other Giants and their flower shops aren't as good so make sure you go to the Clifton store. read more

This Giant I have been going to for years. It has gone way downhill. The last 3 times I have been, the store is in disarray, appears dirty, and the staff have not been courteous (some very rude). The baggers have been terrible (bagging not using any sense - not double bagging heavy items. Putting heavy items on top of bread and perishables). Today several bottles of Kraft mayonnaise on the shelves were expired by seven months. Totally unacceptable. Bad mayonnaise can really sicken if not kill people. I could not believe that. The dates clearly said March 2018. It is October 2018. I'm sure glad I looked at the expiration dates. The shelves were barely stocked today (almost no beer on Monday at 6 pm - really? That's bad - attaching picture to show you. This used to be my favorite grocery store. Now I need to find another store. This is crazy. And the cashier today said he was tired from too many hours and people calling out. I didn't ask him. That was his greeting to me and all that was said to me when I checked out today. This has been my primary grocery store since 2010. I feel like the quality has gone down significantly in the past year or so. I've reached the point where I think I'm going to have to stop buying produce here. I already stopped buying chicken a couple years ago because I got two packages within a month that were both bad. There are never enough open registers when it is crowded. Everyone is pretty friendly, but the bagging leaves a lot to be desired. And the checkouts are typically very slow. On the plus side, they have a deli kiosk, which is fantastic. I can make my deli order and keep shopping, instead of standing around at the counter. The kiosk breaks from time to time, but lately it has been pretty reliable. My experiences with the pharmacy have been pretty good, too. Let's be honest, I'm not going to stop shopping here. It is just too convenient, and it is still the best grocery store in the Centreville/Clifton area (low bar). But I really do think I'm going to stop buying their produce, because it is generally just awful. read more

i'm not really one to review places as mundane and constant as chains are, but this small giant has one HUGE flaw, and her name is Nicole. she's not hard to find. the first time we tried to purchase wine from this giant, we decided to use self checkout, as we normally do. the number sign above the aisle starts blinking, and we are the last to be attended to by Nicole. it appears she likes to assist her customers in racial order. we are both Asian, and both have proper forms of identification. there are several ethnic couples who were the last to be helped. when she does finally get to our aisle to swipe the "over 21" card so we can pay by credit and get out of there, another problem arises. "you smell like alcohol. i am not legally allowed to sell you alcohol if you smell like it." keep in mind, we were in no way being belligerent nor acting drunk in public. we each had one glass of wine before deciding it was time to grab another bottle. I wish I were joking, but unfortunately I'm not. giant needs to do a better job of hiring employees who are there to assist customers, and not there to harass/ignore them. the next time we visited the same giant, she was there, and all the circumstances were the same as the last, except neither of us smelled like alcohol. she stopped for a bit to chat with a woman who was directly ahead of us in line, but made eye contact with us and ran off; muttering something about how she needed to do her makeup with a girl friend there. so she left me standing there for so long, that an off duty employee was forced to help me out. read more

You all can remodel to your hearts' content. I only shop here when I need fill in food. I came in for produce items, hamburger meat, and dairy. Your produce is the worst. I needed red & green pepper, red onion, and ice burg lettuce. Three out of four displays of the aforementioned items were rife with soft-skins, obvious rot spots--in a word, OLD. I chose the best of what I found (had to throw away 1/3 to 1/2 of each pepper when I got home). Then I went to checkout, greeting the checker, who was standing there with no customers. He DID NOT acknowledge my greeting, said NOTHING to me as he scanned my items. He opened his mouth once to tell my total, handed me my receipt, and let me leave WITHOUT A THANK YOU OR GOODBYE HAVE A NICE DAY. Unacceptable. THIS is why, though your store is within 1/2 mi of my home, I drive to Wegman's for my groceries, and will now go do EVEN for small pick-ups. read more

I have never been treated so rudely by store employees in my 17 years shopping at the Giant Supermarket. Everyone is usually nice and helpful. Today, the office person on duty was so rude and uncaring. I was using the self checkout register and I had items where the sales price didn't register correctly. To be specific, it was Eurcerin lotion, which didn't ring up correctly. I also had 2 tooth brushes, also on sale that didn't ring up correctly. This is not my problem because it happens. I hit the "need help'' button and the the office person came over is a distressed fashion and started asking me what price should the items be. I explained to her(someone with the name tag that started with a "K") that I didn't know the exact price, but I could show her where the items were to get the correct price. I said this twice. She became increasing annoyed at me because I couldn't tell her what the exact sales price was. She began looking at some phone thing for the price(I'm guessing). I'm not sure what she was doing. She then said "if you don't know the price then I can't help you, I have other customers waiting". I then said, I want to speak to a manager, then she turned her back on me and walked away. She was an African-American young women with a long terrible brown wig for hair. I then looked for a manager and asked a cashier named Rob was there a manager on staff. He then pointed to this young woman again and she walked pass me as if I didn't matter. I asked both of them, I'm I a customer too. The male cashier named Rob looked away and said to me "Giant.com". I had to leave my groceries on self-check register number one and no one helped me so I left the store. Check your logs, there is a void on that register that happened around 9:15pm on 8/4 and it was done by an employee on staff. The items were 2 tooth brushes, Eucerin lotion, 2 bags of chips and Arnica Gel. This young lady was ready to give me any sale price I could come up with just so dealing with a common issue could be done. It's a shame that these 2 employees didn't have the foresight or professionalism to fix this problem or at minimum ask me to wait or hold-on a sec and we can help you. It is not my fault the store was short staffed or the price did not ring up correctly. I didn't realize the store was improperly managed until your giant employees made it very apparent to me and other customers. I don't manage a Giant Supermarket, but I do know problems of the store or organization should not be known by the customers. This was the perfect time for an employee to show some leadership and management skills and handle the issue, but I guess the "A" team was off today. I'm not sure what the problem was, but there was problem in this store today. How can a store employ a person that has such little regard for a honest, loyal, longtime customer. or a customer period. I'm reading all this information about quality and Giant Supermarket standards. It's all a deception if Giant ignores any customers dissatisfaction with service from a employee, no manner the store problem. I don't stand for bad or rude customer service in my workplace and I don't expect to be treated with such disregard. Giant is in the business of selling customers food at a stated price and I guess since this young lady was having a bad day, I have to take the wrong price that rung up or maybe be dishonest and receive a deeper discount that she was perfectly willing to give me. or maybe I should have taken notice that she was having a bad day and not bothered her at her WORKPLACE or MAYBE I'm wrong for thinking she is EMPLOYED TO SERVE CUSTOMERS AND LEAVE HER TERRIBLE ATTITUDE AT THE DOOR. This is my regular store and I like it the best of the area stores. Shelves are always stocked, lines usually move quickly, etc. Great selection of gluten free food and produce/meats are always good. My experience at the pharmacy yesterday was ridiculous though. I went to my doctor for an 11:45 appointment. I had the flu and bronchitis had set in. My doctor electronically sent over 3 prescriptions at noon when I left her office in Fairfax. I arrived at Giant about 12:15 and went directly to the pharmacy to make sure they filled them right away, as sometimes when they come in electronically the pharmacy sets it aside until I come into ask for it. They said they didn't have them. I called my doctor's office. All 3 had gone through at noon. I went back to the pharmacy. The guy said they had it and it would be 15 minutes. I picked up a few other things and went back to wait for my number to be called. It never was. 35 minutes later I asked if it was ready. He gave me one prescription. I asked where the other 2 were. I was told "oh well sometimes they take a few hours to come in" They managed to find my antibiotics prescription then and filled that one. Still didn't "get" the third. I took my 2 prescriptions and left. I spent an hour in total, while ill, because electronic prescriptions take several hours? It seems the point of electronic prescription is that they are, well, pretty much instant. I don't particularly buy that they take several hours... Anyway, I'll never let my doctor send them an electronic prescription again as there is either a problem with the system or the person who was checking it. They called me later to tell me the third prescription "showed up" and my husband picked it up on his way home from work. It was an inhaler - I needed it to help me breathe. So the several extra hours waiting were delightful. read more

This Giant is my FAVORITE store. It's like the Cheers Bar of supermarkets. Everybody knows your name . :-) The staff is so amazingly friendly and helpful from Jerry, Nip, Dottie and Ms. Pam at the deli counter to the super nice man in produce with the mustache whose name I don't know who smiles and says hello and asks if he can help me with anything, every single time I am there, to the bakery manager (Lam??), to the cashiers (Jagdesh is my favorite) to the super AWESOME customer service/management staff (NICHOLE!!!!, Todd and Felicia just to name a few) and last but not least Milton who helps to bag my groceries and always welcomes me with a smile. The shelves are always stocked in the store is always clean. They have a huge selection of organic and health food items as well. I can't say enough good things about this store. read more

No papers thrown about the place no cleaning supplies on the changing table. It looks like a bathroom that has been well taken care of instead of the frat house it once looked like. Newly installed IBM POS terminals (cash registers) are killing Giant. Customer will leave. Low end old hardware and garbage software have created long lines and frustrated patrons. This store is close and convenient, but NO MORE. Off to Wegmans and H Mart. I hope that Giant figures this out. Also : Attention Giant Corporate Executives - OMG - Update your website. It is so dated, old school, poorly done, bad graphics and no where can you send Kudos or comments to managers or workers in the store. Giant... Get with the program! I had a great experience with Giant's meat department recently and wanted to share. There was a helpful gentleman (could have been the manager of the department) that gave me great advice on how much meat I would need for our Christmas gathering and proceeded to give me a great recipe for preparation. When I expressed concern about the cost he showed me that with my bonus card the price would be reduced by $30. The lady behind the counter was also very pleasant and helpful. read more

I have lived next to this Giant for 15 years, it used to be my primary shopping store. Over the years I have bought organic chicken from there and within two days it was spoiled; it was a hard lesson to learn and costly (before I stopped buying it). Great produce but the whole store is very very pricey. I primarily shop now at Wegs the price difference is significant lower and the selection of fish and organic meats is vast in comparison and the product has realistic shelf life. Great associates at the store but they are sneaky with the high pricing. Two weeks ago 12oz Starbucks $7.20, today it was over $9.00! The new look is nice but would prefer rational pricing. read more

Thank you to "My" for a consistently outstanding job running the Florist Section of the store. My has gone above and beyond to help me to get flowers or balloons for all occasions: birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, graduations, etc. Constantly cheerful and able to quickly put together very special combinations, she helps a novice like me mark special events in a very special way. I have gone there off and on and I feel the store manager is not very helpful to customers. I have talked with the manager several times asking her why she doesn't get enough clerks on the check out line and also the small carts for outside access. It is very annoying. I stop going there since I don't feel they really care. I go to Wegman's instead since they care about the customers and have more stuff. read more
