I get most of my groceries here, since it's so affordable and they have new items come in regularly. I forgot my quarter for the cart once, and the cashier was happy to let me borrow one. :) I like that in Virginia, they have really cheap wine right near the front. I use their white wine to cook chicken, pasta, soup, everything and it's only $3.99. I would avoid shopping on the weekends though, as they can be out of stock for a lot of items. I've been to this Fair Lakes on a number of occasions; and its not a bad place to grab things you need without having to deal with the crowds at bigger chains like Costco and Whole Foods. They are usually well stocked and you can't beat the prices on household items. I took off one star for their check out process. Usuaully there is only one lane open and depending on the time you go; the line can stretch all the way down the aisle. TIP: bring a quarter to use their shopping carts and your own reusable grocery bags. read more

Went in here again to save money, and the line didn't fail to amaze me. All the way down the aisle. I get that only a few employees, ultimately does cut costs a good bit. Yet I do wonder after completing a Shakespeare book, is it worth the price of admission? To this stores credit, I've done well here on Greek yogurts, apples, oranges, and cheese products. They are considerably less than mainstream grocery stores. Yet you will wait for it. Patience is a virtue. To its credit a very clean store. Also it is well organized. I like the whole pallet set up, and only having a brand or two to choose from. As a single dad, this does help as what's left of my mind is frazzled. I also am grateful for their deals on beef and chicken. As for stores in the area, I usually find the Fairfax City one easier to get out of. Well I was in need of groceries.... So, made the stop ...soo much better this time....produce was fully packed ...plus the prices are incredible, so much less. Nice bread selection this time. Snacks, chips and cookies not brand names not bad tasting either. Definitely worth trying.... They have a few cookies here that I'm always on the lookout for. Theres a chocolate thin mint cookie, Taste just like girl scouts sell, but for much, much less. I put them in freezer like I did growing up! There's also peanut butter cookie Tastes pretty darn close to the tastykakes version, and again no where near the cost. The shelves were packed too. Canned goods, salad dressings, even the cereals priced fairly. You can find boneless chicken breast here for 1.89...ground beef 2.89 very good prices these days. The prices are so attractive here. I like to stop at Aldi's before going elsewhere. Why spend more if its not necessary?? ( I was a big Costco fan too, no need to hold stock on everything these days, no need to buy everything at once anymore and certainly no need to pay more then needed, especially if your getting what you need and want and enjoy !!! read more

This was my first trip to a grocery store since I moved here last week. The cashier was rude, the floor was unclean, and there was a surprisingly small amount of product. My experience at Aldi's is usually great. Today I went and I checked out with Jennifer. I had my baby and my toddler sitting in the front of the cart as always. I would think it would be polite to wait for a mom with her two kids to finish unloading her cart to then start scanning. But no, Jen acted like it was a race and started scanning quickly. Making me feel like I had to rush and dumping the food on the conveyer so she could reload the stuff in the same cart. I went ahead and gave her my cart. Then she proceeded to look at me like I was crazy and say "we're switching carts!!".I didn't escalate, but man it took a lot for me not to say something back to her. She has a bad attitude, and not just today but every time I see her in the store. Smh Avoiding her from now on!!! Although I am a rookie customer of Aldi, I think Aldi can be one of my favorite grocery stores in the area along with Wegman's, Whole Foods, Giant, Trader Joe's, H-Mart and Lotte. So far I bought, tasted and loved the following: - Organic Mixed Greens - Organic Garlic Hummus - Whole Wheat Pita - Organic strawberries - Organic blue berries - Made-in-Germany sauerkraut - Made-in-Germany Bavarian Bratwurst - Atlantic salmon, fresh never frozen - Jalapeño potato chips Aldi seems like they have quality food at reasonable prices. I was especially surprised by the fresh quality of the salmon at the price. I was also happy to be able to have made-in-Germany sauerkraut and sausages at really reasonable prices. Thanks to Lesley H's tip in her review, I brought my quarter and bags to avoid any inconvenience. I visited Aldi at fair lakes, Fairfax last evening around 7:45 just to but some apples. I changed my mind and decided to buy 5 bags of apples and some 4 bags of oranges for our festivals. I didn't bring shopping carts with me because I had not planned to purchase that many items. suddenly I saw an empty and unattended shopping cart near cash register. I decided to use that cart to carry my stuffs up to cash register and go and grab shopping bags from my car. One employee (may be supervisor/manager ?) was refilling and organizing shelves, saw and warned me NOT TO DO THAT. I was trying to explain him - cart will be used just to carry my stuffs upto register because it was almost 9 bags and the cart was empty, unattended. He was soooo rude, unprofessional with full of attitude. He not only started yelling on me but also warned. Then I decided not to buy anything and left the store. You can see store camera. This was my regular shopping place. I used to be a loyal customer. But now onward I won't go to see his face anymore in that store. He looked inappropriate for the customer service / business like Aldi. I hope Store Manager (GM), DM or Corporate will take necessary action on him and maintain the reputation of Aldi on the days to come. read more

I loved how clean, organized, and pleasant to shop at this particular Aldi. Parking was easy and there was sanitation station right by the shopping cart area. All the produce were well stocked and fresh. I was blown away by the excellent selection of cheese and what a great deal I found for well marbled Norwegian salmons, sliced pork perfect to make my own chashu and katsu-don. $4.99/lb for a bag of jumbo shrimp? Yes was just so thrilled! And you know what? I was also super happy there wasn't a line outside for me to wait on this sunny but blustery day and how spacious and clean the store itself was. It was nothing like the narrow and tiny Aldi found in Rockville with wilting scallions and freezer burnt bags of spinach. By the time I was at the checkout line, there was only one cashier available but he was so amazing. I hardly waited at all with 3 customers ahead of me with cart full of items. By the time it was my turn to get rung up, I realized I left my wallet in the car so I let him know I'll be right back. Well, by the time I returned with my wallet, he had already rung up everything and had the items set aside neatly in the box and he let me skip the line for payment! I WAS BLOWN AWAY by the helpfulness of the cashier. I've become so accustomed to the shabby Maryland Aldi's with equally shabby--ehhh more like brusque and unfriendly customer "service". I'm so glad I visited this particular Aldi and definitely will return in the future. I can most certainly understand why this Aldi has such great ratings on Yelp and I'm also a believer too now! I love everything about Aldi and I am leaving this review to grab the attention of upper management. I have been this location several times and every single time, the cashier, Kendra is absolutely rude to every single person. I have women crying outside where they put the carts up because of her. She is incredibly rude, throws your stuff and tells you to hurry up. I asked her not to speak to me like such and to please be nice and she told me I could go to another Aldi If I didn't like it. She threw the next persons items on top of mine like she is in a rush every single time. She threw a woman's pizza in the cart and it fell out of the box. If you get there at 745 she will tell you that you only have enough time for a few items when you walk in. I also had her scan items twice bc she does things so quick she doesn't even care. It's so bad that I cannot shop at this location anymore. Her attitude needs an adjustment and you will certainly lose business because of her. It's customer service and she is not a general in the military. She yells at customers and it doesn't matter who you are. If she is the manager I truly feel sorry for any employee there. read more

I usually shop at a Giant that is closer to where I live, but after shopping at this Aldi, it's so worth it to drive a little farther for their great prices! I will definitely be coming back! I came in here on a whim to get a few things, and ended up grabbing a cart (make sure you have a quarter!) since there were so many great deals! I left with what would have been over $100 worth of groceries at Giant, and only paid $65 here at Aldi! Definitely impressed!! One of their best sections I thought is the meat and cheese...they have a great selection of products and the prices are half of what you would normally see at another store! Located close to the recently closed Toys R' Us so parking is easy (for now); bring a quarter for cart deposit, bags for groceries and patience for the checkout. Cost savings alone is worth the planning! I just love this store! Every time I am there, the produce and meats are fresh. A few things to do before you arrive. Bring your own bags, bring a quarter for the cart and lower your expectations for selection and no coupons. The company has a very good business plan. The folks that check you out at the register also restock and keep the store clean. Prices are so low. Some of the selection (cheese for example) are numerous while others are not. Just go with the flow :) In addition to groceries, the also have a great selection of home goods, like sheets, garden items, auto supplies that do not last long and change weekly. When they are gone... they are gone.. Wine and beer selection is very good too. I'm there a few times per week and will keep going back. read more

Oh how I love thee! I just moved nearby and was so glad to see the brand opening sign! It is just like any other Aldi, with a flipped layout, nothing major. However, whereas the Springfield Aldi will mark the meats down when it is near sell by date, $1, $2 and sometimes even $3 off to make the fresh meats more than 50-75% off, I overheard the manager saying to an associate than no meat can be marked down more than $1. Received a coupon in the mail for the new store at Fair Lakes. We usually shop at the one on Lee Highway but were excited to try this new location. The New store has a fantastic produce section and layout. Staff are super friendly. There was an issue where our gift card wasn't scanned properly and it charged the full amount to my bank card. The manager on duty, Alex handled things very professionally even though it was super busy as he had to scan everything again to good it, then re-scan it to charge it to the gift card. I think this might become my new go to Aldi! read more

Can we just talk about how awesome Aldi is? Pretty good quality items and affordable pricing? I stopped in today for the first time at this location and layout is generally the same at other locations. I bought their chocolate chip brioche loaf and apple cider donuts comparable to Wegmans. Strawberries, raspberries & blackberries cheaper than HMart (so glad I waited!), whole milk was a $1.35 cheaper than Target, organic sweet potatoes, a nursing pillow for my coworker's baby shower ($9.99 vs. $40 retail), anti-fatigue kitchen mat and a welcome door mat for our new place all for under $40. Note: Please bring a quarter for your shopping cart, as you get it back after you return it. Also, if you're not about bagging your own groceries, get over it. Aldi's commitment to protecting the community during the current health crisis is all words and no action. Yesterday, I visitied Aldi. Here is what I observed mid afternoon: 1. Cashier: Mask worn with nose fully exposed. Only mouth was covered. I mentioned proper use and there did not seem to be concern. Seriously, she is handling my food and the mask is useless lacking its full use. 2. Fruit and Veg area: I observed two separate customer eating from a bag of grapes. Mask over chin, the customer pick grape by grape and tested each putting his hands into his mouth. I would hope that the store management does not believe that "we can't do anything about that" as an answer? read more

This Audi location was actually my first one I've ever been to! I really like their easy layout and the different choices of food and other things for purchase. It's a very open ended Space and everything is brightly lit and very easy to navigate. If I could give a zero I would. I absolutely hate this location. I only go here when I don't have any extra time to go to the Manassas location. Every time I come here I always encounter the rudest staff. Especially the man that wears a beanie all the time. I just left out not even 10 minutes ago & the person who checked me out was rude to say the least. He didn't speak as I approached. I spoke to him & said "Hello" he didn't respond. But not even a minute later, another employee approached him & he started going off about how he had been stuck at his register. & Continued to complain about how his boss doesn't do anything & how they do more than him & he could run the store better. Did not once speak to me. Not a greeting, not have a nice day. Nothing. But used the opportunity to bash his boss. I will never come back. The low prices are NOT even worth it! read more

Aldi is now my go to grocery store. I shop here every week. I'm only shopping for two, as I don't have children. However it's still amazing to me how little I spend to buy groceries here. If you are vegan/vegetarian, they have a pretty decent selection of non meat and dairy substitutes for a discount store. The lines can get a little long, but they move fast. For food, Aldi has pretty much everything. I hardly ever feel that I am missing something by shopping there. All the Aldi and generic brand products I have tried have proved their worth in taste and quality for often less than half the price of name brand items you see in normal stores. Only complaint I could have is that they are a bit small. Selection for certain household goods can be limited. They have cleaning supplies and things like Kleenex and toilet paper. However for things like shampoo and other personal care products I have to shop at other stores. This isn't much of a problem for me since I am not buying shampoo every week anyway! I love Aldi and I am so glad they built one so close to where I live. read more

I've shopped at Aldi stores in three states for over 20 years. This store is extra spacious, the products are high quality and I love their imported European products. Those specialty items are 3 times the price elsewhere. I'm in the store several times a week and I've only dealt with courteous staff. The lines move pretty quickly too. I just had a horrible experience at ALDI, and have to write about it. I really hope the management sees this and educate employees better. I went there to pick up a couple of items , had my own bag so didn't need the kart. After picking up all items needed, I proceeded to cashier. There was one person who was getting rung up, and I saw that she paid, and she was collecting her items from store's cart by cashier. My casher, Kendra, she started scanning my item, and put my items in the same cart as the other person's. Note that i didnt' have a lot of items, and by the time i was due to pay, the person in front of me was still collecting her items. I managed to try to stay a far, and inserted the card to pay. Then she told the lady in front of me to take my items! Then I said, no those are my items i just paid, she said, 'get your items!' I told her, " you see the lady is still right by the cart, and I am going to take precaution and stay where I am until she leaves' and Kendra said "you can borrow a quarter to get your own cart" like it's going to solve the matter. While she's talking that way, she rung up a person behind me, and she asked me to pay, because she got confused. I know she wants to get people out the door fast, but knowing that this is pandemic, and everyone wants to be safe, for her to just ring people up, and putting all items in the cart together and expecting me to collect the items while the lady is still there is not what I'm expecting from a grocery store during this era we're facing. And why did she even ask me to get my own cart, it's not like she can put those items in my own cart since the lady was still collecting her items?? I do appreciate all grocery store employees working during pandemic, but would really love to have the corporate educate employees on safety measures. read more

IF YOU WERE SHOPPING HERE ON 1/2/2019 YOU MIGHT HAVE HEARD THIS GOING ON. She started off the experience with "did you find everything okay" I then told her actually no, sadly I alwyas have a hard time finding decent produce at this location. It's either going bad or already bad and you have to search through the entire box just to find a few decent tomatoes, or whatever. She then responded to me with "WELL we are the #1 award winning store and we sell 50 billion dollars in produce every month so this complaint is very odd." I then replied well okay thats great it's just really this location that has that problem. And she says well like I stated we sell 50 billion dollars of produce so. I then asked for her name (Leslie) and Told her that I would just write a letter to corporate because she should be asking questions if she doesn't want to hear anything but good things. She then said WELL that's nice! You can write them, they can pull the cameras and see I said NOTHING WRONG! and I told her it's not about that it's the way she cake actoss tbag mase it so sour. She then just told me to go ahead let them pull the cameras. I then asked to speak with the store manger because I felt he 1 needed to see the produce. She then uses the walkie talkie to give him my full description down to what I'm wearing and that I'm headed over to the produce section. I brought the eggplants to her register to show him and her and she brought them back to the produce section!!! She goes back to her register and starts YELLING at me through the store trying to get me to not show the manager the produce I guess. I have never been yelled at like that since I was a child. Customers were saying how inappropriate that was I then showed the zucchini and yellow squash and he replied that yes this is unexceptional and they are bad. She then responds that that they are just "soft veggies" whatever that is. He then tells me he doesn't know her full name she is new, he gave me the corporate number which I will call, and says he will be sending her home. But I don't know if he actually did she was still ringing up customers. To make things worse as I walk back over to leave and get my cart my girlfriend tells me and other customers that she is saying she feels INTIMIDATED and should CALL THE POLICE!!!!!!!! People were telling her she didn't need to do that because I was not doing anything andnif anything she was intimidating me. I am not sure if it's because I am black and she is white but what could I have done that is so intimidating? I was embarrassed, angry, I felt low know if she called the police on me being black, I would be arrested or sadly shot. I'm never going back to this aldis. I went to buy some groceries and I witnessed a employee (her name was Leslie) be VERY rude to a customer. She was yelling at her from across the store just because she was trying to show her some produce that was going bad. What makes it worst is that she wanted to call the police because she felt " intimidated." I spoke to the victim and she was so upset. Aldis I love your store because of how Inexpensive it is. But if you have employees like Leslie working in your store that very disappointing. I hope that young lady gets her refund back because I can just image how she felt that night and NO ONE should feel that way. Leslie shouldn't be in this store.
