This is always been a terrible Grocery Store, but at least they had a self scanners so I didn't have to wait on a checkout line. Now that they have gotten rid of those, there is no reason for me to ever come back. Self checkout takes forever, because it doesn't register light items. The person at self checkout had to unlock me at least six times for $150 order. I never have this problem at any other Grocery Store with help check out. Either get enough checkout lines open, allow self scanning again, or make the self-checkout work. Once a Wegmans opens closer, this Grocery Store will experience a well-deserved closing. read more

I have been a loyal customer at this Giant Foods for years, but after my experience tonight, I'm seriously reconsidering ever shopping here again. I stopped in at 8:35 PM to grab groceries for a potluck breakfast. As usual, I used the handheld scanner to scan my items while shopping, bagged them in my reusable bag, and paid $81.00 at self-checkout. As I tried to leave, an employee stopped me to ask if I had made two transactions. I told him no and attempted to leave again--only to be stopped by the security guard, who demanded to see my receipt and then went through my bag to verify that I had paid for everything. Of course, I had. Not once did I receive an apology for being treated like a criminal. If this is how Giant treats its paying customers, they can count me out. No one should have to go through this kind of humiliation just for buying groceries. read more

Customer service is uncivil when encountering the woman wearing a mask and a wig. Didn't realize Giant Food hired "The Lone Ranger" or dress-up for Halloween ... In contrast, other employees here act more professional, unlike her. Time to smell the roses and find someone else immediately to greet customers for customer sevice. Excellent location with a huge parking lot, plenty of curbside pickup spots, clean and tidy cart corrals, no trash or debris in the entryway, fully stocked shelves, clean interior, brightly light shelves with LED lights, and a great selection in the bakery! I picked up some items for a brunch today and was pleasantly surprised at the selection, donuts, cakes, bagels, cookies, muffins, croissants, and all sorts of other items to choose from. They had an incredibly well presented and decorated vanilla spice cake for only $3 that was absolutely amazing! I grabbed one but if we were to live in a judgment-free world, I would have bought many more. I kept it in the trunk, didn't take it to brunch, and saved it for myself---no regrets! There was no wait at the self-checkout line. Great experience overall. read more

The driver REFUSED to leave my groceries at my front door and instead left my food in the lobby without letting me know they were there. I "discovered" them in the lobby and had to scramble around to get someone to bring them to my door. I order delivery because of health issues and this defeats the purpose if I cannot get deliveries to my door. I contacted Giant a week ago, and to date have not received a response to this is issue. Super convenient location/walkable from my house gets it 2 stars. The deli always takes FOREVER, lines to check out tend to be long, lots of things not in stock. The pharmacy is very poorly run, and also takes forever. Only come here if it's a necessity. read more

I've been coming here for over 10 years and it's good enough. It has the staples, a decent amount of specialty, they have almost a while aisle for health type foods, but not a huge selection of organic. If you come when it's busy the lines can get a little slow but I would argue that happens at many supermarkets. I've had pretty experiences with the bank inside so I don't know if I want to include that in this review but if I did, it would go down one star. Many times I have been followed or targeted in the parking lot for money and once had to get the security guard. It gets the job done for sure and you can probably find what you need but I do actually prefer the other stores down York. read more

I love this Giant. It's the closest grocery store to my house other than Shoppers. I used to shop at Mars before it closed and I eventually when to Giant because they had a bigger selection and the prices aren't outrageous. Everyone that works there is extremely friendly. The produce always looks fresh. My only complaint is that they never have enough registers open. I'm always waiting in line, no matter what time of the day I grocery shop. I occasionally do self check out when I don't have many items but I guess I'm always doing something wrong and the register makes you wait for help... and the help comes but never fast enough. read more

I have to say that this pharmacy really helped me out in a pinch! I was unable to get to my Rite Aid pharmacy in PA and I work across the street from the Giant. They normally do not honor my situation, but were willing to fill my prescription just this one time and it was greatly appreciated. The pharmacist and cashier made me feel like a part of the community and took the time to listen to the difficulties I had been having with all of the local Rite Aids switching over to Walgreens (who do not take Cigna insurance) and I felt as if they cared about the pinch I was in and wanted to help. On 1/5/20 Sunday there was 2 customer service managers at the front desk. The old bald black man with grey in his beard and hair and a woman. The bald old man was profiling me in the giant store follow me for no purpose made me really angry and uncomforrable to shopping because I was a hispanic. This is a perfect 5 star Giant I have spent too much money here I have never had any problems shopping here, but this employee is discriminate customers in your store. If you don't demote him fast you will lose customers. Please General manager or their hiring department can you do something about this? read more

Nice store now that the renovations are complete. There are not enough self checkout lines. Some of the private label giant brand sodas taste funny so steer clear of them. Good variety and friendly people. Parking can be a problem if you go at peak hours. read more

Meh. I've started traveling further to go to other Giant locations to do my shopping. While this location has a better selection than the 41st street store, its produce area is often picked over. One time I went in there and they were completely out of three vegetables I needed. The quality of the green peppers is consistently poor. Also,the deli counter is painfully slow. I'll come back here in a pinch, but I'm mostly over this store. read more

I have been a loyal Giant shopper. I am new in the area and need to find a grocery store. The store was clean, shelves were being filled. Only 1 cashier on???? I waited in line for 25 minutes to check out. My ice cream bars were melted. I should have walked out after 5 minutes of waiting. The line behind me and in front of me for the only cashier was very long. I will drive farther to find a different grocery store. I came here 2 times now, and this is the normal experience I have had. There is no excuse to not have enough cashiers on. I wonder how they would have liked putting all my items back if I would have walked out. The produce section was ok, lots of bad strawberries already. I was here at 10 in the morning. They should have had plenty of help on and good produce. I am sorry Giant, but you let me down. read more

A big store, but it's very crowded, no matter when you go in. And why is the ice cream always melted?

I've been shopping at this Giant for almost 50 years. Since the bean counters took over 3 or 4 years ago, this store (as well as other Giant stores) have headed so far down hill, I now have to travel a bit, but do my major food shopping at Wal-mart (they have the brands I use, while Giant eliminated them ). Since the resent and 2nd reorganization of this store, some of my neighbors won't shop Giant because of lost customer service, products eliminated and too much junk. Again, the bean counters have ruined Giant. In the mid 60's, I worked for IGA Foodland. A&P was our competition for PRICE and Giant was our competition for CUSTOMER SERVICE. A few years ago, when Giant outsourced their meat, bakery and deli food preparation departments, their downward slide really started. In January of 2017, I purchased a pound of chicken and potato salad, and BOTH were BAD. I had to return them the next day. The deli workers just blew it off like no big deal it happens all the time (I have never used Giant's deli since !). Also, some Giant employees need training in common courtesy toward people with disabilities. I was recently confined to a wheelchair after major reconstructive surgery, I was appalled by the treatment I received from a cashier who wouldn't bag my order. In conclusion, in search of the high profit margin, Giant's young bean counters don't realize what a grocery store means to the community. SAD that it has come to this. read more

This is my Giant of choice in the area. I usually try to go during the day while everyone is at work since it does get pretty busy but then again what grocery store isn't at that time. I think this location has much better produce than the one off of 41st. My only con is that I've been here a couple times and they didn't have any grocery bags so that was a bit annoying. Besides that this is my go to spot especially since there are couple places surrounding that I might need to stop in while in the area. read more

I've shopped here for many years, but always grit my teeth. The employees who stock the shelves seem annoyed when you try to get something; you are interfering with their work, it seems. But my pharmacy experience this week was the worst, I will not be filling prescriptions there anymore. Customer service anyone? Do you suppose anyone else has a job, or time that they value? No, just come back again and again for your promised prescription, and then wait 30 minutes while they try to "rush" it. I think the poor guy who just wanted a price quote is probably still waiting there. read more
