Generally pretty good but if you go after 3 on a weekday the produce is very picked over :(

The employees are nice, but this particular Giant Eagle, in West View, is just terrible. I don't know the manager at all, who he or she might be, but clearly the person can't manage. You go to this store if you're stuck on the 8 Perrysville or 13 Bellevue bus. Or you live right next door perhaps. The produce was so incredibly sparse, and low quality, that I thought I was in Soviet Russia. Iceberg lettuce? Ya think? Can I buy some? No. About half the produce section was empty. Are they about to close this store? That would be an improvement. I feel that Giant Eagle corporate simply has no self-respect, to allow this store to continue to operate the way it does with their name on it. I will never go back to this store, except for the Pharmacy, and then probably just until I find someplace else. The Pharmacy is good, I will give it that. Clearly the mis-manager has no input into the running of the pharmacy. So there's that. Seriously, this is the worst Giant Eagle you are likely to find. The worst I have ever been in, and I've been in many. In fact, right after this review I will slice my "advantage" card in two and write of Giant Eagle for good. I have Aldi, I have Trader Joe's, I have Sam's Club, etc. I am not stuck for grocery shopping and I feel there is no reason to ever shop there again. And this isn't just a one-off. I've been suffering at that awful place for years, off and on. And from now on, it is off. Good riddance West View Giant Eagle. And good riddance, Giant Eagle generally. The only reason I didn't give it one star is that I didn't see any rats. read more

I was in the area and decided to go to this Giant Eagle instead of the usual one I go to on Mcknight rd. This store is much smaller and has less of a selection as well. My biggest complaint is that the Giant Eagle I always go to has the scanners you carry around and us to scan your merchandise so when you get to cashier you just scan the scanner and you are done. The scanner is a huge savings in time. I found that this store was lacking in selection and did not have a few of the items i wanted. I would not go back unless I had too. read more

Not to be confused with Giant Igloo, which is in Nunavut. But would also be a good name for this place in January sometimes. I was stranded overnight in West View while my car was being repaired. I shopped here for some bananas and snacks, which were fine. I spent the whole evening here using their Wi-Fi that didn't work very well. I did manage to find a working outlet, but it was in the closed section of the cafe. I got asked to leave that area once - and a couple of dirty looks - and the lights turned off on me - but I stayed there til close so that was good. Until midnight that is. When I was kicked out into one of the worst torrential downpours I've seen, things took a turn for the worse. I then had to sleep in the car in very cold temps. I was able to take shelter under a nearby store awning until the weather let up. But I do think they could have been much better about my situation, especially considering they were stocking shelves through the night and I wasn't bothering anyone. read more

This is your basic Giant Eagle that you can find just about anywhere in the western Pennsylvania/Pittsburgh area. Part of a plaza that offers just enough shopping for your one stop experience. Inside is on the larger side which means a bit more of a selection base. Offering the basic departments. Citizen's Bank has a branch located inside as well so you can take care of your banking while you pick up those groceries. read more

It is not as clean as it used to be. I noticed on my last shopping trip and it is pretty dirty. I go here because it is convenient, but it has definitely gone downhill. The deli staff is always kind. I hope they can improve on the cleanliness. read more

This Giant Eagle is like the one you go to if you have no other options. People solicit outside seemingly for drug seeking and it's just like, watch my back while walking in. The employees are ok. I forgot my wallet one time and had purchased quite a bit and she said she would put it on hold, no problem and bag them. Excellent!! Nope, got back with my wallet and all was put away. This is my local, neighborhood Giant Eagle. A necessary evil. I've been shopping here for years, and it's a typical grocery store with an infuriatingly long line at the Pharmacy. In recent years they've started carrying more organic and vegetarian products, which is great. The signs indicate you can buy beer here, which is convenient if you like that sort of thing. What I like most about this location is that I know where everything is. I know that doesn't really help YOU, but it saves me from going insane and taking way too long in this fluorescent paradise. The best thing about this particular Giant Eagle is that whoever is in charge of the music knows how to keep me entertained. Most people may not notice that the overhead speakers were just blasting Destiny's Child, followed by "Islands In The Stream"...but I do. In October, this Giant Eagle has decided that your shopping soundtrack will include Janet Jackson's "Black Cat" and the theme from Psycho. Seriously. At higher than normal volumes. Thanks, music guy. Waiting in line at the Pharmacy is a little less painful when I'm giggling to myself. read more

Not all that convenient to my house, but they are open most days until 1 am, which can be a lifesaver. The store is rambling and rather large, with a good pharmacy, however note that the pharmacy hours are more limited. It's a bit confusing during late hours, because they block the entrance to the right, however most people know to enter to the left after hours. read more

Used to go pretty frequently, since I lived right by there. But then I started driving then ten extra minutes to Aldis. The cashiers at this GE were almost always rude/acted like they hated being there SO much? Food is over priced. Pharmacists were really nice. read more

Been going there for years but that is about to change, this has been going on and off for a while but lately they it's every time.I got some braunschweiger i caught them sliceing it real thin i had to stop them from sliceing, what happened to a standerd you did not have them to "cip" the Isalys chipped chopped. the deli slicers are they just trying to piss people off, slicing salami and cheese thinner than paper, translucent, i could read a eye chart through a slice. you need more than 8 slices of salami to make a sandwich, 5 or 6 slices of cheese to make a grill cheese. today i got some Isaly's Chipped Chopped ham, got home to find the "CHIPPED CHOPPED" ham was sliced thicker than the cheese and salami i got 5 days ago. like my friends said if i have to go to shop n save for deli meat i will do the rest of my shopping there also. read more

This is my local supermarket (and the easiest one to get to on the bus line) and I go here almost every week. Most of the employees are friendly and they have a pretty good bakery at this one. It's nowhere as big as the Market District ones but it's big enough to get what you need. You can buy alcohol here and they have a hot cafe. Being Giant Eagle, they can run the prices a little high. read more

I really have no idea how folks view this place is clean. Bathrooms are always disgusting (I have a 7 yr old who never fails to need to use the restroom no matter where we go). Whomever is in charge of moving the store around every now & then is, frankly, a butt-munch because it never makes sense...baking items for instance are EVERYWHERE IN THE STORE but not all together. Annoying. The SOY BUTTER which contains NO NUTS and is used for those with allergies so they don't, ya know, DIE...is beside the peanut butter & other nut butters. This is in every grocery store so I know it's not just them...but oh my goodness. The staff doesn't always respond...if you are cheerful they almost don't know how to respond, probably because they get treated like garbage by management. Management isn't on the floor and helping their staff, specifically their cashiers. I have found moldy tortillas on two separate occasions. This place makes me crazy. I don't come here for prices. I don't come here for anything unless it's late or I need something NOW. Hot foods are fine...rotissarie chicken has been less and less appealing compared to competitors. Pharmacy seems to be a little better than before. Still has a long way to go. read more

I had ordered a Birthday cake from the bakery for my birthday on Oct17,2016. I know they have 5 inch cake's so that was what I wanted. It came out perfect, Purple, Pink, and Green color's and writing, just what I wanted. The cake was decorated,just like I wanted,and Half and Half. I also called the next day to thank them, it was so good. In 2012, I purchased a cake from somewhere else and they spelled my name wrong! I want to start out saying that Giant Eagle is not my favorite grocery store. They generally run higher in prices on their stock than other local markets. That being said, this Giant Eagle is my favorite one. It's clean and the people who work there are generally friendly when you ask a question.It's big but laid out pretty well. Here the produce is fairly fresh and you don't have to fight the jittney drivers or drug dealers for the parking places like the North side GE. You don't have the Zombie stare from the employees or as much road rage like at the McKnight Rd GE. So, all in all, this store is pretty good. read more

Sent my son to buy salisbury steaks from the meat counter. None were there so I told him to ask if they would make some up as that is what I normatlly do. Guy told him he didn't have any at all. I found that hard to believe so I called and asked myself and after first being told the same thing I asked why normally it was able to be made, he then came back and said that he did have the mix and could do it(pure laziness). I was sent a survey a while ago and was asked why I very rarely shop there any more and I explained my reasons. This right here is a classic reason of why i only come there when absolutely necessary. My son should not have been treated with any less respect than if I went myself. Horrible customer service and that just doesn't apply to the meat counter. Other workers complaining and more interested in conversations with other workers than doing their job. Dirty looking store. I have taken my business elsewhere even though I live right down the street. What a shame. Just thought you should know. read more
