We need more Trader Joe's stores in Pittsburgh! Everything is healthy and good quality at a fair price. Workers are the sweetest. Store is clean and stocked. It's my favorite place to shop. Since there are only two locations in Pittsburgh - it is usually crowded here. I wouldn't recommend going on weekends. Also be very careful in this parking lot. It is shared with the rest of the plaza. It gets crowded and tight. Cars coming from all directions.

Trader Joe's is a grocery store chain that has typical departments such as produce, dairy, meats, seafoods, grains, canned and boxed goods, frozen foods, health and beauty products, etcetera. Trader Joes, though, is smaller in size that other grocery stores, carries far fewer products, and carries mostly products under its own private label name. Many products are organic or are unique prepared foods that you will not find at other stores. During my recent visit to this location of Trader Joe's, I picked up several fruits, pastas, sauces, and bread. The store did not carry enough products for me to do all of my grocery shopping here, but I enjoyed picking up some new, quality foods. The prices were surprisingly reasonable. At the checkout, I waited in line for maybe one minute. The cashier was very nice in her greeting and farewell. She noticed that my bag of pears was smashed, so she asked another employee to get me a new bag of pears. Unfortunately, that bag also had a smashed pear inside, but I appreciate their efforts.

Some beautiful flowers from TJ's at an unbelievably low price to brighten my day and reduce my stress.

I have always loved Trader Joe's. I usually only review dining and entertainment establishments, but am branching out. First, they only hire really pleasant workers or somehow teach them. The store is well organized, with the exception of some of the "treats," and I think this is intentional so shoppers make new discoveries, which is kind of fun. The produce is always top rate and reasonably priced. TJ's has a good selection of gluten free, vegetarian and vegan products. My omnivorous friends tell me the meats are also top-notch. Even in these tough times, with necessary precautions in place, including limiting # of customers in the store at a time, shopping at TJ's is actually a pleasant experience instead of a chore.

Inside it is a standard Aldi but they do have the Aldi finds (the aisle of shame!) which you cannot find at every Aldi. My experience with their produce and meats has been very good; I have bought their hamburgers several times and found them to be excellent in quality. Checkout is pretty quick; there are no self-scan registers in this store (that would be nice) but I have never waited in line more than a few minutes. Given its location, the excellent prices, and that aisle of shame, I will be here often.

I also appreciate the fair return policy, if something is wrong they refund your money and also you can replace the item. They don't give you any grief if you need to return something like Giant Eagle. They have certainly expanded their selection and the quality has always been good. The only issue is that the items come and go just like Trader Joe's. I love the hummus chips that pop up every once in a while, but then they go away quickly. I have always loved the fact that they never use plastic bags, which is very sustainable. It is very good to have them in the neighborhood. Please note: if you park out in the front you will not be able to transport your groceries in a cart out to your car. The store is wired so that the cart gets locked up if you try to leave out of the front door. This can suck if the back parking lot is full.

The square has a covered area now too, with lots of seating so it can be enjoyed year round. It was recently renovated just in time for the NFL Draft to allow more accessibility and better space for events. In the public area, there are some tables and chairs to sit and enjoy the area. They also seem to plan to have a lot more semi-permenant attractions in the space. Currently their is a roller rink (which is surprisingly affordably priced) . It has historically been home to the Holiday Market (which was moved into the theater area this year because of the construction). I hope the market does move back because Market Square was definitely the better space for it. There is plenty of parking nearby in garages, surface lots and street parking. The one downside is that it is really tough to drive through, especially with the way the renovated it. Drivers seem to be stopping to take in the new look or don't understand directional signage so there is often traffic backups.
