I really enjoy shopping here. The plants on the way in, fresh produce, and unique offerings. What I didn't like was the checkout guy not wanting me to pick up my plant out of the cart so it wouldn't get damaged in check out. Trader Joes carries some of my favorite frozen meals. The craziest thing is that when you eat their frozen food, it tastes as if it were cooked from scratch. My favorite item at the moment is their vegan bulgogi, I just cant get enough. The workers are extremely friendly and attentive and the other shoppers are usually polite as well. My only complaint is about Trader Joe's is the space, I always end up running into a few people, but other than that its one of my favorite grocery stores. read more

The store is too small for the amount of people that are in it and there's no rhyme or reason to the aisles people just put their carts anywhere and no one says excuse me they just bumped into each other. Since there are only two locations in Pittsburgh - it is usually crowded here. I wouldn't recommend going on weekends. Also be very careful in this parking lot. Why does going to a Trader Joe's always seem to put a smile on my face every time I go?. The staff are always upbeat, cool, accommodating and friendly, going out of their way to help you. Love the somewhat eclectic selection of food items, including British crumpets and tea scones as well as including the frozen Asian meals. Their Indian and Thai meals are restaurant quality and like a lot of TJ's prepared food they are mostly devoid of preservatives. Prices are good too and it's good job they aren't on my doorstep as I would be shopping there everyday. read more

I shop here often, however today when I went with my kids, one of which was throwing a full blown tantrum, I had the best customer service experience. One woman in particular, who I unfortunately did not get her name, helped me immensely. The kindness and care that she, and the woman checking me out at the counter, showed my kids and I was so refreshing. They truly hire the sweetest, most helpful staff. Trader Joe's is a grocery store chain that has typical departments such as produce, dairy, meats, seafoods, grains, canned and boxed goods, frozen foods, health and beauty products, etcetera. Trader Joes, though, is smaller in size that other grocery stores, carries far fewer products, and carries mostly products under its own private label name. Many products are organic or are unique prepared foods that you will not find at other stores. During my recent visit to this location of Trader Joe's, I picked up several fruits, pastas, sauces, and bread. The store did not carry enough products for me to do all of my grocery shopping here, but I enjoyed picking up some new, quality foods. The prices were surprisingly reasonable. At the checkout, I waited in line for maybe one minute. The cashier was very nice in her greeting and farewell. She noticed that my bag of pears was smashed, so she asked another employee to get me a new bag of pears. Unfortunately, that bag also had a smashed pear inside, but I appreciate their efforts. read more

Friendly, helpful staff. Many tasty and interesting foods that are well priced. We've largely replaced our go-to supermarket, Giant Eagle, with Trader Joes (TJ). But there is a dark underbelly to this company. It seems one way they keep prices low is by cheap packaging. For instance, I think they wouldn't have had a recall of their canned tuna - for botulism, no less - if they used a vendor that didn't save money on the cans (that failed). Their "penny wise, pound foolish" policy seems to permeate almost all products. Packaging is either flimsy, frustrating to use or just downright dumb. Also, products we like sometimes just disappear and never come back. Like their frozen chicken burritos. read more

I was really upset because I brought my family to pick out flowers for my grandmothers funeral and one of the workers (named Kara) came over and asked us to move out of way. It would be different if she asked politely but no she was awfully rude. Did not appreciate that, we are here to buy your products treat you customers with respect please. I can't believe I've been living my life, not knowing about Trader Joe's. I don't live in the north or south hills so I'm never in the area to even shop but this particular day we were in the north hills area and so glad we stopped!! Oh my goodness. I instantly fell in love. It's a cross between Aldis and Whole Foods. The smaller size shopping carts makes it easy to maneuver around the store. I love the whole produce section and had such a great time just browsing. I got Trader Joe's chicken spring rolls which were fantastic. We also fell in love with the chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwiches. Trader Joe's KC barbecue sauce was a big hit with my boyfriend. We cannot wait to return!!! read more

They have the best Customer Services ever. Other businesses could learn from them. The employees are all always pleasant and helpful. I remember how pleasant and helpful the employees were during he COVID Pandemic . Those employees never lost their cool , even when the customers weren't always patient. Plus your employees go above and beyond to help the customer. My only disappointment is they got rid of their unsweetened, mint ice tea. In fact , they don't have any ice tea right now. I do not want lemonade or sugared drinks . I found the gallon iced tea with mint to be very refreshing and well priced. I hope they get the ice tea back before the summer. read more

I love Trader Joe's I wish it was closer to my house. I only stop a few tones a year, but when I do I go nuts. It's especially great to get healthy & different foods. They have the best frozen section for adventurous diners, lots of cool ethnic food choices. Also a great vegetarian/vegan selection, even vegan ice cream & desserts! I spent almost $200 today! Oh and the fresh flowers are fabulous & cheap if you need a bouquet. I forgot to take photos because I was too busy shopping. I have always loved Trader Joe's. I usually only review dining and entertainment establishments, but am branching out. First, they only hire really pleasant workers or somehow teach them. The store is well organized, with the exception of some of the "treats," and I think this is intentional so shoppers make new discoveries, which is kind of fun. The produce is always top rate and reasonably priced. TJ's has a good selection of gluten free, vegetarian and vegan products. My omnivorous friends tell me the meats are also top-notch. Even in these tough times, with necessary precautions in place, including limiting # of customers in the store at a time, shopping at TJ's is actually a pleasant experience instead of a chore. read more

As are all the Trader Joe's I've been to, this one was clean, well stocked, had lots of busy employees and busy! Because of the store size, isles are small and it's difficult to move in and out of each, dodging wondering carts lead by shoppers looking up and down like food zombies and not which direction they are heading. It becomes very annoying! Like all other locations too, however, they move checking out quickly. Unfortunately however, the employees were to wrapped up in their pvt conversation then recognizing me as their customer. Oh! and I had a hell of a time finding any milk chocolate. Every chocolate product was dark only! What's up with that???!! Just by chance while checking out, I found one milk chocolate product, which was a packet of 3 mini chocolate bars. Wasted a bit of time criss crossing the store looking for this. Other than that, am getting disappointed in the bakery goods that this food chain carries. Seems to be less bakery products in past few years and the items I end up picking up are often not of good quality (often too prepackaged plastic sealed for a long shelf life type items. But not fresh tasting at all, more cardboardish and stale!). The very nice looking cinnamon coffee cake caught my eye, holding hopes of it tasting good to wonderful. But hey, as usual it was only fine. It's very dry and not easily swallowed without lots of milk/some liquid. I'm thinking of soaking it in some liquor to give it a bit of life. Something, anything to help from tossing it in the trash. I hate wasting food. Well.... Used to love me some TJ but their quality seems to be waning. All I can say is, big bummer! read more

This is definitely the best Trader Joe's location in the Pittsburgh region. The customer service is extraordinary and the social distancing measures are as best as they can be. Whenever I'm looking for a product, someone always checks the computer system to make sure it's in stock or when it will come into the store. The people are super nice and helpful here and it always feels genuine. I always find myself pleasantly surprised when I return my cart and see an employee walking towards me to retrieve it. I'm very partial to this store, to the point that I shouldn't be reviewing it because I'm so slanted. I'm known as "bagel man" among staff due to the fact that when their "everything but the bagel seasoning" came out I started making my own bagels with their seasoning and hunted down shipments. Weird, yep, but I own that weirdness and won't dispute it. :) Their products are A+, their staff is A+++++++++; I love this place. I love their staff, I love everything they have done during the pandemic to keep their staff and customers as safe as possible. I went in it was a bit smaller than the ones in New York but still had a descent selection. I got a few things and left. The cashiers where fast and friendly. I'm used to the South Hills store, so of course I'm a little thrown off by the set-up being different. I do feel like this one flows a little better, as the aisles seem wider in the produce section, which is the first part of the store. It then flows in the dairy portion,m and then the meats. Same as south hills, but again, I think wider aisles helps a lot. I also like that the non-cold beverages are by the cold beverages. Makes more sense. The rest of the set-up is pretty similar. I still love the selection, wish there was more variety though as I feel like I still always have to hit up a "regular" grocery store for some essentials. I also wish the gluten free items weren't mixed in with the regular items. They give you a printed out list if you ask, but it's confusing and not at all helpful. I love that they carry so many items, but my thought is more awesome items are probably just hidden and I'm missing them! I have always had a pleasant experience in this location. The choices are outstanding, the staff is always pleasant and helpful, and most of the prices cannot be beat. I love the sampling section(s), they usually offer a food tasting as well as a drink tasting. This is a great way to taste some unique items that they sell before purchasing. Although, I know first hand, that if you are questioning whether or not you would like a certain product and you tell an employee, they will open the product right there on the sales floor and let you sample it. It's so nice because I am not one to return food items to the store once I decided that I didn't like them. My son loves to come with me because he loves to look for the hidden stuffed porcupine. They hide a little stuffed porcupine somewhere in the store and if you find it you get a lollipop and you get to re-hide it somewhere in the store. I didn't give this location a five stars because the parking can be difficult, they do not have their own parking lot and share it with other venues and stores. Also, this particular location is very small and when they are busy it is so hard to navigate in the store. Lastly, they have very few stores in the Pittsburgh area, to get to one, and this is the closest for me, I have to drive quite far. read more

Granted, I wasn't looking for much, just picking up a few items I needed and had forgotten. Maybe it is because this is a newer store and time will tell whether or not my thoughts of this place with waiver. I love the monthly features. There are plenty of vegan, carb conscious options. You are also welcome to sample any item by bringing it to the sample booth section by the produce. They offer a fun incentive for bringing your own bags, they have cool stickers & they hide a stuffed animal somewhere in the store. If you find it, you win a prize & get to re-hide it. Always loved trader joe's. This particular one is probably the cleanest I've seen. When you go in, you are greeted by the lovely scent of fresh flowers and fresh herbs. I love the produce selection here as they are clean and fresh! You can buy some veggies that are packaged and already trimmed, and they come with cooking instructions in case you're trying something new. It's hard for me to find radish, capers, various asian and mediterranean ingredients and sauces, but they have it! They even have new potatoes and heirloom tomatoes that you can't just find at a giant eagle or shop and save. I think the prices are very reasonable for the quality. The people who work here are all very courteous and helpful, and they really seem to love their job. All smiles! If you ask anyone, even when they are stocking or busy, they walk you to the aisle instead of just telling you where to go. I appreciate it and almost makes me feel bad. I also love that they encourage shoppers to bring their own bags. Save the planet! Only downside is the parking. Not the store's fault though. read more

I have never had a bad experience at this Trader Joe's! Depending on the time of day you go, parking can be tricky as the parking lot is shared between several businesses and restaurants. There are hand wipes readily available right inside the door that may be used to wipe down handles of carts and baskets. Though I find some of their prices to be slightly higher, Trader Joe's has such a unique variety of groceries that I always consider it a treat when I get to shop here. A few stand outs for me include: frozen beets (I add to my morning smoothie bowls), chai spice mix (great with milk/almond milk or to use for baking), pumpkin ravioli and brussel sprout and caramelized onion ravioli (make brown sage butter sauce for the pumpkin and you'll die and go to heaven), petite pumpkin spice cookies (wonderful with applesauce), ginger snaps (delicious with a pumpkin dip) among other items. I readily purchase tea bags and always find items to pick up in their dry good section such as pine nuts (decent price for quantity), dried apricots, freeze dried strawberries, pepitas - the list goes on! In my freezer, I have Cauliflower Gnocchi and Kung Pao Chicken waiting for me to try! I always enjoy receiving their latest flyer to see what new and creative item they come out with next. I have utilized their "Guide To Turkey Roasting" which included a fresh herbs such as sage, rosemary, and thyme along with onions, lemons and S & P. The turkey was flavorful and stayed relatively moist. I cannot say enough about their employees at this location. Anytime I have trouble finding something, someone is always around to assist me and they are very apologetic if the item is out of stock (currently frozen beets!!) or out of season. The cashiers are always pleasant, engage in conversation, and make sure I have found everything I needed. I will be back in a few weeks! read more

Oh, Trader Joes, I would be lost without them. From great food, to fresh flowers that bloom forever, there really is nothing bad I could say about this 'Joe's. The isles are wider than their sister store in the South Hills, so it's so easy to navigate through this store, unless you're here when church lets out, or there are a whole bunch of people that don't know "about" how trader joes works. They always have a great selection of fresh flowers, that from my experience last forever. AND, they are super duper cheap. I had a $3.99 bouquet last almost 2 weeks! Crazy. My go to's at Joes are usually their Dried Mandarin Oranges, they taste just like candy, and that cookie butter! Oh man. Don't get me started on the cookie butter. You could put that on anything and I'd love it. This store, since it's so recently opened, always has a ton of lanes open, and everyone that works there is sincerely friendly. I like that a lot. Their produce is cheaper than produce at Giant Eagle, plus all the Trader Joe's essentials. It's located across from Burgatory near Dick's Sporting Goods, Home Goods, and more so it's a prime location for a Sunday morning shop. My favorite grocery store, hands down. Great selection of everyday and unique grocery/household items at great prices with the friendliest staff. I start off picking up a fresh bouquet of beautiful flowers at a super reasonable price, then I hit up the perimeter of the store, picking up a few of their delicious pre-made salads, super fresh veggies and fruits, and I spend too much time in their cheese section because it's fabulous! My go-to cheese is their cheddar/gruyere hybrid cheese, but there are so many to choose from at amazing prices. I also love the Parmesan and Gouda hybrid cheese and the pub cheese with jalapeño. Next I grab easy items for my family's Italian and Mexican nights, including their fresh pico de gallo, which is the best out there, their homemade pizza sauce, which is sweet and delicious, and their homemade pizza dough in wheat, herb (my favorite) or white. I also love their flatbread pizza crusts, and the cauliflower pizza crust (in the frozen section). I'm hooked on their corn & wheat tortillas, which are healthy and soft, fresh pico and the salsa autentica. I pick up at least 4 jars of salsa every time I come because my husband is obsessed and devours it. I stock up on ground chicken and turkey at a great price, and I love their maple bacon breakfast sausage and turkey bacon. My kids always request the 12 grain mini snack crackers and the cheddar rocket crackers, and I can't leave without picking up at least 1 dark chocolate speculoos filled candy bar in the checkout isle. read more

Every single person we encountered at this store could not have been friendlier or more helpful. They let us sample a cheese we wanted to try, threw in a sample of ham, and juice. We bought all three. We asked about a product we couldn't find on the shelf, an employee said it has been temporarily discontinued but they just got it in today and they would gladly search through boxes for it for us. (We appreciated it but didn't want to trouble them.) Then, we thought about returning a product we bought on our last trip, and they said they would discount it from our tab so we could try it on the house. (Again, much appreciated, but decided to keep and try the item and declined the discount.) All of this as they were only a few minutes from closing on a Saturday night. Super impressed! Bonus points for the Ghostbusters theme song playing in the store. Seriously, love this Trader's. read more

I love Trader Joe's! We are more than delighted that we no longer have to take the trek to East Liberty to get our Trader Joe's staples at their unbeatable prices. Sadly, it's still in PA and there's no wine section......sigh. I'm not sure how Trader Joe's consistently finds the most courteous, joyous people to staff their stores but that's what you find in every location - and we've hit a lot of them across the country, mainly to do a good wine & snack run for vacations. Although I love this store, they designed a couple of the spaces a bit tighter than typical. Exiting the cash registers is especially tight trying to navigate people bagging, carts, children, etc. The store can also get super congested at the entrance during busy times. Everyone can no doubt compile a list of the reasons they return again & again once they've discovered the goodies in store here. I've surely got a long list! read more

Oh Trader Joe's, how I love thee! This store is still relatively new and is absolutely beautiful. It is bright, clean, and welcoming. There are always ample amounts of registers being manned by helpful and knowledgeable staff. I have never had to wait more than a couple minutes to check out, even during peak busy times. I live about two miles from the East Liberty location, but I have abandoned that store completely and now come to this location despite the longer drive. Everything about this location is better than East Liberty. The parking lot is larger, the staff is much more friendly, and it is generally less packed at all times. I always found myself fighting through crowds at the East Liberty store, making it an entirely negative experience. I love driving up north to this Trader Joe's and being able to actually enjoy my grocery shopping. TJ's has so many foods that I adore that you just can't find anywhere else. A few favorites of mine are the chicken pot pie ravioli, the chili lime chicken burgers, the asparagus risotto, and the black bean and cheese taquitos. I love to stock up on freezer foods at Trader Joe's, but their fresh fruits and veggies are also fantastic. As always, I find that the prices at Trader Joe's are much more affordable than local competitors (cough, Giant Eagle, cough). My wallet is happy, my tummy is happy...what more could you ask for?! I will continue to frequent Trader Joe's for all of my grocery needs! read more

Can't give it a full 5* as they don't sell alcohol here. I realise this isn't their fault, but due to PA laws. Anyway, in short, I liked this location much better than the one on Penn Ave. It's newer, more spacious, and less crowded. Contrary to the other reviews, I had absolutely no problem with parking here, it was plentiful, but my visit was early on a Monday afternoon as opposed to a Sunday afternoon. I found the staff really friendly, cheerful, and helpful! What really stood out was at the checkout, the cashier noticed that the tortillas I picked up were crushed/ripped, so he rang his bell to ask someone on the sales floor to grab me a new package. So that's what the bell is for! :) I was really impressed by this and it was soo fast, like magic really! Trader Joe's is a novelty for us Canadians, but I don't think my glee for visiting any TJ location will ever go away. read more
