This Giant Eagle department store has a layout and product selection that is similar to other Giant Eagles. I shopped here one time, and I focused on purchasing just a few items. However, the shelves throughout the store looked to be fully stocked with fruits, vegetables, meats, fishes, dairy products, baked goods, snack foods, household products, and more. Prices were average. I found the fruit and sodas that I needed. The cashier promptly and correctly rang up the purchase and thanked me. A pharmacy and bank are on-site, but I did not use them. A big, bright, suburban Giant Eagle that is well managed and has plenty of parking. It's right off the Parkway North, which makes it really convenient for me. There's an entrance to a wine store on the left side. My complaints are the high prices and the produce is not very good. The produce looks fine, but when you get it home, it never compares to what I can get from a farmers market. The staff are hard working, and someone cleans the shopping carts before they are put back in use. They have a pharmacy and bank, which provides for one stop shopping. read more

OMG watch out there's a Giant Eagle coming after you! Oh never mind it's just a grocery store. In general, I would only give Giant Eagle locations a 1 or 2 star rating. They're overpriced, with iffy produce (sometimes) and not the greatest selection. They have nothing on Wegmans, only the prices are comparable. However this happens to be my fave Giant Eagle. Partly because when I was broken down in Pitt I shopped here and they had all the things I needed. Partly because when I was on tour, a long time ago, I used this windy hilltop parking lot to sort out my car and switch everything from my baby's car to mine. What a rip off paying premium prices and getting sub standard product Two Idaho baking potatoes were over $7. First time ever in a Giant Eagle supermarket. I was in Home Depot which was next door and Wife and I just moved to Pittsburg and we needed a few Items. The store was average size to me maybe a little on the small side compared to the New York supermarkets I am used too. I picked out a few items that we needed to hold us over for a few days and then checked out. The store as not that bust and the cashier was fast and friendly. I had a good experience here compared to some of the other reviewers. I am not sure of the pricing compared to other chains around in Pittsburgh, But compared to NY the prices were fine read more

Giant Eagle is a terrifying name for a grocery store. Every time I go here I think of a giant eagle waiting behind the store's facade and then swooping out and attacking my eyes as soon as I get out of my car. I shopped at this location for more than two years and I can tell you that they have all the normal food that you want to buy like eggs and bacon and burgers and donuts and buns. You can even get alcohol in the store now because they've got a liquor store built into the store itself - it's like a little store lives inside of the bigger store! read more

Would love to know how they justify charging so much money these days, especially when they've shut down almost all of the Eagles Nests. They were particularly unhelpful multiple times and at multiple locations when I was verrrry pregnant: they will bag for older people, but the run away if a pregnant woman (especially one with a toddler, which could really use the help) approaches. Can't understand why they have the oldest slowest old ladies working the beer register. They (giant eagle) must get a tax write off for hiring from the local senior home. I was in line once and a woman behind me left go to customer service to speak with a manager. When the woman came back she said the manager would be over. When the manager showed up (she) looked at all of us in line and asked what the problem was? Not realizing that we had been there for 20 minutes while their senior was wondering around looking for her lost baby doll from her childhood. Sad, this place could be so much better read more

Probably going to be the Giant Eagle that we are going to shop at. Living in the city, I have learned that there are just some places I despise shopping at and they are the Southside Ghetto Eagle and the Shadyside Market District. There is ample parking, it is clean, the staff is friendly, they have a wines and spirits attached, and it seems like they actually rotate their items appropriately when restocking. I think I saw more people actually working in this store than I ever have in any GE location. We had placed some deli catering orders for a work event and the staff was exceptional. At the check out, the girl was awesome and so friendly... a far cry from what we have experienced at the local Market District. I will be back... soon. read more

The last time I was there the deli slicer that was used to slice my order was filthy. The deli attendant used it anyway. When I asked someone who said they were the manager that person said the slicers were only cleaned at specific intervals and not after each use. There have been several occasions there when I find items that are not on sale positioned directly under or in front of "sale" signs and if you don't pay close attention you will get a much higher bill than you anticipated. This has happened on several occasions in the meat department. read more

This is probably the best Giant Eagle that I've found so far. + Big parking lot (even though it does get crowded at times) + (Small but handy) liquor store inside + Big produce department + Big aisles, so multiple people and their carts can fit + Good selection of prepared food + Helpful staff - Long lines at the deli at times - Crowded on Sundays (but this is true for all Giant Eagles) Overall though, it's worth it to this city girl to make the trek out to the suburbs to go to this Giant Eagle instead of our teeny tiny one in Squirrel Hill. read more

This is not my favorite Giant Eagle. It has a weird parking lot and is always extremely busy inside. The registers are set up in a fashion that the lines block the ailes and it is hard to get through. I only really go to this store if I have to pick up something quick. The positive things are that there is a liquor store, drive thru pharmacy service, and a get go. This makes it very convenient to get all my shopping finished and fill the tank. This store is always very clean as well! They always seem to be cleaning the bathrooms and the fresh produce section. I would reccomend this store but be prepared to fight the crowds. read more

I love this Giant Eagle. Everything is clean and we'll stocked every day of the week. The staff is so friendly and helpful, even in the middle of the night when there's no one really there. One time I was shopping for a frozen vegetarian item that they didn't have and a man asked what I was looking for, and said he was the person who decides what they sell... I usually don't do reviews, but I just had to. I just moved to the North Hill in PA. from New York. I was feeling very lonely that is until I went into a Giant Eagle grocery store it said store 0045 on my receipt. It was later in the evening, and I began to shop the store was quiet. I purchased much more than I planned to. When I got to the point where I was checking out, I met so many wonderful employees it was amazing to me how quickly I had actually found friends in complete strangers. The lady bagging welcomed me to the store and told me how glad she was I came in. The cashier supplied me with a complimentary card to get the discounts. As I left, they both told me to come back and see them again. I certainly will I said. Sometimes I wonder why individuals choose to complain about trivial things. Put yourself in my place a new city a strange area and it was all made great by just a few caring individuals. TY read more

Worst pharmacy I have ever attempted to deal with. Pharmacists don't pay any attention to what they are doing and even less to their patients, even when my special needs child gets prescriptions filled weekly or more. They refuse to listen or even look at their records about potentially deadly items that they have been informed of multiple times. After far too many times having to be reminded that oral meds, due to the syrup they are in, could have serious consequences for my son they still recommend we switch him to it every time we get meds. Well we are done with that, we switched pharmacies instead. read more

This is a very nice Giant Eagle. There are important aspects about a grocery store in PA. The place is huge and will accomodate many tastes. They have a wide selection of pre-made food. The biggest thing is that there is a wine and liquor store located within the store. This is HUGE in my opinion for a PA Grocery store. I love this Giant Eagle. I think it's one of the brightest and new-est feeling ones in my area. The stock is great, produce always looks appealing (though I can never find the kale), and the Wine and Spirits usually has a good selection. Only drawback with the stock is Wednesdays (the day before specials change) and Sundays - those are the days when it seems a little less-plentiful, though the shelves are never bare by any means. The checkout lines usually move pretty quickly and there's always someone around to help with the self-service lanes. The parking lot has ample space and the cart corrals are rarely over-flowing. The prices are pretty competitive with other places, if not better because it's a bigger buyer than say, the Kuhn's down the street. I love the eCoupons you can load on to your Advantage Card that you can use in tandem with a manufacturer coupon (they double those up to $.99!) They also send store coupons once or twice a month to my house that you can use with manufacturer coupons as well. $10 a future shopping trip? $1 fresh produce? Please and thank you. I'm a huge fan of their new beer market. Installation was completed in a day it seems and it leaves their dining area much more open and inviting. And the selection is pretty rockstar for such a small space. I found some great Belgians to take to a holiday party as well as a hard root beer that I've only ever seen at another well-known place to grab six packs over in Regent Square (though it's possible I just wasn't aware of the product so I've seen it around and it just didn't register). The grab-and-go selection is great if you're in a rush and want lunch or dinner already done for you. I love their wraps and the sushi is great. read more

This is my local Giant Eagle but I avoid it at all costs. There's a very rude lady named Bonnie who works at the customer service counter. She is extremely rude and makes up her own policies that do not align with Giant Eagles. I've had several occasions where I called Giant Eagle before heading to the store and every time if Bonnie is working she says the opposite of what I was told on the phone. This is my preferred Giant Eagle, even though it is 15 miles from my house. I make the trek here because it never overcrowds, the cashiers know what they're doing, and I can always find the GE brand whole wheat bagels my wife likes (surprisingly, they're not ubiquitous across the chain). Also, the produce is generally superior to the stuff found in city stores. If I'm going to shop at GE, this is probably the best one in the area. read more

Ugh. Usually this Giant Eagle isn't bad. A plus is that it has a liquor store in it! I went grocery shopping on a Monday night at about 10:30. One cashier! The rest were self checkouts. I prefer self checkout when I'm only getting a few items, but when I'm doing full-scale grocery shopping I don't want to have to stop scanning multiple times so I can bag groceries to get them out of the way! Since the registers weigh everything you also can't scan your cat litter and just put it back in the cart. You have to put it on the belt. Sometimes technology isn't so convenient. By the time I left I was thoroughly irritated. read more

I just had an extremely confused cashier named Michael L. argue with me for approximately 5 minutes, trying to tell me that I haven't yet paid for my groceries. After telling him about 8 times that I had in fact paid using Apple Pay and that the screen was indicating that I was to wait for the cashier.. he kept telling me that I still had to pay. Which was rather embarrassing in front of the other customers.. Maybe some better training in that field is in order? I've worked in the service industry for several years, and this type of customer service is just not acceptable. Even after he realized that I was right, he rudely shoved the receipt at me, and glared until I walked away from the register. Other than that, the rest of the staff was helpful, and kind. read more

I agree with other reviewers that Giant Eagle, in general is over priced. Just 2 weeks ago, I bought basic coleslaw for 97 cents. Today, I went to purchase some more slaw. There was no price below the bag, yet I purchased it anyway. The price? $2.97! I have noticed this "trick" on many other items. If there is no price, you can assume it is VERY over priced. The store is clean and they have a good selection of produce (all over priced, of course). read more
