My fiance and I love doing ghost tours on our vacations, especially in cities we know have a huge "haunted presence." We were excited to check out Saint Augustine's version of ghost tour and also decided to add a pub crawl into it. We booked Saturday night with our tour guide, Q. We showed up and had a very small group of people that we were touring with - which was great because we all got to know each other and our tour guide. Our tour guide was very informative about Saint Augustine and the stories that he told. He directed us to several busy pubs - with history behind them, where we quickly got drinks and listened to his stories. I have been on other ghost tours in the past and would have liked to check out "non-bar" locations that were haunted, but I get that we were in the pub crawl version. There were some questions that we asked our tour guide that he didn't know the answers to - which made me a little skeptical that he was "acting" and not actually as knowledgeable as it portrayed. Great way to spend an evening in St Augustine! We tried to get a 9:30 pm tour but it was sold out. There was a cancellation for the 8pm tour so we took it. These tours are very popular. Met our guide at the old schoolhouse. Morgan was our tour guide and she was spectacular! The tour was historic and a little spooky. Several people in our group had ghostly images they captured during our tour. The tour spanned several historic sites within an easy walkable area. Morgan was a great storyteller and made the tour very interesting. 25.00 per person and well worth it. Will definitely be doing again. read more

I have been on many ghost tours in St Augustine over the past five years. This was the first time that I took this particular tour which I purchased on Groupon. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable of the history of St Augustine and was a good story teller. We made several stops along the two hour tour but I was disappointed that we did not go inside any buildings. This tour is strictly outside. But I did hear a few new stories that I had never heard on other ghost tours which was pretty cool. The tour started accross the street from Flagler College and ended at the old Cemetery beside the visitor center. This was very convenient as most people park in the parking garage behind the visitors center. I would recommend this tour to those with children or folks that do not drink alcohol. If you do not have children and enjoy adult beverages I would suggest the pub crawl ghost tour. read more

Big waste of money!! Our tour guide DEREK catered to two girls the entire tour. One girl literally chased him down every time we walked somehwere new. As Derek was talking this girl was mouthing every single word he would say. Derek did not care one bit about the other 20 people in the tour and only cared about these two girls. There is a sailing tour and a trolley tour, but we chose to take the walking tour and really enjoyed it. Our guide was very engaging and knowledgeable, and was clearly interested in the material being presented. It was more than just a tour, it was a sort of performance art. Our tour started in the late evening at ended in the dark, and was just the right amount of time to engage our interest without tiring us out. Please stay in school providing you're not studying acting. Wow. To their credit each stayed in character but it was an overall disappointment as we booked the latest ride at 945 PM to get the full feel of the tour. These tours sell out over and over again. I have done this walking tour twice now, once many many years ago and again this past weekend (9/7/2019). Our tour guide was Cathy, who was very knowledgeable of the area and was able to answer any questions you had along the way. While it's definitely "not scary" it's entertaining and you get to learn more about the history and some stories of the oldest city in America. I heard new stories that I didn't remember from my first time. You won't be entering any locations just FYI, you'll be guided around on the streets outside and in front of each place/story. You'll start nearby Flagler College / Lightner Museum. You will be walking a lot so comfortable shoes are a must. My boyfriend got bit a little from mosquitos (it is Florida after all) so maybe plan ahead and spritz some bug repellent beforehand or bring some with you if you are prone to getting bit. Since you'll be outside the entire time I suggest to dress for the weather. It was pretty humid our night we ventured out. We just got back from our trip & took a look at the pictures taken at each site and we actually saw a shadowy figure of a man wearing a hat possibly holding an instrument or something in an empty second floor of Scarlett O'Hara's :0 never know what you might come across :) I recommend if you're looking for a light hearted, not too serious ghost tour that is also kid friendly. read more

This is a unique date night idea! If you enjoy historical St Augustine and have heard rumors about all of the paranormal experiences people have encountered here, definitely take this really fun and interesting tour. The ticket office is located on St George Street and is only $12.00! There are many ghost tours in St Augustine as it has been deemed one of the '10 most haunted cities', but this is a little less touristy than some of the other attractions of the same nature. There was a lot of historical information and a lot of great spooky encounter stories! I loved it! Note: The tour is at night, and wear your comfortable shoes as you do walk quite a bit. Oh my gosh, this was awful, horrible and completely worthless! I have belonged to a paranormal research group for years and I like to go on these tours mostly for the fun stories and to scope out places for us to investigate later. This guy was totally nuts! He skipped about in a random sort of way warbling about how you could catch lots of pictures of ghosts on your camera because they materialized as orbs ( argh, orbs are dust, insects or water) then he told everyone to use Ouija boards because they were " really cool". He couldn't tell a decent story to save his life! My husband and I just walked away and left before I blacked out from rolling my eyes! Booked just a couple hours before the actually ghost tour after reviewing all the ghost tours offered in the area. Picked this one because they had the best coupon and were supposedly featured on the travel channel and the discovery channel. Gail was our tour guide and she was terrible. Bless her heart. She'd walk around and tell stories and say "I don't really know" or "I'm not sure, but I want to find out". Everything she said sounded so rehearsed. Well, I was definitely entertained for my random night stay in St. Augustine. I know most people think that this tour is cheesy and gimmicky, but it certainly was nice to not be on your feet in the humid Florida weather with the misquotes flying around you at night. For the record, I did the Trolley Tour and in my opinion it was worth the money. We went to a graveyard, toured the wax museum at night, and did a stint in the old jail house. I was only there for one night, so to at least go to all these places in the span of two hours and not have to pay admission was worth it to me. The side banter between our tour guide and the other guides while a little extra was entertaining, and they did a good job at scaring us as a group and keeping us engaged. I'm not sure how well the other tours are, but mine was overall an enjoyable experience. Would repeat. read more

I like to travel but when I do, I usually am not a tourist who does touristy things like walking through touristy shops, hanging out in touristy crowds or signing up for more touristy tours. While walking through the touristy Spanish Quarter however, I decided it would be fun to go on the ghost tour of St. Augustine. I have always been fascinated by the idea of ghosts and seeing the wonderful history of St. Augustine after seeing the Castillo de San Marcos (for more info, read my review on that,) I wanted to learn more. I have always been interested in paranormal things so I decided to check out this tour. First off, we got on a tourbus with a tour guide dressed in olden day clothing and the driver. I will not get into which sites we saw and the specific ghost stories because I don't want to spoil the tour. It consisted though of the tour guide pointing out old houses and structures and telling ghost stories about them. We also stopped a few times in a few areas to look around and possibly see some ghosts. I did not see any but I heard that when you take photos of a ghost, you may not see it in the naked eye but you will see it on camera. I have to give my photos a second glance. As other reviewers have noted, this would be a great date idea as long as your date is not scared of ghosts. I find this really fascinating and whether ghosts are real or not, this tour certainly pops the question and also sheds light on the mysterious aura of St. Augustine (or should I say it makes it even more mysterious.) Overall, it was very nice looking at the old buildings, looking for ghosts and seeing the mysteries of St. Augustine. I bet doing this tour on Halloween would be quite fun! read more

Yes, yes, yes. This is a cheesy touristy tour, but what would you expect? My husband and I travel a lot (Navy) and wherever we go, there seems to be a ghost tour offered. We always go. And, we love it. We took the walking tour with Arliss (sp?) and it was a nice time. She told nice stories and since we had kids in our tour, she made it extra special for them by using effects and allowing them to participate. I don't understand people giving this 1 star. Do you really expect to see ghosts? It is a TOURIST attraction. The stories, legends, and actors are wonderful and for people who like participating in these sorts of touristy things, this is well worth the $20 something dollars. read more

This ghost tour was incredible! Tops to Dusti, our tour guide, she was very sweet and informative, along with being very joking. The tour went through several creepy places, and I even got pictures of massive orbs. Dusti and the rest of our tour group were all very kind and joking, even those that I was very skeptical about. I couldn't believe the things that I learned about Saint Augustine. A few times, I seriously jumped and got chills up my spine. I was very interested to learn that I was one of the few that found a particular window at one of the sights very eerie and strange. Dusti was very open to questions about the history of the current location we were at and questions about the pictures we've taken. A few times during the tour, most of us jumped, and learned some strange and unnerving facts. Not that that's a bad thing! I think that the tour was well worth the money. The walking aspect of it got some of us out and it was more interactive than the other trolley tours: After the tour, we were even allowed to mess with the dowsing rods! Never thought a ghost tour could be so boring. Our guide Gail started off the tour with about 5-10 minutes of pictures from previous tours that all had some oddities or abnormalities in them. It was a bit corny but my wife I had three of our kids with us and didn't mind it much. Once the tour started at our first stop Gail started to tell a ghost story about a famous hotel and Henry Flagler. At this point, 10 minutes in, I could already tell it wasn't going to be a good night. Gail had a light mumbling voice, was a terrible storyteller, and even skipped a vital section of a story about Henry's first wife dying and him getting remarried. I am assuming this because she said his wife got sick and he hired a nurse, then started talking about how the nurse messed up her life married to one of the richest men at that time and went mad and got locked in a room. Multiple times she would stand there pausing for like 10 seconds to think about what she had said. After the second stop my kids were bored and begging to just leave the group. After the third stop my wife and I discussed it, but decided to wait and see if at the cemeteries things got better. They did not. More of the same mumbling, haltingly told, mostly unfollowable storytelling. Then at the end she had the nerve to mention that tips were appreciated, and she was doing a different, more expensive tour on the weekends. Call me a skeptic if you want, but my fiance and I found this ghost tour to be a little boring and cheesy. They start with the disclaimer that they are not allowed to make up any stories, then proceed to tell you countless stories of hauntings that the other tour guides experienced. They tell you to take lots of pictures and that the orbs and lights in the pictures are actually spirits trying to form. Our guide also warned that even though the orbs will have cartoony looking faces in them that they are real. And yes I found plenty of orbs in my photographs however I also found the same orbs when I took pictures of any part of the city or even directly over the water, when the tour guide said I would specifically find them over the cemeteries because they were haunted. I know we're all looking for some big spooky paranormal experience but don't keep your hopes too high. If you are going to go then make sure you focus on the historical information they give you, because that is actually the interesting part. read more

This review is for the "Original Ghostly Experience Haunted Tour" with Stuart, aka "Captain". Put simply, this was one of the worst tours we've ever taken. Almost none of what was promised in the tour description was delivered. There was very little talk of ghosts, paranormal activity or haunted history of any kind. Our guide, Stuart, spent most of the evening flirting with a group of women in our tour. Several people defected from the tour along the way, as it was boring, dry, and not what people were there to hear. We essential visited the main sites of St. Augustine (the Plaza, the waterfront, the fort and a cemetery) where Stuart told us what we were looking at, chatted up the ladies, and then we moved on. He also included stories involving cocaine, affairs and his personal conquests over females during his many years. All this, despite the 5 children in our tour group. ("Daddy, what's cocaine?") At the end, he was sure to ask everyone to fill his hat with tips, since he was "working so hard for us". If you're looking for a tour that actually tells historical stories of hauntings or ghosts activity, look elsewhere, or be sure you don't get Stuart/Captain. The lighthouse has an excellent nighttime tour called "Dark of the Moon". We booked this tour through City Walks, and I've also posted this review at their Yelp profile. However, it's important to note that City Walks offers many different tours, and has many different tour guides. Your experience will vary immensely depending on what you take and who you get. We've taken other tours with them with better results. I would bet the same is likely true of Ghost Tours of St. Augustine. read more

St. Augustine has many ghost tours, but this one is the best. I tried the one by carriage and although the ride was wonderful, it did not feel as spooky. I felt more vulnerable standing next to a graveyard in the dark, which made the chilling tales much more frightening. Walking also gives you more opportunities to take photographs in hopes of capturing an orb or two. Unfortunately, I did not remember my camera, but the woman next to me recorded two intriguing images that were clearly not visible to the human eye! read more

They have two accounts with reviews that leads them to the same company. The other account has all terrible reviews. I wish I would have seen it before I booked our ride. As far as our visit, I really want others to know that they need to seek out another tour and forget this one. I can't speak for the walking tour, but if they use the same tour guides and I suspect that they do.....than I can tell you that our guide, Karen ....had simply terrible acting to the point that we found ourselves wanting off before it really got started. It was a TOTAL WASTE of our money and time. The tour guide was obnoxiously loud, didn't know her tales, spoke to fast and couldn't entertain even in a manner that could be found interesting. I was on this tour last year and was treated to a great historical and ghostly event. The guide lead us around certain parts of St Augustine and told the stories that kept our minds thinking and pictures snapping. THIS YEAR - a whole other tour, same company with "horrific" consequences. The guide led us to characters who were apparently put there to tell a story about their deaths with great pomp and circumstance. Talk about commercialization - they forgot that we were on a tour to learn about the mad, insane and still haunting reasons why St Augustine is considered one of the most haunted places in the south. Even more shocking was our guide told stories that were not even haunt based, I mean do I really need to know on a ghost tour that the streets in certain places have no curbs!
