We took the Creepy Pub Crawl tour with Brian and it was great! He kept us entertained and laughing throughout the night. His skills for seeking out spirits are unmatched throughout the city. He was also able to offer some tips for the best haunts to frequent in the area, which we greatly appreciated. We stopped at 4 bars throughout the ~2 hour tour and all of them were unique experiences. A special was offered at each stop and there were plenty of options at each venue. There were a few additional stops along the way for some spooky stories. My husband and I went on the St. Augustine Pub Crawl. The number of people on this trip varies (the night before us, there were 10+ people on the tour - we ran into two of the past crawlers at a pub during our own tour, who excitedly told us that their tour group had bought 3/4 of a bottle at the final pub - and finished it), and for our night, we ended up being the only two people who signed up. This worried me initially, but this tour ended up being a blast. Lynn, our personal pub history guru, was knowledgeable and a ton of fun. The trip takes you to four (or more - we had an additional stop at a wine tasting area) different pubs (with an included alcoholic beverage at each stop), where your guide tells you a little about the history of St. Augustine and the bar itself. Our own tour ended up turning into an awesome evening of story-swapping with a woman who has done it all in life (dolphin training, Peace Corp, and more). We ended up with a substantial amount of knowledge about St. Augustine's history, but we also got to know Lynn and had a great time out with her on the tour. All in all, I'd say this was our best investment on our trip to St. Augustine. I highly recommend the St. Augustine Pub Crawl! read more

My fiance and I did the food walking tour and it was fantastic. We got a groupon and decided to try the tour while we were in town for a couple of days. It was a fantastic deal and I'd highly suggest it. Even though it was super hot being in July, going from restaurant to restaurant made it bearable. There were six stops total, four restaurants and two food specialty shops. All of them were great places. There was a great mix of history and eating. Our guide Shawna was great. She was extremely knowledgeable about St. Augustine and a joy to walk with. She is obviously a people person and really made this tour. By the end you will definitely be full so do not do this tour right after eating! read more

Murder and Mystery and Mayhem and oh yeah history. How can this tour not be fun?! If the tour guide doesn't play into it, it won't be as entertaining. It's all about the delivery! I've been on tours before and perhaps that had set my expectations a bit too high. The tour I had done before had an enthusiastic guide and lasted a bit longer. This tour was good. But was somewhat short or at least felt that way because the tour lacked flow. I really liked that the guide did not end back were we had started, which was a bit out of the way. I also enjoyed all the historical stories. Additionally, the guide was very nice. However, I personally would have preferred a bit more mayhem or murder or mystery... Our tour had one story to cover all three of those areas. I would probably give it another shot. All and all it was a great walk about town with a local! read more

BORING and BORING!! Gayle? was our tour guide for the ghost tour. Sweet old lady. But, could barely hear her and the stories were drawn out without much substance. Most of them, it seemed were made up about people from the past and not scary at all. When asked which office was Henry Flagler's at the Casa Monica, she didn't even know. Proved she didn't really know what she was talking about. There were some mentioning of ghosts. But, after struggling to stay awake, my wife and I left the group and went to a local bar and heard much more interesting stories about the past in St. Augustine. Only good part was that the Groupon was not at full price. Recommend that if you go, take your No-doze first and just enjoy the hopefully nice evening. read more

Walking on the haunted pub crawl...get there early...Yes, it was way too hot to be walking around St. Augustine at night, but our tour guide Zachary made it very informative as we learned the city has a lot of skeletons in its closet, literally. Starting at Al's Pizza (stunning pizza works here) we learned of the immediate history of the grounds and the historic gateway to the city, which was a cemetery. Dispensing electronic gadgets designed to measure changes in the vicinity, Zachary told us what they did in locating ghosts and the differences in hauntings. With more than a few useful stories to contribute, as well as some business commentary too, our guide took us up the road to the Milltop Tavern, then to a cigar bar, and lastly to The Backyard Pub. I thought the tour was too short, but it was informative as well as interesting to see the devices go off every now and then. read more

Be careful to ensure the meeting location on your confirmation is correct. We booked 2 tours with City Walks, and both addresses on both of our confirmations were incorrect. City Walks purchased some tours from another tour group, but not all booking engines had updated their information. We were sent on a goose chase for our first tour, so for the second tour we called ahead and were again told we had the wrong address. As far as the tours go, the Haunted Pub Crawl was really fun, and Mills was a really good guide. The Haunted Walking Tour was pretty lame, and though Will had a lot of information, the delivery was pretty dry and boring. I felt like I was in school. We spent so much time standing around listening to him. I've been on a lot of tours around the country, and for whatever reason I'm still searching for a really good ghost tour in St. Augustine. This just wasn't it...but if you're going to pick one, I'd pick the Haunted Pub Crawl over the Walking Tour simply for more engagement with the same amount of historical information. I think next time around we're going to bite the bullet and spend $80 for a real paranormal tour. read more

My husband and I tried this out while in St. Augustine. We went on a night when a paranormal investigator was with us. Our tour guide and the paranormal investigator were both great and entertaining, I really enjoyed them being our tour guides. It really wasn't that long ago we went (a month ago) but I just can't remember her name. You get a free house beer at Ann O'Malleys or 1 dollar off mixed drinks. We chose Shocktop. A lot of the other places give you discounts on drinks. The stories are good, the places you visit are nice, and it's worth the price. I really enjoyed this and it was a great little vacation-y thing to do. read more

This review is for City Walks "Creepy Crawly Pub Crawl" taken June 2014: The best part about the City Walk Creepy Crawly Pub Crawl was that it got me out of my St. Augustine rut! I tend to have my favorites and *only* go to those selective few places in St. Augustine. As a result, St. Augustine has gotten a little dry because I don't branch out and take a chance to be stimulated by visiting new venues. For instance, I NEVER would have entered The Old Milltop Tavern and seen their charming fairy garden tree house! The Milltop Tavern built their patio around a spindly tree whose branches seemed to want to embrace its visitors while decorated with white Christmas lights. From the bottom level of the patio you have a front row view of the old fort across the street and we were blessed by seeing the fort framed by a rising full moon! The patio has a ladder to climb to the second story and one instantly feels like you're playing in a tree house! There was live music being played on the bottom level AND on the top! I was especially smitten with the acoustic guitarist playing a slow rendition of the theme song to The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Our guide was named Mills and he was HILARIOUS! He told a lot of off-the-cuff jokes playing off the interruptions from traffic, the audience, or his coworkers. The FUNNIEST thing he did that night was when he warned us, "If you see someone that's eavesdropping in on our stories, I'm going to start speaking gibberish like another language." Soon enough a couple stopped to eavesdrop and Mills seamlessly began speaking in his "Mandarin Chinese." It was really funny! At one point he started laughing and it was our cue as the audience to respond to his "joke." We all started laughing---which only fueled MORE genuine laughter! The gasoline was soon thrown on our funny bone and we couldn't control our raucous laughter! We just couldn't! It was just the funniest thing ever! Eventually Mills turned to the folks and said that this was a paid tour by City Walks for their "Mandarin" group and if they were interested they too could sign up around the corner. It was probably the best part of the evening. The second stop was Stogies Jazz Club & Cigar Bar. Instead of socializing with the other participants there, we chose to zone out and listen to music outside by the fire-pit and absorb the atmosphere while enjoying a Jeffe Blonde Ale. There was so much GREAT live music on the tour! In fact, the least interesting part of the entire Creepy Crawly Pub Crawl was the supernatural angle. It was all rather forgettable with the "Take a photograph of a dark room and let's see if you see a floating orb" etc. If one is really interested in a GREAT historic tour with a fascinating storyteller, then I highly recommend Sherrif's Ghost Walk Tour. (See my other review.) I MAY have also snuck off from the group to buy a Hyppo pop while we were stopped for a ghost story by one of the houses. (I highly recommend the Horchata Popsicle there!) The last stop on the tour was an Irish Pub RIGHT across Inlet and it was lovely inside. I drank a Honey Whiskey while sitting on the balcony with a big group from our tour. It was nice that by the end of the evening everyone was socializing and paling around together. It's interesting because the Pub Crawl wasn't ANYTHING like I thought it would be. To me it seemed like a tour of little known gems in St. Augustine with fantastic live music you can drink by. It was an especially GREAT deal because we bought a groupon for the tour! I had planned the evening based off a British Pub Crawl. We had dinner first at The King's Head and then went on the Pub Crawl with my family. EVERYBODY had a great time! If you're looking to get out of YOUR St. Augustine rut too, or just want an evening of fun, I highly recommend this tour! read more

Loved how the guide. .squeezed in you can tip me at the end of her speech. in the beginning after explaining how the tour would go...so quickly it reminded me of commercials when the guy speaks lightening fast! Still trying to figure out why I paid for stopping outside the buildings and getting not..even ghostly stories at all...we jumped ship...the tour and did our exploring Plus side it was a gorgeous evening.. But seriously if your not even going to go more than the sidewalk and the lame stories.with someone who is clearly bored..and no sounds like the poor person in the drive through "want fries with that?"....google..and take your own walking tour..of this great history filled city.. read more

The only good part of our day in St. Augustine. Stephanie was an excellent tour guide for the Haunted/Creepy pub tour. Unlike guides elsewhere, she was both funny and didn't seem to be rehearsed at all - everything felt natural with her. There is one major issue, though: one of the bars was a cigar bar, where you get a free cigar with a beer purchase. Thus, the place smelled absolutely awful and it was hard to breathe. Nowhere was this advertised that we were going to a place with that much smoke. For some people, this means they'd only get to go to three out of the four bars. We went in but couldn't breathe on either floor, instead opting to sweat outside. Good tour, but the potential smoking pub needs to be advertised. read more

We attended the Original "Ghostly Experience" tour recently after purchasing a voucher on Groupon. I'm glad we didn't pay full price - absolutely not worth $20 per person, but it was a decent experience at a reduced cost. The guide was personable and the tour started on time, but we covered very little ground in what I expected to be a city chock full of interesting historical people, events, and places--pirates, executions, sorrowful family situations, old cemeteries... Except for the tales at Flagler College, most of the guide's stories were along the lines of "sometimes you'll see an old man in the bushes if you photograph this building, but nobody knows who he is" and "this one time, my friend heard her bathroom door open and close but nobody was there." Good folks, but would not recommend for anyone looking for truly scary tales or interesting history, and would definitely not suggest attending for the advertised price. read more

This review is for the "Original Ghostly Experience Haunted Tour" with Stuart, aka "Captain". Put simply, this was one of the worst tours we've ever taken. Almost none of what was promised in the tour description was delivered. There was very little talk of ghosts, paranormal activity or haunted history of any kind. Our guide, Stuart, spent most of the evening flirting with a group of women in our tour. Several people defected from the tour along the way, as it was boring, dry, and not what people were there to hear. We essential visited the main sites of St. Augustine (the Plaza, the waterfront, the fort and a cemetery) where Stuart told us what we were looking at, chatted up the ladies, and then we moved on. He also included stories involving cocaine, affairs and his personal conquests over females during his many years. All this, despite the 5 children in our tour group. ("Daddy, what's cocaine?") At the end, he was sure to ask everyone to fill his hat with tips, since he was "working so hard for us". If you're looking for a tour that actually tells historical stories of hauntings or ghosts activity, look elsewhere, or be sure you don't get Stuart/Captain. The lighthouse has an excellent nighttime tour called "Dark of the Moon". It's important to note that City Walks offers many different tours, and has many different tour guides. Your experience will vary immensely depending on what you take and who you get. We've taken other tours with them with better results. read more

My husband and I took the creepy crawl pub tour with our host Ray (we call him Ray J) We started at Al's pizza (didn't eat here but wish we had) and we were given our first drink of the night free. We hung around there until it was time to on the tour. We made several stops along the way (cemetery, the fort, and a few pubs), at each stop we got fun and informational stories. It was $15 a person & I thought the title "Haunted Pub Crawl" meant you would be hitting bars till you were crawling back to your hotel, it does not! Did the walking tour on our second night in town. Heidi was our guide and she was fantastic. One of the downsides of this tour is the noise associated with walking. In certain areas we couldn't hear her speak. We had a larger crowd, around 25 people. Heidi did her best to make sure everyone could hear her. Another downside is the fact that it seems like every tour tells the same stories. On our walk, we ran into 3 other tours. We will use city walks again for another tour. If you are thinking between trolleys and walking, take a walking. It's much more intimate. read more

During our last week living in FL, my fiancé and I decided to take a mini vaca to St. Augustine and we booked tickets for the Haunted Pub crawl! Our guide was "The Captain," and he was wonderful! We started out with a group of about 15 people party (including a terrible bachelorette party), but by the end of the night we had 6 people (the bachelorette girls got into a fight and left, taking an annoyed couple with them). That's truly my only negative to this. We both really loved our guide and I getting all the old information about the town. With each stop, the bar we went to had specials for our group. We went on the Savory Faire tour with Mia as our guide. We had a very small group (just 4 of us total) and we had an absolute blast! The tour guide was funny and friendly and the walk was not bad at all. You get to try out tasty treats from several different places and from what we were told the places and foods change daily. We booked the Original Ghostly Experience Haunted Tour because our children ages 6-10 wanted a fun, creepy, ghostly entertaining experience. The kids were bored out of their minds! They quietly begged at each stop if we could just leave. Our tour guide was sweet and did her best at telling the stories but the stories were very long and boring and at best maybe had a small detail about how people today sometimes see a "spiritual entity". The environment isn't even creepy at all. We went on a Saturday night, the tour is located downtown amongst lots of bars, noisy traffic, cars driving by with very loud music and drunks screaming obscenities at the tour group. My child asked "What did he just yell? Monk you?" "Yup, that's what he said." They say this is kid friendly but it is not. If you want to hear a history lesson, then maybe this is the tour for you. If you want a fun, ghostly, haunted experience, don't waste your money. read more
