I went on a walking tour of St. Augustine last week which took us by Flagler College but not inside. Today I decided to take the one hour tour inside Flagler College. It was a great decision and I really enjoyed it. Kayla and Donna were the tour guides and did a great job. We met in the rotunda and began the tour in the Flagler Room. It is a beautiful space that was originally the women's parlor. There are eleven Tiffany chandeliers in the room. We next went to the outside courtyard to learn about the hotel rooms/residence hall and outside features. Once back inside we learned about the rotunda. Our final destination was the beautiful dining hall with all of the stained glass windows and painted ceiling.

I taken this tour twice, and both were equally great and slightly different. I went while the ladies lounge was closed due to possible water damage, and after when the new dining room chandelier was installed. Different students let the tour each time and did a super job. Remember to give your guide a tip at the end, beer and college parties won't fund themselves! Highly recommend.

Front courtyard. The fountain is actually a sundial. The tower coming out of the water is said to imitate the hilt of a sword.

We absolutely loved this tour! A real life Harry Potter/Hogwarts kind of feeling. Mia lead our tour and she was absolutely fantastic. The way she delivered each story had us hanging onto every word, excited to hear what else she was going to tell say. We left the college feeling so informed about all the paintings and many architectural designs, most of which left us speechless. So much we wouldn't have known had we not taken this tour. Highly recommend!!

We had a great tour of Flagler College this morning. Our tour guide was Kit. He did a great job, although there was construction noise near the rotunda meeting area that was deafening at times. The architecture is fabulous and the history is interesting. To think that this property, which is so ornate & reminiscent of Harry Potter, is an active student campus is pretty amazing.

The school is amazing by looking at it, so beautiful building and inside the hall is also very impressive. We also walked a bit in the campus, it's bigger than we thought. Nice place!

Great tour with Ryan! Kept it lively and informative. Very cool to hear the inside scoop from college students about what it's like to be on campus at such a historic site. Beautiful building - they don't make them like this anymore. Would have been cool to see a guest room and/or an additional guest facility.

The tour is really worth your time if you are in to history and architecture. The grounds and the building are so beautiful and it has a rich history. Incredible original pieces in there from Tiffany and Edison. The tour was only 45 minutes in length, so it will not eat up your day and you will leave there happy that you visited.

Great tour through this amazing building! Our guide (Kate) was great. The tour group was small enough that we could all ask as many questions as we wanted. She explained in detail the history of the building, architectural features, and the current use (freshman dorms!) It's def a must see if you're in Saint Augustine!

Wow. Wow wow and wow. To see the amazing craftsmanship and learn some of the history about this once incredible hotel is a must when in town.

Great Tour, beautiful grounds, Student tour-guide was pleasant and informative, campus air conditioned and kept quite cool (welcomed) so much history in walking distance, a great place to continue education

Definitely worth it! My husband and I went to St. Augustine last weekend for the first time, and one of the highlights of the weekend for us was this tour of Flagler College! The college was formerly the Hotel Ponce de Leon, built by railroad magnate Henry Flagler in 1888 (who is responsible for quite a bit of the fantastic architecture in this surprising beach town) and is a National Historic Landmark. The tour is about 45 minutes and is led by a current student of Flagler College. Our tour guide was a charming sophomore student whose voice carried SO well and was funny and bright. She walked our (quite large) group through four areas of the college - the courtyard outside, the lobby, the dining room, and the Flagler Room (formerly the Women's Grand Parlor). So you only see a few rooms, but you learn a lot about the hotel, the times (very popular in the late 1800s), and the college. Well worth the $10 fee (which supports the school)! I highly recommend you take this tour if it's your first visit to St. Augustine!

We gathered at the storefront, and almost immediately my dog started acting confused and scared. He's an 80 lb pitbull, and get doesn't really get scared of anything. At one point, he lept into my husband's arms (a move solely used at the vet's office). As soon as all of the patrons had arrived, Scott, our storyteller, told us about a little ghost girl Lily that lives in that building. She will often play with marbles and a doll in that same room. My husband and I have no doubt that she was petting the dog and that's what freaked him out. It was a great beginning to our ghost tour for sure. Scott then spent the next 2 hours taking us from place to place telling us about ghost encounters in the buildings that we were standing in front of. He was immersed in the history of St Augustine, even being a volunteer archaeologist and helping move parts of history. His storytelling skills were second to none. Even our dog, who had walked ALL day long around St Augustine, stayed close to Scott trying to listen to the stories and was excited as we moved to each place. It was a slow paced tour so you don't have to worry about being physically fit to partake. It was a well-spent 2 hours that my husband and I truly enjoyed. The dog enjoyed it too, except for being petted by the ghost Lily. We highly recommend this tour! Thank you, Scott, for such a fun adventure!

His ghost stories were right on par and none of that tacky paranormal equipment or fabricated sightings. We were lucky enough to be the only 2 souls who signed up this particular Thursday. He could have cancelled, rushed through the tour or lost interest due to our group size but this was NOT the case. At one point, we steered questions towards the general history of St Augustine and there wasn't a single question he could not answer! I would highly recommend this tour to everyone, family or just adults.

Walking tour operator…read more I took the opportunity to join my kids school trip to St. Augustine as a chaperone and as part of that, the school engaged Ancient City Tours as our guide for the day. The guide we had was Matt. Matt with the hat to be exact- because, you guessed it, he wore a hat. Easy to find if you were lagging behind - and easy to remember. Matt and his Hat made the day memorable- he certainly knew a lot of the St. Augustine history and was able to keep all the group engaged- kids, adults and even the teachers. He was super flexible with our group and overall, he made the day much better than I could have done on my own. Shout out to Matt and the Ancient City Tours team.

The ghost tour was especially amazing--she even gave my son a small device to help detect ghost activity, which made the experience extra fun for him. She also showed him an app where he could see and track ghost activity, which was really interesting (and a little eerie!). We stopped at several locations to admire the beautiful architecture of churches and historic buildings. Kendall is a true storyteller--she really gets into character and even dresses the part, which made everything feel more immersive. She added humor with some great puns, and we found ourselves laughing and enjoying every moment. One of the highlights was standing in a courtyard using a handheld device where we could hear what seemed like ghostly responses. It even answered my question when I asked its name--very eerie and unforgettable! Whether you believe in ghosts or not, learning about the darker, ghostly side of Saint Augustine made for a perfect evening. I've always wanted to experience something like this, and I'm so glad we booked it, even last minute. You won't regret it--but be sure to ask for Kendall... or you might! Sidenote -This is a golfcart tour, great for those who can't get around and you actually get to see more of Saint Augustine.
