My group of friends who frequently dine out together on Fridays invited me to meet with them at the Nixa Gettin' Basted last night. I hadn't eaten there before and I am normally skeptical of the value of trying new places because I have been disappointed in the past. The experience is analogous to taking the risk and going on a blind date. To my surprise a very pleasant night of dining was awaiting me. My friends had all been to Gettin' Basted before and assured me that I would be more than satisfied. Were they ever right! My burnt ends were melt-in-your-mouth good. The baked beans were the best tasting in my recent (say, last ten years) memory. The macaroni & cheese was out of this world delicious. And to add icing to the cake, their mix of pickles, onions and pepperoncini peppers were an outstanding addition to the meal. I will DEFINITELY be back and BTW our server Jennifer was fabulous! So food was excellent. I got the blackout, and Rachel got the 'que with sliced brisket. Blackout was MASSIVE. I had to take about 3/4 of it home. Meat was smoky, moist, sauce was great. The slaw was completely hidden on the sandwich. And there wasn't enough of it. What was there was good. Next time I will just have them leave it off. Bread was excellent, as well as the sauce. Appetizers-We got the pretzel. It was good, the cheese for dipping was not warm enough, and basically went solid about 3/4 way through. We also got a personal order of nachos through a reward email I got. They were okay, but lukewarm, if it was hotter, I would've enjoyed it more. They weren't very busy, so I can't say it was because of that. Not sure of staffing levels. I will definitely go back for the meats. read more

We almost skipped this restaurant because of all the negative reviews but I'm so glad we went in. It was terrific! Ordered the Judges platter and everything on it was really good. I was amazed at another review saying the brisket wasn't good because I loved it and it's typically my least favorite part of a meat platter. This was one of those "in the right place at the right time" choices. We're still not going to sit-down restaurants and the drive-thru was perfect for us. My husband chose the brisket dinner with fries and coleslaw. They also included pickles, onions, and toasted bread. The fries were good and more plentiful than he could eat. The coleslaw was not a personal favorite. The brisket was tender, flavorful, and moist but didn't have much smoke taste. No real complaints about it. We found this place to be an over priced over hyped bland bbq. I'm from the Kansas City area and have had real bbq. My brisket plate didn't even come with any bbq sauce? And the amount of food I had on my plate was not worth $21. Will not be coming here again. Sides were not great and the meat was okay but it was like it was cooked in the oven?? read more

I'm shocked at the amount of negative reviews. First of all, I'm from Dexter, Missouri. We are only known for our bbq there. This place is amazing! The burnt ends are delicious, melt in your mouth, kind of happiness! Their sauce is dreamy! And holy cow!! The corn!! I just told my husband I'd rather have the corn as my birthday "cake" rather than a traditional birthday cake... and I live cake! The corn is creamy, with a kick of spice. It's like Adel singing perfect harmony! Nixa has some great restaurants but if I could pick two it would be Morning Cafe for breakfast and this for lunch and dinner! read more

We went to this place to check it out since it's new to Nixa. WOW were we disappointed! It replaced Buckinghams, so now we're thinking WHY!? If you're going to replace a business, you'd think you'd want to do BETTER than the replacement?! But, NOPE! The staff, which seemed quite nice and eager to help, just weren't enough to make us like the food, prices and portions any better! WOW! WAY more expensive than the replacement and way LESS food! We got the Burnt End salad and the half a rack of spare ribs plate. The salad was ok?! But for the price, I was STUNNED! If I was in NY city MAYBE I could see the pretentiousness working, but not in Nixa MO!!! TINY portion for the price too! Ok taste on the Burnt ends, but nothing special!! Maybe a wee less fat then Buckinghams?! The spare ribs?! NEVER have we been to a place that served the "Half a RACK" of ribs CUT UP for us in tiny little special portions! You want it ALL! But this way, I have NO doubt they can cut off a LOT of the rib meat to use elsewhere in their "meals" and raise their profits! Not cool! Another disturbing thing I found, was the reviews on their website! VERY Misleading since MOST, if not ALL, were of the Branson location, NOT the Nixa one! One other thing I thought really odd, was when we got there, they put us at a tiny table in the bar area?! We didn't ask for that?! Were we not worthy of sitting in the dining area?! Just thought it was odd?! Anyway, if was ok! Food wasn't bad! But for the price and serving size, we won't be back! If Buckinghams went out of business, I don't see this place having staying power if they continue as is! It's one thing to run it that way in a tourist town, but Nixa isn't Branson! Just saying!
